First up we have the 99 Report With Allie McNeil. At 7:30 it's Momma Politico with an Undercover Liberal Report "Momma goes to the Gun Show" At 8:00 we continue our focus on the OCCUPY Movement and how it is acting as a magnyfying glass for helping focus on real American issues. With an interview with Marcy, an RN that has been working with Occupy Pittsburgh. And at 8:30 we welcome back to the show Eric Byler of the Coffee Party. Eric will be updating us on multiple Occupy sites and also share his experience of being arrested while Filming Occupy in LA as it was being raided by Police.
This week we talk with Author Faydra Deon about her book "The Pride" a story about Four women who have two things in common. They're all mothers, and the father of their children is the same man. Faydra is also an expert in social media and Web Development. We also talk with Walter Brasch, Ph.D. about his book "Before the first Snow", a journalistic novel of Stories From the Revolution, a look at the counterculture of America from 1964 to Jan. 15, 1991, the eve of the Persian Gulf War. Underlying plot themes look at nuclear energy, the environment, the anti-war/peace movement, civil rights, worker rights, and the American mass media. Its topics are as relevant now as they were a generation ago.
We are getting into the Holiday Spirit at AWOP Radio this week with Jordan from This Girl Walks Into a Bar Blog and Book! We will be talking Holiday cocktails and more! From her site: My bartending career started in a chain restaurant and took me to dive bars, 5 stars, and private parties in some of LA's most beautiful residences. I've served Puff Daddy champagne, poured Keifer Sutherland an ungodly amount of Jack Daniels, and mixed cocktails for Pamela Anderson and Kidd Rock post-divorce, pre 2nd marriage (just to name-drop a few). Our book, "This Girl Walks Into a Bar," (written by me and designed by my sister, Jocelyn) is an all-in-one bartending guide designed for any woman who wants the lucrative career of tending bar, or simply aspires to mix cocktails like a master at home! Our First Guest is Filmmaker Laine Causey who has written the next great Lesbian Love Story set in 1960s Texas. She's headed to LA this winter to start Production on the Film. As there have been few Lesbian love story films and even fewer set in 1960's Texas we can't wait to hear about this story. Her Film Company, Magnolia Bay Films is based In Houston Texas. John Clark is our second guest. He and his wife Mary Ann are down in Tampa Florida working hard to support the Occupy Movement. We will talk to them about Occupy, but also talk to John about his music and how his music has contributed to Social Justice Issues and Causes. He has written some great songs including one called "What We Came Here For" that is dedicated to the Occupiers. We will be playing some of his tunes and talking social change! World class movie critic writing essays and commentary at her Movie Mom blog. Expert in corporate governance. Robert J Elisberg has surmised "I've long suspected that the seven most terrifying words to a corporate executive are, "I have Nell Minow on Line Two." given that she once recommended her own father be dismissed from a Board of Directors because he missed too many meetings. Leslie will be on our panel to give us a first hand account of what it was like on on the ground in DC for the convergence of a number of different social justice groups on the capital. Denis Campbell aka @UKProgressive on Twitter and Author of "Egypt Unshackled" joins us to talk about his book and his contributions in following and Tweeting the uprising. This amazing mom is also raising five boys and she's a premie family counselor who helps progressives work together on Twitter. Twitter gr8 #3 @Faydra_deon writes and is a social media goddess. This year she wrote a book called "The Pride" about the strength of four women. She created a whole site that offers folks creative ways to give to areas that are suffering and need our help. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara will be joining the program to discuss her work with Campaign for Southern Equality. They are fighting for equality in the new front on GLBTQ discrimination, North Carolina. And Ashley Arrington will be her to tell us about how Blue Ridge Pride rocked the square in Asheville last Saturday!
