Among the greatest evidence for Christ's resurrection is the rapid change in His followers. The disciples went from a group of timid, fearful men to bold followers who died for Jesus. How do we explain this? The answer lies in the fact that they saw the risen Christ after His death. Over a period of 40 days between Christ's resurrection and ascension, He appeared to as many as 500 eyewitnesses. “It is not enough for the skeptic, then, to simply dismiss the Christian teaching about the resurrection of Jesus by saying, ‘It just couldn't have happened.' He or she must face and answer all these historical questions: Why did Christianity emerge so rapidly, with such power? No other band of messianic followers in that era concluded their leader was raised from the dead—why did this group do so? No group of Jews ever worshipped a human being as God. What led them to do it?... How do you account for the hundreds of eyewitnesses to the resurrection who lived on for decades and publicly maintained their testimony, eventually giving their lives for their belief?” (Keller) When we experience the risen Christ, our fear becomes peaceful confidence and our timidity becomes boldness. We proclaim a risen Christ that overcomes our slavery to fear. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.” (2 Tim. 1:7) Take-Home Message: The risen Christ conquers my slavery to fear. This sermon explores the concept of New Creation in John's Gospel. Early Christians called Sunday the eighth day because on it, Christ inaugurated the new creation through His resurrection. What does it mean for us to live as people of the eight day—of the New Creation?
This homily from Thomas Sunday emphasizes the point that God does not condemn doubt but invites honest seekers into deeper belief. True belief in Christ isn't just accepting facts, but trusting in His love, intentions, and power—similar to the trust found in all healthy relationships. Doubt, when motivated by a sincere desire for truth, can lead to greater faith, especially when brought into open, loving community. However, skepticism rooted in malice or apathy is spiritually harmful. Christ welcomes honest questions because they build relationship, but He opposes harmful, rigid belief used to hurt others. Ultimately, believers are called to trust Christ, share faith with love and patience, and grow in a relationship that leads to real, eternal life.

1st Sunday of The Holy Fifty Days @ St. Kyrillos The Sixth Coptic Orthodox Church - Nashville, TN ~ May 12, 2024 | Pashons 4, 1740
Thomas Sunday, in all traditions of Christianity, is celebrated the Sunday after Resurrection Sunday. All the disciples had witnessed and seen the resurrected Lord, except for the disciple Thomas, saying, "I will not believe unless I see Him, and touch His wounds." Thus, when Christ visited the disciples again, Thomas came up to Him and believed after seeing. Accordingly, Christ says, "Blessed are those who believe without seeing." So, in a way, Thomas allowed us to all receive a blessing. Fortunately, Mother's Day also falls on this Sunday! We celebrate and are grateful for all the many things that our mothers do for us, as well as what they have done for us. Today is a day where we mark the importance of realising all the amazing things that our mothers do, and even just a thank you can brighten her day a little. Happy Mothers' Day to all mothers, and to the mothers that listen to our program. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.

The road to the NCAA Basketball Tournament once again runs through Sioux Falls. For the first time in a handful of years, the Summit League men's tournament is wide open. After back to back years where a team was unbeaten in the regular season, South Dakota State won the league this year losing four times. North Dakota State enters with its lowest seed in six years, the Bison are seeded fifth after losing their final two games of the regular season. NDSU will face St. Thomas Sunday at 6 p.m. The Bison split the season series with the Tommies, including a 64-50 win in Fargo on February 22. North Dakota comes to Sioux Falls with the highest seed the Fighting Hawks have ever earned as a member of the Summit League. UND finished third and will take on Omaha Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. Paul Sather's team swept the season series from the Mavericks. The women's side sees SDSU return as the top seed after a second consecutive unbeaten season. Aaron Johnston's team has been beset by injuries, but yet the Jacks finished 16-0 in league play. Jory Collins team comes to Sioux Falls as the second seed for the second straight year. It was a disappointment last year as the Bison lost in the opening round to seventh-seeded Kansas City in the opening round. This year's Bison are led by all-Summit first-team member Elle Evans, who was also selected to the defensive team. NDSU has earned the most wins in the Division I era and seems primed for a run to Tuesday's championship. The Forum's Jeff Kolpack and WDAY's Dom Izzo offer their thoughts on the tournament and what to expect over the next few days.

Why don't we believe in church? Could it be our earthly desires have made heavenly desires boring? It's time we doubted our doubts about the power of participating in Christ's body--both the congregation and Communion.

In many Eastern Catholic Churches this Sunday is Thomas Sunday but also known in Latin Rite Churches as Divine Mercy Sunday. Either way, God's mercy will be shown through the doubt of Thomas.
