“Rajiin” 20th-anniversary reflections While the Xindi Council continues to debate how best to destroy Earth, the Enterprise welcomes aboard a beautiful passenger. Archer rescued the lingerie-clad alien from a slave market on the Xanathan planet where he, Tucker, and Reed sought clues about the Xindi and a way to synthesize trellium-D. It turns out that the freed woman may not have the information they need, but she does have ulterior motives … and the hots for everyone. Things take an even weirder turn when the Xindi Reptilions and Insectoids show up looking for their electric Barbarella. In this episode of Warp Five, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our 20th-anniversary retrospective that takes you through all of Star Trek: Enterprise, one episode at a time. In this installment, we continue Season 3 with “Rajiin” as we discuss Xindi motivations, Rajiin's reality, Archer's hard knocks journey, and how this installment advances the overall story. In 1968, fans of science fiction movies had two options (please don't fact check this, there's no need): 2001: A Space Odyssey or Roger Vadim's Barbarella. Which movie was superior? Critics are still fiercely divided on the question (again, please don't fact check this), but I can tell you one thing: Stanley Kubrick never thought to shoot an entire film inside a lava lamp, which certainly seemed to be Vadim's ambition. The real question is: what did Adam and Aidan think of this splashy, groovy, junky, barely coherent but extremely entertaining Matmos of a movie? Listen below, or find us on your podspitter of choice.

It's been awhile, but dem boys are back with a special guest to talk about the wet and wild world of Barbarella
We continue our Camp Cinema season in our seventh episode covering The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) and Barbarella (1968)Special Guest: Manish Mathur, host of the It Pod to Be You, covering romantic comedies from classics to modern hits and everything in between.French director Jacques Demy embarked on an ambitious project to create a film in which every line was sung. What initially appeared as a gimmicky opera about everyday life evolved into one of the most acclaimed musicals of all time. The film is imbued with vivid color and adorned with enchanting songs, showcasing Demy's profound appreciation for artifice, a hallmark of camp cinema. In stark contrast to Demy's refined sensibility stands Roger Vadim's audacious science fiction film, Barbarella (1968). Infamous for the wrong reasons, the film features Jane Fonda in the lead role, navigating an incoherent narrative inspired by a French erotic comic. Here, the camp is strikingly naïve, and the collective artistic intentions remain enigmatic and elusive.

Intro music from:Arthemis - Survivor (Destiny's Child Cover)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjYCOtYjCY4The Survivor is a 1981 supernatural horror Australian-British co-production directed by David Hemmings and starring Robert Powell, Jenny Agutter, and Joseph Cotten. In Adelaide, Australia (not Eton in the UK as in the original novel written by James Herbert), airline pilot David Keller (played by Powell) survives the crash of his Boeing 747-200, unhurt despite all 300 passengers dying in the accident. With no memories of the accident, he starts to suffer strange supernatural visions.Director David Hemmings is most famous for his acting roles, including Dildano in Barbarella, Marcus Daly in Dario Argento's Deep Red, and Thomas, the fashion photographer in the hugely successful avant-garde mystery film Blowup – a role turned down by Sean Connery because director Michelangelo Antonioni would not show him the full script but only a seven-page treatment stored in a cigarette packet. Hemmings would later feature in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with Connery 37 years later.Robert Powell, best known for his portrayal of a charismatic cult leader/son of a carpenter in the 1977 epic television drama series Jesus of Nazareth, also played secret agent Richard Hannay in The Thirty-Nine Steps, appeared in Ken Russell's Tommy as Captain Walker and, at the request of his friend and golf partner, comedian Jasper Carrott, co-starred in the BBC sitcom The Detectives (which ran for five series!). He also lent his voice to the 2002 rock opera The Hound of the Baskervilles by Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakeman, playing John Watson. Powell was considered for several roles in Lifeforce (featured in episode 39 of this podcast). A founder member of the Social Democratic Party in 1981, he campaigned alongside Barry Norman on behalf of the party's first leader, Roy Jenkins.Jenny Agutter (OBE), who plays the role of Hobbs the clairvoyant (a male character in the novel), is best known for her ongoing role in the inexplicably popular Call the Midwife. She also starred in two adaptations of The Railway Children, the critically acclaimed film Walkabout, and, relevant to this podcast, An American Werewolf in London (listen to episode 26 for more info). The film also features Joseph Cotten, (best man at Orson Welles's wedding to Rita Hayworth) appeared in five films selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant. In addition to these classics, he appeared in many films and TV programs, including, pertinent to this podcast, one episode of Tales of the Unexpected. He later admitted, "I was in a lot of junk. I get nervous when I don't work." This was his final motion picture, suffering a stroke shortly after working on it.James Herbert, author of the source novel, sent a note to David Hemmings offering his assistance. He never received a reply, and in 1988 dismissed this film and the later Deadly Eyes (the film adaptation of The Rats) as "They're terrible...absolute rubbish. I can only say - don't blame me." The Survivor was Herbert's third novel, published in 1976, coming after The Rats and The Fog.The music for this film is by Brian May! …but not the one you're thinking of... This is the Australian Brian May, who has an impressive musical CV, including: The Blue Lagoon, Gallipoli, Mad Max, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, Missing in Action 2 and Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. This was the first Australian movie to cost more than $1 million (Australian) to make. The location was shifted to OZ as a complex tax dodge, allowing English investors to completely write-off on the whole film. In this episode, Ams and Kat take control in the bedroom by exploring domination, including an interview with professional Dominatrix, Queen Lo. A Dominatrix, or Femme Domme, a woman who takes the dominant role in a BDSM power play experience. A Dominatrix is "in charge" in the bedroom, but are we all just dressing the part and not actually taking control? But first, mix up this episode's Canna-cocktail, the