    This week's podcast topic is "Is time speeding up?" It seems to be a thing with everyone that I speak with. But is time speeding up? That is a great question to ponder. Science and psychology don't seem to have figured out what is causing this phenomenon quite yet. I feel the answer lies in understanding consciousness. The world has certainly had a shift in consciousness, and with that shift comes many changes that we are yet to understand fully. However, with consciousness on the rise, we can manifest our reality faster. When we have an idea, thought or strong feelings, they will show up much quicker today than we have ever experienced.     In this episode Lisa shares how she was able to overcome a 25 year addiction. Her addiction started with a childhood injury and it progressed when she became sick with crohn's disease. Even after she was no longer suffering pain from her disease, her addiction continued to haunt her for most of her adult life. Now almost 10 years later Lisa is addiction free and is celebrating being 10 years empowered. She is the most incredible person I have ever met and I'm so honoured to walk my path along side her.Support the show

    Chapter Four: The Transient States of Consciousness between the Layers

    This chapter offers brief summaries of the transient states of consciousness we experience as we move between each layer of the soul and the signposts to look out for. These descriptions will provide some insight into what sideways or backwards movements to expect, which can cause us to feel like we're digressing in our growth on our path of awakening. In fact, the real work begins after an awakening. In the transient states we experience after an awakening, we might find ourselves stuck. These transition states are nothing to be concerned about. No matter if your awakenings are minor or major, they can cause you to re-evaluate your beliefs or re-adjust your life. Throughout my journey of awakening, I have often found myself out of sorts after such experiences. Normal routines no longer gave me comfort, and some of the people I enjoyed spending time with felt out of context with where my life was going. Our consciousness changes with each awakening we experience as we move through the layers of the soul. With each awakening, we feel different because we see life from a broader vantage point. The changes that take place can range from subtle shifts we hardly notice to major breakthroughs in awareness. No matter how big or small a shift we experience, the landscape of the mind itself remains relatively the same. The mind changes slowly, which can cause us to return to our previous state of consciousness. Therefore, each shift initiates an adjustment period.  

    Chapter Three: The Evolution of the Soul

One is the darkness of the mind; the other is the darkness in the silence. The dark times we experience in our minds relate to the struggles and challenges we have with the outside world, our past experiences, and our struggles with ourselves. These become the dark times we go through. The darkness in the silence is the place within us where we experience the presence of God.  This chapter ends with the description of the veils that cover our true nature and how to remove them to experience a greater depth of the silence that lives within in us all.

Do you follow your mind, or do you look deeper within before you make big life decisions?Ask yourself: What is the will of my soul? Take some time with this question. Ask yourself before your mind takes hold, like before bed or when you first awaken. Then write down your answer. Another tool is to ask before you meditate. During the meditation, let go of the idea that you will receive an answer. Your answer may just come when you least expect it.Make small steps at surrendering the will of your mind. Notice where and when you can let go of little wants and desires. Work this into your relationships with others, staying present with the moment. Surrender your desire to leave this moment to endlessly chase thoughts in your mind.Take time to work at developing your ability to listen to your heart. Make life an adventure. Spend a day following your inner guidance. 1. Start by becoming quiet. 2. Listen and watch for clues. When it feels right or when you get a nudge or a sudden knowingness, act on it. 3. Do whatever your guidance is telling you. For example, go for a walk. If you are guided, stop into a store. Allow whatever comes. The fun part is to just trust, even if it doesn't make sense to you. The longer you work at being guided, the more interesting it gets.As you keep practicing surrender, bring as much love into your interactions with self and others as you can.

