Let's flip the script! In the FINAL episode of the Bombshell Business Podcast, I'm passing the mic to none other than my dear friend, Amy Hinote—founder of VRM Intel and a true powerhouse in the vacation rental industry. Amy wasn't just the first person to hire me in this field; she's been by my side since day one, and our friendship has deepened through life's ups and downs, beginning with the challenges of the pandemic. There is no one else I could imagine closing out this chapter with. We reminisce about the incredible journey of this podcast, from its early days through its growth and evolution over the past seven years. Together, we dive into pivotal moments, the lessons learned, and how personal trials like love, loss, and life's curveballs have shaped us both. We also reflect on the power of women's voices in business and how purpose-driven work fuels our paths. If you've been part of this ride, this episode is my heartfelt thanks as we look back on where we've been—and look ahead to what's next. And yes, Amy will definitely be part of those future chapters! In this emotional and insightful final episode of the Bombshell Business Podcast, we discuss: The origins of the Bombshell Business Podcast, how it grew out of my passion for empowering women in business, and the milestones we've hit along the way. The shifts in women's roles in business over the past few years, particularly during the rise of movements like Me Too, and how those changes have influenced the conversations we've had on the podcast. The personal hardships I've faced, including the loss of loved ones and major life changes, and how these experiences have shaped my approach to both business and life. Some of the most impactful episodes and what they meant to me personally. (I'll note that I had not recorded the episode with my daughter at the time of this recording, and it is for sure now my favorite episode!) As we close this chapter, I talk about the future—what's next for my work, how I plan to continue supporting women in business, and the exciting projects on the horizon. As we wrap up this final episode, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who have been part of the Bombshell Business Podcast journey. Your support, your stories, and your courage have inspired me every step of the way. While this is the end of the podcast, it's not the end of our connection. I encourage you to stay in touch at amberhurdle.com/newsletter, where you can find more resources, updates on my latest projects, and ways we can continue to work together. On today's episode we share highlights of an amazing week at the Vacation Rental Women's Summit (VRWS) at The Ritz Carlton in New Orleans. This event was top-notch on every level, and the collaborative atmosphere among attendees was truly remarkable. We had the opportunity to go to dinner with keynote speaker Amber Hurdle, who was also our very first guest on the podcast (Episode 2) and has affectionately become our "spirit woman". More on that in the episode! We share highlights from our very first breakout session, where we had the founders of the startup Got2Go in the "OTA Hot Seat" for some heavy hitting Q&A with great audience participation. Side note, do you remember when Airbnb came to VRMA in 2008 and asked for our feedback as they built out their platform? Neither do we....because it didn't happen :) This collaborative session with Got2Go was unique in nature and showed how these founders are truly building a platform for hosts, by hosts. Big thanks to Amy Hinote and her incredible staff at VRM Intel that produced both the opening and closing conferences of 2021. Business travel is back, and we love being part of this collaborative industry that grows so much from these events. We also reflect on the past 2 months of learning how to build a podcast. Spoiler alert... "ALWAYS HIT RECORD"! Want to know what's in store for us in 2022? What a difference a year makes — and perhaps a pandemic. During a discussion at this year's Skift Short-Term Rental & Outdoor Summit on December 9, held online, signs of more collaborative environment emerged between cities and short-term rental operators. The discussion was moderated by Amy Hinote, founder and editor-in-chief of VRM Intel. “The industry came in and we weren’t ready as municipalities and now we’re ready for those conversations and I’m excited about them,” said Clarence Anthony, CEO and executive director of the National League of Cities. Amanda Pedigo, Expedia vice president of government and corporate affairs, and Tim Burgess, former Seattle mayor and city council member, weighed in as well about the impact of the pandemic on short-term rental players and cities desperate to revive downtown economies. To learn more about short-term rental regulations and opportunities, read this story.

Amy Hinote is an industry legend and I finally managed to get her on a podcast prior to VRMA international in New Orleans, the first city she got drunk in as a teenager. Amy rolled in with an entourage of vacation rental luminaries including Steve Milo, Simon Lehmann, and Heather Bayer, so the peanut gallery was intimidating...but that would not stop us. In this interview, we learn the history of VRMIntel through Amy’s personal growth from finance and political science to vacation rentals. We then dovetail into a discussion about the venture capital pouring into the industry and what it means for independent owners and managers. We also play out the worst case scenario for the vacation rental industry with players like Vacasa wielding so much clout. This interview is as fun and delightful as it is informative. And leave it to Amy to only do podcast interviews when they’re attached to cocktail parties.
