In 2008, Lisa Salters reported an E60 documentary called Blood Brothers about the family of former NBA star Carlos Boozer and their quest to save their son, Carmani, from sickle cell disease. But it turns out that journey was just the tip of the iceberg, because in April of this year — 16 years later — Blood Brothers was back on for a very different reason. ESPN NBA Draft Analyst Jonathan Givony joins host David Dennis, Jr. to take us through Lisa and E60's reporting from 2008 and April of this year, and explain how a story of medical triumph ultimately landed in his own jurisdiction as the Boozer's younger sons, twins Cameron and Cayden Boozer, became top NBA draft prospects. Jerry reminisces that the NBA Championship used to be a big deal for sports fans “back in the day” and now, not so much. A caller asks whether Cole is coming back too soon and what the Yankees pitching rotation will be moving forward. We preview the Yankees/Orioles series which begins tonight. Another caller asks that now with Rizzo injured, would the Yankees attempt to make a run at Pete Alonso. Unlikely. C-Lo pops up with sound of the DJ Stewart home run from last night's Mets victory. Would people recognize DJ Stewart if he was walking down the street? We have a clip of Sal Licata extremely agitated that Grimace is being mentioned as a catalyst for the Mets run. On the other hand, Evan Roberts is on board and offers to make love to the McDonald's mascot. Reports that Anthony Rizzo will be out 4 to 6 weeks. Sound of the Payton Pritchard buzzer beater to end the first half. Jayson Tatum sound from after the game and he's happy. Celtics owner mistakes Lisa Salters for another woman reporter. Mike Breen points out an inappropriately mouthy fan saying bad things at Kyrie Irving. Panthers/Oilers tonight with Florida trying to close it out. The person called “Oilers Girl” is unapologetic about her world famous display - as well she should be. As the hour grinds to a halt, Jerry has an 80s baseball quiz for Al. Hour 1 It's Al & Jerry this morning as Boomer & Gio take the day off for whatever reason. The sports talk starts with the Mets who have gone 10-2 during the last dozen games. They ruined the Rangers last night with a lineup that just tee'd up on Texas pitching. Whatever the reason - the team is clicking right now, Grimace, the “gay” Mets - it's working. Just go with it, fans. We drift into talk about Al's dislike for Canada. This becomes a mention about how much of America looks the same with malls, stores, fast food, etc. We touch upon how it seems Pete Alonso simply should be a Met. He fits and is comfortable here. C-Lo is in the update spot today and brings us sounds of the Mets victory including post-game stuff and their new secret handshake. The Arlington, TX mariachi band was playing Creed to soothe the dying souls of their fans. We also go into an aside about Grimace from the McDonald's Cinematic Universe throwing out the first pitch. Celtics beat the Mavs to become the 2024 NBA Champs. We end the hour with Jerry making a comparison between how the Celtics built a championship team and what David Stearns and Steve Cohen want to do with the Mets. Al has been paying attention to the patterns of attractive joggers on the way to work - the way serial killers do. Anthony in Belleville regales us with his stunningly bad “Gay Mets” theme song. A caller loves the Who album, Tommy, and we remember the Elton John and Billy Joel tour. Hour 2 Jerry reminisces that the NBA Championship used to be a big deal for sports fans “back in the day” and now, not so much. A caller mentions how a shirt kept him safe from opposing fans. Another caller with deep knowledge of alt rock history. A Red Sox fan doesn't understand why the Steve Cohen regime is being disparaged so much. The hour cuts off because they didn't go to a break so pick it up next hour. Hour 3 We open the hour with talk of the Bill Belichick relationship with a 24 year old. He gave her a nice note with his autograph that now her friends have shared with TMZ. We discuss the notion that their meeting was innocent because young men think that older men talking to young women does not have a threatening aura. Are people obsessing a bit too much about this (this is me, your writer, asking this). Before C-Lo gets going with an update, a mention of Gisele Bundchen's partner morphs into discussing which male coworkers can be seen being sexual. Sports talk shows up and we have the Mets banging out 22 hits in their victory over the Rangers. They were just hitting their pitching hard. As for the Yanks, they open a series with the O's. Rizzo is out with a broken arm - 4 to 6 weeks. Yanks will bring up the hot Ben Rice and give him a shot at first base. Jomboy provides some lip-reading of a manager vs. umpire argument. Rory McIlroy posted his disappointment at losing and congratulated Bryson DeChambeau. He's taking a month off to get ready for the Scottish & British Opens. In our last hourly segment, Al says he would love to be a juror in retirement. Jerry suggests that Al should study up and be a judge. Hour 4 A caller clears up that Evan Roberts is an alternate juror which means he'll probably be summarily dismissed with a “see ya” before deliberations. Another caller underlines the importance of alternates to the judicial system. A third caller who was charged with a crime clears up the notion of self-defense. Lo