This podcast is for people who feel like they came out of the closet and got placed in a box. It’s time to put the u-haul theory to bed, and connect over being bad queers. Join Kris and Shana from the HER App to discuss breaking stereotypes, owning your identity and their unpopular queer opinions. Bad queers will leave you both offended and inspired by the news, stories and advice about the very fluid, very real LGBTQ+ experience.

Listeners of Bad Queers that love the show mention:The Bad Queers podcast is an incredible and refreshing addition to the world of queer podcasts. From the moment I started listening, I was pleasantly surprised by the insightful and entertaining discussions that Shana and Kris bring to each episode. What sets this podcast apart is their perspective as black queer individuals, which adds a unique and important voice to the LGBTQ+ community. They fearlessly tackle issues, news, and life experiences that resonate with queer people of all backgrounds.
One of the best aspects of The Bad Queers podcast is their ability to educate listeners on various aspects of LGBTQ+ culture. Each episode features vocabulary words specific to the community, providing definitions and context that help deepen our understanding. Additionally, they cover stories that often go unnoticed or ignore how intersectionality informs these issues. The Am I a Bad Queer Q&A segment is particularly enlightening, as it highlights the diversity within the queer community and offers relationship advice based on personal experiences. Furthermore, their own Bad Queen Opinions challenge stereotypes and provide alternative perspectives that many can relate to.
However, it is important to note that there have been controversies surrounding one of the featured individuals on this podcast, Maxxx Pleasure. Allegations of physical assaults on TransPeople, involvement in cancellation campaigns targeting Trans community members, specifically Trans NonBinary people of color and disabled performers have arisen. These actions have resulted in blacklisting these individuals from Brooklyn's queer spaces both online and offline. While it's crucial for podcasts to showcase a range of voices within the LGBTQ+ community, it's equally important for them to vet guests thoroughly and address any concerns raised by listeners.
In conclusion, The Bad Queers podcast is an absolute delight for anyone seeking informative yet entertaining discussions about queer life. Shana and Kris bring a much-needed perspective as black queer individuals and create a safe space for listeners to learn about important topics within the LGBTQ+ community. While there have been controversies surrounding one guest featured on the podcast, it is my hope that the hosts address these concerns and continue to provide a platform for diverse voices. Overall, I highly recommend this podcast for its educational value, humor, and relatability.

After the last few weeks of mess in the news, we are bringing positive stories to your eyes and ears. We breakdown the 'Conception Begins at Erection' Bill, Amber Ruffin shares accountability in not coming out sooner and share our favorite highlights from the NAACP Image Awards. In 'Am I a Bad Queer?' we break down the essence of the 'delivered' queer person, being skeptical of your exes behaviors after you breakup and pretending to know the indie queer artists. This week, we sit down with legendary content creator, Amber Whittington—aka AmbersCloset—to talk about her journey from YouTube pioneer to TV and her next big move… politics?
Last week was possibly the longest short week ever. The Trump administration started as chaotically as expected with the signing of countless Cheesecake Factory–menu–looking executive orders attacking everything from DEI to undocumented immigrants. In other news, the inaugural season of Unrivaled basketball kicked off with a bang and the GLAAD Media Awards were announced and included some of our favs. Have the Gays 4 Trump found us? Hard launch January continues with the (mostly) predictable fate of Tiktok dominating the news week along with LA wildfires aftermath, and The House passing an amendment to Title 9 to ban trans students from women's sports. Victoria Monèt and Teyana Taylor CARRIED the BET Awards. Amber Ruffin comes out for Pride. Speaking of Pride, this year's protests reminded us that Pride was a riot. In Am I A Bad Queer, we reiterate our stance on disowning disrespectful family members and discuss if queer friends are mandatory. In Bad Queer Opinions, we hard agree with Durand Bernarr's comment on zesty and sassy being the new F word. The USWNT team said Black women to the FRONT and Sha'Carri Richardson set a new record at the Olympic trials. No surprise here, 25 rainbow waving companies donated $18 million to anti-LGBTQ politicians and a study shows that Black people who don't support queer rights oppose attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. Bad Queer opinions include being out longer does not make you more queer and folks who walk around in all rainbow are, basically, rainbow capitalism. Shoutouts: Kris: QWOC Books is having their inaugural author panel discussion series, "The Price of Passion" on August 17 at 2pm ET. This series is designed to connect queer women of color authors with their current and future readers.
