And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. NASB 35 And yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children.” 36 Now one of the Pharisees was requesting Him to eat with him, and He entered the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. 37 And there was a woman in the city who was a sinner; and when she learned that He was reclining at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster vial of perfume, 38 and standing behind Him at His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, and began kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume. Meditation on Scripture: If we are not careful or thoughtful we can end up with a misunderstanding of what this message teaches. First we must be careful not to mix up the stories of this occurring. There is another one that shows up later. Jesus corrects people regarding their misunderstanding of the action this woman performs. Jesus accepted her tribute from this woman for various reasons. Jesus calls out the hypocrisy of human judgment. There is certainly a value in this lesson but I think for the moment I would like to focus on the woman and her actions. The humility and love represented are so meaningful. Jesus will go on to compare the actions of this woman to His host but the reason he does so is the devotion this woman displays. There is a deep devotion she shows. So in this situation it can be helpful to consider ourselves in this role. Do we feel the kind of love and devotion that would inspire us to humble ourselves in front of others? Do we worry too much about what other people would think instead of truly lifting our eyes to glorify God? As you read about her act to glorify God you can really connect with how meaningful Jesus was to her. THis was not a passive act of regular gratitude. This was a profound and gut wrenching description of the value this woman placed on Jesus. So as we reflect on the disinterested perspective she took on her own pride we have something to reflect on. Are we willing to similarly pour out our love for God? How can we demonstrate his same kind of gratitude for the Lord? Put your heart and mind on the things that God calls to you as things to show Him gratitude. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. 756 To What Shall I compare The People of This Generation, A Guided Christian Meditation on Luke 7:31-34 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving jor anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation Luke 7 ESV Luke 7 31 “To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.' 33 For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.' 34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' 35 Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.” NET 31 “To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, yet you did not dance; we wailed in mourning, yet you did not weep.' 33 For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!' 34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him, a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' 35 But wisdom is vindicated by all her children.” Meditation on Scripture: Among the great battlefronts of our generation, I believe that the enemy has a distinct goal of disrupting the family. Mothers and Fathers who raise their children in love of God directly conflicts with Satan's plans. Our current culture is seemingly designed to erode the strength of that family. Many things which are meant to be sacred our culture holds up as obvious desires of the flesh that must be indulge and event flaunted. The sacred role mothers and fathers fill in a righteous family represent a Godly influence in the child's life. In past years I have done episodes on Mothers day and as I was pondering this scripture there is a deep divide on the expectations on Godly men. The temptations of this current generation are so much more complex and profound than have every been in the history of the world. Kings of the past have not had such an access to the temptations of our generation. There are two conflicting messages. Obviously men have to fall into all those temptations because they are men. On the other hand there are equally strong condemnations of men in general for not having the moral strength they once had. It is a divide and confused message. The division in arguments that Jesus spoke about against the pharisees is equally brought against us in our day. It is left to us as men and women who believe in Christ to discern the truth. God is well aware of the challenges that face us as we attempt to do His will. He knows our temptations and our tendencies, and yet He has expectations that we rise above, lifted by the Cross. I invite you to take whatever struggles you have with this current subject matter to the Lord in peaceful moments of prayer and reflection such as this meditation. God can take the confusing messages of the world of shame and was them away with our sin. What is left is an inspirational message of grace that lifts us out of the mess we would otherwise be left to. Receive of God's grace. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. This message challenges us to reignite our dreams and embrace God's vision for our lives. Drawing inspiration from Jeremiah 29:11, we're reminded that God has plans to prosper us, not to harm us. The sermon introduces the DREAM acronym: Dedicate yourself to God, Reserve time with Him, Evaluate your abilities, Associate with the right people, and Make your dreams known. These steps encourage us to align our aspirations with God's will, surround ourselves with positive influences, and boldly declare our faith-filled goals. The message emphasizes that it's never too late to dream again, using George Foreman's comeback story as a powerful illustration. As we reflect on this, let's consider how we can apply these principles to revive our own dreams and walk more closely with God.

