. hello and welcome to i havnt got time to work . a look at my first month staying at buttles caravan park and being a tuktuk chauffeur for tuktuktime . my first month has ended with a 2 day storm with gale force 8 winds and torraintial rain. over night weve been absolutly battered . im not sure the amount of rain weve had in may is normal even for wales . its been cold as well . come on wheres the summer so whats been happening ? first i had to learn where i was going. the tuks mainly operate betwwen saunderfoot Tenby Amroth and wiseman bridge . all really lovely places . the terraine shall we say is lumpy lots of 16% percent hills makeing cycling challenging.its probely why the welsh edition of iron is held here. they say its the most challenging route anywhere in the world Amroth is furthest east looking out over carmathern bay its the start or end of the 186 mile pembrokeshire coastle path . i will be heading over to st dogmeals the other end some time this summer head a mile and a half west and you arrive at wisemans bridge . durning the war winston churchill looked on from shore to view the practice landings for dday. theres a shop and caravan park and a rather nice pub called the wisemans arms. we pick up quite a few people from there are a pint or three carry on 2 miles and you arrive in saundersfoot. there used to be a tramway connecting the two places in 19th century to bring the iron ore down from the mines to the quay in saundersfoot . this export is why saunderfoot prospered and brought money to town. the old tram way is now part of coastle path . the history of saunders foot is fasicnatiog and i will be exploring this further in a futuer show. and so to tenby Until quite recently Tenby was known as "Little England beyond Wales" and the town remains a rather anglicised part of Wales. From the early 19th century, Tenby became a fashionable holiday destination for both the Welsh and the English, and its attractions to the holidaymaker are just as obvious today, with the fantastic beaches stretching to the north, the west, and the south of the town. so thats enough of me lets meet 3 of my fellow tuktukchauffeurs vaughn jones, lucy paice but first justin williams a retired policeman with 30 years service . its perpared him well shall we say finally we meet pow and josie they said in the glamping pod for a couple ,of nights at buttles . we ferred them around a little by tuk tuk of caurse between drinking dens and beautiful beachews and they spoke to me just before they left thankyou to everyone iv met so far its been agreat first month and the second show to isnt far away . thankyou to lorraine and tony who own and run tuktuktime . i and the rest of the team really believe inyou both and this summer will be a fantastic sucess
my first month in Pembrokshire , driving a tuk tuk podcasting doing up my campervcan il add more notes here later

Thursday My shift ended at 1pm a half day. My weekend was planned and I was pleased to be out and about again. The ignition key turned to start the van. Click. I tryed again. Click. The starter battery must be faulty. I had had it drop tested only 2 days http://before.it/ (before.it) had been declared healthily but now I fear not. Having fully charged leisure battery's is a massive help in these circumstances, out came the jump leads and the click was gone. An hour an 45 minutes later, my van and trailer turned into the Irlam business centre. Number 25 is Tuk Tuk UK HQ 12 miles from Manchester city center Irlam sits berween the very impressive Manchester ship canal and the slightly less so M62 motorway Rob and Ellie his daughter had just returned from dropping off two tuk's at pinewood studios , In The secretive world of the filming industry NDA, s had had to been signed restricting any information on the deal.. Although I don't think Rob had been told any of the finer details on what they were being used for I still found it slightly frustrating. After a very nice diner with his wife Kay, son Harvey and Ellie Rob drove me back to my camper in his Tesla, I have to say its a very very nice electric car. Elon Musk can be proud of bringing the furure into today. For a 4 year old car it's still way ahead of any competition. The next day THE MOVERS AND SHAKERS OF THE MANCHESTER TUKTUK SCENE Episode 17 Tom Doyle opened up Tuk Tuk UK HQ. an unasumming 4000 sq feet industrial unit. Tom has been working with Rob for 4 years and is the uk's best tuk tuk machanic. He has the ability to fix and repair anything tuk or car related. We spoke for nearly an hour. All recorded for the podcast. Rob arrived at 930 and the first cuctomer Tracey at 10. Tracey was having a new hood fitted to her 3 year old dual fuel Bajaj Tuk. I had planned to meet up with her for a chat so this fitted in very nicely. Alanna Atkinson 2pm AFew Scoops Alcohol infused icecream tasting was at 2 pm. Tuk Tuk UK had made her Tuk van very recently. I had interviewed her by zoom about it a month earlier. I have to say the sorbets and ice reams were delicious. From mohitos to expresso martinis. Shozy 4pm He has 2 tuktuks. Based in Oldham . He was having a small electrical problem so had driven the 12 miles over to have Tom repair it In readiness for the lifting of lockdown restrictions. wedding and corporate hire could resume All interviews were now done and dusted for the day . Tomorrow I head 20 miles further north to Todmorden. There's a guy call Roger Hooker with a thai tuk with a bed in the back. Can't wait.

