The Supremes, Bananarama, All Saints, Girls Aloud, TLC, The Bangles, B*Witched, Sugababes, En Vogue og de største af dem alle Spice Girls. Playliste: The Ronettes - Be my baby The Supremes - Baby love LaBelle - Lady Marmalade Bananarama - Venus The Bangles - Walk like an Egyptian En Vogue - My lovin' (You're never gonna get it) SWV - Right here TLC - Waterfalls Spice Girls - Wannabe Spice Girls - Spice up your life All Saints - Never ever B*Witched - C'est la vie TLC - No scrubs Destiny's Child - Say my name Atomic Kiiten - Whole again EyeQ - I want what she's got Sugababes - Round and round Girls Aloud - Sound of the underground The Pussycat Dolls feat. In Part Two of our London Marathon special, Kitty Scott-Claus stays in The Clubhouse for a deeper conversation about life beyond the start line. After discussing marathon preparation in Part One, Rob and Kitty turn to Kitty's journey as a performer — from growing up in Sutton Coldfield and training in musical theatre, to discovering drag almost by accident and becoming one of the standout stars of RuPaul's Drag Race UK.Kitty explains how drag first entered her life through a Girls Aloud tribute night in Camden, why the Spice Girls were a huge inspiration, and how Drag Race unexpectedly transformed her career. She reflects on competing on the show, returning for Global All Stars, and navigating a drag scene that has become increasingly competitive. The conversation also explores the reality behind the glamour — the graft required to build a career after Drag Race, handling social media criticism, and staying visible in a fast-moving entertainment world. Kitty also shares highlights from her career so far, including reaching the final of Celebrity MasterChef, performing in the West End production Death Drop, and touring the UK with fellow Drag Race star Cheryl Hole in their live show “The Cheryl & Kitty Show.”With the London Marathon just days away, Kitty also talks about how swimming, running and fitness have become an important part of her life alongside performing. If you'd like to support Kitty's fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK, or see her live on tour in The Cheryl & Kitty Show, you can find links below or via our linktr.ee/stagedoorathleticDonate to Alzheimer's Research UK - https://2026tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/kitty-scott-clausBook tickets for The Cheryl & Kitty Show - https://www.aegpresents.co.uk/event/the-cheryl-kitty-show/Like, follow and share your Marathon memories @StageDoorAthletic#KittyScottClaus#DragRaceUK#LondonMarathon#CelebrityMasterChef#CherylAndKittyShowHosts: Jack Loxton & Rob Shaw CameronGuests: Kitty Scott-ClausEdited by: Rob Shaw CameronStage Door Athletic is a [NON]FICTION PEOPLE Podcast © [NON]FICTION PEOPLE LtdPRS Licence: LC-002182Visit our website for more information on this and other great podcasts.Published by RiversideFM5, 6, 7, 8 - Steps ℗ 1998 Sony Music Entertainment UK LimitedIslands In the Stream - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton ℗ Compilation 2007 SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT

Graham Coath chats with Katrina-Marie Howson, known simply as Katrina, about a life shaped by big pop dreams, creative ambition, and a determination to make music on her own terms. In this episode, Katrina shares how she grew up in a music-loving household, why Girls Aloud made such an impact on her, and how performing has been part of her life since she was six years old. She talks openly about studying performing arts, never really having a Plan B, and why music has always felt like the thing she was meant to do.The conversation moves through early influences, family support, auditioning for The X Factor as part of a girl group, and the reality of trying to build a music career in a world now driven by TikTok, numbers, visibility and constant content creation. Katrina also reflects on the double workload of being an independent artist, where writing songs is only one part of the job. There is plenty of personality here, too, from touring fantasies involving pets with their own security to thoughts on social media, online shopping, manifestation, and the dream of one day collaborating with Nicki Minaj.Katrina also talks about her single Pick Me Girl, her upcoming album, and the themes running through the new music, including self-belief, taboo subjects, honesty, emotion and writing songs that listeners can truly see themselves in.It is a fun, warm and honest conversation about pop, purpose, ambition and what it takes to keep going when the dream still feels bigger than the moment.

Five years on from the first Covid lockdown, what can be done to support the 200,000 ‘Lockdown babies' born when lockdown was at its most restrictive, between 23 March and 4 July 2020? These babies have extraordinary young-life stories: Mums giving birth alone; doctors in hazmat suits; babies meeting fathers and grandparents for the first time online; no health visitors; no family cuddles; no baby groups. Now aged four and approaching five, lockdown seems to have had lasting effects on some. What can be done to help? Nuala McGovern is joined by Nicola Botting, Professor of Developmental Disorders at City St George's, University of London and co-lead on The Born in Covid Year – Core Lockdown Effects (BICYCLE) study, Jane Harris, CEO of Speech and Language UK, and mum of three, Frankie Eshun.Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding died of breast cancer in 2021 at the age of 39. Inspired by her desire to find new ways of spotting the disease earlier, the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Young Women (BCAN-RAY) study was set up in May 2023. Led by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust with funding from the Christie Charity, Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal, and other charities, it is one of the world's first research programmes to identify breast cancer risks in younger women without a family history of the disease. Nuala speaks to Anna Housley, who has taken part in the study.Nuala talks to Emma van Straaten, whose 10,000 word entry, This Immaculate Body, won the inaugural Women's Prize Discoveries in 2021, an award set up to inspire unagented and unpublished women in the UK and Ireland to write their first novels. That submission is now a published book - It is about Alice, who has been cleaning Tom's flat for over a year, and becomes infatuated with him, a man she has never met.A new TV series, Chess Masters, started last week on BBC2. It's badged as Bake Off with kings and queens. Camilla Lewis, the woman behind the new show, was inspired to create it by her teenage daughter, Jasmine, who became obsessed with the game during lockdown. They join Nuala to talk about how to turn a board game into must-watch television.Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Rebecca Myatt

The perfect pop star needs to have many attributes, rock solid songs, eye catching style, photogenic glamour and of course the type of personality that jumps off the page. Very few contenders manage to tick all of these boxes but when they do they make an impression on society that leaves an indelible mark. Alison Clarkson's alter ego Betty Boo had all these qualities in spades. Her music was magnetic, her style iconic and her personality projected confidence and rebellion, so much so that when the pop Svengali Chris Herbert decided to form the all conquering Spice Girls his brief was to find 5 Betty Boos. However Betty Boo was not the manufactured pop star you might expect, rather she was a determined young woman who studied audio production, wrote her own songs and fell in love with Hip-Hop at precisely the right time. After a period in the limelight Betty stepped back into the studio and continued to create music with the likes of Blur, Girls Aloud, Hear-say, Danni Minogue and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Now back with a bang Betty Boo has a new album 'Rip up the rulebook' and her sound has matured but retains that dash of rebellious optimism that we all fell in love with back in the day.It really is a pleasure to welcome the one and only Betty Boo to What Goes Around. Before that Eamon gets infuriated about Stax Records and then finds refuge at a DONK Rave.Betty in Maccie D's with the PE!https://youtu.be/8PSbg7ynGqM?si=Ff5Q93SUO5jpeuOY Hosted on Acast.
