We Will Erase Europe from the Map in a Nuclear Firestorm - Karaganov

2026-01-15 | UPDATES #100 | Sergey Karaganov appears on Tucker Carlson — it's a match made in hell – and they talked about nuclear blackmail, Europe as the enemy, and how the Kremlin may be forced to save humanity and civilisation, by wiping out Europe in a nuclear firestorm. Yes, he said that. Sergey Karaganov — a long-time Moscow foreign-policy heavyweight and nuclear-escalation enthusiast — sat down with Tucker Carlson and did what Kremlin ideologues do best: talk about erasing Ukraine, recasting the war as Russia versus “evil Europe,” and then floated an escalatory ladder that ends in nuclear strikes on European states. And yes, he said the loud bit out even louder: “Europe will be taken away from the map of the humanity.” Let's break down what he threatened, why Karaganov matters, but not in the way that he wants us to believe, and how this fits the Kremlin's intimidation cycle — especially as it comes on the day when Trump (once more) publicly blamed Zelensky for stalled talks while Russia and kept on hitting Ukrainian civilians and energy infrastructure.----------SOURCES: Tucker Carlson interview transcript (The Singju Post, Jan 2026): Karaganov's “map of humanity” line and UK/Germany targeting remarks. upday (UK edition, Jan 15, 2026): summary of Karaganov's threat framing (note: page labels itself AI-generated). A revelatory and searingly immediate report from the frontlines of the firestorm that consumed Los Angeles, from the MS NOW correspondent and New York Times bestselling author of Separated, who covered the fires on the ground as an LA native. On the morning of January 7, 2025, a message pinged the phone of Jacob Soboroff, a national correspondent for MS NOW. "Big Palisades fire. We are evacuating," his brother texted within minutes of the blaze engulfing the hillside behind the home where he and his pregnant wife were living. "Really bad." An attached photo showed a huge black plume rising from behind the house, an umbrella of smoke towering over everything they owned. Jacob rushed to the office of the bureau chief."I should go. I grew up in the Palisades."Soon he was on the front line of the blaze-his first live report of what would turn out to be weeks covering unimaginable destruction, from both the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, in Altadena. In the days to come, Soboroff appeared across the networks of NBC News as Los Angeles was ablaze, met with displaced residents and workers, and pressed Governor Gavin Newsom in an interview on Meet the Press. But no story Soboroff has covered at home or abroad-the trauma of family separation at the border, the displacement of the war in Ukraine, the collapse of order in Haiti-could have prepared him for reporting live as the hallmarks of his childhood were engulfed in flames around him while his hometown burned to the ground. But for Soboroff, questions remained after the fires were controlled: what had he just witnessed? How could it have happened? Is it inevitable something like it will happen again? This set Soboroff off on months of reporting-with firefighters, fire victims, political leaders, academics, earth scientists, wildlife biologists, meteorologists and more-that made him keenly aware of how the misfortune of seeing his past carbonize was also a form of time travel into the dystopian world his children will inhabit. This is because the 2025 LA fires were not an isolated tragedy, but rather they are a harbinger-"the fire of the future," in the words of one senior emergency-management official.Firestorm is the story of the costliest wildfire in American history, the people it affected and the deeply personal connection to one journalist covering it. It is a love letter to Los Angeles, a yearning to understand the fires, and why America's new age of disaster we are living through portends that-without a reckoning of how Los Angeles burned-there is more yet, and worse, to come..Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Happy New Year, and welcome back to the Outdoor Minimalist podcast. After a much-needed hiatus, I've had time to reflect on where this show is headed—and how I can better manage the energy and care that go into producing it.With that in mind, I want to share a few updates you can expect as we move through 2026.First, our Monday episodes aren't changing. We'll continue releasing weekly expert interviews on a wide range of topics, many of which come directly from listener requests. If there's a topic or guest you'd love to hear on the show, I'd genuinely love to know. You can reach out to me on social media or through theoutdoorminimalist.com.Our Friday episodes are where you'll see a small shift. We'll continue covering public lands policy, but in a more focused way. There are incredible organizations—like Western Priorities and the newly founded Re:Public—doing dedicated, in-depth public lands reporting, and we want to help support and uplift that work. Producing two episodes every week, with one being a news-focused show, isn't sustainable long-term, so moving forward, Friday episodes will be released every other week. The good news is that public lands coverage isn't going away—it'll just be less frequent on the podcast. For more regular updates, you can follow us on Instagram and TikTok, or subscribe to our weekly newsletter. And when those Friday episodes do drop, I hope you'll continue tuning in.So, to recap: Monday episodes will continue weekly, just as they have for the past three years, and Friday episodes will now be released every other Friday. Now, onto the show.In episode 205 of the Outdoor Minimalist podcast, we are talking about wildfire—but not in the way it's usually framed. So much of the public conversation around fire focuses on catastrophe: dramatic footage, scorched landscapes, and endless debates about forest thinning or suppression. But what often gets lost is the science—and more importantly, the solutions that actually determine whether homes and communities survive when fire inevitably arrives. My guest today has spent years working at the intersection of wildfire science, film, and public understanding, pushing back against misinformation and tragedy-only narratives in favor of something more constructive: community resilience.Connor Nelson is a Los Angeles–based cinematographer and documentary filmmaker whose work centers on wildfire, mental health, and addiction. Connor recently shot Inside the L.A. Firestorm, a NASA-supported documentary examining the Palisades and Eaton fires, and he's currently working on an eight-part documentary series focused on wildfire, solutions-based storytelling, and what actually protects communities. Across his work, he challenges the media's tendency to chase tragedy and misinformation, asking a harder—but far more useful—question: What would it look like if we told stories that changed outcomes instead of just documenting loss?Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/outdoor.minimalist.book/Website: https://www.theoutdoorminimalist.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@theoutdoorminimalistBuy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/outdoorminimalistListener Survey: https://forms.gle/jd8UCN2LL3AQst976------------------Connor NelsonWebsite: https://www.connornelsondp.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/connornelson.dop/Inside the LA Firestorm: https://www.pbs.org/video/weathered-inside-the-la-firestorm-l31r0b/

The Firestorm and Civilian Horror — James M. Scott — The March 9th raid generates a catastrophic "tidal wave of fire" that overwhelms Tokyo's primitive air defense infrastructure and emergency response systems. Scott recounts the horror through survivor testimony, including Shizuko Nishio, whose family flees to a school only to discover absence of protective shelter from the advancing firestorm. Scott documents the intense heat literally melting glass embedded in concrete building structures while the firestorm creates its own weather system through violent convection, generating hurricane-force winds that transport oxygen toward the fire center while simultaneously drawing human bodies and debris toward the conflagration. Scott incorporates eyewitness documentation from photographer Koyo Ishikawa, who visually documents the firestorm aftermath, describing a wall of fire advancing across the urban landscape like an ocean wave consuming everything in its destructive path. 1930 TOKYO

TALK TO ME, TEXT ITHoliday lights, hot takes, and a double-header that doesn't flinch. We open the first day of December with a quick pulse check—trees up, Elfie sighting, and a birthday countdown—then dive straight into a blistering report card on the FBI under Director Cash Patel with Dan Bongino as deputy. The critique, sourced from active and retired insiders, calls the bureau a “rudderless ship,” dings Patel's judgment in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination case, and accuses leadership of chasing optics and social media clout. We unpack the claims, the anonymous “Alpha” sources, and the old fault lines over politicization and culture. Are these red flags about competence, or a factional knife fight dressed up as accountability? Then we pivot from political turbulence to a medical shocker: the rise of “scromiting,” the