I've decided to end the podcast. Listen for all the details. Download any and all episodes to keep for yourselves. Thanks to all my guests and listeners over the years!
GORDIE is joined bt his long time friend since grammar school, MARTIN HVEEM! We break down how we met all those years ago in NAPA and learn new details along the way. Early sports connections, finding skateboarding, comic books, baseball cards, church, moving around, rules, learning what not to do by watching others, our mutal influences from role models, music, girlfriends and MARTIN tells about his journey to becoming a well-renowned auto restorer. And everything else inbetween. This one is quite long, but there's a PAUSE BUTTON for a reason.
STEPHEN BREIT returns to THE GORDCAST and we begin with the old podcast trope of “weather talk”and work into STEPHEN catching GORDIE up about his 2023 Live show experiences. The talk is mostly music based so strap in for a music nerd-fest, but true to BREIT episodes, there's Chicago talk, t-shirt talk and a cliffhanger. JETHRO TULL, PELICAN, LAGUARDIA, PARLIMENT-FUNKADELIC, SKATELITES, MAMMOTH, DOS SANTOS, BOTCH, FINCH, REFUSED, JEHNNY BETH, QUICKSAND, GORILLA BISCUITS, THE CURE, QOTSA, MISTER BUNGLE, BARONESS etcetera
32 years in the making. Kris Gerhardht joins the GORDCAST. Just listen! GOSSAMER is the best LP of the year. Music, movies and monsters! PINK FLOYD, MUSE, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, ANTHRAX, JAPAN, KUROSWAWA, OZU, FREAKS, TOD BROWNING, EVIL DEAD Etcetera Stick around at the end for Kris shredding as a teen.
Inspired from Will Pfieffer and his MOONDOG RADIO show, Gordie gives it a go by himself and tosses out some Holiday favorite songs. All I want for christmas is you. BILLY MACK, REDD KROSS, SHIRLEY TEMPLE, MEL BLANC, PATTON OSWALT, VINCE GUARALDI, PAUL GILBERT, SPARKS, WAITRESSES, RAMONES, POGUES, RUFUS WAINWRIGHT, WEEZER, WHAM, MONTY PYTHON, ME FIRST, JETHRO TULL, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE.
Will Pfeifer returns to the Gordcast to talk about all things December and some of the holidays that surround us. The music we grew up with, the music we found later, the films that we discovered as movie nerds, the storires yet to tell and so much more. The eternal debate of what makes a christmas movie, ESQUIVEL, PSYCHO, THE APARTMENT, REDD KROSS, SPARKS, and of course STERLING HOLLOWAY. ...maybe the first episode ever that KISS is never spoken of.
Zack is back from the mutant graveyard to talk withe Gordie in another October episode. We're all over the place but mostly talk Halloween, defining schlock, B-movies, THE MARX BROTHERS, old comic book smell (...again) watching movies with the family, quoting movies and how to do it right, trick or treat rules, Halloween traditions and Gordie reveals his final costume at the USPS. We finish with an open invitation to one Chris Neseman.
David Dopko finally joins the Gordcast, to talk Halloween, KAIJU, podcasting, growing up a monster kid, Aurora model kits, not having a basement and losing power on your laptop, bringing the conversation to a halt. Join us for more conversation in the future. ROB ZOMBIE, THE MUNSTERS, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, ABBOTT & COSTELLO, HELLRAISER, THE WVITCH and so much more.
As promised, WILL PFIEFER joins GORDIE and they pick up where they most likely left off back in 2012. WILL tells of how he discovered music, comics, movies and all things while growing up in a small town, gets to have his own radio show, writes comics for DC and his mom turned the television off when DEVO came on. GORDIE repeats stories he's told before, loves EVELYN TOGAR more than THE VELVET UNDERGROUND and since he shares a brain with WILL alot of the time, this episode goes on for awhile. Stay tuned for more episodes in the future.
GORDIE finally welcomes ZACK KRUSE to The Gordcast. 15 years seperate our heroes, but that makes no difference in a lively and educational conversation. ZACK hosts a radio show, snags his mom's copy of IT, peeks at ROBO-COP through a hallway, becomes a leading authority on STEVE DITKO and wasn't that scared of monsters. GORDIE was scared of KING KONG when it was shown at a church, borrowed a projector from the library, went to an Olive Garden once and imagines Nudy suits while listening to THE MUTANT GRAVEYARD. LOTS of monster kid conversation and nerdy music/music talk and a very healthy dose of MST 3K.
