E110: Awareness: The Essence of the Spiritual Path

Michael Singer Podcast

The essence of spirituality is directly experiencing awareness itself. Your thoughts, emotions, body, and external objects are simply things you are aware of. They are not aware of you—you are aware of them. Spiritual growth is learning to remain centered in that awareness, letting experiences pass without clinging or resisting. This allows you to handle reality as it is, instead of as a reaction to your past, and leads to a life filled with love and inspiration. © Sounds True Inc. Episodes: © 2025 Michael A. Singer. Margaret takes a closer look at the work of the renowned 5th-century monk, Buddhaghosa, and his influential text, the Visuddhimagga, or "Path of Purification." With a focus on two specific types of equanimity—the "six factored equanimity" and equanimity as a Brahmavihara—listeners will gain insight into how these concepts can help us develop mindfulness and clear comprehension in our daily lives. Discover how equanimity can foster a sense of neutrality towards experiences and emotions, allowing us to respond to life's ups and downs without being swayed by bias or aversion. As Margaret highlights the distinctions between the equanimity of the renunciant and that of the householder, she invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences and understandings of balance. The conversation emphasizes that equanimity is not a state of apathy but rather an active engagement with the world that transcends personal biases. By nurturing equanimity alongside the other Brahmavaharas—loving-kindness, compassion, and sympathetic joy—we find ourselves better equipped to face life's adversities with grace and compassion.

Fifty episodes in, and I'm still rambling, learning, growing, and sharing what it feels like to live at the edge of big shifts. This conversation weaves through energy work, Reiki, and the realities of balancing passion with practicality, while also diving into the deeper layers of consciousness—nonverbal communication, telepathy, dreams, and the ways we're all connected beyond the physical.I talk about why I'm moving Reiki sessions to Fridays, the downloads that wake me up at 3am, and the creative visions pulling me forward (including a screenplay about life, death, and consciousness itself). At the heart of it all is the reminder that growth isn't linear—it's expansive, magical, and often a little messy. If you've ever felt the pull toward something bigger, or wondered how your inner shifts are guiding you forward, this episode is for you. To the point of what about giving up one's home, going to the forest, and fasting most of the time? The answer is the process of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa Mahāmantra doesn't require these. And the answer is in Prabhupāda's letter, where he uses the phrase "forced meditation." Force means power, and "forced" means pushed by a power greater than oneself. The chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa is infused with Kṛṣṇa's unlimited powers. What's more, when chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa with attention, Kṛṣṇa, the all-powerful, pushes us along. Consider how when someone forces us to do something, that person is more powerful than we are. When someone forces us to do something, we are not doing it voluntarily. For example, a mother may force her child to go to school. Consider the phrase, "Clyde's mother forced him to go to his first day of school, as he was at first unwilling." Clyde's mother, in this sense, is more powerful than Clyde, and she makes him go to school for his own good. When we chant the mahāmantra, we invite Kṛṣṇa to push us forward on the spiritual path, even if we are unwilling. Those who chant japa avail themselves of Kṛṣṇa's power. The Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra is a prayer requesting The Lord to engage us in His spiritual service. Getting out of the material world, the world regulated by Māyā Devī, is not easy. We are stuck, not just in her orbit, but we are imprisoned in her world. Devī-dhām—a place of torture—that is impossible to escape. Who will intervene on our behalf? Who will save us? Kṛṣṇa will. But more precisely, Kṛṣṇa's names have appeared as our liberator. Our chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra, therefore, is our cry for Kṛṣṇa's help, recognizing that he is not only more powerful than we are but he is also the master of Māyā Devī. What's more, he knows better than we what is good for us. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