and behold, Evan Roberts calls in to defend himself against charges he misrepresented his jury status to the listening public. He also remarks on his enthusiasm for Grimace. Al breaks news of Justin Timberlake being arrested for driving while intoxicated. Yet one more caller asks Jerry if he allows himself to have a fan's reaction when calling Rutgers games. A criminal defense attorney checks in to tell us why he would have never picked Evan for a jury. C-Lo is in but we start with discussion of golfing experiences. The final sports report of the day begins with more Mets from their hit-fest against the Rangers. We talk about Lindor finally in the swing of things. Steve Gelbs talked to deGrom about his time with the Mets. Yanks get back into it with the O's in town. Gerrit Cole back from IL starts tomorrow. Ben Rice was called up to replace the injured Rizzo. Celtics are NBA Champs. McIlroy praises DeChambeau. Moment of the Day involves Al's envisioning male coworkers having sex. The show ends with callers including one 65 year old gentleman who is quite satisfied dating younger women.

This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief for Friday, August 4th, 2023. Isn’t it about time to take action on how you're going to give your children and grandchildren a good music education? Moses, David, and all the Saints of the church have worshiped God with musical might, so let’s be confidently found doing the same. Bohnet Music Academy instructs children and adults in how to be musically literate. That’s everything you need to know and do as the musician God made you to be. Lessons are available locally in Moscow, ID and online. What’s great is that in addition to getting vocal training, you can also study the piano, guitar, violin, cello, drums, or the trumpet. Visit Bohnetma.com/crosspolitic for more information on how to equip your family to serve God’s musical commands. B-O-H-N-E-T MA.com/crosspolitic http://bohnetma.com/crosspolitic https://www.dailywire.com/news/pittsburgh-synagogue-shooter-sentenced-to-death-by-jury Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooter Sentenced To Death By Jury A jury on Wednesday sentenced the man who gunned down 11 people at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh to death, nearly five years after the attack. The shooter, whom I will not name, was found guilty in June of all 63 counts he was facing, including 11 counts of obstructing the free exercise of religious beliefs resulting in death and 11 counts of hate crimes resulting in death. The jury’s unanimous decision was announced by U.S. District Judge Robert J. Colville, who presided over the trial, which took place in downtown Pittsburgh. The judge will officially sentence the shooter to death later this week. The victims were from three Jewish congregations who gathered at the Tree of Life synagogue on October 27, 2018. Two other worshipers and five police officers were also wounded by the gunman, who unloaded a Colt AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and three Glock .357 handguns during his attack. Victims of the shooting were: Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil and David Rosenthal, Bernice and Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger. The shooting is considered by authorities to be the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in U.S. history. Attorneys representing the shooter asked for a life sentence if he pleaded guilty, but prosecutors, with the support of most of the victims’ families, refused and took the case to trial to pursue the death penalty. The shooter’s lawyers also argued that he was impaired by mental illness and a delusional belief system took over his thinking, dictating that he had to kill Jews to stop a genocide of white people, the Associated Press reported. “He turned this place of worship into an exhibit in his criminal trial,” U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan said while arguing for jurors to recommend the death penalty, according to the Pittsburgh Gazette. A criminal complaint showed that the man told authorities he intentionally targeted the synagogue because he hoped to kill Jewish people. The shooter’s defense attorneys acknowledged that he had done the shooting but asked jurors to “scrutinize his intent.” We now go across the pond for this one! https://thenationalpulse.com/2023/08/02/uk-tories-enforce-diversity-quotas-for-new-members-of-parliament/ UK Tories Enforce Diversity Quotas for New Members of Parliament. The United Kingdom’s ‘Conservative’ Party has implemented new diversity quotas and guidelines for selecting candidates – would-be Members of Parliament (MPs). The targets include age as well as ethnicity and gender. Diversity quotas are in place even before candidates are considered as the party’s “Sifting Committee,” which is responsible for sorting through applicants after applying for the position, must have specific characteristics: “The Sifting Committee must comprise a minimum of one woman and one young person under the age of 30. The additional Association members of the Committee should reflect the different interests of the constituency, i.e. should have a balance of gender, age and ethnicity.” After the initial sift, the Selection Committee must “recognise their responsibility” to ensure that candidates are chosen in a way that “displays diversity and variety and which has a due regard to the local profile of the constituency” and guarantees a balance of genders. The selection rules also state that the process must be “inclusive and free from discrimination” and “fully acknowledge and embrace diversity,” except when considering female candidates, in which case “some degree of positive discrimination is permitted.” The rules add that anything considered “indirect discrimination” is prohibited; meaning, any requirement that could have a “disproportionate impact” on one group. President Donald Trump highlighted the Conservative’s shift to the “far left” in an interview with Nigel Farage earlier this year. More recently, the party expelled a mayor for ‘repenting‘ after attending a Pride event. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/aug/02/orlando-magic-nba-team-donated-ron-desantis-super-pac Orlando Magic donated $50,000 to Ron DeSantis Super Pac The Orlando Magic NBA team has donated $50,000 to a Super Pac supporting the presidential bid of Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis. According to Federal Election Commission records, the Never Back Down Super Pac received the donation made by the basketball team on 26 June. Further results showed the team making donations to other political causes in past years, with $500 going to Conservative Results in 2016, $2,000 to Maverick Pac USA in 2014 and another $500 to Linda Chapin for Congress in 2000. In an initial statement to Popular Information, a Magic spokesperson said: “We don’t comment publicly on political contributions.” However, in a later follow-up statement, a spokesperson clarified the donation, saying that the check was “dated/delivered on May 19”, five days before DeSantis declared his presidential bid. “This gift was given before Governor DeSantis entered the presidential race. [It] was given as a Florida business in support of a Florida governor for the continued prosperity of central Florida,” the spokesperson said. According to Never Back Down’s website, the Super Pac describes itself as a “grassroots movement to elect Governor Ron DeSantis for president in 2024”. The donation has drawn criticism online, particularly given the Magic’s claims of supporting “diversity, equity and inclusion all year long” and DeSantis’s culture wars in which he announced plans to block DEI programs in state colleges among other legislation targeting minority and marginalized groups including LGBTQ+ communities. The Orlando Magic team is under Amway North America, a multi-level marketing firm co-established by Richard DeVos, the late father-in-law of Trump’s education secretary Betsy DeVos. Over the years, the DeVos family has made multiple donations to conservative organizations. In 2006, the Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation made a $540,000 donation to Focus on the Family, a Colorado-based organization that opposes same-sex marriage and abortions, HuffPost reports. In 2008, Richard DeVos donated $100,000 to Florida4Marriage, a group that campaigned to add a state constitutional ban on same-sex marriages. “That’s just a sacred issue of respecting marriage,” Richard DeVos said in a 2009 interview in reference to his donation. Following reports of the donation, the National Basketball Players Association, a union representing NBA players, issued a statement on Wednesday, calling the donation “alarming”. “A political contribution from the Orlando Magic is alarming given recent comments and policies of its beneficiary. NBA governors, players and personnel have the right to express their personal political views, including through donations and statements. “However, if contributions are made on behalf of an entire team, using money earned through the labor of its employees, it is incumbent upon the team governors to consider the diverse values and perspectives of staff and players. “The Magic’s donation does not represent player support for the recipient,” the union said. https://www.boundingintosports.com/2023/08/shakeups-continue-at-espn-as-nba-analyst-mark-jackson-is-fired-after-10-years-with-the-network/ Shakeups Continue at ESPN As NBA Analyst Mark Jackson Is Fired After 10 Years With The Network Mark Jackson is a New York native who played his college basketball at St. John’s before being chosen by the Knicks in the first round of the 1987 draft. He spent two separate stints with the franchise, and his time in the shadows of The City That Never Sleeps had him ready for the big stage when he wanted to transition to television. He would go on to a coaching career by taking the helm in Golden State, just before the eventual arrival of Steve Kerr and a slew of NBA titles. Still, he rebounded nicely, and would later famously team with Mike Breen and Van Gundy to form one of the best broadcasting trios in all of sports. That is – until this week. In response, Mark Jackson released a long statement, saying goodbye: “This morning, unexpectedly, I was informed that my services were no longer needed at ESPN. Although shocked and dismayed with the suddenness of it all, I would like to thank ESPN and all the staff of the NBA ESPN crew for allowing me to be a part of the organization for the past 15+ years. I would also like to thank the NBA fans watching at home and in the arenas throughout the league for all of your support. To the NBA, a heartfelt thank you for allowing a kid to continue to accomplish his