We bring you our first episode of 2021, that was actually planned for 2020. But if we learned anything from 2020 it is that sometimes things do not go according to plan and unexpected surprises may happen. So here we are, in the new year, looking back and wrapping up 2020. Since the last year was full of major changes, we decided to have a very different approach to our wrap-up episode as well. Are you normal people? Well, if so (and even if not) this two part episode discussion on the BBC+Hulu miniseries Normal People is just for you! Based on a book of the same name by Sally Rooney, we dive deep into the world of this character driven miniseries as well as the book. We talk passionately about Marianne, Connell and their romance for hours. No, we're not kidding, we had a lot to say and even now we feel like we left some things out. Since we had so much on our mind we decided to divide our discussion into two separate parts and subchapters. Unfortunately we did not have the time to dedicate an entire subchapter to Connell's chain but there's always 2021. One night in August, in the year of our Lord 2020, five months into a global pandemic, three girls from across the world decided it would be fun to record their very first video episode, about films they have HATED (PS. the caps are essential to emphasize the Passion) for a long, long, long time. What then ensued was 82 minutes of madness, laughter, tears and mayhem... Firstly, let us make it clear that this isn't a video. We believe the context is, well, necessary to explain the manic energy this episode exudes. The lack of real human interaction + seeing each other totally unprepared + the topic which is Movies We Hated As Teens and We Decided To Revisit (flipping our previous Cringe episode) = um, whatever this episode is :P Also, our sincerest apologies for some of the technical issues in this episode.
