These books have significantly influenced his perspective on business and entrepreneurship. Jarrod Nation leverages podcasts for continuous professional development. His go-to podcasts include "Howie Games" for parallels between sports and business journeys, "The Imperfects" focusing on mental health and personal stories, and "The Financial Review" offering valuable business insights. By incorporating diverse sources, Jarrod stays informed and inspired, aligning his learning with both entrepreneurial and personal development. Jarrod Nation highlights the importance of a scoreboard for small business growth. His specific tool recommendation is "Zero," an accounting system that serves as a crucial financial management tool. This tool helps extract reports and provides insights, enabling effective decision-making for sustained business development. Reflecting on the initial days of his business journey, Jarrod Nation advises focusing on resilience, understanding that challenges are not as dire as they may seem, and building trust in people. He emphasizes the importance of persevering through difficulties, maintaining a positive mindset, and placing trust in both the product and the team. While serving as an active-duty US Navy officer, Jai Salters is also the founder and executive director of ACT Now Education and founder and CEO of his own consulting firm. He has a mission to get 1000 military service members and their spouses employed by the time he retires from the Navy in 2027. He has already helped hundreds of people successfully navigate their transition. When Jai hit the 10-year mark in the military, he made the decision to continue until retirement. Without a college degree or any certifications, he knew his options would be limited if he separated at 10 years. Determined to make the most of his next 10+ years, Jai began researching different education programs and opportunities. He was amazed at the plethora of information and shared his new knowledge with colleagues. ACT Now Education started as a brief that focused on the resources that Jai had discovered. From there, Jai went on to earn 17 certifications, an associate degree and a bachelor's degree. Today, ACT Now Education focuses on upskill and reskill resources. Most resources are free with a handful costing very little. ACT Now serves as an advocate for organizations offering free certifications and partners with organizations like Coursera and Project Management Institute (PMI). ACT Now has developed several cohort-style training programs that provide business suits, resume services, interview prep and access to Fortune 500 mentors. Every Saturday, Jai hosts a virtual meeting that is open to all service members and their families. He brings on guest speakers to help service members, veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Attendees will leave with a 21-page resource guide and a transition checklist. Last year alone, Jai helped over 150 people get jobs. Many of these people utilized ACT Now Education or learned about different opportunities through Jai's LinkedIn posts. In 2021, ACT Now went online and has grown substantially in the past 3 years. As a nonprofit, the organization relies on the support of companies like Microsoft. Through his networking skills and the success of ACT Now, Jai regularly has employers and federal agencies reach out to him to help fill open positions. Jai's ultimate goal is to revise the TAP program. He envisions modernizing the class and streamlining initiatives like SkillBridge to maximize positive outcomes. He credits organizations like Veterati, The COMMIT foundation and American Corporate Partners (ACP) for providing additional resources beyond those found through TAP.Subscribe to our YouTube channel at https://tinyurl.com/llforvets22Connect with Jai at https://www.linkedin.com/in/jai-salters/Explore ACT Now Education at https://actnoweducation.org/Download the AAFMAA transition timeline at https://aafmaa.com/ll4vSUBSCRIBE & LEAVE A FIVE-STAR REVIEW and share this with other veterans who might need help as they transition from the military!AAFMA, the American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association is the longest-standing nonprofit association offering life insurance, wealth management, mortgages, survivor assistance and more. On this week's episode of Ask A CISSP, we have an interview with Jai Salters. Please LISTEN
In this episode, I speak to Robert Salters who writes mini-agnostic rule sets. You hear about them in the show, but the one you may know of most is Battlespace, an ultra-modern solo/co-op rule set with some interesting mechanics, which you will hear about in the chat. It was fun to talk to Robert, and I thank him on our behalf for taking the time to chat.

“Michael Anthony Salters, described by law enforcement officials as a drug dealer and mediator among competing District drug organizations, was shot and killed late Tuesday near First and Bryant streets NW when an unidentified gunman opened fire on Salters's car, D.C. police reported. Salters's body, still inside his bullet-riddled car, was left outside the entrance to Washington Hospital Center shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, said 5th District Capt. James Coffey. Salters was pronounced dead about 1 a.m. yesterday, said Officer Daniel Straub, a D.C. police spokesman. The police department released few details of the incident yesterday. Sources said Salters had been shot at least six times. Law enforcement sources said Salters was one of the city's largest drug dealers but that his real power was in his ability to referee turf disputes among rival drug dealers. A law enforcement source said Salters had been implicated in drug deals of more than 200 pounds, but that he had proved too "well insulated" from direct involvement to be charged. Agents at times put Salters under intense surveillance, and interviewed drug dealers who said they had worked with and for him, law enforcement sources said. His name also came up in wiretapped conversations, they said. Federal drug officials say they have been told by several drug dealers that some dealers ceded to Salters the power to assign drug territories for PCP, heroin, cocaine and other drugs.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

In part one of this two-part episode, we hear the origin story of someone who was not your average computer scientist growing up. Dr. Christina Gardner-McCune was not "sitting around building servers" in her free time. Instead, she participated in student government cheerleading and developed a passion for education-based interventions. Although she had a couple of setbacks and restarts in her educational journey with her mother's encouragement and a desire to blend her creativity with computer science, Dr. Gardner McCune was able to lay the foundations for her career successfully. Corrections: Dr. Gardner McCune was an AP CS Principles Development committee member, not the leader of the committee as stated in the episode. Dr. Gardner McCune's Middle School Vice Principal's name was Mr. Salters.
