OEA Locals can amplify the impact of their members' dues dollars through OEA grant programs - especially now, with the new Local Capacity Grants that are available just for completing a Local Capacity Toolkit assessment. The Tallmadge Teachers Association let the needs identified in that self-assessment drive their decisions not only to create a political action committee for their local, but also to create Action Plans to address needs in several other areas. Those Action Plans allowed them to access more Local Capacity Grant funding to support those new projects. TTA leaders join us for this episode to talk about how their Local Capacity and Wellness grants-fueled initiatives have strengthened member, student, and community engagement with their association. Chris and Paul are back for another conversation on the show, and this time the discussion starts with something that definitely caught their attention during the day. While keeping up with sports news like NFL free agency can be distracting enough, an even stranger headline popped up in Northeast Ohio — reports of Bigfoot sightings in Portage County.Yes, you read that right.According to reports circulating in the area, there have been multiple sightings of what some people believe could be Bigfoot. In fact, the story claims there have been six sightings in just the past five days. For a region that already has its share of strange stories and urban legends, that's more than enough to spark some curiosity.Chris brings up the reports during the show, asking Paul whether he had heard about the sightings and joking about whether he made a trip out to investigate. While the conversation starts lightheartedly, it quickly turns into a fun discussion about how stories like this capture the public's imagination. One of the interesting parts of the reports is the locations. Several of the sightings have been reported in Portage County, which is located in Northeast Ohio. But that's not the only place people say they've spotted something unusual. There was also a reported sighting in Cuyahoga Falls, which sits in nearby Summit County. For people who live in the region, those places aren't very far apart. That proximity adds another layer of intrigue to the story. Could people really be seeing something unusual wandering through wooded areas and parks? Or is it just a case of misidentified animals, shadows in the distance or a story that's grown bigger as it spreads online?Stories about Bigfoot have existed for decades, especially in rural areas where forests and wildlife are common. Sightings are often reported in places with lots of wooded land and limited visibility, which makes Northeast Ohio an interesting location for rumors like this to take hold.Of course, neither Chris nor Paul claims they've personally encountered anything mysterious during their day. Paul jokes that while he managed to get his work done, it was hard to contain his excitement about the possibility that something unusual might be roaming around nearby. That mix of curiosity and humor is what makes these kinds of stories so entertaining. Even if the reports turn out to be nothing more than misunderstandings or exaggerations, they still give people something fun to talk about. And in a world filled with constant headlines about politics, sports and serious issues, sometimes it's refreshing to pause and laugh about something strange happening in the local news.So what do you think? Could there really be something mysterious being spotted around Portage County and Cuyahoga Falls? Or is this just another case of a local legend growing bigger every time someone tells the story?Check out my work at:https://www.cleveland.com/staff/cpugh/Support the podcast:https://cash.app/$chrispugh3Offer 1:2026 Topps Baseball Series 1 Factory Sealed Mega Boxhttps://www.fanatics.com/mlb/mlb-merchandise/trading-cards/2026-topps-baseball-series-1-factory-sealed-mega-box/o-2309+t-81002141+d-017450348+f-283047133+f-283047133+z-9-4014397671?irclickid=3jBWaF05pxyZWGi0isRWd0EjUkux5cQ3018yUo0&irgwc=1&afsrc=1&_s=afl_impact&utm_source=Impact&utm_medium=affiliates&SSAID=5163860Offer 2:Want an easy $5?

Hey gorgeous girl—today's conversation is one that is essential, not just around Thanksgiving, but for a lifestyle! I'm sitting down with my friend, Virginia Wear Kujabi—an international speaker, author, and host of The Formed Life podcast. We unpack what it really means to live a life of gratitude, and live life beyond a transaction--"I do this for you, and You do this for me, God!" Virginia shares how her journey with gratitude began with a friend highlighting--"I don't see any gratitude in your life." Gosh! Don't we all need those kinds of friends!?! Through that wake-up call, she discovered gratitude as a spiritual practice, not just a feeling. She walks us through how giving thanks, before seeing the outcome, opens our eyes to God's fingerprints all over our lives. (For more on that, read Hebrews 11:6) Virginia shares how gratitude has become a way life and a means of intimacy with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! This episode offers practical insights and tactics to try as you seek to add more gratitude to your life beginning today!