Watch how the things you have your attention on move into your life.Take some time to look at what is in your range of trajectory. Where are you pointing? Some of the things we discuss are how people often look to see themselves in other people and this is one of the most common things that unifies us to others. We also look at how people should try to look closely at the qualities in others that they value, striking up conversations in person, and living more in the world rather than on social media. There are many interesting observations that we make about our society in this episode.Tools for Session 10For an entire day, try to find something you admire in every person you meet. If you want to take this one step further, after you find something you like about another, let them know.Do you spend enough time talking with people face to face? If you interact more on social media, take some time for real time conversations. A good sign that you are out of balance with your phone is when you are visiting someone and, during your visit, you keep checking your phone or start a conversation on it with someone else. While visiting someone, it is courteous to keep your phone put away.I challenge you to try to start a conversation with a stranger every time you go out.There are many organizations you can join and volunteer with. Be brave and join one in your community.Dedicate yourself to being kind to everyone you meet. Are you using your heart to guide your decision making for what is right for you? Do you ever hold yourself to old standards in how you used to be rather than what you can become? Instead of saying “I can't” say “I will” and watch your world begin to change. eTools for Session 9Ask yourself: “What is my purpose?” Write down the things that come to mind when you ask yourself this question.Identify where you may be following in your parents' or a friend's footsteps. Keep in mind that this is not necessarily bad if you are consciously choosing this for yourself.Set aside excuses as to why you cannot live your life. Then identify if you are going against what you really want in your life.Become aware of friendships that no longer serve you. It is not a good thing to banish people from your life, but if someone is holding you back, let them go with love.Answer this question: How do you live a full and purposeful life?Remove all the obstacles that are preventing you from following your dreams. Do you believe in your dreams? If not, why not?Become aware of how often you say, “I can't.” Are you willing to have enough courage to replace that with “I will”?Become aware of where are you holding yourself back from living your purpose. Do you have old stories about yourself that might no longer be true?Take notice of how and why you hold yourself back from following your heart. Is it because others won't approve or support you?

