One of the advantages of serving clients across multiple geographies is that Vynamic can see firsthand how the differences in health systems play out in terms of spend, outcomes, and innovation. Jen & Ryan are joined by Vynamic London's Oliver White to discuss key differences between the health systems in each country and what they can learn from one another as they move healthcare delivery out of the hospital and into the community setting. In one sense, the US and UK represent two extremes on the delivery system spectrum: the US has the largest private sector system globally while the UK has the largest publicly funded system. They also differ in key metrics around healthcare spend and outcomes (01:19), science and technology (04:21), and wait times for elective procedures and emergency care (06:21). Despite these differences, both systems are focused on improving cost and customer satisfaction – especially when it comes to telehealth and home care (09:05). One model the NHS has put forward in this effort is Community Crisis Response Teams (12:38) – a model that could be attractive as US health systems look to transition care to the home and alleviate emergency department (ED) volumes (15:13). While implementing such a model could present scaling challenges in the US market (16:45), it could also offer opportunities for health plans and providers to improve quality, outcomes, and patient satisfaction (18:29). Show Notes: https://wetflyswing.com/328 Presented By: Reyr Gear, FishHound Expeditions, Anglers Coffee, Togens Fly Shop Sponsors: https://wetflyswing.com/sponsors "What advantage does the clear give you?" That's the question to start this episode with on choosing a line for fly fishing. Jarvis from Monic Fly Lines is here today to break down fly lines so you have a better feel for the types of lines out there and their uses. We find out how the different materials affect the performance of a line, the advantages of a clear line, and the ideal line for specific species and water. Jarvis also shares his experience hunting with the Hadza tribe and some of his saltwater trips in the Bahamas. Plus, we hear a story about one of their customers who has a 20-year-old clear Monic fly line that still works. Line for Fly Fishing Show Notes with Jarvis 08:10 - Jarvis got a job at Monic Fly Lines as a manufacturing assistant then later on stepped in for the managing role 09:20 - Bob Romano was on the podcast at WFS 314 where we talked about the Rangeley Lakes Region in Maine 11:00 - Jarvis excelled in school. He's pretty smart and got into some scholarships. 12:40 - Jarvis took up Anthropology in College 13:20 - The Hadza are modern hunter-gatherer people living in northern Tanzania. They are considered one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa with approximately 1,300 tribe members. 19:50 - Monic Fly Lines are PVC-free. They use naturally buoyant plastics that's why they float well. 22:00 - The Monic 101 is their basic trout line 22:55 - The front taper is where the line begins to change in diameter. The belly section is the thickest portion of that line. Your rear taper is where it starts to go back down in diameter 27:00 - For beginners, a little heavier line, one size up, will make you feel the dynamics of your casting. If you have a 5 wt fast rod, a 6 wt line is recommended. If it's medium-fast, a true to weight size like 5 wt would be good 39:55 - Airflo Fly Lines also make PVC-free lines 41:30 - Jarvis explains how their lines become clear and talks about its stealth advantages 47:10 - Jarvis talks about how Bob Goodale, the founder, started Monic. Their first line was a clear floating line. Read more about the company's history here. 49:00 - Their Henley Series has a material that they call MoniCore 50:20 - The Henley Phantom Tip is one of their latest lines. Jarvis explains its advantages for fresh and saltwater 51:50 - One of their customer showed Jarvis a 20-year-old clear Monic line - it already turned yellow because of the UV damage but it still works 52:30 - Monic will replace your fly line if it breaks on the first year of buying it 55:10 - All the fly lines they produce are made from Boulder Colorado 56:30 - There's a chart in each type of line on their website for you to have a general idea of how your setup would be. There's a chat box there on the website too - send them a message and Jarvis or any from the Monic crew will gladly help 59:00 - Their Icicle line has a more advanced taper called Javelin taper 1:04:00 - The Saltwater Master series has a slickening agent built-in 1:06:45 - Jarvis had a saltwater trip with Denis Isbister in the Bahamas to do some content for Monic. Denis runs the Wild Fish Wild Places TV show 1:08:40 - Jarvis caught a horse side yellow tail jack 1:10:00 - Jarvis talks about his experience fishing in Acklins, a little southeast of the Bahamas 1:13:20 - We had Oliver White at WFS 69 where we talked about the Bahamas 1:13:50 - Enter your favorite fly at wetflyswing.com/topfly to win a box of flies 1:14:30 - Jarvis picks his top fly for fresh and saltwater. For trout, he picks Gold-ribber Hares Ear. For saltwater, he picks the Gotcha Shrimp pattern Line for Fly Fishing Conclusion with Jarvis So there you go. I hope you learned some things that will help you decide on what type of line you're getting next. I think that you can never go wrong with the clear ones. The stealthy type is always great to avoid spooking the fish. If you're a beginner, Jarvis recommends to up that line 1 step so that you can feel the dynamics of your casting better. Practice, and practice, then practice some more. Once you feel good about your casting, then you can experiment on your gear setup as you please. If you want to connect with Jarvis and the Monic team, send them a message on Instagram or via the Monic website chat box. They will gladly assist you in getting that perfect line for your needs and preference. Show Notes: https://wetflyswing.com/328

