“You're in acting class and you're studying Chekov or ‘Waiting for Godot' -- and then you end up doing 80s tits-and-a**… You caught on pretty quick what it was about and where the power lay.” -- Actress Heather ThomasWhat was it like to be an 80s poster icon and sex symbol? Susan and Sharon welcome The Fall Guy star and “80s Poster Lady” Heather Thomas. She's an actor, writer and activist -- but may be best known for her “Pink Bikini” poster, one of the best-selling pin-up posters of all time. Heather Thomas had leading roles in television shows like BJ and the Bear, The Love Boat and TJ Hooker -- as well as the movie Zapped! with Scott Baio, Willie Aames and Felice Schachter. But her most famous role was playing stuntwoman Jody Banks on the hit 80s television series The Fall Guy. Running for five seasons on ABC, The Fall Guy spawned board games, posters, a video game -- and just last year, a major feature film starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt -- and Heather Thomas! Since her days as a TV star and pin-up queen, Heather Thomas has gone on to an extraordinary career as a novelist, political activist, organizer and fund-raiser. NOTE: This episode was recorded Dec. 2024, before the LA Fires. Our thoughts are with Heather and her family, and all those impacted by the fires. Stay safe. Be well. THE CONVERSATIONWORKING WITH MONKEYS: Clyde, the orangutan from Every Which Way But Loose, was her co-star once: “He thought it was funny to keep grabbing my boob. I thought he was gonna rip it off!” And a stint on BJ and the Bear led to producer Glen Larsen tapping her for the co-starring role in The Fall Guy. WORKING WITH TV PRODUCERS: “All of them are crazy. You're not gonna find any normal ones, not in those days. Everyone was nuts. And they still are.”"Smile more": Early on, the ABC network executives were afraid that Heather Thomas wasn't likable. So they put her in a bikini. “I guess that made up for me not smiling enough.” STUNT WORK: “Lee Majors almost broke my nose once.” "I was good on rollerskates!"In preparation for a Fall Guy episode, Heather trained with the Los Angeles Thunderbirds roller-derby team: “They showed me how to ‘break my back' on the rail -- it was really fun!”Ted Lange -- Isaac, the bartender on The Love Boat -- was one of Heather's favorite directors on the Fall Guy.A GOOD DIRECTOR: For Heather, it was someone who brought her into the filmmaking process. For Lee Majors -- it was anyone who got him home by 5:00pm! THE POSTER: Once the show was a hit, a poster was the next big step: “It outsold Farrah Fawcett. I bought a house. I was thrilled.”DIS-LIKENESS: Heather's image has been hi-jacked and used for everything from lighters, to puzzles, to notebook covers -- to a pillow!ON HAVING A FAMOUS BODY: “My body was my living. That's how I saw it. So I had to feed it, exercise it -- I couldn't have an ounce of cellulite. It was part of the gig. But I didn't care, I was grateful. I was making more money than I ever had in my life. I was a kid.”ZAPPED! -- Teen sex comedy -- or sexual harassment? “They tried to get me topless, but my contract said uh-uh! So, they used a body double. There's a big disclaimer at the end of the movie saying that it's not my tits.”Activism: “Ever since they said, ‘You can't climb the tree, the boys can' -- I was a feminist.”So join Susan and Sharon -- and Heather -- as they talk fly-fishing, Star Wars, David Letterman,Teen Beat, Shaun Cassidy & Parker Stevenson, “Gabor-lore”, Cliff Robertson's toupeé, organizing your phone by decade, not complying in advance -- and canoeing with Henry Winkler!AUDIO-OGRAPHYFind Heather Thomas on Twitter at Twitter.com/HeatherThomasAF And find Heather Thomas on BlueSky at HeatherThomasAF.bsky.social Watch Heather Thomas in The Fall Guy on Peacock, Amazon Prime or Flixfling!Check DontGetPurged.org to make sure your name has not been purged from voter rolls!Find out more about CREW at CitizensForEthics.orgVITAL READINGGet Handbook for A Post-Roe America by Robin Marty at Bookshop.org.Check out Men In Dark Times by Hannah Ahrendt at Bookshop.org.Read Democracy Awakening by Heather Cox Richardson at Bookshop.org.You can also follow Richardson's substack.SUPPORT FOR THE LA FIRESOnline at DisasterAssistance.gov On the FEMA App for mobile devices or Call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362Calls are accepted every day from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. PST.More resources at Eaton Canyon Community Relief.Google List of LA County Resources. Danny's old friend Willie Aames stops by to reminisce about the fun they had together!