When a child battles cancer, they need more than just medicine – they need moments of joy, strength, and normalcy. That's exactly what Project Outrun delivers through their innovative approach to supporting pediatric cancer patients and their families. In this deeply moving conversation, Courtney Salyer, Director of Operations for Project Outrun, shares how this Ohio-based nonprofit transforms the lives of children fighting cancer across all 50 states. What began eight years ago with founder Andy Shepperd creating custom Nike shoes for one young cancer patient has blossomed into a nationwide movement that has provided thousands of personalized kicks to kids in hundreds of hospital systems. The organization's brilliance lies in its "sport to heal" metaphor – rather than being defined as patients, children become "Outrun athletes" who receive not just custom shoes, but complete swag bags with medals, t-shirts proclaiming "I'm not sick, but my shoes are," and personalized paper finish lines where they can set and celebrate their own goals. The emotional highlight? Seeing kids break through those finish lines to celebrate achievements both medical and personal – from completing treatment to simply finishing second grade.Courtney's own journey from Spanish teacher to nonprofit leader, illustrates how taking a leap of faith can lead to profoundly meaningful work. Her passion shines through as she details Project Outrun's signature event – the Faster Everyday Festival and 5K – where participants get a 4:01 head start (symbolizing the less than 4% of cancer funding that goes to pediatric research) before local elite runner Aiman Scullion gives chase.Far more than just a race, this festival creates a celebratory space where Outrun families, supporters, and community members connect through carnival games, food, music, and shared purpose. It perfectly encapsulates what makes Project Outrun special – the understanding that helping kids with cancer means strengthening entire families and communities.Visit projectoutrun.org to donate, register for their June 21st festival in Cuyahoga Falls, or learn how to create your own fundraiser campaign. Because when it comes to helping kids outrun cancer, we all have a role to play.

Send us a textThis episode of The Anxious Rambler podcast focuses on the host's recent concert experiences seeing The War on Drugs for two nights in Ohio and Kentucky and a solo trip to see My Morning Jacket in Savannah, Georgia. The hosts begin by talking about their road trip to Columbus, Ohio, the first stop on their concert adventure. They discuss the enjoyment of driving into a city at night and listening to music and their excitement about the upcoming shows. The host shares that, other than a previous two-night stint with The War on Drugs in Louisville and Indianapolis, this is her first experience attending back-to-back shows by the same band. They also talk about their positive impressions of Columbus and Cleveland. The first concert took place at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The host recounts the beauty of the venue, located in a national park, and its history as the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra. They go on to describe The War on Drugs' setlist, noting standout songs and moments. The setlist included “Oceans of Darkness,” “Pain,” “Ocean in Between the Waves,” “I Don't Want to Wait,” “Harmonious Dreams,” “Strangest Thing,” “Come to the City,” and “In Reverse.”.The host shares a story about reconnecting with a former coworker, Lane, during the show. She describes how she thought she recognized the woman sitting in front of her but couldn't believe it was actually her. They hadn't seen each other in 16 years. Lane later turned around and told the host she had been talking about her on the way to the show, specifically mentioning how much the host loves The War on Drugs and wishing she had more friends with similar taste in music.Next, the hosts talk about the second concert, which was at the Bourbon and Beyond festival in Louisville, Kentucky. The host compliments the festival's side-by-side stage set-up and voices her distaste for VIP sections at shows. The setlist for this performance was similar to the previous night's but with the addition of "Red Eyes," which was played instead of "Strangest Thing," and the covers "Play It All Night Long" and "Under the Pressure." It started to rain during the last two songs of the set, a phenomenon that the host believes is a regular occurrence at outdoor War on Drugs shows. Due to her enthusiastic dancing and energy, the host is dubbed the "fan MVP" by other concert attendees and even manages to score a copy of the setlist. The final part of the episode focuses on the host's recent trip to Savannah, Georgia, where she saw My Morning Jacket with her best friend from home, Shaie. The host describes becoming emotional upon hearing that baseball legend Pete Rose had died just before My Morning Jacket took the stage. Rose, a Cincinnati Reds player and an important figure in the host's family, had even recorded a Cameo video message for the host's father four years prior. The host shares that she and her friend were then escorted to the front of the stage by an usher just as the lights went down. The host goes on to highlight standout moments from the 20-song setlist, which included “Gideon,” a Chris Kristofferson cover, a Nina Simone cover, and an encore consisting of “Golden,” “Off the Record,” and “Dance Floors”. Here's an album filled with some of the biggest big band jazz orchestra leaders there ever were. And they're the songs that each leader was most identified by. It's also a special promotional copy with a Cleveland area connection, which is probably why it's in my dad's collection. Plus it brought back some memories of TV commercial gold. So get ready to hear tunes that introduced the bands that played them in Volume 198: Big Band Themes. Correction: Lawson's Milk Company was founded in Cuyahoga Falls, not Chagrin Falls, which is what I said in the episode. More information about this album, see the Discogs webpage for it. Ohio Metaphysics and Paranormal Research (OMPR) is a team that specializes in investigating potential home and business paranormal activity. OMPR is dedicated to helping people understand and coexist with what may be lurking in the shadows by attempting to bridge the gap between the living and the unknown. We do in-depth historical research to try to explain possible activities. It is the goal of OMPR to provide answers that may be needed. OMPR approaches every investigation with care, integrity, and respect for our client's privacy. We are committed to working side-by-side with other paranormal teams and investigators. OMPR also helps to support historical locations by donating our time to paranormal investigations. It is the goal of OMPR to assist our clients and