Social media has been a huge part of our lives for the last 20 years, with its ability to connect people from all around the world to brightening someones day with a viral video or meme. Todays ep features 2 cases when social media platforms were used for a far more sinister reason. Kelsey covers a series of Death Lists that appeared on Facebook in early 2010, targeting almost 100 young people in Columbia it led to the death of 3 people before police took it seriously. Alanna details the case of Claire Miller, who stabbed her older sister in a sudden attack, and then uploaded videos to tiktok before she was arrested. Thanks for tuning in, make sure you balance out your doom scrolling with something lighter, like unlikely animal friend videos or videos of people falling down! Our Darkcast spotlight this week is A Hateful Homicide, a true crime and investigative journalism podcast dedicated to covering the stories regarding the murders and hate crimes involving our Transgender, Gender Non-binary/Nonconforming, Intersex, and Two-Spirit communities in the United States and abroad.

Fletcher grew up stifled in a very religious family and never felt safe at home to talk and explore their thoughts and feelings. It wasn't until the pandemic gave them time to explore who they were that Fletcher made some life-altering changes. Today, with two Master's Degrees in hand, Fletcher has found purpose in helping young people choose their path - not the path chosen for them. The class is interactive and taught live on Zoom – join us!   01:37 – This week's theme is: Life is Just a Fantasy! Neptune – the planet of fantasy – is a key player this week.   01:54 – An interesting Astrology in Action story from last week. Remember when Celeste asked us to look for a woman associated with royalty to make news? The news of Queen Elizabeth's death came after this podcast was recorded.   02:13 – The three big things this week: First, Pallas Athene (Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war) is associated with pattern recognition and creative intelligence. She is the protectress of the state and is linked to the idea of strategy. Liz Truss (Leo Sun, Pisces Moon) is the new British Prime Minister, and was born when this asteroid was stationary. On the day she was voted in, Jupiter (expansion) was conjunct her Pallas Athene.   03:33 – Second, the Sun moves from 18 to 25 Virgo this week. On Sunday, the Sun trines Uranus (ease and flow) and on Friday, it opposes Neptune. So, you may get excited about something earlier in the week, and then experience some confusion or disappointment as the week progresses. But the fog will likely lift by the weekend, so hang in there. Do keep in mind, though, that deception is possible. Also, with Mercury also retrograde, this is not a weekend to make a significant agreement or contract with anyone. (And if you do need to make an agreement, just triple-check everything!)   07:12 – Third, we welcome a Last Quarter Moon at 24 Gemini on Saturday. There is a mutable T-square present, with the Sun opposite Neptune and square the Moon. As the week goes on, you may start rewinding and see the red flags that you missed, like the Christopher Nolan movie Memento.   08:37 – On Sunday, the word of the day is EXCITEMENT. We start the week with the Moon in Aries, and Mercury retrograde in Libra.   09:38 – On Monday, the theme is ADJUSTMENT. The Sun in Virgo is quincunx Saturn in Aquarius. How can you let go of that which is holding you back?   10:24 – Tuesday's focus is SHARE. The Moon enters Taurus at 4:39am PT, and the Disseminating Moon begins at 6 Taurus at 3:54pm PT. Sharing is caring!   11:45 – On Wednesday, the word is NONCONFORMING. The Sun is on fixed star Denebola at 21 Virgo and is associated with uniqueness. How can you see the world through different eyes and think independently?   12:20 – On Thursday, the theme is CHIT CHAT. It is a wonderful day for witty repartee. The Moon enters Gemini at 1:16 pm PT.   13:06 – On Friday, the emphasis is DREAMY. The Sun in Virgo is opposite Neptune in Pisces.   14:05 – On Saturday, the word is LEARNING. The Last Quarter Moon is at 24 Gemini at 2:51pm.   15:35 – Thanks for listening to Celestial Insights! Michelle always knew she was different. As a child, she was socially awkward, and got picked on. She never felt comfortable dressing or acting like other girls. Receiving a professional diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder was an important step in her process of coming home to herself with acceptance and understanding. But the explanation didn't come soon enough to prevent her from getting lost down the wrong path in her search for the missing narrative. In the process, she was harmed both physically and psychologically.Like so many vulnerable, neurodivergent young adults, in her early 20's, Michelle turned to the internet for comfort, distraction, belonging, and knowledge. That's where she was introduced to the concept of questioning one's gender, and therefore began to question her own. The advice of strangers; the sense of community that she found online and in a trans support group; and a complex ideology that fed her intellect, all led her down the path of cementing a trans identity and deciding to pursue medical procedures that were both irreversible and experimental. Michelle identified as transgender for a period of ten years, during which time she was prescribed testosterone and underwent two medically unnecessary surgeries (mastectomy and hysterectomy). Seven years after being prescribed testosterone, at nearly 30 years of age, she was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and post-traumatic stress. She detransitioned a few years later. Now 34, Michelle considers writing to be her primary passion in life. Few things in life are only one way or the other - and gender is no exception. Jacob learned in high school that gender was something fun and something you could play with. Erin realized in college that gender was a performance and that they could perform it however they want. For both, they learned that they define their gender, not the other way around. And Trekkies rejoice! In this episode, Phil and Alex discuss Erin's and Jacob's stories, their own respective relationships with gender, and how Phil relates their gender to a character in a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode.