THE JEREMIAH SHOW - Featuring Jef Scott! The story of a rock and roll legend. Jef Scott's story is that of LA rock and roll lore...Strap in! Jef's first band was GEISHA. They played the Sunset Strip and toured the U.S.A. After he left GEISHA, Jef formed his own band. After playing a show one night at The Whiskey, he met actor Willie Aames who attended Jef's show. Willie was a teen idol star from the ABC show called EIGHT IS ENOUGH. Willie asked Jef to write songs for an upcoming album he was about to make and their recording sessions ultimately landed Jef to act in the last season of EIGHT IS ENOUGH as Willie's best friend and bandmate. Jef played on Tori Amos' LITTLE EARTHQUAKES, international artists James Reyne( Australia), Paul Hyde (Canada), Gregory Gray (Ireland), The Royal Macadamians, and Olivia Newton-John, to name a few. When Jef wrote songs and recorded James Reyne's album, James invited Jef to be his musical director and put a band together in Australia. Jef moved to Melbourne in late 1987, founded a great band including Andy Cichon (current bass player for Billy Joel), and toured the whole country of Australia for two years. In Australia, Jef formed a band called COMPANY OF STRANGERS. It was and still is one of the most successful albums in Australian history, winning Simon and Jef 3 ARIA Awards. Jef is signed to Sony/Orchard and continues to release new music. He has also written songs for TV shows SONS OF ANARCHY, VAMPIRE DIARIES, BEVERLY HILLS 90210, and MELROSE PLACE For the past 15 years, Jef and his writing partner Cody Marks, have teamed up with Wayne Kramer( MC5) and the organization JAIL GUITAR DOORS, playing concerts at California State prisons. Jef is also the creator and host of the popular podcast featured on Radio Candy Radio, BATWINGS. Jef has written a film currently in production called LOST AND FOUND, filming in Portland, Oregon in conjunction with James Standridge and Salmon River Film. We're headed back to school this week with Scott Baio and Willie Aames, as we watch the 1982 teen sex comedy, Zapped!Join us as we discuss the weird middleground between coming-of-age story and sex comedy this movie tries to exist in, that odd Carrie-like ending, and Scott Baio. Dennis is joined via Zoom by Dion Labriola, the filmmaker and the subject of the documentary Dear Ike: Lost Letters to a Teen Idol, which is screening on World Animation Day on PBS SoCal and is also available for streaming on PBS.org. The movie documents Dion's teenage obsession with the child actor Ike Eisenmann from Escape to Witch Mountain and also a Doublemint gum commercial that was ubiquitous is the late 1970's. As a teen, Dion had a vision for an animated movie that he wanted to make and he was determined to convince his iold Ike to be one of the voices. In fact, he was so determined that he spent much of his teen years trying to track Ike down. Dion talks about what it was like to eventually be face-to-face with his teen idol, how his intense focus on the project related to his being a closeted gay teen, his attempt to get Larry Wilcox from CHiPs to help him get to Ike and the art teacher Pat Bishop who gave him a safe haven in school. Other topics include: that time Geraldo Rivera came to Dion's hometown of Akron, Ohio to chase after a pimp, Battle of the Network Stars-era cuties like Mike Lookinland, Gregory Harrison and Willie Aames, the fig gelato Dion had on his 30th birthday that he still dreams about and that time the comedian Carrot Top visited Dion in his deejay booth in a Chicago nightclub. www.dearike.com

With the recent passing of legendary director, and Grindbin All Star, Ruggero Deodato (Raiders of Atlantis), the bin and Lee and Leah from TMBDOS! celebrate one of his lesser talked about films, Cut and Run (1985). Often mistaken for a cannibal movie (like Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust), Cut and Run is a drug running movie with a brilliant performance from Grindbin all star Richard Lynch and an incredibly unhinged performances from Bibleman himself, Willie Aames.
