From the life of Moses, we learn that God calls in His TIMING and in His WAY, God uses IMPERFECT people for His MISSION, and God EQUIPS those He CALLS.
God decides how he wants to save his people. His Way is always better than what we can imagine.Exodus 6:6-7 6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. A few weeks ago, my husband Corey joined me on the podcast to discuss biblical marriage and what it truly means to put God at the center of our relationship.I want to start by being honest. Before Jesus truly took hold of my heart, I blamed my husband for every negative thing in my life—our struggles, our marriage, everything. But through God's grace, he encouraged me to take radical accountability for my actions, leading me through a powerful journey of sanctification.Just a few weeks ago, he said to me, “You are pure before me, but you are not healed.”I know God loves me and deeply cares about our healing. That's why we turn to scripture, like in 1 Thessalonians 4:3, which reminds us: "It is God's will that you be sanctified."God had plans for my process of sanctification—plans for my purity, my transformation.Sanctification: The process of becoming more like Christ, set apart for His purpose. It is God's will that I walk through this transformation, and if that's His will for me, it's His will for YOU, too.So, where are you in your own process of sanctification?(On a scale from "I don't know what that means" to "I'm in this process, but it's daunting and I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere.")Know this: Jesus will draw you closer to Him, and our convictions will guide us in His Way. My prayer is that you embrace the process of sanctification as a road to your continued growth and that you see him in every single step. _____________________________________Seeking a greater relationship with Jesus but don't know where to start? In this episode, we talk about spiritual mentorship and being formed in Jesus. We reflect on the spiritual mentors who have journeyed with us and share stories about the lessons that have shaped who we are today. We also talk about why comparison crushes our ability to receive, our calling to make disciples of all nations, and how the daily witness of our lives is an answer to this call. And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? After his initial prayer (v1-7), he moves into a meditation on God's attributes & acts, to fuel his prayers (v8-10): “Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, He teaches sinners in the WAY (of holiness)” (v8). In His goodness, He works to save us all from destruction, but only the humble receive His instruction, for they know their need of guidance and are willing to submit to God's will. The proud go their own way, thinking they don't need God. “The HUMBLE He guides in justice (righteousness), and the humble He teaches His WAY” (v9). The key to guidance is humility, asking God to show us His way. “All the PATHS of the Lord are MERCY and TRUTH (faithfulness), to such as keep (are loyal to) His covenant and His testimonies” (v10). We're in a covenant grace relationship with God, but to enjoy His presence & blessing, we must be loyal to God and keep His Covenant, walking in love & truth. If we don't, we can't have His Presence. Based on this meditation, he makes this PRAYER: “For Your NAME's sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, for it is great” (v11). God's Name is His revealed character (v8-10). He asks God to pardon his great iniquity according to His Name (His faithfulness to forgive those who repent). Also, He pardons us for His Name's sake, for His glory, as He is glorified by our salvation. As Absalom's rebellion brought his past sins back to mind, he had to deal with condemning thoughts, so makes sure he has fully repented and received full forgiveness. Then he meditates on the BENEFITS of the FEAR of the Lord (v12-14): “Who is the man that FEARS the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses” (v12). The fear of God is the beginning of knowledge & wisdom (Prov 1:7, 9:10). “He himself shall dwell in prosperity (lit: goodness), and his descendants shall inherit the earth (possess the land)” (v13). “The SECRET (or friendship) of the Lord is with those who FEAR Him, and He will SHOW (reveal & manifest to) them His covenant.” Fearing God brings us into His intimate circle, to whom He shares His secrets, as with Abraham (2Chr 20:7, Isa 41:8, Jas 2:23). The closer we come to Him, the more He reveals & manifests Himself to us. We can't comprehend spiritual