Also Kia im Jahr 2016 den Niro einführte, war er das erste Modell, das ausschließlich mit elektrifizierten Antrieben angeboten wurde. Seit 2022 ist die zweite Generation am Start und auch sie ist erfolgreich. Ein Beweis dafür ist das „Goldene Lenkrad 2022“. Und 2023 gab es für den Niro Plug-in Hybrid, der optisch identisch mit dem Niro Hybrid ist, den Red Dot Award für Produktdesign. Und den hat er sich auch verdient! Darum geht es diesmal!Das Erste, was mir beim unserem aktuellen Testwagen, dem Kia Niro Hybrid aufgefallen ist, war die charakteristische „Aero“ genannte C-Säule in Kontrastfarbe, ein Effekt, der durch die bumerangförmigen LED-Rückleuchten nochmal unterstrichen wird. Überhaupt gefiel mir seine Optik auf Anhieb und das ist schon mal die halbe Miete! Power und Drive!    Wer sich für einen Kia Niro interessiert, der hat aktuell die Wahl zwischen einem Plug-in- und einem Vollhybrid, sowie einem reinen Stromer-Niro. Die Plug-in Version haben wir im vergangenen Jahr vorgestellt, diesmal wurde es der Vollhybrid. Der hat eine Gesamtleistung von 94,9 kW (129 PS), der enthaltene Elektromotor leistet 32-kW- (43,5 PS), die Höchstgeschwindigkeit liegt im reinen E-Betrieb bei 120 Stundenkilometern, im Verbrennerbetrieb – je nach Radgröße – bei 154 bis 160 km/h. Tempo 100 erreicht er nach 11,3 bis 11,7 Sekunden.  Der kombinierte Kraftstoffverbrauch liegt bei 4,4 bis 4,7 l/100 km, die kombinierten CO2-Emissionen zwischen 100 und 107 g/km. Eine sehr gute technische Lösung ist der intelligente „Greenzone Drive Mode“, über den beide Hybridvarianten verfügen. Mit Hilfe des Navigationssystems, erlernter Fahrmuster und historischer Fahrdaten schaltet dieser Modus das Antriebssystem – abhängig von der Batterieladung – automatisch auf reinen Elektrobetrieb, um in bestimmten Situationen ein möglichst emissionsfreies Fahren zu gewährleisten. Werden zum Beispiel Umweltzonen in Wohngebieten oder in der Nähe von Schulen und Krankenhäusern befahren, führt das System den Wechsel in den E- Betrieb auf der Grundlage von Navigations- und historischen Fahrdaten eigenständig durch, sofern der Fahrer einmalig in den Fahrzeugeinstellungen den „Greenzone Drive Mode“ als Präferenz definiert hat.  Die Kosten!Den Kia Niro Hybrid gibt es als Einstiegsversion Edition 7 ab 32.990,00 Euro, die mittlere Version Vision ist ab 34.590,00 Euro zu haben, die Topversion Spirit ab 38.390,00 Euro. Bei seiner Einführung 2016 war der Kia Niro das erste Kia-Modell, das ausschließlich mit elektrifizierten Antrieben angeboten wurde. 2017 folgte eine Plug-in Hybrid Version. Zudem ist der Niro auch als normaler Hybrid zu haben. Im Segment der kompakten Crossover sticht die zweite Niro-Generation durch ihr markantes Design hervor.  Zu den Neuerungen des Modelljahres 2024 gehören eine deutlich größere Auswahl an Zweifarblackierungen sowie eine aktualisierte Infotainment-Software. Darum geht es diesmal!Mit Autos geht es mir oft wie mit Schuhen. Ich will neue Schuhe kaufen, habe drei Paar vor mir, probiere das erste Paar und das passt wie angegossen.  So etwas passiert mir hin und wieder auch bei einem neuen Auto. Gerade hatte ich dieses Gefühl bei dem aktuellen Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid. Der war wie für mich gemacht. Power und Drive!    Einmal abgesehen davon, dass mir der Wagen mit seiner Zweifarblackierung ausgesprochen gut gefällt, hat mich auch sein Fahrverhalten angesprochen. Aktuell umfasst die Niro-Familie zwei Hybridvarianten, Plug-in- und Vollhybrid, sowie den reinen Stromer Niro EV. Zum Test stand aus dieser Palette der Plug-in-Hybrid bereit. Schauen wir uns mal seine Werte an. Mit dem Wechsel auf die neue Generation hat die aufladbare Hybridvariante des Niro einen deutlich leistungsfähigeren Elektroantrieb inklusive größerem Akku erhalten. So steht nun eine Gesamtleistung von 134,6 kW (183 PS) zur Verfügung. Rein elektrisch ist er bis zu 134 Kilometer schnell und hat so eine Reichweite bis zu 65 Kilometer nach WLTP. Schaltet man das Sechs-Stufen-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (DCT) in den Rückwärtsgang, fährt man rein elektrisch. Vorwärts ist der Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid nach 9,6 Sekunden bei Tempo 100 angekommen, in der Spitze schafft er 168 Kilometer pro Stunde. Der kombinierte Verbrauch liegt bei 1,3 Litern Kraftstoff und 10,5 kWh Strom pro 100 Kilometer. An einer Ladestation mit 240 V und 3,3 kW lässt sich die Batterie in 175 Minuten von 10 auf 100 % laden. Die Innenausstattung!Schon die Basisausstattung des Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid überzeugt. Neben einer Reihe von sinnvollen Assistenzsystemen sind unter anderem ein 26-cm-Navigationssystem (10,25 Zoll), eine Zwei-Zonen-Klimaautomatik, Sitzheizung vorn, ein beheizbares Lenkrad, elektrische Fensterheber vorn und hinten, Rückfahrkamera und Parksensoren hinten serienmäßig an Bord.  