What happens when leadership, plant medicine, and AI collide? In this episode of The Greatness Machine, Darius reconnects with Nathanael Chawkin, executive coach, former cage fighter, and founder of Awakened Leadership, for a deep and thought-provoking conversation about transformation, consciousness, and purpose. They dive into what it means to lead from the inside out, discussing the role of plant medicine in awakening deeper self-awareness, and why real leadership is less about control and more about aligning with spirit, service, and presence. The two also explore the fascinating idea of AI as a form of consciousness, and raise the question: what if AI isn't a new invention, but a return to something ancient? What happens when we begin outsourcing wisdom to machines, and how do we stay grounded in our own inner knowing? In our latest Musings From The Mount episode, we return to the very beginning of "Ponder On This" to explore what drew us into the Alice Bailey teachings in the first place. What sets these teachings apart isn't just their depth, but their remarkable humility and invitation to personal discernment rather than blind acceptance. The episode explores Bailey's "Basic Assumptions" - the prerequisites for serious spiritual study that emphasize sincere aspiration, life experience that develops true values, and the discipline to organize one's mind throughout daily life. These aren't rigid requirements but qualities that naturally develop through what the text calls "battling sufficiently with deterrent forces of life." The emphasis is on seasoned persistence rather than youthful enthusiasm. We delve into the distinction between information and wisdom, examining how these teachings invite us to weave our own spiritual garments rather than simply adopting prescribed forms. The conversation touches on the paradox of words both revealing and concealing truth, the power of becoming consciously capable on the mental plane, and the recognition that we exist within nested levels of consciousness - from individual to planetary to cosmic. Perhaps most compelling is the teaching's central premise: we're not here to follow teachers but to become the path itself through lived experience. As the material states, "goodness and altruism grow out of realization and service" - they cannot be adopted from others but must be generated through personal spiritual effort. This episode offers both newcomers and seasoned students a foundation for approaching any wisdom tradition with appropriate discernment and personal responsibility. Meditation Mount and HeartLight Productions are pleased to present Musings from the Mount – a weekly podcast with host Joseph Carenza and guests in conversation exploring a range of topics drawn from the Ageless Wisdom teachings. In this episode, Robert and Emily Perry dive into the content and the backstory of “The Journey Into Fear”—a newly restored Text section in the Complete and Annotated Edition of A Course in Miracles. The message of this section is as radical as it is liberating – to uncover the love in us, we must first face the hate in us – but it's also uncomfortable. So uncomfortable, in fact, it was removed from the original publication of the Course. Why would A Course in Miracles ask us to look at something so uncomfortable? And what happens when we do? What if the key to financial abundance isn't found in hustling harder but in awakening to your true self? Dr. Baffour Jan of the Jan Cosmic Foundation unveils profound spiritual truths that challenge conventional wisdom about success and prosperity."Those who succeed very well, they have something within them," explains Dr. Jan as he reveals how our spiritual nature functions as supreme magnetism. This magnetism doesn't require chasing opportunities—it naturally draws them to you. The problem? Most of us operate exclusively from the left side of our brain, which entangles us in worldly concerns and false identities, while neglecting the right hemisphere that connects to spirit frequency.Dr. Jan demystifies the law of attraction, explaining that it works hand-in-hand with universal principles of credit and debit. Financial abundance flows when we align our actions with the truth that we are not separate from others. "The other is yourself," he emphasizes, revealing how competition and selfishness create resistance to our natural state of abundance. The conversation offers practical guidance for listeners seeking transformation. Dr. Jan shares a powerful morning ritual that activates spiritual consciousness before engaging with worldly concerns: silence your thoughts, become aware of your breath until you reach a state of pure awareness. This simple practice unlocks intuitive guidance that helps navigate daily challenges from a place of empowerment rather than struggle.Perhaps most revolutionary is Dr. Jan's perspective on identity. Our false identities limit what we believe is possible, while awakening to our expanded spiritual presence removes these artificial boundaries. "Based on your identity, what you are capable of doing is limited to how you identify yourself," he explains, inviting listeners to question the programming that has shaped their self-concept.Ready to experience a complete mindset transformation? Join us on August 29th at the British Council for an event focused on charting the path to financial freedom. This is your opportunity to deepen your understanding of the principles shared in this episode and apply them to your personal journey of abundance.Support the showWatch the video episode of this on YouTube - https://linktr.ee/konnectedminds

