Mark was born in Clapham, London during the early 70's and is the youngest of six children to Jamaican parents, later escaping the capital for Preston where he studied philosophy and politics at University. Here he went on to create a Guardian award winning student newspaper called the Students Onion. He was awarded a Scott Trust bursary (from the Guardian) to study post graduate journalism in 2001 and whilst on placement in 2002 he wrote several articles for them as Mark Mace and was also published by Huff Post. However, as soon as the placement was over Mark officially dropped out from the course and also from “normal society” and became a self titled - full time self-unemployed artist. He became a formidable slam poet, exhibiting painter, fine art photographer, actor, model, radio broadcaster, gallerist, dancer and a percussionist in many bands including his own. He also taught poetry, stage skills, beatbox and drumming in all types of institutions from primary schools to prisons. On top of all this he has self published 4 books of poetry and a novella, as well as editing and publishing other poets and writers. He was later inaugurated into the British Library Sound Archive as a “leading Black British poet”. Nevertheless Mark says he “was never consistently successful and failed to make the most of the opportunities available.” In 2020 after a eight week spell being homeless (in a Manchester hostel) Mark took one bag, flew to Mallorca, spent a week with a friend there and then, through art, drumming and the right words in the right order, he found a home where he lived free and alone in exchange for providing maintenance and security. It was this alone time when Mark recognised, understood and accepted what he terms his ‘Augiftism'. Now in 2024, Mark is an Itinerant artist, what he calls a “Solo Boho Euro Hobo, without a single special place to call home yet with a longstanding belief that everything will work out fine in the end as it always has done, and a firm knowledge that he will not and should not be spending winter in dull, cold and rainy Northern Europe. Mark is currently editing his autobiography - Autistic Hindsight / Augiftic Foresight - which explores the link between autism and spirituality. This episode is a soliloquy that should incentivize you to think about all the stories you were told growing up. How many of those stories were true? How about the story your parents told you about Santa Claus? Christmas is such a inspiring time of year. It's great for families and most people are very fond of Christmas time and the memories they had growing up surrounding this ubiquitous holiday. How awful did you feel when you first learned you were lied to; there is no Santa Claus. What else were we told that is not true? How about how many things that are true that we have not been told either? This podcast is about musings or thoughts that should at the least cause you to think about your life and the narrative that you are living out day to day. Narratives that are based on lies will cause worry, anxiety and fear. That's not a way to live life. How do we find out what is really true? How can we re-align our lives to the truth for the truth will set us free? Come take a listen and see if you can find out the source of all truth. Come see if you can find some truth that will set up free in one part of your life. It will be worth the time you spend listening to grasp one truth that will help you overcome one fear. Remember perfect love casts out all fear! Where can you find perfect love? It's in the heart of the Father! Papa Tom
“Entertainment is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience or gives pleasure and delight. It can be an idea or a task, but it is more likely to be one of the activities or events that have developed over thousands of years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience's attention. Although people's attention is held by different things because individuals have different preferences, most forms of entertainment are recognisable and familiar. Storytelling, music, drama, dance, and different kinds of performance exist in all cultures, were supported in royal courts, and developed into sophisticated forms over time, becoming available to all citizens. The process has been accelerated in modern times by an entertainment industry that records and sells entertainment products. Entertainment evolves and can be adapted to suit any scale, ranging from an individual who chooses private entertainment from a now enormous array of pre-recorded products, to a banquet adapted for two, to any size or type of party with appropriate music and dance, to performances intended for thousands, and even for a global audience. The experience of being entertained has come to be strongly associated with amusement, so that one common understanding of the idea is fun and laughter, although many entertainments have a serious purpose. This may be the case in various forms of ceremony, celebration, religious festival, or satire, for example. Hence, there is the possibility that what appears to be entertainment may also be a means of achieving insight or intellectual growth. An important aspect of entertainment is the audience, which turns a private recreation or leisure activity into entertainment. The audience may have a passive role, as in the case of people watching a play, opera, television show, or film; or the audience role may be active, as in the case of games, where the participant and audience roles may be routinely reversed. Entertainment can be public or private, involving formal, scripted performances, as in the case of theatre or concerts, or unscripted and spontaneous, as in the case of children's games. Most forms of entertainment have persisted over many centuries, evolving due to changes in culture, technology, and fashion, as with stage magic. Films and video games, although they use newer