The value of taking the journey back through nursing history and exploring international health care allows us to take a step back and find hope in the present and reconnect with our passion for nursing. The current climate and conditions of our health care system can feel very bleak and hopeless, but we can continue to look for the light in all the small experiences that keep us coming back through those doors. Perspective is a valuable resource and Paula is here to give us a healthy dose to keep us fighting the good fight. Key Points Nursing 45 years ago How Bad Are Things Right Now? Owen has worked as a guide with Arctic Heliskiing since its inspection and gives us an insightful lowdown on riding and touring in Northern Iceland. Owen also works for Northern Escape Heli-ski out of Terrace BC, close to the Alaskan border. It’s within the Northern Escapes tenure that Owen runs heli-accessed week long tented base camps and where the Backdrop Crew woke, met, shouted at and eventually ran from a grizzly bear.

On March 17th, 2013 Alain Duguay and his friends found themselves in the path of an avalanche that was classified as a size 3.5. They were in Cherry Bowl in Terrace BC and in terms of the avalanche's destruction -- it's right in between being able to bury a car, destroy a small building or break trees and being able to destroy a railway car. It's a happy ending as he and his friends were rescued by four Terrace locals and serves as a living testament to what it feels like to be buried alive and how a few extra turns ultimately put them in the path of the white dragon.
In this episode we return our attention to the Skeena River watershed to discuss a variety of topics. Joining us today is Brian Niska, head guide at the Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness Lodge, in Terrace BC. Brian is a lifelong angler with 27 years of fly fishing experience, with 18 of those years spent as a professional fly fishing guide. We explore a number of topics related to ensuring that anglers have consistent and dependable access to BC's rivers and the many possible ways in which to accomplish this. We discuss the nearly extirpated Thompson River Steelhead fishery serving as a warning of the consequences of fisheries mis-management, and why a "hookless" fishery may be the key to this system's recovery. The art and seductive nature of Spey casting and fishing rounds out today's discussion. I was very fortunate to visit a beautiful part of British Columbia. I traveled Highway 16 in the Northern part of the Provence recently and I made a stop in the community of Terrace. Sherwood Mountain is a brewery focusing mostly on lagers and has been quite successful in the local area. On a very busy Thursday afternoon, I sat down with the brewer and co-owner Darryl Tucker.
