In part one of three of the Chris's coverage of Inferno, we discuss the New Mutants portion of the event, supplemented by The X-Tremists. The punching is good, the teens are uncomfortably sexy, and Colossus is bad, maybe. Jace takes a look at X-Tremists #3 as Blob's feeling for Betsy are out in the open, how will she react? Also the behavior and bigotry of Moneta starts to become very evident to the team. We very well may be seeing empathy winning over the members of Department X. How will they reconcile their duty to uphold laws against intimacy and connection when they themselves are beginning to feel them also? They have always walked the fine line between protecting people from themselves while doing as little harm as possible, with the exception of Moneta. Now that status quo has changed tremendously. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
Jace dives deep in X-Tremists #2 as Moneta's true colors begin to show. We also so the possibility of a budding romance between two members of the team. A serious breach of the very intimacy laws they are charged with enforcing. Not only that but the treatment of their prisoner raises serious questions in the mind of Jubilee about the whole basis of their goals and the very rules of the world she lives on. As if that wasn't enough we also see the team deliberately set up a "disaster" so the X-Men can swoop in and save the day and earn their hero status for the masses.
