This episode explores jade not as a simple abundance crystal, but as a stone that asks a far more difficult question: what version of yourself is ready to be released? Also included: The difference between jadeite and nephrite  Jade in Chinese, Māori, and Maya traditions  Why jade is associated with courage and truth  Dreamwork and spiritual practices for working with jade  A guided ritual for releasing false identities and limiting beliefs This is an episode about transformation, honesty, and the sacred process of becoming who you truly are.Send me any questions or comments you may have and I will answer them on upcoming podcast episodes!! In this episode of the Dream World Podcast, I sit down with dream worker, storyteller, and researcher Andrusa Lawson for a deep conversation on dream recall, shadow work, lucid dreaming, collective consciousness, and the sacred nature of the dream space. We reflect on the importance of finding spaces where dreamwork, vulnerability, and collective exploration can exist safely and authentically. Andrusa speaks on the challenges of doing deeply personal and transformative work in a world shaped by survival, inequality, distraction, and systems that often overlook or silence marginalized voices. Rather than rushing to expand dream technologies or communities, he emphasizes the need for environments rooted in trust, care, inclusion, and genuine human connection — spaces where people can engage with the dreaming without fear of judgment, exploitation, or having their experiences dismissed.Andrusa shares his experiences growing up in a family that actively shared dreams, how dreams became a tool for navigating trauma and connection, and why he believes dreaming may be one of the most accessible gateways into self-awareness and healing. We explore his concept of “dream cartography” — mapping recurring dreamscapes and navigating the dream world through lucidity, symbolism, and intention.✨ Subscribe for more conversations exploring lucid dreaming, consciousness, dream science, mythology, spirituality, and the mysteries of the mind.FREE LINK TO MY ONLINE COURSE: ($200 value) expires June 15thSend us Fan MailSupport the showFollow The Dream World PodcastVisit Our WebsiteInstagram @TheDreamWorldPodcastTik Tok @aminasdreamworldSpotifyFacebookLucid Dreaming Online Course

