In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

Mark 11:20-22 "And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God." Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
Holy Cooperation | Jeremiah 29:11God has a productive plan for your life—no matter the situation you're in. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us of His promise: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."But the question isn't whether God has a plan—the question is our holy cooperation. Are we aligning our hearts, decisions, and actions with His purpose? In this message, we explore what it means to trust, obey, and actively participate in the work God is doing in and through us.
There is a purpose called success that is available to every believer, but why are so many still living beneath their privileges? Too many believers, consistently, are embroiled in unproductive affairs, and are failing to accomplish the greater success that God has called them to. Pastor Donnie McClurkin, with much exuberance, addressed the elements of success preordained by God. From his text in Jeremiah 29, he reminded the believers that they should expect to excel and achieve their goals because their destiny is in God. They should push forward, while never looking back at past failures and expect to win. It's time for them to get out of the perpetual struggle of poverty, brokenness and all dysfunctions and seize the opportunities that are ahead. He cautioned, however, that they should not allow life to deprive them of what God has destined for them and that it's never too late to begin again. He closed emphatically saying, to never give up on hope. So expect the victory, expect the love, expect the peace and certainly, expect the great success. Expect to win! Our hosts take a look at biblical hermeneutics, helping youth workers realize the importance of teaching the Bible in proper context. We take a look at passages in Jeremiah, Romans, and Philippians as examples of how we often misuse Bible verses in our churches and ministries. We discuss ways in which we can help students properly understand the Bible passages they are reading.
Jeremiah 29:11 is a popular Bible verse that can be found on coffee mugs, Pinterest art, and memes: "For I know the plans I have for you." God does have great plans for his people, but the way that verse has been used today is not the way God intended it. They adorn coffee cups, Pinterest, T-shirts, and wall art. But these warm and fuzzy Bible verses are often taken out of context (likely even by you!). What are some of these verse, and how are they being misused? Pastor Mike and Dr. Bruce Becker from the Time of Grace team give you a sneak peek at this month's TV message series, "Out of Context." You'll also discover which of these two pastors have misused a verse (spoiler: BOTH of them!), which one was directed to include one of the verses as part of a graduation speech—upsetting parents in the process—and which resorted to a misused verse after having to contend with a particular NFL team that dons the green and gold. Pastor Mike and Dr. Becker also talk about the interactive book "Out of Context: 8 Bible Passages Most Christians Get Wrong," which accompanies the TV message series.