This episode is a must-listen for any creative entrepreneur ready to stop playing small and lead their business with confidence. You're not just a wedding pro – you're a CEO: Whether you're a solo planner or run a full team, you are the visionary and decision-maker in your business.Playing small feels safe but keeps you stuck: Fear of rejection, discomfort, or being “too much” holds many business owners back from growth.People-pleasing costs your business: Saying yes to the wrong clients or avoiding boundaries leads to burnout and resentment.Boundaries are protection, not punishment: Clear systems, contracts, and expectations create freedom, not friction.CEO time is essential: Dedicate daily time to strategic tasks like reviewing numbers, planning marketing, and evaluating systems.Leadership isn't martyrdom: CEOs delegate, automate, and design scalable structures—they don't do it all alone.Mindset impacts money: Limiting beliefs around pricing, perfectionism, or approval-seeking stem from past conditioning—and can be rewired.Fake it till you make it works (when done right): Ask yourself “What would the CEO do?” when making tough business decisions.Confidence is contagious: Thinking like a CEO shifts how you show up, how you sell, and how others perceive your business. You don't have to do it alone: Community, coaching, and mentorship create the structure and support to help you thrive.
754 I Send My Messenger Before Your Face?, A Guided Christian Meditation on Luke 7:27-30 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Scripture for Meditation Luke 7 ESV 27 This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.' 28 I tell you, among those born of women none is greater than John. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” 29 (When all the people heard this, and the tax collectors too, they declared God just, having been baptized with the baptism of John, 30 but the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.) KJV 27 This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. Meditation on Scripture: This passage is a continuation of Jesus's response to John. Jesus himself declares that John was a prophet and the greatest there was. Specifically because he came to teach about Jesus. He also was testifying that he was greater than John the Baptist, since he also referred to himself as the least in the kingdom. The Son of God descended below all. After this he took on the sin of the world and as a result was both the lowest, but also the greatest. John testified of that. No matter what Good moral lessons the scriptures teach we should recognize that first and foremost the purpose of scripture is to testify of Christ and our need of Him. It is interesting that those who would be baptised believed that they were baptised of John saw this statement as a justifying God. and the Pharisees and lawyers, who rejected the baptism of John, did not receive this well. They denied the counsel of God that would have blessed their lives as much as anyone else. The willingness of the people to be baptised was directly connected with their willingness to believe the words of Jesus. When we do what God asks us to do, that is one way we can demonstrate our faith in God. It is not through thosue actions that we earn some credit score in heaven, but it is a demonstration of faith in Jesus Christ, as James says. Place your faith entirely in Jesus Christ and follow those things He asks you to do. THe new testament is filled with commandments of Jesus. We should seek them out and seek to do them, not to try and earn heaven but to align with the faith that we profess. If we love Him, we will keep His commandments. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. 752 What Did You Go To The Wilderness to See?, A Guided Christian Meditation on Luke 7:24-26 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Scripture for Meditation Luke 7 NKJV 24 When the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 25 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings' courts. 26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. NIV 24 After John's messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 25 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. 26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. Meditation on Scripture: John the Baptist did not come to tell the people what they already expected or wanted to hear. He did not come in the way they expected. In some ways he was very surprising. He was dressed very hubly. They referred to him as a “Wild Man.” He had unique elements of life instituted by the Nazarene oath. He was set apart for a purpose. As he said, it was to make straight the path for the Lord, or to prepare the world for the coming of the Lord. Due to the unexpected message he taught, he amassed a following that ended up being problematic for religious leaders at the time. Jesus makes the point to show, there was a reason that drew the people to John's message and that drew their hearts and minds to it when they heard it. As a result many more were ready to receive the Messiah. God uses regular people to do his work. John the Baptist had a very specific calling. It was the work given to John by God that made that calling holy. God makes His work holy. Jesus did not truely need John the Baptist. There are many ways God could have done this but he chose John. Similarly God doesn't need us to do His work, but as we participate in His work, our efforts are made holy by Him. Just as John humbly submitted to Jesus when his work was done, so should we take the same mindset around what God has called us to. What has God called you to in life? How can you learn to hold your calling more humbly like John. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation Luke 7 NASB 19 And after summoning two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or are we to look for another?” 