Hey y'all! It's your crazy ray of sunshine Chele aka Ms.Community and I am the mouth on the mic of Hitting the Streets podcast show. This show is a series of interviews giving you an insiders look at the small businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations and events in the North Texas area. Today on the show I have Oliver White, The Oliver White Group. What an amazing guy and talented artist! I enjoy sitting down with Oliver at TRYincubator in Denison, TX where he hosts Open Mic Night on Mondays. Please tune in to hear his back story, his passion for music and his advice to artists who are just starting in this businesses. It's easier to be epic than it is to be average. I want to tell you that it is easier to be world class, it's easier to do big, challenging, and amazing things than it is to simply be average. Look at people like Richard Branson. They jump out of an airplane before breakfast, and then they make a billion dollars. They make it look fun and easy- that could be what it would be like for you too! Because of our school system, we are all trained to simply know how it takes to pass. As a result, you think inside of the box- one that was set by other people for you. Until you start thinking outside the box, you'll never start thinking outside of the box. When you start thinking bigger and taking on much bigger challenges, you're going to get the fire and motivation inside your belly. You are going to get so much momentum. You will start seeing things happening, things that you never would have expected to happen if you stayed with the normal, average course. "The universe is conspiring to help you." - Paulo Coelho Take for example, Oliver White. He is a fishing guy who, all of a sudden, decided that he wanted to explore rivers and fish that have never been caught by fly fishing before. Not only that, he wanted to teach the local people how to create a sustainable lodge and a fishing industry for themselves. Nobody has ever thought of doing that before! But now, he is featured all over media. People are behind his mission, and he created so much momentum. There was a time I wanted to raise money for my birthday, so I approached the organizers of a local mansion party. I told them that I wanted them to host this party for me and raise money for charity. They said yes, and it was the biggest party that they had ever thrown, and the most successful for all of us. As soon as you start thinking unreasonably - outside the box - amazing things start happening for you. While everybody else is competing for the same average slice of pie. My friend Chase Boehringer just set the world record for highest motorcycle. He had more than 75 people and businesses who sponsored this expedition. He asked them for help, and they were on board. They were excited to support this big, world record project. How can you start thinking bigger? If you have been thinking average your whole life, start with this line of thinking: What would I do if I had the support of celebrities, or billionaires, or all my friends? What would I do if I knew that I couldn't fail? What would I do if somebody gave me a hundred million dollars to make this thing a reality? What would I do if I stopped being reasonable? It takes some time to change your thinking. It takes time asking the right questions to open your thinking. It's a creative process. Even then when you come up with a big, exciting, scary, audacious idea, your ego is going to tell you not to do it to try to keep you safe. The Australians have this thing called "tall poppy syndrome". It's going to tell you not to grow above the crowd or you will get chopped off. Keep your head down, work hard, and stay in your lane. This is backwards thinking - we all know people who work hard for a long time and have anything to show for it. And this used to be me. So, start changing the questions you are asking to yourself. What happens if you don't start taking big and bold actions? You are just going to be right where you are. More and more people are going to try and do the same thing competing for scarce resources, and trying to be average. You are going to lose momentum and run out of steam. Your business is going to hit these plateaus. How long will you be able to sustain that? You are going to be limited by the constraints of being average. Start being unreasonable. Start practicing thinking outside the box. Start changing the questions that you ask for yourself so that you can expand the challenges that you can take on. Go from zero to one,

From Guyana to Jackson Hole, fishing and even finance, Oliver White’s unique story traverses the dilemma of “goin’ all around, or just stayin’ put” – a challenge familiar to fatherhood. Since the recording of this episode, Hurricane Dorian devastated parts of the Bahamas, none worse hit than the island of Abaco and the lodge there built and run by Oliver. The stories in this conversation pertain to Abaco, pre-storm.
