Jordan sits down with professional gravel race extraordinaire Alexey Vermeulen and Pearl Izumi product line manager Lani Benson. They unpack how gravel gear (especially kit and outerwear) has evolved along with the sport's progression. But thats just the tip of the iceberg. It's not all gear and geeking out. However, the conversation moves into the "real meaning" of gravel. Why would someone subject themselves to a grueling (yet fun) 10-hour day on the bike? Importantly, how that day on the bike might not vibe with the most obvious gear choice. For example, the super lightweight stiff-soled gear the professionals are racing might not be the best for you.  The group discusses their favorite pieces of gravel (and all-around kit) from the newest Pearl Izumi offerings and Alexey's never-ending love for the Attak Barrier jacket. Raymond Bisha introduces the third instalment of a collectable series of seven albums showcasing Ukraine-born composer Alexey Shor's appealing personal style and superb craftsmanship. The programme features vivid portraits of literary figures for piano (Behzod Abduraimov) and orchestra (Kyiv Virtuosi), similarly an homage to Glinka, and a dazzling concerto for flute (Jasmine Choi). A bit happened this year… DD reached its 22nd year online being one of the oldest sites on the internet and definitely one of the very oldest free comic hosts next to Keenspace which doesn't really exist now. We released another DD anthology comic collection, A Flock of Dreams (linked bellow), in which your Quackcast hosts collaborated on a comic together! We were really proud of that, Key of Dreams, our story was a real work of love, and you can read that in the anthology. Another big point was that our programmer, Alexey, finally left us. That was very sad but he didn't feel he could keep up the work anymore. So we will be looking for another programmer or programming team with Python of UI capabilities to pick up on his work. Banes started Continuity Falls, replacing HPKomic's Panel by Panel feature, which was a much loved deep-dive into comics on DD and the web in general by the learned and experienced HPKomic (linked bellow).
