After the Fall, in the Garden of Eden, all of mankind became sinners and were reduced to living in the dark world of sin empowered by Satan and His demonic hosts. Mankind had fallen from his graceful fellowship with God and all had now become enslaved. However, there were some faithful people such as Enoch and Noah, from the first world, before the Flood, who were still able to have fellowship, with their Creator God. Mankind, as a whole, was in cruel bondage to sin and its cruel ways until the advent of Jesus Christ, into man's fallen world. When Jesus died on the Cross and then rose again, mans' penalty for sin, was broken. All who believed in Him were now set free and were able to be resurrected, with Him and their sins forgiven. They were born again children, of God, who, from the moment they believed, were then able to have fellowship and also able to live with God, for eternity.

The thoughts and beliefs of men, according to the standards of this world, are contrary to the thoughts of God. Only a new creature (one who has been born again by the Holy Spirit) is able to see the world from the perspective and viewpoint of Christ. The fantasies and every lofty thought of the worldly man always exalts itself against the knowledge of God. The mind and brain of the carnal man is the stronghold of the devil, and the thoughts and fantasies of the worldly person are influenced by the world and the devil. Only with the help of the spiritual weapon of God's Word are we able to destroy the strongholds of the devil and build defensive walls against it by the power of God's Spirit.

After centuries of rebellion, Judah is dramatically removed from God's presence in 2 Kings 24 and 2 Kings 25.