On the first two days of September 2019, Hurricane Dorian – a Category 5 storm – hit the Bahamian islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama. For two days, the islands were pummeled by sustained winds of 185 miles per hour, with maximum gusts in excess of 220. It was the strongest hurricane on record to affect the Bahamas, and – parked over the islands for two days – it destroyed everything in its path. In the four weeks following the storm, a lot has taken place, but in many areas and in many communities on both Grand Bahama and Abaco, the recovery efforts continue, and the rebuilding has only just begun. To discuss the ongoing relief and rebuilding efforts to date, host Jim Klug sits down with two guests: Doug McKnight, the Bahamas program director for Yellow Dog Flyfishing, and Dillon Gruber, Associate Director of the Yellow Dog Community and Conservation Foundation. We talk with Doug and Dillon about what YDCCF and others from throughout the fly fishing industry are doing to assist post-storm, and we share live reports from several lodge owners on both islands, including Rob Neher of East End Lodge, Greg Vincent of H2O Bonefishing, and Oliver White of Abaco Lodge.
This week, Anne and Holly talk with Julie Oliver (candidate, TX-25) about gun control, healthcare, white supremacy, impeachment, abortion, campaign finance, immigration reform, voting rights, climate crisis, and how her dad having a t-shirt with the words "BOOGIE TIL YOU PUKE" emblazoned on the front may have been misleading as to his political leanings. And we didn't ask her ONE TIME how she would balance motherhood with her duties in Congress because you'd never, ever ask a man how he'd balance fatherhood with HIS duties in Congress, right? We’ve all been to an event and queued for 20 minutes at the bar. Or visited a trade exhibition and waited in line for half an hour to buy a sandwich. Like many other areas of event operations, the pre-ordering of food and drink is now possible via a specially designed digital platform, which is the core subject of this week’s podcast. Joining host James Dickson is Oliver White, Head of Customer Sucess at Preoday, and Ben Fowler, Bar Manager at The Brewery, one of London’s leading event venues. During the podcast we hear from Oilver how the Preoday system works, whilst Ben explains how the intricate operations of a busy venue bar – along with the development of new menu options – can be transformed by the platform.
With Wimbledon proceedings approaching the business end, we made sure that we served up an ace for everyone to enjoy from Henman Hill to Timbuktu. First up, there were no backhanded compliments from our presenters Sue Nelson, Guy Routledge and Ollie Lloyd when they tried Emily Fruit Crisps. The trio were blown away by the fantastic, innovative and perfectly presented products put in front of them by founder Emily Wong. We like to keep ourselves busy at FoodTalk HQ, so we made sure that we didn't miss out any of the action from last weekend's Allergy & Freefrom Show at Olympia. You might know their bread already, but we heard how Genius are looking to take the Freefrom world by storm in other areas too. Finally, we welcomed Oliver White from Preoday onto the show. If you hate cash, then these guys are right up your street. They are developing white label technology which you can use everywhere from restaurants to music festivals.
Oliver White is the owner and operator of two lodges in the Bahamas as well as one of the hosts of Buccaneers and Bones on the Outdoor Channel. He's also a former financier and philosopher. Don't miss his story.