PETER "BULLDOG" DRUMMOND is back to talk mostly about The Book Of Boba Fett on Disney+. This episode is the least evergreen for sure. After talking MEN WITHOUT HATS and pogoing to ROB ZOMBIE, we settle in for a long and spoilerific conversation about STAR WARS and BOBA. We try to define, fan service, canon, head canon, what makes us happy, what makes us dissapointed, homages and we don't get in a virtual fist-fight. ...pretty nerdy episode
AUDRA WOLFMAN and BRETT STILLO are back and together we do a 2021 year end wrap up. The main focus is AUDRA and BRETT's Christmas trip to the world famous MADONNA INN in San Luis Obispo. We talk about other roadside attractions, getting back in the real world, meeting IRL, SNOOPY and The Red Baron, school of rock teaching, AMOEBA records, 8Tracks, vinyl collectors, dressing up for the holidays and stick around after the outro song to hear our favorite NEW YEARS memories.
PETER 'Bulldog" DRUMMOND has checked back in to the GORDCAST and we are talking DUNE! We begin with some leftovers from episode 108. Peter's just not that into horror movies, tried to fit in as a kid and digs black and white over color at times. We settle in and talk about both the film and the book DUNE. PATRICK STEWART, DAVID LYNCH, BODY HORROR, ASMR, the new DUNE ...and yes. There was a DUNE coloring book for kids.
GORDIE welcomes back JOHN FROST to talk music gear, air raid sirens and the film THE WARRIORS. (...not the basketball team.) GORDIE tells the extended version of his custom BRIAN MAY Red Special guitar and JOHN tells of his ONE of ONE bass cabinet. Then settle in for the second hour, while we talk about the 1979 film THE WARRIORS. JOHN definitely did his homework and we have a great time with one of GORDIE's favorite films. CAN YOU DIG IT!
STEPHEN BREIT is back to solve the mystery of what t-shirt he is wearing. After a bit of quick music talk, we move on to comic books as a main topic, but go all over the place as usual. Comic conventions, collecting goals, bin diving, original art, baseball cards, listening to music while reading, recommedations and HULK vs. WOLVERINE.
STEPHEN BREIT has returned to GORDCAST and is turning the tables on Gordie, to take conrol of the question asking and we're back to A LOT of music talk! STEPHEN takes a Wisconsin Death Trip to his cabin in the woods, is getting ready for Chicago's RIOTFEST, has some regrets and together, we jam out farewell tours and Prog vs. Pschedelic. GORDIE justs want to have lunch with Dave Grohl and leaves the episode with a cliff-hanger. NIRVANA, FOO FIGHTERS, PAT SMEAR, KISS, THE WHO, THE ROLLING STONES, STATIC-X, LOLAPALOOZA, CLIFF BURTON, RANDY RHOADS, METALLLICA, PRIMUS, RHCP and so much more.
PETER (Bulldog) DRUMMOND joins the GORDCAST family with a good old fashioned "get to know you" episode courtesy of DANIEL WHITEs EOC ZOOM meet ups. PETERS Brazilian mom and aunt buy him whatever makes him happy, didn't play bass, is in competition with himself, got a rejection letter and founded Myopic Studios. GORDIE was going to be a mandolin player and then wasn't. LOTS of video game talk, being a creative person and the critical nature both positive and negative. https://myopicstudios.com/ https://www.deviantart.com/8-bitasher
WHAT! 2 episodes within a week? GORDIE welcomes STEPHEN BREIGHT to the GORDCAST family. This is a music centric episode, with lots of fun conversation going all over the place genre-wise. STEPHEN goes to live shows with his mom, played rugby, grew up punkish, collects Tee-shirts and misses live shows. GORDIE realizes that "musicals" formed his taste, has a new favorite person, saw The Crash Test Dummies live and they BOTH collect ticket stubs. ...oh yeah, VAZQUEZ ROCKS.
BRETT STILLO & AUDRA WOLFMAN join Gordie to talk about BOB WILKINS, CREATURE FEATURES and growing up GOTH. Brett buys slurpees, likes pointy shoes and hung out with a goth superstar. Audra's name set her down her creepy path, was cosplaying before it was cool and her parents had dinner with our hero. Gordie was barely goth, watched Creature Features with his mom and wouldn't watch Night Of The Living Dead. Many tangents abound, sports talk? and lots of fun conversation and riffing. ...and Benny Hill.
