As a rival machine, the Darilbalde is an interesting example of how mobile suit aesthetic has changed. Certainly, part of it is down to Ippei Gyoubu's art style, but the bulky elegance of the Darilbalde, its spears and shields, it's a far cry from the Zaku II Commander Type. Here is a link to a Google Drive folder of images we reference that aren't easy to find, as well as Schizophonic's review of the Schwarzette. All the world's a hero, and we merely lost in this ill-considered and half-baked "joke." You know, one of the best parts of this episode is getting to provide context for the historical figures these machines are based on- I wish I'd done more of that in the first World Heroes ep! Once you see these designs you'll love em so much you'll build a tower to em like Cao Cao! ...sorry, that was also nothing. Not bringing my best material today. Oh Geri Halliwell, you creative genius, thank you for the music! James and John talk all things Ginger Spice, starting with her pre Spice Girl departure and giving their opinions on where she shined best within the group. Touching on her younger years as presenter and topless model on Page 3, they then have to wonder if "Look At Me" was a reference to those early days, they certainly know it's about putting Ginger to rest, as per the iconic music video where Geri holds her own funeral. More hits came out of Schizophonic, like "Lift Me Up" (with that whackadoodle music video) and "Bag It UP" an absolute pop stunner, especially with that Brit Awards live performance. Ginger certainly knows how to entertain. James and John have varied opinions about the second album era with songs like "Scream If You Wanna Go Faster" and "Calling". They do notice a lot of other artists seem to have stolen some of Geri's creative genius though, picking things from her music videos as signatures, we are look at you Ariana Grande. Then comes the "Ride It" and the third album "Passion", but was Geri losing her passion at this point? From books to Tv shows and Christian music, wait what?! Yes, James think that 4th unreleased album has some Jesus undertones. Geri Halliwell becomes Geri Horner and they have to wonder if we'll ever see her with red hair ever again? Maybe she did bury Ginger after all. BRING HER BACK.
In anticipation for the Spice Girls' 2019 reunion tour, David and Joel take a wine-filled trip back to the iconic Solo Spice Girls era between 1998 and 2000. After Geri leaving the band in 1998, the stage was set for an exciting and hectic two-and-a-half years which saw 21 Spice-related records fired out, spawning five solo careers, two heated chart battles, and millions of singles sold worldwide. We take a look at the launch of Mel B's R&B-flavoured solo career, Geri's headline-snatching "Schizophonic" era including the unforgettable 2000s Brit Awards moment, Melanie C's confident and critically-nodded "Northern Star" debut, and Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham's tentative first steps out with 'What I Am' and 'Out of Your Mind'... and all that's in between! Prepare to immerse yourself in the chaos and colour of overlapping solo and Spice Girls campaigns as five individuals make their mark, while a third Spice Girls album - "Forever" - looms large. Love the Spice Girls? Pod of the Pops celebrates their career ahead of the 2019 reunion tour. Go get yourself wet girls, I know you want to! Geri Halliwell was the first to leave the Spice Girls in 1998 proving that friendship never ends, unless, like, you know, you’re not feeling it anymore. She started the year with a hand written note from Prince Charles and would go on to sing at his 50th. Of course, she sang Happy Birthday – Marilyn Monroe style – and blew him a little kiss. That same year, she became a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Yes, a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Of course, all of this was documented in the documentary – Geri by Molly Dineen. It’s a pretty hard hitting doc. Raw. She was the first to release a solo album – Schizophonic. It had a rough start but went on to feature 3 number 1 singles and chart in America. In this episode we also talk about: Geris 4 number one singles. That was (at the time) more than any other British Female Solo artist. Do you know who has beaten her since? Geris 3 albums, including Scream if you wanna go faster and Passion. schizo/- split phonic/- of sound, acoustic: of vocal sounds Today is my 30 birthday and I coudn't be happier to release my new podcast Schizophonic, this is a very special one as it represents a new cycle in my life full of good energy and good people around me. That reflects in my music and in the vocals I choose carefully during my searching around. Masterpieces of the producers Esteban Lopez, Binomio, Micky Friedman, Pedro Pons, Isak Salazar, Yan Bruno, David Tort... to count a few! They are my inspiration and who I want to be when I grow up (a little more) haha. Hope you all enjoy listening to this as I did recording (I tried more than 20 times to find the right order haha).
