Sometimes, if we are honest with ourselves, we might question somebody's motives. We wonder why they are doing what they are. Surely, they must want something or must have an angle that we are simply not aware of. However, wondering about someone's motives isn't always a negative thing. In fact, as Christians, the people around us should wonder about us. They should wonder why we are living the way we are. They should ask us why we do things the way we do. We want them to know our motivation. Because the fact of the matter is, we should be living the way that we do because of who Jesus is and because of the fact that He died for us on the cross. This week, as we celebrate Resurrection Sunday, we learn from God's Word what redemption truly means and how it should affect our everyday living so that people wonder about our motive to live a life that is holy and set apart.

Our final message in a months-long sermon series on Vision. We review and discuss 1 Peter 1:13-21 and the idea that our hope in Christ should produce in us a holiness of life…not because we are following God from a legalistic view but because the love of God and the judgement of God and the hope we have in Christ will literally change how we choose to live our lives. A fantastic message that is extremely relevant to the world we live in today and the challenges that all believers face to be conformed to the world.

Jesus' encounters with people weren’t about him and communicating his purpose; they were about the people he was encountering. These people were the living embodiment of his purpose. Whenever he entered into a conversation with someone he just met, he did so with one motive: to identify their agenda, and meet them in it with Spirit-powered love. He never used his words to mask a hidden motive because he didn’t have one. Instead, he was a servant listening to identify and understand the need of the person so he could meet it. Jesus talked with people without personal agenda. He was sincere, and those who encountered him remarked on his ‘authority,’ his command of the situation, his substantiality. They found him intriguing, refreshing, irresistible . . . authentic. He stood apart.