20 When the men came to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask, ‘Are You the Coming One, or are we to look for another?'” 21 At that very time He cured many people of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits; and He gave sight to many who were blind. 22 And He answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: people who were blind receive sight, people who limped walk, people with leprosy are cleansed and people who were deaf hear, dead people are raised up, and people who are poor have the gospel preached to them. 23 And blessed is he who takes no offense at me.” RSV 19 Aznd John, calling to him two of his disciples, sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are you he who is to come, or shall we look for another?” 20 And when the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who is to come, or shall we look for another?'” 21 In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and on many that were blind he bestowed sight. 22 And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them. 23 And blessed is he who takes no offense at me.” Meditation on Scripture: I've heard multiple commentaries on this scripture. On the one hand John knew the divinity of Jesus from the womb when he leaped in his mother when she drew near the pregnant Mary. In the book of John it is John the Baptist who confirms to his disciples that Jesus is the lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world. Yet I have heard other commentaries stating that John was legitimately investigating the divinity of Jesus. In any case I love this scripture. John points out to these disciples needed to find out for themselves that Jesus was the one they were waiting for. Many times when people start their journey in faith they do so with a tentative and borrowed faith. This is a normal development. The hope is that at some point we all do what these disciples of John did. We need to find out for ourselves. Additionally the thing that they were comparing was eventually related to prophecy in scripture. When these disciples hear the answer Jesus gave they would have seen Jesus works and compared that to the prophecies Jesus mentioned here. The Messiah would do these things and Jesus had done them. Regardless of how long we have been in the faith it helps to continually confirm our faith in Jesus through scripture, talking to spiritual leaders we trust, and prayer and reflection. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. 746 He Had Compassion on Her, A Guided Christian Meditation on Luke 7:11-15 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation Luke 7 NKJV 11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. NASB 11 Soon afterward Jesus went to a city called Nain; and His disciples were going along with Him, accompanied by a large crowd. 12 Now as He approached the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a sizeable crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her and said to her, “Do not go on weeping.” 14 And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise!” 15 And the dead man sat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother. Meditation on Scripture: When I first read this scripture in the past I was impressed by the power Jesus demonstrated over death. It is clear that Luke was intending to highlight Jesus' power over death and how that impacted the people. They responded with fear and then turned to glorify God. This is the natural response to God's power. It wasn't until I was reflecting on why this story was written. It is a very short account of what happened. No details except that of a desperate mother. Jesus could have demonstrated His power by moving the mount of Olives or some other visible feat. He chose to save a Mother. At this time of the year we celebrate mother's day. We can be tempted to think of glorious successes. Perhaps this sets a challenging unrealistic standard for family relationships. This account from Luke demonstrates a family in agony. It demonstrates a family breaking, being separated by death, and in this time the prospect of a childless mother with nobody to care for her and protect her. Many times in our lives it seems like this can be just an appropriate reflection of Mother's day also. A mother in desperation before the Lord when her family seemed to be deteriorating. Aside from the miracle the only response Jesus showed was that He felt compassion. As you struggle in life and things inevitably do not go your way, remember the widow of Nain. When you feel broken or that your hope is fading remember that Jesus demonstrated compassion on this nameless mother. He calmed her weeping, then solved her problems with His touch. I hope and pray that each of us can trust Jesus enough to look to the way in which he chooses to heal us and our relationships. Many times it is not in the method we hope for or suspect, but he does it with compassion. Look to Jesus for healing and know that as your reach out to God wrapped in the blanket of His grace, that he can heal all. In Him you are enough and will be forever more. Diary of a Serial Hostess Podcast (private feed for victoriadelamaza@icloud.com)