Embodied Imagination: A Body-Based Method for Dreamwork with Robert Bosnak

The Dream Journal

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 20, 2026

In this episode of The Dream Journal, host Katherine Bell speaks with dreamwork pioneer Robert Bosnak, founder of Embodied Imagination, about how to work with dreams, symptoms, memories, and trauma without forcing interpretation. Bosnak shares why “not knowing” can be the most skillful stance in dreamwork, how to re-enter a dream through flashback memory, and how shifting perspective—from the “narrator” to the environment or other beings—can unlock relief, agency, and integration. Keywords: dreamwork, embodied imagination, Robert Bosnak, Katherine Bell, experiential dreamwork, flashback memory, non-interpretive dreamwork, trauma nightmares, somatic symptoms, neutral witness, psychedelic integration, imaginal realm, dual consciousness Key takeaways Start with not knowing. A dream can be meaningful even when you can't explain it; “not understanding” can keep you closer to the living experience of the dream. Re-enter the dream as a place. Instead of treating dreams as stories to decode, Embodied Imagination uses flashback memory to return to the dream environment and feel it in the body. The body leads the mind. Sensation and affect often arrive before conscious meaning—so the work begins with what the body is already doing. Work with symptoms as imagery. By focusing attention on the location of a symptom, spontaneous images can arise (distinct from mental “fabrication”). Shift perspective to create change. Moving from the “I/narrator” to the viewpoint of the image (e.g., the mountains, a closet, a wall) can soften overwhelm and open new possibilities. Use a neutral witness for trauma. Approaching a traumatic scene from the perspective of a steady object in the environment can reduce re-traumatization while allowing the experience to be processed. Dual consciousness supports integration. In psychedelic or numinous states, holding “two worlds at once” helps you stay grounded while engaging the imaginal reality. Integration is a practice. Returning to the experience, slowing it down, and revisiting it from multiple perspectives can turn a peak moment into an embodied daily exercise. BIO: Robert Bosnak is a Zurich-trained Jungian psychoanalyst specializing in dreaming. Whether you're a dreamer, therapist, ritualist, artist, or simply curious about the wisdom of the unconscious, this episode invites you into a deeper way of listening. 00:00 — Opening: Dancing With Dreams & Nightmares Introducing the episode and the invitation to meet dreams as living teachers rather than problems to fix. 03:45 — Lana Nasser on Ritual Dreamwork How ritual creates a container for working with dreams safely, creatively, and collectively. 08:20 — Nightmares as Initiation Reframing nightmares as gateways to embodied knowledge, not signs of failure or pathology. 14:10 — The Dream Hive: Collective Dreaming in Practice Exploring shared dream spaces and why dreaming together matters in times of crisis. 20:05 — Embodiment & the Body's Dream Language Why dreams are not just images, but sensations, movements, and felt experiences. 26:30 — Bees, Snakes & Dream Symbolism Working with non‑human dream figures without reducing them to fixed meanings. 33:40 — Ecofeminism, Earth, and the Unconscious How dreamwork intersects with ecological grief, care, and re‑enchantment. 40:55 — Ritual, Safety & the Nervous System The importance of pacing, consent, and grounding when working with intense dream material. 47:25 — Dreaming With Others Without Appropriation Ethics, humility, and listening when dreams cross cultural and ancestral lines. 54:10 — Closing Reflections: Living in Dialogue With Dreams How to continue the relationship with dreams beyond the night. What if a school could rebuild not just itself, but the community's trust and identity? In this episode, Carla Cummins and Nick Marmolejo sit down with Erica Thompson, Business Development professional at Wells Building Systems, to explore how schools serve as the heartbeat of their communities. From her unexpected journey through accounting and Colorado's early marijuana industry to becoming a passionate advocate for K-12 construction, Erica shares how building schools is about far more than bricks and mortar—it's about creating spaces where students discover who they are. Drawing from her work across Colorado's diverse communities, Erica reveals how the built environment shapes student identity, why schools are "networking machines," and how one Denver neighborhood fought to reclaim their closed high school—and won. Takeaways: Teamwork makes the dream work: Radically student-centered design means shifting from "me" to "we"—creating environments where students learn to build their teams and cultivate lifelong relationships Schools are networking machines: Beyond academics, schools create micro-communities—band kids, athletes, robotics crews—where students form identities and connections that last decades Research the community, not just the building: Understanding demographics, attending town halls, and reading master plans reveals what each unique community truly needs from their school Strategic, not sacrifice: When budgets tighten, stay rooted in your district's mission—make strategic decisions rather than compromising what students deserve Measure success by who comes back: When Montbello High School reopened after a decade, 1,100 of 1,200 freshman seats filled immediately—proof that communities will invest in spaces that invest in them Design for generations: Today's students become tomorrow's parents and grandparents—build schools that honor the past while serving futures you'll never see About Erica Thompson: My career began with an ambitious plan to become a nuclear engineer, which quickly pivoted (after an honest math check) to accounting. I earned my CPA license at 22 and began auditing small to mid-sized banks during the very exciting years of 2007 to 2014. That experience led me into the emerging medical marijuana industry, where I helped companies create GAAP-compliant accounting practices in a world needing it. Reconciling cash without banks was as unconventional as it sounds, and it taught me adaptability, creativity, resilience, and humor.   While entrepreneurship sparked my interest in sales, it was construction manufacturing that truly shaped my career. I entered the industry as a Sales Representative at General Shale, where I helped amplify regional brick sales and adopted my guiding motto: Teamwork Makes the Dream Work. Under the mentorship of Mark Stutz and later Jared Rabin at Rio Grande, I learned the power of solution-based selling. Shifting from providing products to solving real problems. These mentorships taught me to build long- term, developmental relationships, one of which ultimately led me to Wells.   Today, I serve in Business Development at Wells, where I focus on connecting with end users to gather insights, identify market opportunities, and support strategic growth. Surrounded by strong leadership, including Dan Parker, I've found my professional home. This role naturally led me to A4LE and a passion for learning environment spaces that do far more than house education; they anchor communities, shape generations, and serve as points of connection. I highlight leadership throughout my story because my journey has never been just about "me". It's a collective we. None of this happens alone. Teamwork Makes the Dream Work. What if the dream feels “too big” because you haven't built the capacity to hold it yet? What if success isn't missing you—but waiting for you to feel safe enough to receive it?  This week, Jessica sits down with actress Karolina Wydra (Pluribus, Sneaky Pete) to talk about the long game of manifestation. From growing up in communist Poland and internalizing scarcity and suppression, to stepping away from acting at 39 to become a mother, Karolina's story is one of surrender, self-trust, and divine timing. It's a true testimony to something central at TBM: what is meant for you will not miss you. After years of inner work, Karolina landed a life-changing role on Pluribus, fulfilling a longtime manifestation of working with Vince Gilligan. Through EMDR, nervous system regulation, Expanders, journaling, and radical honesty with herself, she shares how subconscious reprogramming helped her release the belief that her dreams were “too big” and instead expand her capacity to receive them. If you've ever feared success as much as failure, this conversation is a reminder that manifestation isn't about forcing—it's about becoming safe enough to hold what you've been calling in. Amy also shares what helped bring a mythic and numinous dimension to roles like Laurie Garvey in The Leftovers. They conclude by discussing Amy's current experience as a master's student at Harvard Divinity School and her research into the politics and possibilities of the Trickster. BIO: Amy Brenneman is an American actress, producer, writer, and political activist. We are the dreams of our ancestors; we are their hopes for the future. But sometimes their trauma is transmitted to us through nightmares. Today’s guest, Dream Journal regular Linda Schiller, will be talking about how to heal that intergenerational pain and focus on the gifts of ancestral connection. Linda talks about her own ancestors and how her grandfather, who she called Grandpa Joey, fled Kiev with his family at age of three because of the pogroms and how making borscht soup always helped her feel more connected to that side of her family. We talk about the trauma that we inherit from our ancestors but also the caring and resilience. Linda also talks about synchronicity, public trauma vs private trauma, drawing up a family tree, and dream incubation. After the break, we explore a dream of Katherine’s about doing numerical computations like she used to during her NASA career and about why she might be having this dream now over 20 years after leaving that position. In this warm, high-vibe interview, Megan (creator of Solar Glow Meditation and widely known online as the “dowsing rod girl”) shares how a surprise Reiki attunement sparked a powerful awakening—and accidentally launched her into a viral path of teaching intuition in motion. Megan breaks down how she uses dowsing rods as a practical divination tool for clarity, communication with spirit, and connecting with nature (including “talking to trees”), while also weaving in meditation, Reiki-style guided healings, and dreamwork for deeper insight. The conversation opens into star origins, ET contact, disclosure timelines, and a live dowsing session where she calls in Archangel Michael for guidance—touching on heart-based grounding, protection, extreme weather trends, energetic awakening waves, and what it means to become “ambassadors” of personal disclosure. Short clip of the convo available here: https://youtu.be/rM8OGWNenhg Rodger starts by talking about what’s changed for him since releasing his pivotal book in 2007, The History of Last Night’s Dream. He talks about dream images in the context of images in memory and perception and  about the power of images to bring feeling, whether those images are from waking life, from memory, or from dreams. We also talk about biophilia, the power of radical amazement, and finding meaning in waking life moments.
