In this week's episode we hear from Dr. Sandra West. Dr. West is an optometrist having over 27 years of practice. She also happens to be my own personal physician. I met Dr. West several years ago when I scheduled a routine vision exam and to my surprise and pure delight the doctor was a Black woman. Interestingly enough, when I attended a business conference in New Orleans several months later, we found ourselves meeting again as attendees of the same conference. I invited Dr. West to the show not because she is my personal physician but because of what I knew she could offer Nurah Speaks listeners. Not only does Dr. West explain when we should begin vision checks, but also what our doctors are checking for and some of the latest technology aiding optometrists today. Additionally she shares insights into her own childhood, how she was raised by dynamic parents and what parents can do today to prepare children for future success. Dr. West is an advocate for STEM and vocational training and she is a motivational speaker. Beneath an tiny, stone grave marker in a San Antonio cemetery, lies the remains of Beverly Hills socialite, Sandra West, a woman buried in her favorite lace nightgown at the wheel of her Ferrari...with the seat reclined to a comfortable position, of course. The Old South Pittsburg Hospital was built in 1959 and is located near South Pittsburg Mountain, in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. This was a hospital for the care of the sick, but there are rumors of mistreatment. It was shut down after it was deemed unworthy of providing the quality and amount of care needed in the region. The dilapidated building has stood abandoned ever since. There is a dark history connected to murders and suicide. And that history seems to have led to hauntings. There are those who claim that this location is one of the most haunted in Tennessee. We are joined by Mellanie Ramsey, founder of Military Veterans Paranormal, to discuss the history and hauntings of the Old South Pittsburg Hospital!
