Tim Heyl, Founder and CEO of Homeward, took the Austin real estate market by storm within years of starting his career at Keller Williams Realty. Voted Top Real Estate Agent by Austin Business Journal and having his team, The Heyl Group, ranked as the 25th most productive team in the Real Trends Thousand list, he attributes his success to knowing when to ask for help, taking the time to build close-knit teams, and spending an immense amount of time generating leads. He’s now looking to give real estate agents a leg up when competing with iBuyers through Homeward. Homeward is a startup that makes it possible for people to use their home value to make a cash offer on a house without having to put it on the market first, removing the burden of finding a transition home between sales. Unlike other tools, Homeward requires a real estate agent for the transaction, and Heyl believes this enables agents to offer their expertise while also offering clients the kind of tools the market now demands. In this episode, Tim explains how agents can power up their careers and stay competitive in a hot market. To find out more about Tim and his company, follow Homeward on Facebook and Instagram. We have to maintain our personal production while adding systems and leverage to push us toward the next big goal. There’s no need to roll the dice on potential talent (15:27 - 17:49) Don’t be put off by the idea of hiring proven talent because of cost. In a lot of cases, all it takes is clearly articulating our passion, dreams and vision to them, and we’ll be surprised by how willing they would be to work for us for less. It's tempting to focus on hiring potential talent because it’s cheap. Yet the very nature of It's tempting to focus on hiring potential talent because it’s cheap. Yet the very nature of “potential talent” means they’re going to fail their way to learning. This can put a lot of strain on our business. People with a proven track record of success may be more expensive, but the more clear we are about where we're going, and the better we can articulate it the cheaper it becomes to hire them. Some of the most proven, experienced people are willing to take massive steps backwards because they believe in us, our dream, where we’re going and what we’re willing to do to get there.