media, continue to tell stories, present drama, and play music. Festivals devoted to music, film, or dance allow audiences to be entertained over a number of consecutive days. Some entertainment, such as public executions, is now illegal in most countries. Activities such as fencing or archery, once used in hunting or war, have become spectator sports. In the same way, other activities, such as cooking, have developed into performances among professionals, staged as global competitions, and then broadcast for entertainment. What is entertainment for one group or individual may be regarded as work or an act of cruelty by another. The familiar forms of entertainment have the capacity to cross over into different media and have demonstrated a seemingly unlimited potential for creative remix. This has ensured the continuity and longevity of many themes, images, and structures.” I get to do storytelling, performance, satire, plays, operas, and teach https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_skills. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support
The impact that Blake Snyder's Save the Cat® book series has had on Hollywood screenwriting is incalculable. Rarely does a book change the way screenwriters approach story and structure. In his best-selling book, Save the Cat! Goes to the Movies: The Screenwriter's Guide to Every Story Ever Told, Blake Snyder provided 50 “beat sheets” to 50 films, mostly studio-made.Now his student, screenwriter and novelist Salva Rubio applies Blake's principles to 50 independent, auteur, European, and cult films (again with 5 beat sheets for each of Blake's 10 genres in the book Save the Cat!® Goes to the Indies: The Screenwriters Guide to 50 Films from the Masters. If you're a moviegoer, you'll discover a language to analyze film and understand how filmmakers can effectively reach audiences. If you're a writer, this book reveals how those who came before you tackled the same challenges you are facing with the films you want to write. Writing a “rom-com”? Check out the “Buddy Love” chapter for a “beat for beat” dissection of Before Sunrise, The Reader, Blue Is the Warmest Color, and more to see how Linklater and Krizan, David Hare, and Kechiche and Lacroix structured their films.Scripting a horror film? Read the “Monster in the House” section and discover how 28 Days Later and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre are the same movie – and what you need to do to write a scary story that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.Want to execute a great mystery? Go to the “Whydunit” chapter and learn about the “dark turn” that's essential to the heroes of The Big Lebowski, The French Connection, and Michael Clayton.Want your protagonist to go up against an evil “institution”? Consider how Mamet handled Glengarry Glen Ross and Tarantino's famed Pulp Fiction.Writing a “Superhero” story? See how Susannah Grant structured Erin Brockovich, Anderson & Baumbach worked out Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Gilliam & Stoppard & McKeown laid the foundation for Brazil. With these 50 beat sheets, you'll see how “hitting the beats” creates stories that resonate the world over for these outstanding writers—and how you can follow in their footsteps.Salva Rubio is a novelist, screenwriter, and author. He has been nominated at the Spanish Goya Awards for Best Animation Feature. As a graphic novel writer, some of his works have been published in America, including Monet, Itinerant of Light (nominated for an Eisner Award), and The Photographer of Mauthausen. Welcome back to Everyday Oral Surgery as we bring you an episode inspired by the July/August '23 edition of AAOMS Today. As ever, we are thrilled to be joined by the wonderful Medical Director of Blue Cross, North Carolina, Dr. Ben Hechler. Ben relays his initial thoughts on itinerant surgery before diving into its definition (and the importance of understanding it), and why defining itinerant surgery is an extremely technical process. We also examine the problems related to itinerant surgery and proximity, why AAOMS has taken a hard stance on certain regulations, the difficulties of being a surgeon operating in multiple offices, and what a surgeon's responsibilities are in post-care follow-ups and communication. To end, we explore what you should be wary of regarding moonlighting in residency and why itinerant surgery has become a common trend that will likely continue. His itinerant ministry involved teaching in the synagogue, proclaiming the Gospel, and healing the crowds. C. H. Spurgeon once said of Jesus, “He was the Prince of open-air preachers, the Great Itinerant, the President of the College of all preachers of the gospel.”
Dr. Kristi Soileau discusses the Ethical Moment article that she authored with Dr. Kennedy W. Merritt - Patient Care and Responsibilities of the Itinerant Provider. We cover a lot of ground in this episode, but not a lot of this ground is tied directly to Derrida. In the beginning of the episode, we talk about the dynamics of appropriation, math, physics, the terminology of becoming, and Heraclitus. Towards the middle and end, we discuss the brevity of history, how Hollywood must save us, and the genius of the Matrix.
This heartening sermon focuses on the brief assertion by the apostle Peter that our Lord went about doing good. What a delight it is to consider the character and activity of our Lord under this short description! Spurgeon spends the main part of the sermon in asking what Christ did, how he did it, and why he did it. It really is as simple as that. Then, in a second point, he makes his application: to what extent are we following in the footsteps of our Saviour? This gives us reason to repent over our past, and to consecrate ourselves for the future, in dependence upon God, to go as he went, marked by the same intent, imbued with the same spirit, and moved by the same desire.