communities while furthering our knowledge and experience of the paranormal. Amber Founder, Case Manager & Lead Investigator Amber Wellman grew up in Barberton, Ohio but moved to Cuyahoga Falls with her 2 children in 2005, where she still resides. She first became aware of the paranormal as a very young child, she didn't just have the typical imaginary friend…. She had “the guys”. She has seen and felt and heard things others didn't but it was chalked up to her imagination until she got old enough it was confirmed to be supernatural. She tried to make sense of it all. That is what fueled her interest in the paranormal further, the strange occurrences she was aware of but other people around her weren't. She would see people standing nearby that others didn't, or hear whispers in her ear at night while trying to sleep, or black shadows swirling around the ceiling. All these things made her wonder what more was out there. She wanted to learn more and not be afraid of the things happening. She has been a paranormal enthusiast for years, searching for answers to the unknown, but professionally only since 2015 when she joined Ectovision Paranormal as a case manager. She has investigated numerous places from famous such as the Hinsdale House, Madison Seminary, and Monroe House to personal homes. She now tries to help others get answers and make sense of the paranormal, the unknown. She co-founded this team in the hopes of helping other teams, places, or homeowners find the answers they are searching for. Her religious beliefs are from being raised in different churches growing up. Amber is an ordained minister and while she believes in God/Creator, she was also raised with native american beliefs. So while she's not a religious person, she is spiritual. She believes that angels do watch over us all but you get back what you put out into the universe. Chris Lead IT, Spirit Counselor & Investigator Chris was born in Ohio, but he has lived in many other places. He has learned spiritual nuances from the many places he has lived from northeastern Ohio to the Smoky Mountains of Georgia; a reservation in South Dakota to Amish country in western New York and points in between. He currently resides in Summit County, Ohio with his wife and children. Chris is an ordained minister who has spent his life interested in and studying the supernatural. He is an empath and both an excellent listener and observer. He suffered from night terrors as a small child, and always searched for a meaning behind why they happened to him. This led him to a deeper study and research of the paranormal and psychology, how it affects life, and how life affects it. Chris also has experience as an investigator and production hand with EctoVision Paranormal. Where he investigated and assisted in filming investigations for private residences and historical sites including places such as The Monroe House, and the Hinsdale House. Chris is actually quite skeptical about most paranormal activities, and yet open possibilities both mundane and supernatural. As a student of both psychology and parapsychology, he has a clear understanding that the world is more than we see, hear, feel, and often understand, but this also means he is always looking for the best answers. Robin Researcher & Investigator As a youngster I grew up hearing my elders whisper about my maternal; great-grandmother and her " cards" and her "gift", how she has lived a gypsy lifestyle, running away and joining the circus at 14 years old. It wasn't until I was older that I figured out what all the talk was about. I was gifted her "cards" which turned out to be a deck of tarot cards. I have fond memories of playing "cards" with my great-grandmother, little did I know, she was reading my cards! It was a few years later that I learned that she was a clairvoyant, it was then that I became interested in the metaphysical and spirituality. Upon moving out and feeling free to explore, I began reading and learning about my interest. Upon my father's passing, is when I became interested in the paranormal. I had several experiences where I felt his presence before he crossed over. My experiences lead me to further research about paranormal activity and I have spent years reading, talking, and learning about the world of paranormal activity. I have gone on to have many paranormal experiences. which has kept me interested in learning how I may be of help to others. I have lived in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County since I was 7 years old. I am a history buff of sorts and familiar with folklore and urban legends regarding the area. I am a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. My motto in life is " The day you think you know it all, is the day you need to throw in the towel" Justine Researcher & Investigator I have had an interest in the paranormal & metaphysical world for as long as I can remember. Most of us had an imaginary friend, I believe I had a spirit. Most often when a child has a spirit it gets shrugged off as an imaginary friend. Back when I was a child no one talked about it the paranormal, they would believe you were crazy. I see and sometimes feel the energy around me. In regard to the metaphysical world, I have accumulated several stones, gems, and practices. My sister and I go out late a night to places to just sit and see if we connect with anyone. It is really great to share this with my sister by birth. She feels and does not see. A lot of the time we are just called sisters.

Hi everybody and welcome to this week's episode of Attendance Bias. I am your host, Brian Weinstein. A few months ago, I arranged an episode with a guest who wanted to talk about Phish's performance of “Free” from August 2, 2022 at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. After trying to set up a recording date and time with the guest, things eventually fell through. I was left with a great jam and a boatload of notes with no one to talk to about it.I put out a call on Phish Twitter and got such a response! It seemed like everybody wanted to talk about this jam, and I can see why. Luckily, we were able to arrange two guests for this fantastic jam: one returning guest–Mike Lowe, who was previously on Attendance Bias to discuss the all-time version of “Fluffhead” from Alpine Valley ‘99, and a brand-new guest: Mercedes from Phish Twitter, or you may know her better as ZzBenz. Either way, it was a perfect way to blend the familiar with the new to go over what several people referred to as the 2022 Jam of the Year.Moving through several sections, Phish took the second set opener and took the audience on a musical journey that felt like it was composed and spontaneous at the same time. But I don't want to spoil it. Let's join Mercedes and Mike to talk about Summer 2022, planetarium music, and Hansen, as we discuss “Free” from August 2, 2022 at Blossom.