GORDIE and THEA sit down on the actual New Years Day to have a low-key, simple conversation of years gone by and years ahead. THEA tidies and cleans, didn't always know what a snog was, wore green underpants in grammar school and is hopeful. GORDIE is ok with being recognized, dresses up for holidays & plans new costumes and is hopefully optimistic. They wrap up with podcast recommendations, welcome new listeners and vow to "start as you mean to go on."
GORDIE is joined once again with BRETT STILLO to wax rhapsodical about the good old days of the SEARS Christmas Wishbook. If you grew up with the phenomenon, you'll be right at home. If not, strap in for a bunch of nostalgic memories from two 50 something dudes. VINCENT PRICE, ski families, SILVERTONE guitars, pointing, mustaches, W.C. FIELDS, SCOOBY DOO, BOBBSEY TWINS, KING KONG, MISSES vs JUNIORS, BUDWEISER, BORIS KARLOFF and so much more.
Just in time for HALLOWEEN, BRETT fuckin' STILLO joins Gordie to talk about THE MOST WONDERFULL TIME OF THE YEAR! Costumes, candy and cinema are covered, with tons of Long Stories Short, tales of Hobo monsters, growing up as monster kids and random silliness. We tease a December Sears Christmas Wishbook episode, so stay tuned.
GORDIE welcomes back THEA GILIEN to talk about all sorts of things, including being a guest on podcasts. THEA'S wine history (...she might be snobby at times), she owns a vineyard and surfs, WAAAAAAY to much car talk, GORDIE has eaten quiche, vampire talk, alternative jobs and youtube as a soothing balm. THE PODCAST REVIEW SHOW, FLIXWATCHER, ANNE RICE, FORD PINTO, GROUNDHOG DAY, DAVID TENNANT, NEIL GAIMAN, AROUND COMICS, SPEAK EASILY Vs. THE EIGHTIES, QUEEN and THE POLICE.
GORDIE welcomes JON FROST to Gordomatic Industries! JON works on Gordie's route and has become a quick friend and the best way to get to know someone more than five minutes at a time, is to have a conversation on a mic. JON surprises Gordie smack dab in the middle concerning his heritage after telling stories of traveling the nation and the world in touring bands. This has A TON of BAY AREA METAL up front, bookended with A TON of Wine geek talk at the end. This is the longest episode in a long time, so use your ffwd and pause button at your discretion. LIGHT THE CITY, SWORN VENGEANCE, DUBLIN DEATH PATROL, DEATH ANGEL, TESTAMENT, VIO-LENCE, THE OMNI, THE I-BEAM, SKA, QUEEN, VAN HALEN, HUEY LEWIS (and the news) THE WICKED TINKERS, THE HIGHLAND GAMES, FUTBOL, HOCKEY and 2 MINUTES TO LATE NIGHT. Hidden track after the outro, so stay tuned
GORDCAST has reached episode 100 and THEA GILIEN has played the long con to take over the podcast. Gordie is in the hot seat and we mostly talk about the history and origins of the podcast, while finding other fun things to talk about. The history of the whys and the reasons, the value of conserving conversations and what's next. Listen after the end for a quick snippet of the very first episode. I thank all the "fans" and guests who sidled up to the microphone and were a part of me podcast. Paul Bertolino, Bridget Settlemyer, Tom Beland, Chris Neseman, David Price, Doug Cuffman, John Siuntres, Brent Ratkovitch, Nathan Alfaro, Tony Rabin, Jordan Phegley, Geoff Ellsworth, Ruth Adams, Kirsten Adams, Julie McKim, Adam Sullivan, Mike Caceres, Ty Domke, Pat Francis, Bill Zanowitz, Jeff Blumer, Seth Dominick, Brett Stillo, Audra Wolfman and Brian Nash.
"One Last Trick?" BRETT, AUDRA & GORDIE are finished with the podcast, but have become friends even though the whole thing was just a joke! This episode has it all. Impressions, singing, fencing, backwards aura control, THREE'S COMPANY, THE OMEGA MAN, FRIENDS, blooper reels, good deaths, rhyming, RICK BAKER, EXCALIBUR (..duh), sequels and the episode finishes with the origin of COUNT FINK! Thanks to all for listening and spread the ZARDOZ word everywhere you go!
