This past Sunday, August 25 at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, Dr. Barry Jenkins preached for us from Jeremiah 29:1-14. He began a three-week mini sermon series titled Finding Our Purpose in Life. All of us ask or have asked God at some point in our lives to show us what our purpose is. Dr. Jenkins noted three mistakes we often make when we’re crying out to God about our purpose: We doubt that God really has a purpose for our lives. We are afraid to discover God’s purpose for our lives. We don’t do what God has called us to do in our lives.

Our mission at Community Church of Greenwood is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and live in full devotion to Him. We want to help people far from God to experience new life in Jesus Christ.
Next is going to happen whether we want it to or not! There will always be the next hour, next day, next job, next thing in our lives. The “next” sometimes is pleasant and sometimes it tries us like never before. We can live in dread of “the next” or we can embrace “the next” in our lives by faith and hopefully God’s way. Jeremiah was a man who had no choice but to deal with “the next” for himself and for his nation. Lessons abound in dealing with “the next” in our lives. It is “the next” big thing!
Everything that happens to us in life is not always of the devil. Sometimes God ordains our captivity because He has a purpose for our life. We may need to allow Him the time to chasten us for His glory and for His purpose to come to pass.