(01-04-2020) - we saw Willie Aames grow ups on the ABC Sitcom "Eight is Enough" and later joining Scott Bail on "Charles in Charge". but did you know Aames also was a cruise director on a cruise ship...for real. Billionaire turd Elon Musk got booed bigly at a Dave Chappelle show. The tech bro load, who isn't the richest person on the planet anymore, is also ruining Trump's 2024 presidential chances by stealing the d-bag spotlight. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said a recession isn't happening despite the inflation caused partly by the war in Ukraine. Mama Nazi, AKA Marjorie Taylor Greene, said if she would have planned the insurrection on January 6th, it would have involved even more guns. Hobgoblin Kari Lake and her henchmen have been called out by the courts for bringing crap, frivolous lawsuits related to her failed gubernatorial campaign. Bad cops have been exiting stage-left in NYC. Sad-sack Texas Republicans voted for new leadership after disappointing midterms. Vile Q freak and pizza-gate enthusiast Liz Crokin made an appearance at Mara Lago where she blathered much stupidity. An African American Airbnb guest was shot for walking to the grocery because America is a racist dumpster fire. We also talked about Bibleman's titular character Willie Aames for a bit.
It would be safe to assume that a large percentage of people remember the show "Charles In Charge". The show ran for 126 episodes and had a very strong run in syndication. But despite being one of the more popular shows of the late '80s, if you were to start watching the show again from the first episode the majority of you would have a hard time remembering most of the cast. That's because after a first season of mediocre ratings, CBS decided to pull the trigger on the show. The entire cast, with the exception of Scott Baio (Charles) and Willie Aames (Buddy) was changed. With a new look the show started gaining some traction and became what you know remember today. Was the original cast strong enough to keep the show running without the need to change it? Find out as we deep dive Charles In Charge's 1984 pilot episode. www.S1E1POD.com Starring: Scott Baio, Willie Aames, Jennifer Runyon, April Lerman, Jonathan Ward, Michael Pearlman, Michael Sharrett, James Widdoes, & Julie Cobb
We are finally covering one of the most beloved and well-known pieces of Christian children's entertainment — BIBLEMAN — and we have a special guest to help us. Harleigh Ellsworth is not only the star of the 2001 BIBLEMAN episode “LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION”, but she is also the daughter of Willie Aames (who plays the titular BIBLEMAN in addition to writing, directing, and editing the original series) and Maylo McCaslin (who voices BIBLEMAN's trusty computer U.N.I.C.E.) Harleigh tells us how the BIBLEMAN franchise was almost fully a family production, since her father Willie Aames was so hands on in all aspects of the show, including spending nearly 9 months per year touring as a part of the elaborate Bibleman live show that drew crowds of kids all over the United States. The episode we focus on today is truly a family affair, since mom, dad, and daughter all appear in the cast. In LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION (2001), Harleigh plays Riley, a newly converted Christian 12-year-old who is tempted to rejoin her old friend group, who are bad influences on her and would not be beneficial to her on her spiritual path. Parallel to this Christian moral quandary is a storyline about an evil, hypnotic website called www.HackEmUp.com that recurring BIBLEMAN villain Luxor Spawndroth uses to tempt insecure Christians and lead them back to their sinful past lives. Can BIBLEMAN and his hacker protege Cypher stop Riley from throwing her faith away? It was a pleasure to get such an intimate, inside look at the media we cover from someone who was there to see it all happen, so we can't thank Harleigh enough for spending the time to share her family's unique story with us. Also, shoutouts to our friend Dana for assisting us with the research for this. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200, just hit play. Now. Please. Teen idol, Willie Aames, shares heart, romance, love, sensitivity, thoughtfulness, emotional intelligence, great ideas, humility, humanity, forgiveness, speaks of destiny, success, bottoming out, addiction, recovery, reinvention, study, diligence, persistence, getting everything, losing it all, rebuilding, and, in the end, winning… Winnie. One of the greatest love stories ever told, coupled with one of the most sobering tales of abuse and excess which took an overachiever and kicked him to the curb. From TV screens at 9 - The Courtship of Eddie's Father, The Odd Couple, Medical Center, hanging around soundstages with Lucille Ball and John Wayne, to co-starring on Family, Eight is Enough, Zapped. Paradise, Charles in Charge, to Bibleman, Willie had it all and then was suddenly uncastable. An injury led to Oxycotin which led to losing everything–– money, his marriage, children, his home… and how he rebuilt his life, studying, training, and becoming a financial investor, to cruise ship director, full circle back to writing, and acting, coupled with the destined love of his life—happier than he's ever been. Winning with Winnie. I loved every second of this time with Wille, there are so many takeaways. 70 Movies We Saw in the 70s: Ep #24 — JEREMY (1973) Fun City Editions kingpin Jonathan Hertzberg joins Mike and Ben to celebrate Vinegar Syndrome’s surprise Black Friday release of the Robby Benson-Glynnis O’Connor teen romance JEREMY (1973)! Gloriously awkward and credibly adolescent highlights include: • Robby Benson, sensitive Tiger Beat pin-up! • Glynnis O’Connor, sensitive Linda Blair-type! • Joe Brooks, composer of “You Light Up My Life,” star of IF EVER I SEE YOU AGAIN and — hoo-boy — what a creep! • The injustice of Robby Benson not scoring his own AM Gold chart-topper in the era of Shaun Cassidy, Andy Gibb, Leif Garrett, and Rex Smith! • The ability to buy a movie ticket at any time and see W.C. Fields, the Marx Brothers and/or King Kong during NYC’s “Fun City” era! • The cosmic connection between JEREMY and ON THE RIGHT TRACK! • The Dennis Christopher of BREAKING AWAY vs. the Dennis Christopher of CIRCUITRY MAN! • The case to be made for Willie Aames as an “edgy” teen idol! • The powers and abilities of “Supporting Characters” host Bill Ackerman that go far beyond those of any mortal podcaster! • Ben Reiser’s intensely “at-home” personal connection to Linda Manz, Ruth Gordon, and Lee Strasberg! • Yet another visit to Mike McPadden’s 12-year old psyche as it created a graphic carnival sodomy scene from ODE TO BILLY JOE that does not, in fact, exist! Wow! This was a great episode! Suzann Holland joins me to discuss this interesting episode about bi-racial families and racism in 1877. We discuss the origin of the word, Injun, discuss Spotted Eagle and Willie Aames hairstyles, play the Eight is Enough theme song and wonder if The Sioux should have considered writing songs about […]
We tackle (pun!) S2E10 - "Win For Felix" - in which Oscar teaches Felix how to coach Leonard's (Felix's son) football team. We discuss how The Odd Couple was a pioneer in showing a divorced dad on TV acting emotionally open with his son, the pedigree and professionalism of Willie Aames, and Knute Rockne.
Jennifer Runyon and Willie Aames return for a second visit on Ault-onomous.
Introduction! Thanks for the warm and overwhelming support on the return! Chapter 007 Recap Parzival has an epiphany that his home school planet of Ludus is actually the resting place of the Tomb of Horrors. After exploiting away to travel there without zero credits, he manages to find the entrance and makes his way in, ready for the perils that lie ahead. Chapter 0008 Summary With the help of a map from the Tomb of Horrors module, Parzival makes his way through the treacherous tomb avoiding traps and monsters and collecting a heavy amount of gold pieces along the way. He's eventually confronted by Acererak who challenges him to a best 2 out of 3 game of Joust, the classic arcade game. Parzival bests Acererak winning the copper key along with a clue to the first gate but before he's able to leave the Tomb of Horrors, he's stopped short of the entrance by a mysterious figure who making their way inside as well… Chapter 0008 Narrative Parzival uses his map to navigate through the ToH and avoid most of the traps and monsters Levels up like a few types of classes; monster xp vs GP xp; gp xp converts to OASIS credits He eventually makes his way to the Pillared Throne Room where he sees a throne and Acereak sitting there which is a break from the D&D module The voices inside our heads here - what did you hear when you read the booK? "Not horses," he replied, stepping away from his throne. "Birds." The rules to win a copper key, best two out of three. Of course, Parzival had honed his skills over time and credits Aech as it was his favorite (and former) game used to settle asinine pop culture disputes, but did you ever take issue