things apart from the Spirit; we need His Presence in our soul to perceive & receive spiritual things (1Cor 2:12-15). Without Him we're like a blind & deaf man. To explain His secrets to those without the Spirit is like describing colours to a blind man. It's by submission to (fear of) God we receive the Spirit into our soul (Is 11:2,3). Thus, it is the beginning of wisdom & knowledge. This meditation (v12-14) built his faith, resulting in a DECLARATION of FAITH: “My eyes are ever toward the Lord (looking to God in expectation), for He shall pluck (lit: bring out) my feet out of the net” (v15). As David speaks, his enemies have already set a net for him, for Absalom's armies were closing in on him, but he trusts God for victory. His final PRAYER (v16-22): “TURN Yourself to me, and have MERCY on me” (v16a). He says: "I am looking to You (v15), please look at me and smile on me, and release Your radiant Presence on me, flood me with your grace." “for I am desolate (lonely) and afflicted” (v16b). He reminds God how much he needs Him for most Israel had turned against him. “The troubles of my heart have enlarged; bring me out of my distresses! Look on my affliction and my pain, and forgive all my sins” (v17-18). Again, he admits his sins are behind many of his problems, so asks for mercy to overcome the effects and forgiveness for any unknown sins. “Consider my enemies, for they are many; and they hate me with cruel (violent) hatred. Keep my soul, and deliver me; let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You” (v19-20, cf. v2). “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me (this is his own integrity) for I wait for You” (v21, cf. v1). He knew his need to walk before God with integrity (a whole heart), to stay in His Presence to be protected & delivered. He knows it's God's Presence that preserves Him, but we need to walk with God to abide under His Presence. He's not trusting in his own integrity (“for I wait for You”), but in God. The acrostic ends at v21, then in v22 his prayer expands to Israel as a whole. It was not just the future of David on the line, but all God's people: “REDEEM (ransom) Israel, O God, out of all their troubles!” (v22). He understood all blessings for which he'd prayed, are only available on the basis of the payment of a price. This is a prayer for the coming of the Redeemer, who would redeem Israel & all God's people by His Blood. Christ alone can bring the full forgiveness & restoration desired in this prayer by His (1) Blood (1st Coming) and (2) Power (2nd Coming). He prayed Ps 25 in his time of trouble and God answered him, but v22 expands it to all of Israel's troubles, including her final & full restoration, so we can also pray it with confidence.

By David Metzel - We need to be wise Christians. God has called us to be ambassadors to properly represent Him and His Way and to be lights to the world. Peter tells us we need to be able to give an answer when we are asked. It takes wisdom to answer properly and to be a light.

We all know about prayer, talking to God. But how do we listen to Him? As it turns out, God has a “channel” on which he broadcasts His Way. Do you know how to find it? Having found it, do you listen to it? In this presentation, Tuning to God's Channel, we will explore ways to hear what God has for each of us.
Everything we need to know, everything we need to do, every help and healing we need to find are right here in this word from Jesus, “Continue in my word!”In our day, we hear the word “continue” and probably we think about moving or going forward, being in motion. But that is not the meaning of Jesus here. The word continue, even in our day, does not first imply moving at all, but rather, just as Jesus is saying to us, it means to remain, to stay where you are (And of course, if we find that we are not there, then we need to move, get there, and then stay). And of course, if we do this, if we remain in Christs' word, which is to say in obedience and faith, then we will move forward in Christ's word.We might want to continue in deepening our faith, continue to increase our knowledge of God and his will, continue to be involved and invested in the Great Commission, but more than just continuing in terms of doing things, to really continue with passion and total surrender to God, to continue in living as though we really do believe that all of this life is about the mission we are here for until we are called to our true home! This is the Way of Jesus! And he has shown us in this chapter, John 8, His Way of Continuing!