SHOW NOTES Neil Lawson's gap year in 1985-86 was looking uncertain when most of his school friends had flown to Austraila to party and explore. Not one to follow the crowd, Neil and Tim hatched a plan to Hitchhike the Sahara Dessert from Tetouan in morrorco to Cotonou in Benin . At just 18 years old a serious undertaking and adventure. 30 years on after returning from a bike ride clad in lycra his son now approaching 18 himself accused him of being a mammal [middle aged man dress in lycra]. To counter this and prove age has no boundaries to where and how you can adventure, he chose the Gobi dessert in Mongolia to cycle in, and just to make it outstanding they dressed as a gentleman in tweed. To round off the adventure adventure, Neil met up with Tim in Shanghai whom he had not seen since they hitched across the Sahara some 30 years earlier. neil lawson has adventured https://tweedgt.wordpress.com/

Welcome to Thailand's first self drive but fully guided Tuk Tuk tour. Exploring amazing rural back roads, visiting beautiful and remote Temples and spending time learning about and bathing elephants. And of course, driving your very own Tuk Tuk! What more could you ask for.... Starting and ending in Chiang Mai, we start the adventure with a detailed - but friendly! - Tuk Tuk training session getting you up to speed and confident behind the wheel. We then head up into the hills along stunning rural back roads, stopping for a blessing at a remote Temple and exploring local villages until we the high mountains where we'll spend the next two nights. Over the next two days we'll learn all about the Karen way of life, get to cook up an amazing jungle feast, trek through and explore the local forest, swim under towering waterfalls and of course drive our Tuk Tuks along some of the most scenic - and quiet! - roads in the country. If you want to see the 'real' Thailand and really get an insight into life in this part of the world and have a lot of fun on the way, then this could be the perfect adventure for you! SHOW LESS DAY-BY-DAY EXPERIENCESDay 1 TRAINING, TEMPLES AND HILL TRIBE VILLAGES We'll pick you up at 8:00am from the CHIANG MAI GATE HOTEL in Chiang Mai city and transfer you to our training base in the lovely Mae Wang valley around 1 hour from the city. On arrival at our ‘base camp' in Mae Wang we'll introduce you immediately to your Tuk Tuk and crack on with the drive training. This all takes place ‘off road' and is a thorough session giving all participants the time to get used to these wonderful vehicles and master all the controls. We then head off down winding rural lanes passing through small farming communities (think classic SE Asia photo ops) and up to a remote meditation Temple where we'll receive a blessing for the adventure ahead. After a simple but hearty local Thai lunch we then we along the back roads up into the mountains towards our overnight destination of a remote Karen Hill Tribe village. We're camping here tonight in the fields (don't worry – there are showers and toilets available) to get a real Hill Tribe experience. In the evening we'll learn how to cook jungle style with an open fire and lessons from our Karen hosts before spending the night under the stars – a real Thai adventure! Day 2 MOUNTAINS AND MORE HILL TRIBE VILLAGES After breakfast we'll explore the local area and forest around the village before getting back into the Tuk Tuks and heading further into the foothills of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain. With lots of stops to explore and relax this is a fantastic journey through spectacular mountain scenery and a real insight into this part of the world. We'll stop for a late lunch at a small roadside restaurant – the real deal in terms of local Thai country fare – and then head on to Ban Mae Khlang Luang, our overnight base. Our overnight accommodation is in another Karen village surrounded by mountains and rice terraces and is the perfect setting for the second night of the adventure. Once we've checked in we'll explore the village and see how the community live – and get to sample some of the best freshest coffee around! In the evening we'll have a traditional Thai style BBQ in the rice fields, great fun and a real Thailand tradition. Day 3 TREKKING, WATERFALLS AND...

I saw a Mclaren supercar parked in front of the Cotswold outdoor shop in the Royal Oak carpark in BETWS-Y-COED with a team of engineers buzzing around it, something big is going on. They were there filming a promotional material prior to the release of the nee SL265 . Before they went out i asked some searching questions to the sound recording engineers and i compared the two vehicles head to head. which one would come out on top????? https://adventuresinatuktuk.com/2020/08/23/__trashed-11/ https://tuktukjames.captivate.fm/listen

Dilta's Story https://www.rosie-may.com/ Dilta is one of the first women in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka to become a tuk tuk driver. She can be seen every day driving her pink tuk tuk taking small groups of excited children on the school run. Afterwards, she takes women to their daily jobs and every week takes the incense sticks she makes to market to sell. In the afternoons, she takes teenage girls to their afterschool classes. Their mothers are pleased to know that their daughters are safe travelling with Dilta and this gives them more time to work rather than chaperoning. Dilta has established her taxi business quickly. After word got around in her neighbourhood, she soon had a waiting list for school runs. Dilta was able to rent her pink tuk tuk knowing that she could manage the repayments every month out of her earnings. School runs are a good source of income as they are reliable, and this has had a positive impact on her children who are now performing better in school. They are both very proud of their mum.
