Fun fact: I've had more addresses in Akron than any other city. This Moody Blues parody track was written from a place of love while I was part of the Big Al & Scoop show in the early 90's on 97.5 WONE in Akron. A big story at the time was the noise ordinance in the city that would allow police to cite drivers with loud car stereos. That was the impetus for this performance and bit of satirical creative writing. I recently unearthed this track from an old cassette and thought I would share it for anyone who has ever loved or lived in Akron.

This year's display is intended to highlight the agricultural roots of the state fair, which opens Wednesday and runs through Aug. 7.The sculpting team spent 600 hours working on the display, 500 of which were spent on sculpting alone. The sculpting team began on July 9, first building steel frames of the figures before moving on to work with the butter, which Brooke said isn't much different than using clay. The fair runs July 27 - August 7717 East 17th Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43211https://www.ohiostatefair.com/Akron Events CalendarSee www.akronpodcast.com/eventsA Cop Shot a Woman who had Shot a Woman at the Oasis BarSee https://www.cleveland19.com/2022/07/29/woman-shot-by-akron-police-after-shooting-another-woman-police-say/ Reward $15,000 for Information on Pizza ShootingThere is now a total of 15,000 for information on a pizza delivery driver shooting. He was attempting to make a delivery after 10 p.m. on Grace Avenue in West Akron on July 15. Suddenly, several teens or young men came out of an abandoned house. Others came from behind the house and the group demanded the pizza worker's car, according to the victim. Instead, the driver chucked the pizza at someone holding a shotgun and tried to run away. "They didn't ask for money or nothing like that. They just wanted my car and when I was unable to give that to them, his friend said, 'Blast him,'" the victim recounted. "I started like sprinting down the driveway and that's when he fired his gun and hit me in the back." The victim, who was treated at Summa Akron City Hospital, was unable to get good descriptions of the suspects. No one has been arrested. With the suspects still on the run, there is added concern for other delivery drivers from both police and pizza shops.Stats on Policemen Who Shot Jayland WalkerThe Beacon Journal - through legal actions - have information on the cops who shot Jayland Walker.see https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/2022/07/28/jayland-walker-police-shooting-records-withheld-fired-gun/10127846002/Support the ShowGo to www.akronpodcast.com/valueEvery little bit helpsSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/akron-podcast/donations

Nearly three thousand people lined up over the weekend at the Summit County Health Department for COVID-19 testing. Many are concerns about possible symptoms, and the residents ventured to the West Akron facility to receive some confirmation or affirmation. Donna Skoda is the commissioner of that health department, and she joined the Ray Horner Morning Show to talk about where the county is during this fight against the coronavirus. Just last week, Summt County and others surrounding it entered the “purple” phase, or level four, with high risk of COVID-19, and she encourages listeners to call their doctors if they are experiencing potential symptoms of the virus before running out for a test. Skoda also mentioned the vaccine on the horizon, as well as the recommended length in quarantine days, which has conflicted on occasion with the CDC.