Why on earth would you be willing to carry the weight of your traumas on your back for miles and miles if they weren't providing you with an opportunity to live a more peaceful life? This is a very heavy session, and personally one of my absolute favorites in this series. A lot of what is said in this session spoke to me on a very personal level and woke me up. I hope it does that for you too.Tools for Session 8Make a list of the things that have power over you. In this list, include what you cannot live without.What are your comforts? Do you have rituals you must follow? For example: Do you need to have three coffees before you think you can function? This is how a comfort controls you.Look at your fears as if they are not yours. Write down how this changes your thoughts about the fear you are viewing.Can you think of any examples where fear has distorted a truth you hold?When you made a list of your stresses, were there any that were not real? Watch for this when you feel stressed. Are you stressing over real things, or future things?What does a typical day entail for you? Do you have things that sap your time and energy? Over the next few days, stay very aware of everything that is happening around you. Try to catch subtle aspects of your environment. Sometimes it can feel nearly impossible to choose love when we are put in a challenging position. But what would happen if you chose love more than not? You may be surprised how choosing love will radiate the earth around you. This is a particularly powerful session that will leave you feeling energized.Tools for Session 4Spend a day choosing love. If someone speaks to you, respond with love. Everything you do, hold the intention of love while you do it.Take some time to review where you need to bring more love into your life. Are there any places you need to insert more love for yourself or others?Are you kind to yourself? This includes how you talk to yourself in your mind. If not, practice letting go of any dialogue that is unkind.Make a list of all the reasons why you would terminate a relationship with a friend or partner. Take some time to review why you feel the way you do. Are there any wounds that you need to heal from the past?Do your fears trap you or cause you to hold back your love in fear of getting hurt? If so, take whatever steps you can to let go of your fear. Bring logic around your fears and insert love wherever you can.Do you worry about things that are not happening in the moment? When you notice that you're doing this, be willing to set down your worries.Practice doing the meditation exercise on love. Think about a time when you were loved or when you loved a person, place, or thing. Call up that memory and feel it. Once you can feel it, now just rest in it. If other thoughts arise, just let them float away and rest in the feeling of love. It can also be helpful to slow down your breathing and hold your attention on your heart.For a day, practice holding everyone you see in love. Try to see yourself in others. What lies beyond our fears? What happens when we pour devotion into our life? How do we become empowered? These are some questions that are answered in this session. This particular session contains some incredible wisdom to help us live beyond our fears and find ourselves in a far more empowered state.Tools for Session 3Write down some goals that you would like to achieve. 2. I would like to challenge you to pour devotion into your life. Be creative here. For example: Pour your devotion into saying hi to everyone you meet and address everyone by looking them in the eyes. Another way would be to devote yourself to your work, friends, and family or to any task you are doing. As you do this lesson, allow the presence of your devotion to fill you up with what you are devoting yourself to.Spend an entire day devoted to what is under your nose. If someone calls for your attention, give them 100 per cent of your focus. The ability to do that would greatly enhance the quality of your relationships with your partner or your children, friends, and co-workers.Think of a difficult situation in your life. Now look beyond the struggles, loss, or even anger you may have had and ask yourself: What did I learn from that? How did this experience cause me to grow? How has my life changed for the better? Write down your answers. Perhaps you will find you didn't learn anything, but maybe, in time, with a different perspective, your answers to these questions will offer insight.Make a list of all the things that cause you to feel vulnerability. Once you have your list, start an action plan on how you are going to walk through your vulnerabilities. Note: Vulnerabilities are closely related to your fears. You can include fears in this list.What disempowers you? Disempowerment is anything that makes you feel weak, causes you to fight, flight, or freeze. Include the triggers that cause you to be sad or angry. This is a big question worth spending some time on. After you have your list, ask yourself what the possible solution is for you.Make a list of the changes you want to implement in your life. What needs to change? What are you not willing to change and why? In your response, be sure to look at your answers very closely. Look at it as if it were someone else's issue that needed to change. How would you advise them to deal with your problem? If you answer is based in fear, or thoughts that are not true, real, or yours, you may want to reevaluate why you're not willing to make the change.Practice the Three Step Healing exercise in this chapter.What is holding me back from following my heart? It can be easy to become swooped up by the temptations that life present us. With all of the luxuries in the world that are being thrown in our face, it can be easy to fall victim to desires. We can also believe that happiness exists in the things we want, but sadly it is only a matter of time before our minds come up with the next thing to chase. If we have peace within, we no longer require temporary relief through the acquisition of thing after thing after thing.Tools for Session 2Make a list of your desires. Once you have your list, ask yourself: “Are these desires healthy for me?”Once you have your list of desires, can you identify a deeper desire that you are unconsciously trying to achieve?What are your habits? Do your habits serve you, or are you serving your habits?Where are you repeating patterns in your life? Do you attract scenarios where your payoffs get you a similar reward?Can you identify any areas in which you are fulfilling the desire of another or societal expectation?Do you have any unresolved conflicts within you? Do your unresolved conflicts manifest undesirable results in your life?Do you have secret desires in your relationship? What things do you expect your partner to just know about you, and have they ever caused an argument? Once you identify a secret desire, share your needs more openly with your partner.Practice dropping into your heart. It can be a very simple process. Just close your eyes and feel your heart expand and contract while you breathe slowly in and out. If your mind starts to talk to you, just ignore it and listen for the solitude of your heart.Can you think of any of your heart's desires? Most of us wouldn't either believe this statistic or realize that our minds are constantly being bombarded with thoughts to that degree. To add to this, a majority of them are negative. In this session, we explore the mind's tendencies, how to better manage and use our minds, and why it is so important to just be cognizant of the realities of what is going on with our mind day to day.Tools for Session 1Take inventory of your thoughts. Start documenting all the different thoughts you have.Once you have worked at this for a few days, look at what you have written and identify which thoughts are untrue, unreal, or not yours. Notice what thoughts you get caught up in. This is a great exercise for you to get to know what's happening in your mind. 3. Just watch your thoughts. Try this out for an hour or even a day. When you notice that you have started to think about the thoughts in your head, just gently return to watching your thoughts as if they are a movie. When I refer to “watching your thoughts,” I mean you don't get to talk to them or even silently think about them either.Pretend that your mind is a movie screen. Everything you see and hear is being projected on you like a movie. As in the above lesson, just watch the movie, but this time, include everything happening around you.Pay attention to how your mind pre-determines outcomes before they happen. This happens a lot in situations that you are most familiar with, like at work and with family. When you notice that you are doing this, be willing to stop and return to the moment. Keep working at stopping yourself from leaving what is happening in front of you. When your mind starts to pre-determine an outcome, you have left the presence of this moment.Do you have things that make you angry or frustrate you on a regular basis? If so, practice removing your expectations and see if this changes your experience.Take some time and make a list of the things you think might be out of date in your beliefs and thoughts.
