Tordis sier at vi kan trenge en alderdom for å tenke gjennom våre liv, og akkurat dette fikk Torkil og Christine til å invitere henne til Salongen. Hva er det vi skal tenke over? Hva skal vi gi slipp på? Selv føler Tordis på en glede over å kunne dø i trygg forvissning om at sønnen Dag Tore (62) klarer seg og har det godt. Han er funksjonshemmet, og det føltes som om navlestrengen aldri kunne kuttes, sier Tordis. Hun snakker også om alt hun etter hvert har lært seg om språket han har, selv om det nesten ikke er noen ord som kommer ut av munnen hans. "Festmåltid" er et av dem. Det er også en del vemod som har kommet med alderen, særlig over å skjønne at man har gjort ting man liker for siste gang; svømme, gå på ski, elskov.

Fjortenåringen ønsker seg penger for å spare til nye pupper, 25-åringen får Botox mot «sinnarynken» i pannen, og den eldre generasjonen vil ha ungdomstiden sin tilbake. Ingen vil bli gamle, særlig ikke kvinnene. Eller? Møt fire kvinner som møter alderdommen på hver sin måte; Ingeborg Moræus Hanssen, Gunnhild Corwin, Astrid Nøklebye Heiberg og Tordis Ørjasæter.