dreams. “It has been an honor to sit beside two LEGENDS in the business, who are like brothers to me, Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy, and learn so much from them,” the former Knicks standout continued. “Lisa Salters is a GOAT and like a sister to me and I’m so proud of the work she continues to do. To the best producer in the world, and my friend, Tim Corrigan, I give the utmost gratitude and thanks for always inspiring and supporting me. To all of the staff and crew, that may have never been seen on camera… please know that you were always seen by me and so greatly appreciated.” Jackson then concluded his sign-off from The Worldwide Leader in Sports gracefully, giving praise to God on his way out the door. “Finally, I wish greater measures of success to the new ESPN team. May they continue to elevate this game that has given me a home and a life. I leave ESPN with nothing but gratitude, all the while knowing that my highest praise goes to God! Through it all, He has always sustained me and His grace allows me to know that there are greater blessings ahead. I look forward to what He has in store next.” Jackson’s layoff is the latest in a series of cost-cutting moves by the network, which has experienced a sharp drop in popularity and profitability in recent years.

Moses, David, and all the Saints of the church have worshiped God with musical might, so let’s be confidently found doing the same. The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is scheduled to meet on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss, amongst other topics, whether to include the Covid vaccines and other vaccinations into their child and adolescent immunization schedule. According to WBOY, the CDC is considering adding the vaccine to their schedule in order for it to be covered under the federally-funded Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program and other programs. In order for vaccines to be covered under health plans, shots must be approved by the CDC director, and appear on the CDC’s immunization schedule, according to a document from the CDC. According to the CDC, VFC is a federally funded program that provides vaccines to children at no cost to families. The CDC’s immunization schedule for kids is seen as a recommendation for parents and physicians on when certain vaccines should be administered. The schedule also serves as a building block for school districts nationwide, many of whom chose to follow these guidelines as requirements for children to enter public schools. The inclusion of the Covid-19 vaccine on this schedule could give the green signal for school districts to enforce mandates on their students, with some schools across the country pausing their mandates over low vaccination numbers in minors. Many European nations have said that Covid vaccines are not necessary for children. https://thepostmillennial.com/abc-news-investigative-producer-disappears-after-fbi-raid?utm_campaign=64487 ABC News investigative producer disappears after FBI raid, was working on book about Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal An award-winning ABC News national security investigative producer has seemingly gone missing following an FBI raid on his home in April for unclear reasons. James Gordon Meek was in the process of writing a book on the Biden administration's controversial withdrawal from Afghanistan when his neighbors spotted armored vehicles outside of his home, and he hasn't been heard from since. Meek, 52, was best known for his breaking news stories on high levels of corruption within the US military. His bombshell report of the Army’s coverup of the fratricidal death of Pfc. Dave Sharrett II in Iraq landed Meek a meeting with then-President Obama. He seemed to be at the height of his career, with nine years at ABC, a newly-released documentary on Hulu, and a book on the way. That's why so many are baffled at his mysterious and uncharacteristically abrupt disappearance. It was on April 27 of this year when police cruisers and unmarked utility vehicles were spotted blocking the street outside of Meek's Arlington, Virginia apartment building, according to a Rolling Stone report. That was around the time of his last online activity, with one last "like" being sent from his Twitter account on May 2. Since then, he's been silent. An FBI representative confirmed that agents were present that morning "at the 2300 block of Columbia Pike, Arlington, Virginia, conducting court-authorized law-enforcement activity." "The FBI cannot comment further due to an ongoing investigation," they said. A federal magistrate judge signed off on the search warrant the day before the raid. In accordance with a new policy enacted last year, federal prosecutors are not allowed to seize journalists' documents without approval from the Deputy Attorney General, meaning that Biden-appointed Lisa Monaco had to have given her blessing if that's what the raid was for. Despite the bureau's involvement, Meek has not been charged with any crime. Anonymous sources claimed to Rolling Stone that federal agents found classified information on Meek's laptop, but the contents of said information are unknown at this time. His lawyer, Eugene Gorokhov, responded to the claims. "Mr. Meek is unaware of what allegations anonymous sources are making about his possession of classified documents. If such documents exist, as