Simple, Delicious, Healthy, and NutritiousThat's my mantra when deciding what to make for dinner. But these days, it's not as easy as the classic “meat, potatoes, and a green vegetable” formula. Gone are the nights when a bowl of Spaghetti Carbonara or a quickly grilled steak was enough to satisfy. Now, I have to consider where the food came from, how it was grown, who raised it, what it ate—and whether it had a happy life.On top of that, there's an overwhelming amount of nutritional information to juggle. I need to think about food groups, proteins, complex and simple carbohydrates, starches, sucrose, fructose, glycemic indexes, glucose levels, gluten… and whether this meal will spike my cholesterol or just give me a heart attack later instead of now.I often see friends in the supermarket, dazed and glassy-eyed, squinting at nutrition labels and sighing in frustration—knowing they've got a hungry family waiting at home and nothing in the basket. Here's what I tell them (and what I try to follow myself—try being the key word, because like everyone else, I'm not perfect):Buy natural, preferably organic ingredients, and cook them at home. That's the hard part—cooking. But cook you must, because we can no longer rely on the food industry to do it for us if we want to stay healthy.Start small. Invest in a few reliable cookbooks to serve as both reference and inspiration. Choose books that reflect your favorite cuisine, but also include a classic French cookbook for foundational techniques, and a good Italian one for simple sauces and pastas. Focus on recipes with six or fewer ingredients. Personally, I prefer cookbooks by home cooks rather than restaurant chefs—because their advice is tailored for real kitchens with real schedules.Dedicate one day a week to meal prep. Make a big pot of vegetable soup, a hearty tomato sauce, a meat-based ragù, and roast a chicken or two. Use the vegetable peels and scraps to make a nourishing broth for risottos, soups, or to cook pasta. Keep good cheese, fresh fruit, and Greek yogurt on hand for quick desserts or snack attacks. Buy what's in season—it keeps your diet varied and your grocery bills in check. Then, during the week, dinner becomes a breeze: toss a salad, slice a few tomatoes, and reheat something delicious. I also adore eggs for dinner—soft-boiled eggs with fried bread soldiers was a childhood favorite and takes less than 10 minutes. Frittatas or veggie-filled omelets are just as quick and comforting. On weekends, we escape to Southampton, NY—between organic farms and pesticide-free orchards, I'm in heaven. Weekend cooking and entertaining are easy and joyful. A bit of chopping, a few herbs, a drizzle of olive oil, maybe some freshly caught fish—and we're set for incredible, seasonal meals that are as simple as they are satisfying. I usually make extra of whatever is easily transportable, so the weekday fridge is stocked, too.Yes, cooking takes effort and planning. But the benefits—for your health, your mood, and your sense of purpose—far outweigh the work. When done with pleasure instead of dread, it becomes something much more than a chore. It becomes an act of care, creativity, and joy.So no, simple, delicious, healthy, and nutritious isn't impossible. It just takes a little love. Thank you for subscribing. 740 Three Day Uncertainty, A Guided Christian Meditation on Joshua 1:10-11 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Scripture for Meditation Joshua 1 NIV 10 So Joshua ordered the officers of the people: 11 “Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.'” NASB 10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11 “Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you are going to cross this Jordan, to go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you, to possess it.'”. Meditation on Scripture: Many times in our life we don't know what God is planning. Even when we feel like we do know what God wants for us, it is generally a short term plan. Here in this scripture they were told very little. Pack three days food for three days but God did not share intimate details will all those who were going on this trip it seems. I have a lot of experience in the military and it is often the case that most people are far from the decisions being made. They just do what they can with the very limited information they have. This thought reminded me of the surprise the early disciples must have faced. In preparation for Easter, during this week I have been reading and watching movies about the last week of Jesus' life I am often struck by how much we benefit from hindsight. When his apostles struggle to understand what Jessu was telling them about His death and resurrection it surprises us that they didnt see it coming. They thought that Jess would be the Messiah to deliver them from Roman occupation. And instead of being triumphant and sitting on the thrown of David, he died. The disciples had such limited understanding and they tried their best. Luckily God understood them. Similarly it is with us. Most of the time we don't understand what God has in mind for us even in the short term. WE dont know how to plan for His action in our life. WE struggle to understand all His word also. The resurrection shows us several important things. God has a plan and will execute it to bless our lives. It also shows us that we are not owed perfect understanding before we take action with the Lord. As you reflect on the blessing of the resurrection, remember that it is not required for us to understand all of God's plan in order for that plan to bless us. 738 Be Strong And Very Courageous, A Guided Christian Meditation on Joshua 1:7-9 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Scripture for Meditation Joshua 1 NIV 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” NASB 7 Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the Law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may achieve success wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Meditation on Scripture: I find this scripture to be very interesting it is an idea sandwich or you could call it a small chiasm emphasizing the part in the middle. God's word is that we should be courageous then he talks about obeying the law, and then he turns back to being courageous. In some ways it may be surprising that in between the commands for courage is adherence to the law. I think many times if we are not careful when we seek to reject the feelings of shame that we feel for past sins we can rush right past the justice of the things