AUDRA, BRETT and GORDIE are trapped in a crystal, yet seem to be able to stay inside ZED's aura. Audra wonders if BRETT is okay while welcoming back ARTHUR/ZARDOZ/ NIALL BUGGY as he chews up the theater and does magic tricks. Lots of JAMES BOND talk, tabernacle acting, Isadora Duncan, Comic book ads, philosophical babble, Crystal radios and cardboard submarines, as we head toward the final episode next week.
GORDIE, AUDRA and BRETT are just trying to figure out their own complexities, while ZARDOZ in' around. We start off with lots of TOPPS trading card talk (...who saw that comin?) notice that things are getting weird, discuss what droplets of macho are, practical effects, BOND opening credits, real sci-fi and stained glass from the seventies. ENJOY the show!
GORDIE, AUDRA and BRETT are learning to read, just like ZED! GORDIE is really tired after working a long day, but BRETT and AUDRA are here to pick up the slack. Gordie knows art, Audra tosses out more gnostic concepts and Brett doesn't have a joke prepared, but comes through with the hilarity eventually.
GORDIE, AUDRA and BRETT are deep in the middle of ZED time! We start out being nostalgic of 70s Italian restaurants, mad scientists, RENEGADES, SECOND LEVEL MEDITATION, gratitude that we're not covering this MINUTE BY MINUTE, mid-western PROG, more VORTEX TRAVELOGUE, ZED PANTOMIME, FRIEND's sentence and the cliff-hanger ending of this 12 minutes.
GORDIE, BRETT and AUDRA are back this week, but will not meditate at level 2. MONSTER learns about the VORTEX penal system, meets THE RENEGADES and THE APATHETICS, who get tossed around in The VORTEX PUB, more trials and guess what? we talk about EXCALIBUR. BRETT begins the VORTEX TOUR TRAVELOGUE and GORDIE continues to drop in the best song clips ever and we get deep, deep into the philosophy that surrounds ZARDOZ. Thanks again for joining us!
GORDIE, BRETT and AUDRA are spending time in the TABERNACLE and wandering around THE VORTEX for Episode 3! ZED/MONSTER/IT is treated like livestock, we get to know FRIEND, while everyone else gestures and votes, have some lunch and literally break bread, attend trials via SIRI, jump into mirror pyramids and so much more. Enjoy all that the Vortex has to offer.
GORDIE, BRETT and AUDRA are back in The Vortex for Episode 2 and the next 12 minutes of ZARDOZ! We check out Arthur Freynd's bohemian apartment, the invention of SIRI, start seeing what The Vortex is all about, Immortals, casual nudity, the English Countryside, EXCALIBUR, Freckles, mind-probe exposition and oh so much more! Thanks for listening!
GORDIE ADAMS hosts his own take on the MOVIES BY MINUTE movement, but instead of breaking down JOHN BOORMAN'S ZARDOZ, one minute at a time, he and his co-hosts BRETT STILLO and AUDRA WOLFMAN break it down a dozen minutes at a time, while getting to know each other through the beauty of podcasting. If you already know ZARDOZ, you're ready and willing. If not, watch it, join us and judge for yourself how awesome, absurd and iconic this great film from 1974 is still worth watching.
THEA GILIEN is back to the Gordcast for a re-vamped and fun filled conversation during the pandemic. Gordie gets the scoop and how and what made THE POLICE her band of choice as a teenager, pizza, and her own podcast THE PODCAST REVIEW SHOW, along with tons more!
GORDIE finally chats with MATT BURDEN from London-esque England! After being nerd friends since 2011, we get to know each other and figure out why we are who we are. This is a good loooooong one. LOTS of comic book talk for the first hour and then we move on to Film, hockey, the G-word, wrestling, meeting comic book heroes, wearing baseball caps, touring the seaside, BRUCE DICKINSON, IRON MAIDEN, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS, BOSTON BRUINS, ELEVEN O'CLOCK COMICS, AROUND COMICS, JUDGE DREDD, Watchmen Guy, ALAN WAGNER, BRIAN BOLLAND, DOCTOR WHO and sooooo much more.

Alright you KISS geeks, you. In this episode we do a song-by-song review of the KISS Unmasked LP!