claimed, this would be within the scope of his long career as an investigative journalist covering government wrongdoing. The allegations in your inquiry are troubling for a different reason: they appear to come from a source inside the government. It is highly inappropriate, and illegal, for individuals in the government to leak information about an ongoing investigation. We hope that the DOJ [Department of Justice] promptly investigates the source of this leak." Still, no comment on where exactly his client is. https://hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2022/10/19/abrams-you-can-fight-inflation-by-aborting-more-babies-you-know-n504398 Stacey Abrams suggests having an abortion as solution to inflation: 'Economic realities of having a child' Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams was criticized on Wednesday after suggesting that having an abortion could be a solution to high inflation and claiming that "having children" is why people are worried about the price of gas and groceries. https://twitter.com/i/status/1582726622859624449 - Play Video 0:00-1:32 Abrams made her remarks a day after President Biden pledged that if Democrats keep control of Congress, he will codify in January the federal right to abortion once granted by the recently overturned Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. At no point during the speech did the president, who was a freshman senator nearly 50 years ago when Roe v. Wade was decided in January 1973, mention inflation or the economy. The same day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected a New York Times poll that found voters believe the economy and inflation are the top two issues facing the nation, calling it an “outlier.” Abrams said at the end of September that there was "no such thing" as a fetal heartbeat at 6-weeks. https://thepoliticalinsider.com/fake-news-zelenskys-famous-quote-of-need-ammunition-not-a-ride-never-happened/ Fake News: Zelensky’s Famous Quote of ‘Need Ammunition, Not a Ride’ Never Happened A senior official claims that a famous quote by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky appears to be fake news, war propaganda. The quote about needing ammunition helped catapult his credentials as a defiant wartime leader. The revelation came amidst a sprawling report by the New Yorker on the Biden administration’s support for Ukraine, which is far more extensive than previously known and includes operational planning at the highest levels. But Zelensky’s famous line – “I need ammunition, not a ride” – and the fact that it may have been completely fabricated and promoted by the media ad nauseam casts a further pall on a war narrative that has at times seemed crafted by the heavy hand of a former actor. From the New Yorker: Two days into the invasion, the Associated Press reported that Zelensky had rejected a U.S. offer to evacuate him from Kyiv, saying, “I need ammunition, not a ride.” A senior U.S. official said, “To the best of my knowledge, that never happened.” The official added, “But hats off to Zelensky and the people around him. It was a great line.” If you’re searching for evidence that the American media are perfectly fine with helping to perpetuate falsehoods in the war effort in Ukraine, you need look no further than the Washington Post and fact-checker Glenn Kessler. Kessler analyzed the claim that Zelensky had uttered the quote: “I need ammunition, not a ride.” Though he admitted the claim was not easily verifiable, he concluded using Zelensky’s press secretary that “the quote, even if not accurate, reflects the moment.” At least he tried. The rest of the media simply ran with it. This isn’t the first time stories coming out of Ukraine had proven to be completely orchestrated in an effort to drum up emotional support from the United States. Around the same time as the Zelensky ‘ammunition’ quote, a story was developing about a defiant group of 13 Ukrainian border guards defending Snake Island in the Black Sea who reportedly told a Russian warship to “go f*** yourself” after being ordered to surrender. The 13 Ukrainian border guards were initially widely reported as killed as the Russian warship opened fire with barreled guns and aircraft bombing Snake Island. Zelenskyy said during a press briefing that the guards died “heroes” and even said the 13 would be posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. It was later reported they were still alive and in Russian captivity. Then, of course, there is the infamous ‘Ghost of Kyiv‘ propaganda promoted by some prominent figures here in the United States. Some, like Rep. Adam Kinzinger, were so willing to believe the story they promoted fake images of a meme-character known as Samuel Hyde. It’s breathtaking the number of stories like the Zelensky ammunition fairytale that have been thrust upon the American people as a means to justify the absurd level of financial and military support being offered to Ukraine at our expense. Fox News host Tucker Carlson has seemingly had enough, eviscerating Zelensky for making further outrageous demands for financial aid while the United States economy, and the American people, are suffering. https://twitter.com/i/status/1580717198703611904 - Play Video “Zelenskyy is now shaking down our cowardly Congress for more cash at the very moment our own economy and our own borders are collapsing,” Carlson added.