God asks us into. Why does God invite us to do certain things? WHy do God's commandments exist? I certainly don't claim to speak for God but it seems a very large demotion if we think of the law only as the thing we will fail at that Jessus can then forgive us for when we receive His grace. That makes it seem like the law is meaningless. Although we don't live under the Law of Moses it is valuable to ponder God's law in general. It is my belief that God invites us into good. He creates laws and rules not to punish but to purify. He gives us commands such as chastity, honesty, faithfulness with the knowledge that as we observe them, we will be transformed and blessed. When we fail to do what God asks us to do we miss out on the blessings associated with the rule. For example if we lie then we come to not be trusted even by ourselves. So courage is not only to avoid anxiety for things that don't matter but to appropriately to learn to not fear anything that cant touch our soul. Jesus said we should not fear anything that can only kill our bodies. God could kill us and also has control over our very soul and he has offered grace and love to us. If we truly learn to prioritize the things God loves, then we need not fear anything else. If you ever feel fear of emotions, sickness, pain, death, or anything else consider this, what is that compared to the Love of God which has chosen to deliver us from the natural consequences of our failure. So rise up in the strength of the Lord, recommitting to God that you will be courageous in pursuing a life with Him and let every other fear fall away. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Scripture for Meditation Joshua 1 ESV 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. RSV 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, as I promised to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphra′tes, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Meditation on Scripture: This time of this scripture was a great transition for Joshua, who was to lead the Israelites into the promised land after Moses. It is interesting how different the demands on these two leaders was. Moses was predominantly responsible for leading the Israelites through the desert. Joshua was a warrior leader. Each had a very different mission. God used their different perspectives, temperaments and strengths do do His important work. Humans dont know what is required to do what God needs but God does. God guided Moses just enough for him to be able to do what was needed. There were many times when Moses didnt know exactly what to do but worked it out. Sometimes he failed but God helped him resolve the problems. Similarly Joshua received the support he needed to do what God called him to. Whatever God calls us to, He prepares us for. This is what gave Joshua courage. God was fulfilling his promises through Joshua. God would not allow Joshua to fail because He had called him. God will not allow you to fail if you are accomplishing God's purposes. This is why discernment is so important. When we do our own will we can fail. Each one of us has things we are called to. Similar to Moses and Joshua, we don't know or understand what those things are until it comes, or even later than that. Also similarly, with God's help you can accomplish all that God truely calls you to. Have trust and confidence in the Lord. God will never fail or forsake you. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Scripture for Meditation Joshua 1 NIV 1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses ESV 1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. Meditation on Scripture: The reflection I have here is more a human one than a theological one. Joshua was given a difficult task. He was commanded to lead the Israelites after the death of Moses. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to follow in his footsteps. Moses is still considered one of the greatest prophets in history. Imagine carrying the weight of leading such a large group of people who had so recently spent 40 years wandering in the desert. Did Joshua deserve to lead the people? Was he enough to the task There are times in our lives when we are called to do very difficult things. In those moments we can wrestle with an interesting set of extremes. Part of us doubts our ability to handle it all. I suspect there have been many such circumstances in your life. It seems like a consistent message from the world is that you are enough. On a human level I understand the desire for that though but when it comes down to it, that might miss an important element. We are enough when aligned with the creator of the universe. To answer the question about Joshua, I would suggest that Joshua in and of himself obviously did not deserve the role he was given. In his own strength he would not have been enough to do what God needed him to do. The other side of the question is that God picked him, so in that sense he did deserve it, not based on his own goodness but the choice of the Lord. Similarly you have been called and chosen for your time and your station in life. I trust that God will empower you to do those things you have been called to. I firmly believe that God empowers those he calls. As you look at the difficulties you have faced and will face in life know this, wether you deserve to succeed on your own is a completely irrelevant question. The fact is you have been chosen by the almighty and will be able to do EVERYTHING that God asks of you if you learn how to rely on God. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. 