This week, Brendan, Nathan, Steven B and Johnny Spandrell penetrate the heart of the Vatican, only to discover that behind its dusty and arcane lore lies an eldritch horror that threatens the very idea of existence itself. It's Extremis. Notes and links The most important inspiration here is Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code (2003), a massively popular and widely-panned thriller about a dark secret that threatens the credibility of the Catholic Church itself (but probably not the one you're thinking of). Perhaps this review of the book will give you a good sense of its style. It turns out that the dark secret in The Da Vinci code was originally revealed in 1982 in a best-selling book called The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail (or in the US, more pithily, Holy Blood, Holy Grail). This book was, terrifyingly but unsurprisingly, co-written by our very own Henry Lincoln, co-writer of The Abominable Snowmen, The Web of Fear and The Dominators. Steven remembers the first Doctor talking about his religious beliefs in a passage from The Empire of Glass (1995) by Andy Lane. Here, in Chapter 6, the Doctor is talking to Galileo. “In short, sir, I am currently an agnostic, and by the time my life draws to its close, and I have travelled from one side of the universe to the other and seen every sight there is to see, I firmly expect to be an atheist. Does that answer your question?” In a recent episode of The Bjay BJ Game Show, Brendan and Bjay review a game called The Talos Principle, a video game set in a computer simulation which deals with questions of identity and religion. Nathan has a website called the Randomiser at therandomiser.net, which can help you pick a random Doctor Who story to watch, but which can also (more importantly, perhaps) reassure you that you're not living in a computer simulation. The properly randomised Doctor Who podcast which Nathan appeared on is called Pull to Open, with Pete Pachal and Chris Taylor. As a kind of public service, Steven alerts us to a 2015 article by Charlie Brooker about a group of German researchers created a version of Super Mario World in which Mario was self-aware and emotionally affected by his experiences in the game. Steven also draws our attention to a branch of philosophy concerned with the possibility that we might all be living in a computer simulation. This 2020 article in Scientific American sums up the state of play. Johnny refers to Kit Pedler's original conception of the Cybermen as a race of Star Monks — an idea that El Sandifer runs with in a productive and interesting way in her essay on The Tenth Planet. Johnny Spandrell takes aim at this story in an entertaining and insightful blog post on Extremis, written in 2018. Here's a link to the Character Options Series 10 action figure set, featuring the Doctor, Bill and a heavily made up Missy, for those of you who enjoy that kind of thing. And finally, here's Donna Summer singing about this story forty years early in Once Upon a Time…. It's first season came out early this year, under the title New Beginnings. Check it out. It will be back for a second season early in 2025. The Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire has broadcast our hot takes on every new episode of Doctor Who since November last year, and it will be back again in 2025 for Season 2. Just two weeks ago, on Startling Barbara Bain, we faced what is perhaps the most memorable and terrifying episode of Space: 1999 ever with our usual mix of valour and prosecco. It's Dragon's Domain. And finally there's our Star Trek commentary podcast, Untitled Star Trek Project, featuring Nathan and friend-of-the-podcast Joe Ford. This week, we visited a holographic jazz bar in Vegas in 1962 for a surpassingly brilliant episode of Deep Space Nine called His Way.

Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. ————— There's all kind of stories in Bible that show what happens when people don't do things God's way. Cain probably knew what kind of sacrifice God desired, but he did it his way and offered God his own kind of sacrifice – and God rejected both Cain and his offering. After the flood God told the people multiply and FILL the earth. Instead they did it their way settled in one spot and built the tower of Babel. God came down and scattered the people and confused their languages. Abraham was promised that he and Sarah would have a child, but Sarah was getting old and impatient. So Abraham listened to her and did things her way and he had a child by her servant Hagar. They ended up with serious family troubles. ————— Scripture repeatedly warns us, it doesn't work to try and do it MY WAY… that's not a good idea! It's not God's plan or will for you life. “There is a way that seems right to a man, (he does it HIS WAY), but its end is the way to death.”