with just how good Wade/Parzival was at everything? I've seen some of the negative criticism from people who didn't paritcularly like the novel and it's a go-to for a lot of those people. Parzival gets his arse handed to him in match #1; but then asks to play on the other side in order to win games 2 and 3 After the second win, Acererak pounds on the side of the cabinet smashing into pixles and graciously congratulates Parzival before taking the form of Anorak. Anaorak hands him the copper key, and Parzival notice two lines of text etched into the key reading, “What you seek lies hidden in the trash on the deepest level of Daggorath.” He immediately knows exactly what this hints refers to and has a hunch that he needs to travel to Middletown, a re-creation of Halliday's hometown as a boy. There, in Halliday's old home, he would find a "Dungeons of Daggorath" game and somehow that would lead him to the first gate to use the copper key on. All he needed to do now was get out of the Tomb of Horrors and make his way immediately there, but just as he was leaving the tomb, he is confronted by the silhouette of another avatar… The Pop! We were longing for simpler times, when all you needed to be happy were video games, psychic powers and a few garter belts. We start off with 1983's Joysticks from maestro Greydon Clark. It is enjoyable if you think of it as a parody of the teen-sex-comedy genre, but extremely rough-going if you watch it as a regular movie. We follow that up with the "star"-packed 1982 movie Zapped, with Willie Aames and Scott Baio caught up in basically a Disney movie with boobs...it is not good, but it really took us back to that simpler time when we had no idea just how problematic these types of stories were. Listen in and let us know where your cinematic "happy places" are and let's all try to find some relief during these trying times. Please send emails to flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com. You can also reach us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Remember little Tommy Bradford on Eight Is Enough? Of course you do. I'll bet Willie Aames was on Tiger Beat Magazine as much as anybody back in the day. The hearthrob Bradford was to teens what his TV older sibling Grant Goodeve was to the 20-somethings of the late 70's. Willie's story is amazing. AND LET ME SAY THIS… He was THE MOST HONEST INTERVIEW I have ever had. He shared personal moments of his life that can help any of us that have gone through or are going through rough times. His interview actually had an effect on me. He is a class act and this one is an interview for everyone. His story needs to be told. He is a guy who has the ability to change lives through his tales and inspire all the while. He has battled and beaten drug addiction, divorce and bankruptcy but he is stepping into the limelight once again…but BOXING? Are you serious? Yes we are. Willie is appearing in a celebrity boxing match on May 16th in Philly. Hard to believe but this battle warn veteran is actually boxing to raise money for charity. A portion of the proceeds for the bout will go to an organization to battle financial illeteracy. You see, Willie just recently declared bankruptcy and had to sell his belongings to pay off more than 300-thousand dollars in debts. Now he's trying to help others from reaching the same place in life he did. As he puts it…”I'm fighting my way through school.” The money he gets from the fight will go to pay for his school where he will study finance so as to help celebrities and pro sports players on managing their money. It is a pay per view bout and you can get more info by going to www.iclips.net. But if you want to remember him the way WE like to then check out this clip…it will jog the ol memory bank for sure. ALSO, here's a little trivia teaser of what you'll get in our interview with Willie. DID YOU KNOW… Willie played the son of Felix Unger (Tony Randall) in television's The Odd Couple in the early 70's. Like that did ya? More in the interview…check it out.

(01-04-2020) - We start a new year with a man of many careers. His fans remember Willie Aames as one of the family members of the 70's TV shows "Eight is Enough", and "Charles in Charge" with TAC 176 interviewee Scott Baio. But did you also know that he raced Jeeps, worked on a fishing boat and spent time as a Cruise Director on a cruise ship? Scott joined Randy Kerdoon and "Hot Rod" Bob Beck for some "My Mother the Car trivia", a movie review of "Ford vs. Ferrari" and auditioning in front of actor/car guy, the late Paul Newman.