732 He Knows What Is In Each Person, A Guided Christian Meditation on John 2:23-25 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Scripture for Meditation John 2 NIV 23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person. RSV 23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs which he did; 24 but Jesus did not trust himself to them, 25 because he knew all men and needed no one to bear witness of man; for he himself knew what was in man. Meditation on Scripture: A common thing that people struggle with is feeling like they constantly wear a mask. People spend a great deal of time to hide who they are from the world. Many people fear that we will not be accepted and that we are not as good as other people, or that there are unique failures that make us especially bad. I see this in the people I counsel often. We also may worry that if people knew what was truly in our heads that they would not accept us. Various times throughout scripture Jesus reads people's thoughts and in this passage Jesus confirms that he knew the hearts of the people and this is still true. He is aware of not only your current struggles and sins but also every possible future sin and all past ones together with perfect clarity. He knows every embarrassment, every shame, every trauma, every pain, every scar. I think at times this can be unsettling because those are exactly the things we seek to hide from many people. It is worthless to try and hide who we are from God or to pretend we are something we are not. He knows. Yet the beauty is that with all that, God loves you deeply and profoundly. He has offered the world to you. Everything that He has can and will be yours if you will turn to him. We don't need to pretend that we are perfect or lie to ourselves to receive God's love and grace. In fact that gets in the way of the spiritual blessings that God offers. God has already chosen to love you. We love Him because He first loved us. God is perfectly familiar with you. He knows you perfectly and chose to love what you are. Exactly as you are, you have been offered God's eternal love. Pause for a moment and take that in. God knows your worst parts and showed, through the death of Jesus Christ, that he is willing to wash away all those flaws. Receive His love and drop all fear and shame as you reject weakness. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Ronel Golden, author of The Getting Out Guide, knows this firsthand. Through her book, she provides survivors with a practical roadmap to escape domestic violence and create a sustainable, independent future.Golden's guide goes beyond simply telling victims to leave; it offers a structured, step-by-step approach to ensure they can stay out for good. “The average person in an abusive relationship will go back to their abuser up to seven times,” Golden explains. Her book aims to break this cycle by addressing both the psychological and logistical barriers survivors face when trying to leave. One of the key insights Golden shares is the importance of understanding why someone is vulnerable to abuse in the first place. Without this awareness, survivors may unknowingly fall into another abusive relationship. “If you don't learn why you're vulnerable to abuse, the odds of getting into another abusive relationship are extremely high,” she warns. By providing this knowledge, The Getting Out Guide helps survivors regain control over their lives and make informed choices about their future.Golden emphasizes that abuse is not always physical. Many victims endure psychological, financial, social, and even spiritual abuse, all of which contribute to their entrapment. Recognizing these patterns is a crucial step toward regaining personal freedom. For those seeking a way out, Golden offers a framework built on seven pillars of existence: mental, financial, social, environmental, rights, physical, and spiritual. 724 Do Whatever He Tells You, A Guided Christian Meditation on John 2:5-8 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect wi h the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation John 2 NASB 5 His mother *said to the servants, “Whatever He tells you, do it.” 6 Now there were six stone waterpots standing there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing two or three measures each. 7 Jesus *said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He *said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” And they took it to him. ESV 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. Meditation on Scripture: I love the way Jesus did this miracle. He had the washing jars filled with water. He didn't fill serving pitchers with water. He chose something that was for ceremonial cleaning. This ceremonial cleaning was prescribed by Jewish rules. We could even see this as a metaphor for the cleansing that Jesus came to earth to offer. He is the living water that came down from heaven. The water was replaced by wine. That was the miracle. The fruit of the vine became a symbol during the last supper. Wine represented the blood of Jesus that would cleanse the sin of the world. So in this simple act, he replaced the ceremonial cleaning water of the old law, with his own blood. This was a symbol that His earthly ministry created a new paradigm for redemption. All of this was wrapped up in the symbol of the miracle. Not to mention there was a profound mystery behind how he actually did it. How did God's power interface with matter? Clearly the servants had no idea about any of this. They got one command: “Do whatever he tells you.” They didn't need philosophizing or scientific descriptions, in order to obey. They did whatever Jesus asked them to. Do we have the same mindset? During this meditation ponder on the state of your heart. Is it aligned with this idea? Do you hold this command in your heart? Do whatever he tells you. Of course it is of central importance to know what God's will is but are we dedicated to do it if we knew exactly what it was? Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Final Question: If you consider the invitation and command to persevere in the faith, what change in your life does that bring to your mind?