Choosing the Hard Way Today's passage is so beautiful as in just one verse Jesus summarizes the intent of all 613 O.T. commands, getting to the very heart of how faith and love for God is to be lived out. It is well called the Golden Rule. Matthew 7:12-14 The first reason believers practice the golden rule is to fight our sin nature. The second reason believers practice the golden rule is to be used of God to meet needs. The Golden Rule that sums up Old Testament Law - V. 12 Practicing the golden rule is not just basic good treatment of others, it incorporates the “going the extra mile” and “loving your enemies” language Jesus already gave in this sermon. The golden rule is all about the flourishing of your relationships with the Lord and other humans. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” - Matt. 22:37-40 A person who loves and fears God will be characterized by: Obeying the Golden Rule Loving God with all their heart and loving their neighbor as themselves For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. - Romans 10:4 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. - Romans 13:10 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” - Galatians 5:14 Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully. - 1 Tim. 1:8 Where should our commitment to do unto others begin? With the right to life. In the O.T. we see God sometimes regulate what He didn't condone, things like divorce and slavery, to keep people from being taken advantage of. That all stems from Genesis 1, where we learn that ALL people are created in the image and likeness of God, all with inherent value! William Wilberforce understood that slavery was a moral evil and needed to end. He did three things at once. He helped those affected by slavery. He educated the empire about the moral evil of slavery. He got law after law passed year after year that cut slavery back until it was ended. Another clear moral wrong addressed in the Bible is abortion. The Bible makes clear that life begins at conception and we are not to kill innocent life. Doing unto others begins with promoting the cause of life. A nation that kills its babies won't have a good record with do unto others. The rise of selfishness and disrespect and violence toward others in our nation starts with the cheapened value of human life. Choosing to follow the Jesus Way - V. 13-14 Jesus knew that the things He has commanded in this Sermon on the Mount would raise in every person hearing it a negative reaction before there would be a positive response by faith. When we come to verses 21-23, Jesus will let us know that those who reject doing what He teaches are simply not among those who are truly Christians. Ultimately the person who rejects Jesus' teaching is really rejecting Jesus Himself. There is way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. - Proverbs 14:12 Aren't you glad Jesus calls believers to be His followers, not merely His fans? Jesus would rather have the few totally committed to Him and His Way then multitudes who are merely interested. Jesus said to Him, I Am THE Way, and THE Truth, and THE Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me! - John 14:6 But this I confess to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our Fathers, believing everything laid down by the Law and written in the Prophets. - Acts 24:14
A new MP3 sermon from Covenant Family Church (OPC) is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Grace to Run in His Way Subtitle: Psalm 119 Speaker: Peter Bringe Broadcaster: Covenant Family Church (OPC) Event: Sunday - PM Date: 7/7/2024 Bible: Psalm 119:25-32 Length: 29 min.
By Jorge de Campos in Fort Worth, TX - June 22, 2024 - The days are short and Christ's coming is soon. Great disaster will come upon our nation and in fact upon all the world. God wants us all to pay attention and not be complacent, as great punishment is coming soon, because we all have sinned greatly. We must have hope, because God has not rejected His people. He wants us all to come to repentance and become meek and humble so that we will faithfully walk in His Way of Life for our own good. Christ will come back (and that will be soon) to save our nation, and yes the whole world upon repentance.

Laura reports on the testimony of Gary Wang on Thursday, who described Alameda's special privileges that were programmed into FTX's code as early as July 2019, a few months after the exchange launched. These privileges included Alameda's ability to have a negative balance on its FTX account. This meant that Alameda was able to transfer and withdraw more funds than it had, essentially “borrowing from the exchange.” Those funds, Wang said, belonged to FTX customers, and at the time that FTX declared bankruptcy, Alameda had borrowed $8 billion from the exchange. Wang said Alameda had a $65 billion line of credit — far higher than any other customer on the exchange. He also revealed details about FTT, the cryptocurrency that FTX had created, and the concerns that were raised about how the tokens were allegedly used to boost Alameda's balance on the site. Laura reports on the testimony of three witnesses on Thursday, including one who declared that “FTX defrauded all of its customers” and another stating that he had committed financial crimes at the direction of Sam Bankman-Fried. Former FTX software developer Adam Yedidia, Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang, and FTX and Alameda co-founder Gary Wang filled in the details of different aspects of FTX and Alameda's business. Huang's testimony detailed how Paradigm expressed concern about FTX's lack of corporate controls and how the company was “owned and controlled by Sam.” Wang has only started his testimony but has already said he implemented advantages for Alameda into FTX's code at Bankman-Fried's direction. Yedidia's account had the most emotional details, describing how he had a strong belief in the company, to the point where, when employees began leaving FTX, he had messaged Bankman-Fried that he loved him and wasn't going anywhere, but that it flipped once he realized “FTX defrauded all of its customers.” Find out what new information caused him to have a change of heart in this episode.
