"Dance With Me" The married Michigan duo of Annagail are hard to categorize because of their startling musical range. With The Smiths, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris and The Foo Fighters, Annagail's running through their musical DNA, Jared and Jennifer aren't afraid of a folk song or a pop song or a blues song or a roots song. It's fair to say that they're not afraid of anything. More on that in a minute. Filled with aching harmonies, wistful ballads, tender country and infectious hooks, Annagail, who used to operate under the moniker Route Three, may be tough to pin down in terms of genre, so it's easier to simply say they're brilliant at what they do and they do all of it. Jared and Jennifer have a musical symbiosis that's undeniable and profound and a tenth of their personal challenges would be enough to keep someone on the sidelines forever, but not these two. They've not only survived a list of hardships--and I'll let the interview cover that material, but just so you get an idea of how long and serious that list is, we didn't even cover the fire that destroyed their home and and studio--they've emerged from the darkness bursting with light. I'm not joking. But that word joking might be the key here; they have a sense of humor that has allowed them to navigate the trials they've encountered with perspective and wisdom and grace. I love this band. And not only is this a cool chat because they're open and lovely people, it's cool because we've caught them emerging from yet another scary moment with a renewed commitment to their craft. In many ways, this might be the most prolific period in the band's history. In fact, they have so many new albums, I'm not even sure what their latest one is. All I know is their music smolders with soulful resolve, sweeping momentum and harmonic and narrative poise. The BG's are out in the streets this week. Between her ‘Watch What Happens Live' Show Debut and her live show at Joe's pub tonight, Anna has a lot of appearances to recap. She details her WWHL experience and the two wigs she brought to life behind the bar. Dre is in her resume builder era and started dance lessons at the well known Dance With Me studio. Speaking of lessons, Anna fondly recalls her saxophone days and Dre only remembers one song on the piano. To pay proper respects, Anna hit up the infamous Times Square ‘Forever 21' that's closing down and quickly discovered she and many other people shared a lot of 2am tipsy memories at that location. Ahhh yesss the Memz. Then they get into their TV shows and Morgan Wallen's awkward SNL stage walk-off. I guess he was just trying to “Get To Gods Country.” Plus, they talk the new season of “Farmer Wants A Wife,” which is…exactly what it sounds like. Justice has been served as it was announced that convicted murderer, Yolanda, was denied bail. Damn straight. All that and Benny Bianco's viral toe nail art. Gross? Phaase Bio Rapidly making his way onto the scene, Harry Thomas A.K.A PHAASE is a Bristol-based producer creating Drum and Bass bangers for the masses. Growing up in the outskirts of Bristol, Harry started experimenting with music production at the age of 12 at a Logic Pro workshop where he started making House and Dubstep, posting tracks on SoundCloud. A decade on, PHAASE is stepping up to the decks to play screwface-inducing Jump Up, Rollers and Dancefloor Drum and Bass tunes from his own catalogue anywhere from Bristol to Paris. In 2020, PHAASE dropped his melodic jump up track Was It Worth It (Self-Release) featuring the vocals of Bath-based singer Cazzy, which shortly after release received support on BBC Radio 1. Following this success, collaborating with vocalists became a part of his workflow for many of his future works, leading to him working with M4DZ and Frilla on his Dance With Me EP (Subwoofah). This EP set the precedent of PHAASE's new sound, with screechy basslines, foghorns and distorted 808s. The EP was well supported, with downloads from Aries, DC Breaks, DJ SS, Ed Solo, Euphonique, Jaguar, Mandidextrous and Nicky Blackmarket to name a few. With support from these artists, tracks from the EP were played to crowds at the biggest festivals in the country, such as Glastonbury and Boomtown. The title track from Dance With Me was also later included on Euphonique & Dazee's Welcome To The Jungle compilation on Jungle Cakes. But PHAASE isn't slowing down any time soon. With countless dubs ready to shatter dancefloors worldwide, you can expect an intense wall of sound and tekky blends and mixes at a PHAASE show. TJA Bio TJA is a versatile songwriter and vocalist. She draws on influences found in her jazz background and her upbringing around Caribbean music. TJA adopts her initials as her alias to maintain a strong connection to her roots as she breaks through the music industry. TJA is a new performance artist in the drum and bass scene and her intentions are to bring people closer to themselves, by showcasing vulnerability in her lyrics and offering her soulful melodies to connect her audience to a higher vibration.

Before they morphed into a lower-tier hair hunk outfit, T.S.O.L. (True Sounds of Liberty) were a troublemakin' L.A. punk band. Their debut album Dance With Me is an under-the-radar banger that replaces the anarchist anti-Reagan punk bend of the time with humorous songs about death in various forms.

John Hall is a founding member of the band Orleans and one of the main instigators of the No Nukes and MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy) movements. He's been intimately involved in promoting social change and environmental advocacy, both as a private citizen and as an elected representative in Congress. John was studying piano at 5, playing French horn, guitar bass and drums by 12. He started playing in the clubs of Greenwich Village by 18 and at 21 wrote and directed music for a Broadway and Off-Broadway play. He then worked on numerous projects including Seals and Crofts' album Down Home. He toured with Taj Mahal and when he came home, started the band that would become Orleans in 1972. Moving to Woodstock NY with his wife Johanna, the pair began writing together. They had major hits ‘Dance With Me' and ‘Still The One', songs that have garnered 9 million terrestrial airplays and hundreds of millions of streams. John has also co-written songs for Janis Joplin, Millie Jackson, Bonnie Raitt, The Tymes, Chaka Khan and Chet Atkins among others. He co-founded the group Musicians United for Safe Energy and helped organise the 1979 No Nukes concerts at Madison Square Garden. His song 'Power' was its anthem, performed and recorded there by the Doobie Brothers with James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Carly Simon, Nicolette Larson, Phoebe Snow, and many more. That song was also sung by Peter Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger and others. John's guitar playing was featured on albums by Browne, Raitt, Carly Simon, Little Feat and more. In the 90s the John Hall Band recorded two LPs: Search Party and All Of The Above, which contained the AOR and MTV staple Crazy (Keep On Fallin').  Environmental activism led John to serve on several boards. In 2006 he was elected to the US House of Representatives and also served on the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. Returning to private life in 2011, John continued to perform and record with Orleans and as a solo artist. During the pandemic, he wrote and recorded songs for his latest CD “Reclaiming My Time.” John Hall joins us this week as special guest to share the stories (and the music) from his life.