Rosemary Grapefruit Fizz, while Ams shares her Hot Tale: during the Barbarella-themed house party, Ams slips away with six of her favorite guys for a seven-minute, Alien Abduction role play. Next, Ams and Kat explore past experience with dominating partners in bed. Kat loves the clothes and the overall vibe of being in charge, but Ams, a submissive, struggles with channeling her dominant self. To learn more about Femme Domme, the Wives interview professional dominatrix, Queen Lo. Finally, the Wives set themselves sexy homework, setting up power play scenes with the Misters. ABOUT QUEEN LO Queen Lo is a professional dominatrix and host of the podcast “Thy Queendom Come,” which provides an honest (and often hilarious) look at sexuality and power dynamics in the bedroom and beyond. She works with clients online from her home in the tropics and in person through tours and custom sessions, specializing in teaching men the power of sacred submission. Visit her online at thyqueendom.com for more information and to get in touch. WANT TO BOOK A SESSION WITH A PROFESSIONAL DOMINATRIX? When discussing a power play scene with a dominatrix, it's essential to ensure clear communication and establish boundaries to make the experience safe and enjoyable for both you and your partner. Here are some questions you might consider asking: Experience and Approach: How long have you been practicing BDSM, particularly as a dominatrix? What is your approach to creating and executing power play scenes? Can you provide examples of previous scenes you've facilitated? Limits and Boundaries: How do you establish and respect boundaries during a power play scene? What are your hard limits, and are there any activities you won't engage in? How do you handle it if either participant feels uncomfortable during the scene? Communication: How do you encourage open communication before, during, and after a scene? Do you have a safe word system in place, and how does it work? Are there any specific questions you suggest partners discuss before engaging in a power play scene? Safety and Consent: What measures do you take to ensure physical and emotional safety during a scene? How do you verify consent throughout the scene? What steps do you take to mitigate risks associated with BDSM activities? Preparation and Aftercare: How should partners prepare for a power play scene mentally and physically? What does aftercare typically involve, and how do you support participants during this phase? Are there any potential psychological or emotional effects partners should be aware of? Customization and Preferences: How do you tailor power play scenes to meet the preferences and comfort levels of each participant? Can partners request specific elements or scenarios to be included in the scene? Are there any particular dynamics or roles you specialize in, or can accommodate? Logistics and Practicalities: Where do sessions typically take place, and what amenities or equipment are available? How long do sessions usually last, and what is the scheduling process like? What are your policies regarding confidentiality and privacy? Education and Resources: Do you offer resources or educational materials for partners new to BDSM or power play scenes? Are there any workshops or community events you recommend for further learning? Remember, open and honest communication is key when discussing BDSM activities, especially when exploring power dynamics. It's essential to prioritize safety, trust, and mutual respect throughout the process. The Wives were so inspired by the hot, female empowered pornography, they start making plans to create their own.. Finally, the Wives give their tips on finding porn that feels female empowered and ethical. MORE ABOUT ETHICAL AND FEMINIST PORNOGRAPHY The concept of "ethical pornography" is subjective and can vary depending on individual perspectives and values. Generally, it refers to the production and consumption of adult content that aligns with ethical principles and values, such as consent, fair labor practices, and respect for performers. Ethical pornography may prioritize factors like transparency, communication, and empowerment of the individuals involved in its creation. Key elements often associated with ethical pornography include: Consent: Ensuring that all participants willingly and enthusiastically agree to be part of the production. Fair Labor Practices: Treating performers and other personnel involved in the production with respect, fair wages, and safe working conditions. Diversity and Inclusivity: Representing a diverse range of body types, genders, ethnicities, and sexual orientations to promote inclusivity and avoid reinforcing harmful stereotypes. Authenticity: Presenting realistic and consensual scenarios rather than perpetuating harmful or exploitative narratives. Transparency: Providing clear information about the production process, including the treatment of performers and the ethical standards followed. Feminist pornography is a genre of adult content created with the aim of promoting gender equality, empowerment, and consent. It challenges traditional pornography that often objectifies and degrades women by portraying them as passive objects of male desire. Instead, feminist pornography seeks to depict sexuality in a more realistic and respectful manner, often emphasizing communication, mutual pleasure, and diversity. Key features of feminist pornography may include: Consent: Scenes depict enthusiastic and explicit consent between all participants, ensuring that no one is coerced or objectified. Diversity: It embraces diverse body types, sexual orientations, gender identities, and ethnicities, representing a wider range of human experiences and desires. Authenticity: Scenes may focus on real intimacy and connection rather than exaggerated performances. This can involve more realistic portrayals of pleasure and arousal. Empowerment: Women are often depicted as active agents in their sexual encounters, exploring their desires and expressing their own pleasure. Ethical Production: There is a commitment to fair labor practices, including fair wages and safe working conditions for performers, as well as respectful treatment both on and off-camera. Feminist pornography aims to challenge societal norms and stereotypes surrounding sexuality and promote a more inclusive and respectful approach to adult content. It seeks to provide alternatives for individuals who may find traditional pornography problematic or alienating. It's important to note that the definition of ethical and feminist pornography may vary among individuals, and what is considered ethical or feminist by one person may not be the same for another. If you are interested in supporting ethical or feminist adult content, you may want to research and choose producers or platforms that align with your values and priorities.