In der von uns getesteten Topversion Spirit gehören zudem auch ein Premium-Soundsystem, elektrisch einstellbare Vordersitze mit Lendenwirbelstütze, Dual-LED-Scheinwerfer, eine sensorgesteuerte elektrische Heckklappe und einiges mehr zur Serienausstattung. Die Kosten!Den Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid gibt es ja nach Ausstattung zwischen 38.690,00 und 44.090,00 Euro. Dann ist der Wagen schon sehr gut ausgestattet. The second-generation Kia Niro can be had as a fully electric vehicle with a solid range of 253 miles. It's got style to put a smile on your face when walking up to it. And it's a practical hatchback (though the Kia marketing team wants you to see it as an SUV). But no car is perfect and Niro is up against cars that charge faster and cost less. Tom Voelk checks out a top trim Wave model just outside of San Diego, CA and finds it to be quiet and comfortable.

The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V is one of the most important vehicles to be launched in the United States this year, and we'll have a special report. The CR-V compact SUV was one of the industry's original “crossover vehicles.” And for the past quarter century, it has consistently built sales momentum to become one of the most popular vehicles in the Honda lineup. In fact, Honda claims the CR-V has been the bestselling of all SUVs of any size since it was introduced in the 1990s. The 2023 CR-V marks the beginning of the vehicle's sixth generation. It's available in front-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations and powered by either a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a hybrid drivetrain. In comparison to the previous-generation CR-V, the 2023 is longer and wider than before and 15 percent torsionally stiffer as well. This gives it a good basis for the tuning of its heavily revised suspension. Host Jack Nerad had the chance to drive both the conventional and hybrid versions of the CR-V during North American Car of the Year testing this past week in Michigan. He'll have a detailed driving report and guest co-host Geno Effler, Director of Corporate Communications at J.D. Power, will give his consumer-based perspective on Honda and the CR-V. This week's interview segment features a discussion with Mark Savino, who is the Product Strategy Manager for SUVs and Trucks at Kia. He and Jack Nerad will take a very detailed look at the all-new 2023 Kia Niro. Available as an EV, a plug-in hybrid, and a hybrid, the Niro seems poised to graduate from specialty-car status to become a more mainstream offering. In this era of high gasoline prices and runaway inflation, the Niro seems right on target for the times. In the wake of Hurricane Ian, thousands of flood-damaged cars and trucks will enter the new and used car markets in the next several weeks. And they can become nightmares for those who buy them without suspecting that they could experience big problems. We'll tell you how you can avoid being burned by one of those vehicles coming up. Also in the news, Toyota is considering a big increase in its production of battery-electric vehicles, but if it happens it won't come right away. Instead, Toyota has a future date in mind. We'll tell you what that date is and why Toyota thinks that's a good place to start. And formal talks have begun between representatives of the European Union and the United States as the result of the passage of the Inflation Act, which could have a devastating effect on the sales of electric vehicles in the United States. That brings the total to 9.6 million shares after earlier disclosures detailed earlier stock sales worth $4 billion on Tuesday and Wednesday. - The stock sales in total amounted to 5% of his stake in Tesla - Musk still owns nearly 16% of Tesla shares, according to FactSet data cited by the Wall Street Journal. Chevy says that last quarter it changed 26,952 battery packs. - Another document issued for 2021 through 2022 model year affected Chevy Bolts shows that these newer cars haven't received new batteries yet - just 701 swaps were performed out of a total 52,414 pool of affected vehicles. - Owners of Bolt EVs equipped with the new battery are also reporting a range increase with the fresh pack. Lockdowns in China have worsened the visibility of semiconductors and the logistics have become the next challenge for Tata Motors given the lack of availability of containers, he said. - The impact of the chip shortage is more “acute” in electric vehicles than gasoline models, Chandra said. Volvo is turning itself into a completely new brand with a strong emphasis on EVs. The latest example of that is the all-new Volvo C40 Recharge, a vehicle we got a chance to test drive in the desert of Southern California. Kristina Vasandani, Volvo Senior Product Manager, is an expert on the C40 Recharge EV, and Host Jack Nerad got the chance to talk with her at length about the new car and how it fits into Volvo's plans to concentrate heavily on electric vehicles.