colloquial term for cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome. Chronic cannabis users are reporting waves of extreme nausea, violent vomiting, and abdominal pain—sometimes for days—leading to dehydration, ER visits, and scary recoveries. We examine why the condition is spiking, what researchers and clinicians are seeing, and how social platforms like TikTok spread both warnings and confusion. The hard truth is simple and unglamorous: frequency matters, potency matters, and for some, the only real fix is to stop.Throughout, we keep the tone candid and curious, testing how we judge credibility—whether it's law enforcement under scrutiny or health risks wrapped in internet virality. CannCon and Zak Paine return from GART Cocoa Beach and dive straight into the headlines, breaking down the week's biggest political and cultural bombshells. From the government shutdown “deal” that left Democrats scrambling to save face to Trump's renewed call to end the filibuster, the hosts dissect how D.C.'s dysfunction keeps America hostage. They analyze the shocking Blaze Media report identifying a former Capitol Police officer as a forensic match for the January 6th pipe bomber and explore how it ties into the broader narrative of FBI coverups and media complicity. The conversation heats up with Ed Martin's announcement that Trump has pardoned the 2020 alternate electors, triggering questions about constitutional authority, state weaponization, and election integrity. They wrap with sports corruption, BBC election interference, and even Ghislaine Maxwell's suspiciously cushy prison life—connecting it all to the crumbling illusion of institutional trust. A hard-hitting, fast-moving episode that balances humor, outrage, and hope for what's coming next.

A 911 ping leads to an Albuquerque stash house with kidnapped migrants and a ransom ledger—proof that policy signals have real-world consequences. We unpack how sanctuary rules that block ICE coordination can embolden predators, why public safety must come before political branding, and what accountability should look like at City Hall. That urgency threads into a broader reality check: Britain's step back from rapid net zero plans exposes hard limits on intermittent power, rising grid costs, and the arithmetic of energy density. Meanwhile, U.S. demand is skyrocketing—think AI data centers, electrification, and industry—while New Mexico families operate on thin margins. Price hikes don't hit spreadsheets; they hit kitchens. So we draw a line: pair responsible oil and gas with a national sprint toward fusion. Unlike fission, fusion promises abundant, cleaner baseload without massive waste, and breakthroughs are accelerating. We talk practical policy—why middle-class tax relief matters now, why energy scarcity guarantees suffering, and how investment in fusion can deliver both climate progress and affordability. It's not ideology; it's physics, finance, and compassion. We also tackle a brewing trade storm: Ontario's ad splicing Ronald Reagan's anti-tariff remarks to swipe at Trump spurred a tariff escalation and a quick pullback. Beyond the noise, the question is context—1987 trade dynamics aren't today's, and resilience matters when supply chains shape national security. Add a government shutdown threatening pay for troops and federal workers, and the theme is clear: don't outsource reality. And because real life isn't all policy, we close with a jolt from our game cams—coyotes, a big bobcat, and a massive mountain lion caught strolling at midday.Join us for straight talk on safety, energy, and sovereignty—plus the wildest wildlife clip we've seen yet. Welcome to The Chopping Block — where crypto insiders Haseeb Qureshi, Tom Schmidt, Tarun Chitra, and Robert Leshner chop it up about the latest in crypto. This week, Helius's Mert returns to defend Zcash's ~400% run and the “encrypted Bitcoin” framing, digging into anonymity sets, privacy UX, and why Bitcoiners are so riled up. We then tackle the Tempo bombshell — a ~$500M raise at a ~$5B pre, Stripe/Paradigm ties, Dankrad's move from the EF — alongside Péter Szilágyi's letter on EF culture and compensation: public goods priesthood vs. market incentives. Next up: Mert's “USD Manlet” rethink (why coordinating Solana around one stable is hard, and why pushing USDT to compete with USDC may be the sharper play) plus a gripe-fueled tour of today's DeFi trading UX. Finally, an AWS-outage autopsy: Coinbase downtime, Base sequencer hiccups, Infura/MetaMask ripple effects, and the case for multi-region/multi-cloud redundancy when real money — and sometimes safety — are on the line. And no, despite the memes, Mert is not launching a DEX.