Dwight and Rhonda Hull are the husband and wife team behind Beelieve Paranormal (http://www.beelieveparanormal.com/home.html) , which has hosted the A Haunting in the Desert paranormal conference in Tombstone, Arizona, the past several years. (For 2020, the dates are May 15-17.) But their paracon is unique. For one thing, it's much more intimate than most. Space is limited. Only so many tickets are sold. They do this purposely to give people a chance to have the best chance of connecting not only with like-minded para peeps, but also with the other side too. For another, have you ever heard of another conference that does Story Time with Ghost Children? The conference also offers a lot of what other paracons do, such as: Investigations (this year's will include the Buford House, Courtland ghost town, and Wyatt Earp House and Gallery) Lectures A celebrity panel (including, Willie Aames, Jennifer Runyon and Mr. Haunted Jimmy Petonito) A smudging ceremony (will the deer show up again this year?) The Hulls are not only paranormal investigators, but also psychic mediums and authors. Dwight also possesses the gift of being a pet psychic and animal communicator. The Hulls came to Court's attention when Rhonda reached out to ask if A Haunting in the Desert could be included in the Paracons & Horror Fests (https://www.hauntjaunts.net/find-paranormal-halloween-horror-event/paracons-horror-fests/) listings. After seeing not only what all the con had to offer, but learning a little about the Hulls themselves, Court wanted to know more. She was delighted when they accepted her invitation to chat. Hopefully you enjoy listening as much as Court enjoyed getting to know the Hulls and their A Haunting in the Desert conference. Want more Haunt Jaunts? Willie Aames is an award-winning, platinum-selling writer, producer/director who starred in 22 network series and has a long list of credits. Despite his Hollywood successes, low self esteem, overbearing parents and childhood stardom were only the beginning of his struggles. His career faltered. After an appearance on Celebrity Fit Club, his life completely fell apart and Willie ended up in bankruptcy, homeless and divorced. While pulling himself up by his bootstraps, Willie took an out-of-the-blue opportunity and became a 6-star cruise director. His whole life turned around. Listen to this AMAZING Hollywood story where the happy ending truly happens on a love boat.
Get out your Aqua Net go get stoned with a savage. The beef is back with some new reviews for you. I am sans Jamie and X on this one. Jennifer Runyon is “that girl” of the 1980’s; her sunny personality and iconic looks made her a staple on many legendary TV shows. From her time seeing through Billy Murray in Ghostbusters to her lighting up Charles In Charge as Gwendolyn Pierce, Jen was and still is America’s sweetheart. Like the sun... she's also hot. Here comes the devil and four black stallions on my ass! This week we’ve slipped back to 1982 to check Scott Baio’s screwball Carrie-inspired comedy, Zapped! Before Charles got put in charge, Baio and Willie Aames starred in this precursor to Chronicle, about geeky teen Barney who gets telekinetic powers and flips out, using them to strip the whole town naked. Poor Barney. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support
Movie Meltdown - Episode 190 All right kids... put on your space helmets, because we are about to blastoff with Luigi Cozzi's science fiction "classic" - STARCRASH! Epic outer space action ensues as we indulge in all the stellar special effects and fine acting that 1978 Italy had to offer! Plus we feature a "One from the Vaults" memory from the (Stella) Star of the movie - Caroline Munro herself! Hear what Caroline thinks is a great "word" to describe this film. And what she first though when she saw her very special outer space costume! All that plus the early acting skills of a young David Hasselhoff, the villainous cape-whipping of Joe Spinell, the over-powering futuristic hair of Marjoe Gortner and a career-making performance from none other then Oscar-winner Christopher Plummer!! So venture into the TechniColor stars with us as we also mention... the ubiquitous space wedgie, Ray Harryhausen, watching movies with Roger Corman, a planet of scantily-clad women, Jason and the Argonauts, a 70's bowling trophy, Rock-a-doodle, chewing the scenery, zipping up your spacesuit, Michael Bolton, Ming the Mericiless, the location scout, there's a fish in the percolator, Gizmo Duck, computers in '78, The Neverending Story 2, Piranaha DD, young Lily Tomlin in space, stairs or the fireman's pole?, The Brave Little Toaster, nervous robots, Scorsese in space!, beating Lucas to the punch, the first time I remember noticing product placement, porn without the sex, Willie Aames, that is no way to make a dildo, All Dogs Go to Heaven, robot chauvinism, space popped collar and robots with pirate swords. Spoiler Alert: You don't want to ruin this fine film... go watch "Starcrash" before listening. "If 2001 made you feel like you were in space. This movie made you feel like, you were in someone's basement." "...But it's an awesome basement!"
