After another terrific J1 matchday, Stuart Woodward joined Jonny and Ben in Part 1 to chat about Yokohama F.Marinos' away win in the Yokohama derby on Saturday night, as well as the pre-match kerfuffle that led to the away supporters missing most of the first half at Mitsuzawa, and other goings-on at F.Marinos, including Anderson Lopes' departure, and new coach Hideo Oshima (to 28:15). Then in Part 2 Jonny and Ben review the other eight games from Saturday night, including Kashima's third straight loss that saw them tumble from the summit, new leaders Kashiwa taking over at the top with a win over FC Tokyo, and Kobe roaring up to second after two wins in four days.

Sam Robson made a triumphant return to the pod, to help Jonny and Ben run through all nine games played over the weekend in J1 Matchday 21. After a quick look back at the Emperor's Cup and Urawa's first two games at the Club World Cup, we kick off our top flight review with Machida's home win over leaders Kashima, and the instant classic between Kashiwa and Kyoto at Hitachidai that finished 3-3. From there we move on to Hiroshima and Kobe, who surged into the top four with away wins, and then work our way through the other five games, chatting about the managerial changes at Niigata and Yokohama F.Marinos along the way.

There were certainly many talking points from the weekend's top flight round, and we begin this episode with some positivity from Jon Steele after Yokohama FC moved out of the drop zone with an away win over Shonan on Saturday, as the sky blues continue to make a decent fist of their return to J1 (to 21:00). Then in Part 2 Jonny and Ben continue their roundup of Matchday 17, beginning with Kashima extending their advantage at the top of the table after they downed Shimizu, and Kashiwa lost at Machida. Next up is Kyoto, who piled on the misery for bottom club Yokohama F.Marinos with a fine away win, before we move on to events at Saitama Stadium, where Urawa claimed a controversy-laced home win over FC Tokyo (Ben's rant alert). Following that we review all of the other games, before finishing with a look ahead to midweek and weekend action.

It was another day of Saudi domination at the AFC Champions League Elite Finals in Jeddah. Michael Church reports from the Saudi city after home side Al Ahli eased their way into a semi-final match up with Al Hilal after disposing of Thai side Buriram United with relative ease. While in the second game of the day, Al Nassr made light work of J.League outfit Yokohama F.Marinos to book their place in the last four. We round up two full rounds of top flight fixtures (with a focus on the weekend's Matchday 4) in this week's episode, towards the end of which we're joined by Neil Debnam to chat about the early days of Shigetoshi Hasebe's reign at Kawasaki. Kobe slipped on a Bellmare banana skin on Saturday afternoon in J1 Matchday 31, and the top flight title race has new life after Yokohama F.Marinos moved to within two points of Vissel after a big win away at Fukuoka (to 28:15). The relegation dogfight is still a battle in three after Kashiwa threw away two points at home against ten man Kawasaki (to 43:10).

After a big weekend of action at both ends of the top flight table, Sean Carroll joined Jonny and Ben to round it all up. We begin at the National Stadium, where table toppers Kobe passed another huge test on their way to a maiden J1 title when they comfortably saw off Kashima on Saturday (to 30:50), while Yokohama F.Marinos stayed four points adrift with a home win over Sapporo (to 45:50). Next we link the top three to the relegation dogfight by chatting about Urawa's home win over Kashiwa on Friday night, then move on to massive wins for Reysol's fellow dogfighters Yokohama FC and Shonan (to 1:08:10), before rounding up the other four games and looking ahead to the ACL in midweek and next weekend's J1 Matchday 31.

After the top of the clash at the Nissan Stadium last Friday night, Ryo Nakagawara joined Jonny and Ben for a deep dive on what went so right for leaders Kobe, who strengthened their hold on top spot with a 2-0 win away at an off-colour Yokohama F.Marinos (to 38:50). Then the guys chat about FC Tokyo's 3-0 win over Gamba Osaka, and Ryo shares his thoughts on what might be done to freshen up an aging Tokyo squad (to 1:13:05). Then it's 10-man Urawa assuming nearest challenger status after a terrific win at Gamba Osaka, while the rest of the title chasers stumbled. After that we move on to a disappointing weekend for all of our relegation dogfight combatants, before previewing the game of the season (from 1:18:00).
