Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with one of Tagg Magazine's 2022 Enterprising Women, Sheri Johnson (@the_sheri_johnson). Sheri is the founder and CEO of the streaming network Strong Voices Television (@SVTVNetwork). We talk about how she took a comment from a friend and turned it into a series and then created an entire network. We examine the idea of what it means to be labeled a stud and why Sheri doesn't identify as one. We also talk about Sheri's new children's book “Black Girl Magic”. Sheri's web series was born out of a comment that her life should be a tv show. She took that idea and ran with it and created Studville TV, a web series about four black lesbians. Studville TV was on Youtube for 3 seasons before it was demonetized by the platform. This lead Sheri to create her own streaming network with the purpose of championing the LGBTQ+ community in television, film, sports, and advocacy. The network gained 15,000 subscribers within the first 30 days from launch and has been growing ever since. When Eboné Bell watched television, or read magazines she never saw anyone who looked like her, or was like her: A black, lesbian professional. She decided she would be the one to change that - and Tagg Magazine was born. Today, the magazine for lesbians, queers and everything in between has a big following, and that's thanks to Eboné; who uses connections and grit to nab interviews and bring awareness to issues in her community. But Eboné wants to be a beacon to those who feel left out of that big LGBTQIA label. And she wants those who feel unnoticed to know that she sees you.   Read Tagg Magazine

The Intersection Episode #12–De-Centering Black Queer Self-Censorship with Eboné Bell We invite you to Episode 12 of The Intersection: Diverse Folx Converse Podcast, featuring Eboné Bell, editor-in-chief of Tagg Magazine to learn more about Black queer self-censorship Titled: De-Centering Black Queer Self-Censorship in the Face of Public Shaming, Racial Profiling, and Violence with Queer Women of Color Media and Programs Eboné and I curated this episode together after she came to me with the horrible incident of a young Black woman being dragged by her hair down stairs of a LGBTQ establishment, Nellies Sports Bar in Washington DC during PRIDE 2021. Keisha Young was a victim of racial profiling, underwent extreme violence and public humiliation, and we spoke together about how such incidents are some of the culprits of Black queer self-censorship. Eboné brings up multiple points on how to ally and co-conspire with Black queer people to stop incidents like this from occurring but also how to validate Black queer people's and women's experiences, as well as that of QPoC and QWoC. She then discusses her rise to fame with Tagg Magazine, her plans for the future, and what it's like to see representation for Black queer women, QWoC, and trans individuals missing in public culture. And then to become at the forefront of this representation! Not only as editor-in-chief but as a speaker, thought leader, and social leader. Listen to this important conversation that is vital to understand our past of intersectional racism, our present events, and Eboné's plans for the future to continue to uplift QPoC and "everyone under the rainbow." ******* Eboné Bell's offerings can be found on her website, https://www.ebonebell.com Dr. Shannon Wong Lerner's info and Intersection GOFUNDME page: https://linktr.ee/DrWongLerner

AUDIO TITLE:  Episode #57 – Expert Interview: Marketing Tips for Reaching Lesbians Jenn T Grace: You are listening to the Gay Business and Marketing Made Easy Podcast, Episode 57. Intro: Welcome to the Gay Business and Marketing Made Easy Podcast where you'll learn how to do business with and market to the LGBT community in an authentic and transparent way. We're talking about the $790 billion lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender community. We'll help you grow your business, gain market share and impact your bottom line. And now your host - she's an entrepreneur, a marketing maven and an advocate for the LGBT business community. Jenn, with two N's, T. Grace. Jenn T Grace: So I am super excited to have you on the show today. So I am talking with Ebone Bell. And you are the Tagg Magazine it person, is what I will call you. But your official title is you are the owner of it, you're the creator of it, founder, editor-in-chief, and basically the cook, line, bottle washer, and all that stuff as well I'm guessing. Ebone Bell: Exactly, you absolutely nailed it. Jenn T Grace: So I'm really happy to be talking to you today, and I really just want to- I'm really excited for the fact that you have Tagg Magazine which is a lesbian publication, and there are so few lesbian publications out there, that I'm so excited to have you on the show. Of course calling myself a professional lesbian and having a fellow professional lesbian basically being on the show, I think this is great to just kind of talk to us today about your business, about your personal story, and one question I'm really dying to know is what made you create Tagg Magazine? Ebone Bell: And that's a great question, and a question that I get all the time. Because people are like, 'Well what made you want to do a print publication where people are saying that print is dead. But essentially you know I live in the DC metropolitan area, and we have you know, other LGBT publications here which are great. But one consistent thing that I would always see, and still always see, is it was really geared a lot towards gay men and specifically even white gay men. You know when I would give presentations or sometimes still now I would have somebody count the number of men they see in the first ten pages of whatever publication, local LGBT publication is out there. And then I'd have them go back and count the number of women. The last time I did the presentation they counted 33 men and they counted two women. And some of those might have I think a couple or one of those happened to be an ad. So I always start off that way because that is the reason that we started Tagg Magazine. You know I took a huge leap of faith by wanting to do a print publication, but I really felt like there was a need for it, and the women's community has amazing people doing great things, and I wanted to be able to tell their stories, have resources for people, list events and kind of show how thriving the lesbian community is. So really that's why I started it and thankfully the community is really supporting this magazine in more ways than o...