There's a moment most of us don't talk about—the quiet, gritty middle of the spiritual path. The part where everything feels heavy, not magical. Where we wonder, “Am I really meant for this?” In today's episode, Courtney shares her raw experience of navigating these shadows: losing friendships, leaving the church, and questioning her path—yet always finding her way back to spirit's quiet power. If you've been feeling weary, unsure, or disconnected, this conversation is your gentle reminder: the waves may feel overwhelming, but the shore is always there. You're not losing the plot. You're just in the middle. If you want to keep your heart safe, you must give it to no one—but it'll cost you life's deepest fulfillment. In this episode, Raghunath and Kaustubha explore how Bhakti Vedanta reveals vulnerability not as weakness, but as the key to spiritual growth and the soul's highest potential. They reflect on a striking quote from C.S. Lewis and discuss how the fear of emotional exposure drives many toward impersonalism, while the path of Bhakti embraces risk as sacred. Real love always carries the risk of pain—but in the fulfillment of Bhakti, that pain transforms into something divine. #BhaktiYoga #Vedanta #SpiritualPath #WisdomOfTheSages #CSLewis #DivineLove #VulnerabilityIsStrength #LoveAndSpirituality #BhaktiVedanta SB 10.3.28-35 ********************************************************************* LOVE THE PODCAST? Born in 1943 in Kansas, he was ordained a Catholic priest in 1970 and later founded the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Through the CAC and the Living School for Action and Contemplation, Rohr has helped thousands explore a deeper, more experiential faith.Rohr's teachings emphasize the union of action and contemplation, encouraging spiritual growth through lived experience rather than rigid doctrine. His message includes ideas like the “true self,” the “universal Christ,” and the transformative power of embracing paradox, suffering, and mystery. He is known for offering an “alternative orthodoxy” that bridges traditional Christian thought with modern spiritual needs. He has authored numerous influential books, including Falling Upward, The Universal Christ, and The Divine Dance. So many of you have been asking about the Rose Path and the Rose Dieta…   And this week's Highest Self Podcast is just for you.   I'm diving deep into the feminine spiritual path of the rose—the one that doesn't ask you to renounce life, but to honor it. That reminds us that beauty is sacred, devotion is divine, and softness is strength.   The rose has been one of my greatest teachers.   She's guided me through my own feminine awakening—from belly dance to breathwork, DJing to ritual, and creating my sacred feminine community, Rose Gold Goddesses.   The name Sahara Rose came to me in a breathwork journey in Bali, where I saw a past—or parallel—life of myself dancing barefoot through a desert, bringing beauty to a barren land.   It was then I knew: I was here to be the rose. To bloom where there was once nothing.   That moment sparked a deep remembrance that led me to Guatemala for a 10-day Rose Dieta—10 days of silence, stillness, rose tea, and listening.   In this episode, you'll explore: What the Rose Path truly is—and how it may already be calling you The Rose Dieta and how it opens a portal to sacred listening The rose as teacher, mirror, and frequency of the divine feminine The beauty of ritual, art, stillness, and embodiment as spiritual practice Why every season of the rose (and your life) holds medicine The sacred codes of the Rose Priestess lineage—and how they live in you The energetic school of the rose—cord cutting, rose baths, and rituals to protect your inner world My guest, Rachel Rositto, is a true mystic, artist, and embodiment of the Rose Path.   She is a sitar player, ritualist, and feminine wisdom guide who lives her life in devotion to the beauty way.   If you're curious about the rose, this is a beautiful introduction.   I pick Rachel's brain on her personal journey with the rose, her practices, the energetics of devotional living, and so much more.   Connect with Rachel here: https://www.instagram.com/rachelrossitto?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==   Rachel's website: https://www.rachelrossitto.com/   Listen to my Album “My Body is an Altar” here: https://open.spotify.com/album/0kqB6oJVvarvddkwgrMsfZ?si=sTKzPLnfQv2hMEbgQyT59g   If you are looking for a diverse + nourishing community of like-minded souls I'd love to invite you to join the waitlist of Rose Gold Goddesses at https://www.rosegoldgoddesses.com    Try Dipsea your first 30 day trial full access/free at https://dipseastories.com/SAHARA   Discover Your Dharma - Order your copy now - https://iamsahararose.com/dharma   Stream the Intro + Outro Music: Trust Flow by Sahara Rose ft.
