Do not pass Go, do not collect $200, just hit play. Now. Please. Teen idol, Willie Aames, shares heart, romance, love, sensitivity, thoughtfulness, emotional intelligence, great ideas, humility, humanity, forgiveness, speaks of destiny, success, bottoming out, addiction, recovery, reinvention, study, diligence, persistence, getting everything, losing it all, rebuilding, and, in the end, winning… Winnie. One of the greatest love stories ever told, coupled with one of the most sobering tales of abuse and excess which took an overachiever and kicked him to the curb. From TV screens at 9 - The Courtship of Eddie's Father, The Odd Couple, Medical Center, hanging around soundstages with Lucille Ball and John Wayne, to co-starring on Family, Eight is Enough, Zapped. Paradise, Charles in Charge, to Bibleman, Willie had it all and then was suddenly uncastable. An injury led to Oxycotin which led to losing everything–– money, his marriage, children, his home… and how he rebuilt his life, studying, training, and becoming a financial investor, to cruise ship director, full circle back to writing, and acting, coupled with the destined love of his life—happier than he's ever been. Winning with Winnie. I loved every second of this time with Wille, there are so many takeaways. I'll be listening to this again, and again, and will remain forever thankful to now count Willie Ames as a friend. I'll introduce ya. Season 6 Episode 12 Mark and Christopher launch the long awaited #summeroft&a ! Scott Baio, Willie Ames and Heather Locklear! There are lots of unsung hotties in this VERY flawed film but nonetheless, it's a worthwhile addition to the VHS Rewind! episodes! Enjoy!
Scott Baio knows a thing or two about longevity in Hollywood, and you will too after hearing his stories about playing Chachi on "Happy Days" & "Joanie Loves Chachi," Charles on "Charles In Charge," and Bob Loblaw on "Arrested Development." He's also talking "Zapped," "Battle of The Network Stars," Howard Cosell, hockey, Willie Ames, and reality television.
Next time on Episode 6 of the Cult Film Club, hosts Paxton, Jaime and Shawn will be will be tackling the 1982 Bob Rosenthal teen sex comedy Zapped! Starring the future Charles in Charge power couple Scott Baio and Willie Ames, the film focuses on a nerdy senior named Barney who accidentally unlocks the power of telekinesis after an explosion in the school lab. What's a boy to do with his new-found power? Well, undress the student body of course. For science. The flick also features the busty Heather Thomas, the Fact's of Life's Felice Schachter, and one of the best dream sequences in modern history involving Scatman Crothers, Einstein and some flying salami!
Paul and Gordie celebrate Boxing Day the old fashioned way, with fifths of scotch and Christmas stories aplenty. Paul receives many unexpected packages and Gordie gets a great package from the EOC Holiday Exchange, filled with the smell of old comics and autographs. Gordie has found a new vocabulary hiccup and talks PROG. Paul is a great sleeper and doesn't know that WILLIE AMES is now THE BIBLEMAN. SPACE 1999, FRANK ZAPPA, DWEEZIL ZAPPA, ALICE COOPER, TWISTED FUCKING SISTER, LITA FORD, Y & T, CHEAP TRICK, BLITZEN TRAPPER, PUGWASH, NRBQ, THE MUFFS and REDD KROSS all show up too.
