Phillips, a gay, former novice of the Catholic Church, reveals her religious crucible and the wisdom she's gained along the way. She says, “I'm no longer a seeker, I'm a finder. Every morning, I find my source. As I say in one of my poems, ‘I eat God for breakfast, and all day long. I metabolize love. ‘” Jan Phillips is an award-winning photographer, writer, multimedia artist, and workshop leader. She's a co-founder of the Livingkindness Foundation, a global network for grassroots philanthropists. Early in her life she entered a convent as a novice to become a nun at the Catholic community of nuns at St. Joseph's Provincial House in Latham, New York. In this episode I discuss trusting your Spiritual path and finding the "knowing" of which direction to go and how to trust the calling to keep going, to keep going and how to trust it.  Here is what is discussed….  That first "real knowing" that occurs and using it as a touchstone. How to recognize the signs and guidance coming to you. Why this path is occuring and stirring you up. What does Codependency have to do with it? Why the logical brain won't help you. How to surrender to receiving more and why it works!  Why patterns of distrust show up in specific areas in your life. When in trust, manifesting occurs. How resistance can block you from receiving. Be aware of your own authority when receiving guidance. How your beliefs can shape your level of trust vs. dis-trust. How to use your body as the barometer for self-trust and clear boundaries. How to trust the signs and know if you're getting a sign. Why a certain type of validation is important for self-trust. Why to always go within and use your own authority will save you on this path. Why Fear will stop you and what to do when it comes up. Good company is that which we experience with those companions who are a beacon of light by nature of their vision, commitment, practice, enduring love, and personal sacrifice. It feeds our deepest essence and longing and can keep reminding us of what the necessity is in our lives. Good company is a mood, a context that creates and sustains an energetic field that is necessary for any work on the path. It is an experience of the nature of elegance, service, kindness, compassion, and generosity and of being with those who are reliable about these commitments. We can derive great benefit from those who care enough to tell us the truth, as can happen in 12 Step groups. We need to find our own answers, but we cannot do it alone. We don't remove ourselves from loving relationship with others who are not good company, who do not share our purpose and commitment; we just don't associate with them as much as we used to. Relationship exists with ourselves, others, and a power greater than ourselves. We can observe ourselves--the way we are--without judgment. We all have buffers that protect us and our survival strategies, which keep us from observing what we don't know about ourselves. In good company, interpersonal conflicts can be engaged in a loving, pragmatic way that encourages self-honesty. With attention to our thoughts, they begin to lose their control over us. We are not always good company for ourselves, but the more we are the more we can be that for others. Spiritual life is like being in a foreign land where we chance upon each other, take the opportunity to relish a few moments together, and speak of longing for our home. Tom Lennon, Ph.D., is a cultural resource consultant with a deep interest in environmental conflict resolution. He leads groups with the intention of supporting the spiritual process in others.

Karl's mindfulness practice began when he first started sewing clothing in 2012, as a means of finding and creating his own personal way of expressing himself. Little did he know that the creative outlet of sewing would lead him to his Spiritual Path. Over 10 years later he continues to explore facets of himself through travel, permaculture, nature based therapy, and of course sewing, and is excited to begin the next chapter of his journey by exploring men's work through his own lens of Sparkle Masculinity.

There are millions of souls in India and around the world that follow the Radha Swami Faith. Today, information about the founder of this spiritual path: Soami Ji Maharaj, the central text, a beautiful collection of mystic poetry and prose known as the Sar Bachan, and about the spiritual teachings and meditation practices of the Radhasoami Satsang!   "This world is perishable and so also is all that pertains to it. A wise man is he, who, having closely examined the nature of existence here, has realized that it is all transitory and illusory, and consecrated his human form by devoting himself to Bhajan and Simran (listening to inner Sounds and repetition of the Holy Name of the Supreme Being) and who, taking the fullest advantage of the various faculties which the Supreme Father has graciously endowed him with, has translated the invaluable jewel within him, which is Surat (spirit) or the essence of his being, to its original abode." (The Teachings of Soamiji Maharaj, Sar Bachan Prose, Book One)   Devotional Practices of the Radhasoami Faith According to Huzur Maharaj in Prem Patra Radhasoami:   "It should be noted that all the following activities are included in devotional practices (Abhyas):   (1) Sumiran (Simran: Repetition of the Holy Name); (2) Sumiran and Dhyan (Repetition of the Holy Name along with Contemplation of the Holy Form); (3) Bhajan (Listening to the Sound Current in meditation). (4) Recitation of holy books or listening to their recital in Satsang intelligently; (5) Discussing the principles of the Radhasoami Faith or listening to such discussion; (6) Thinking about and reflecting on matters pertaining to the Radhasoami Faith and its practices and pondering them; and, (7) Examining the ways of one's mind and senses daily, keeping them under control as far as possible." In this episode, Susan and  Zoe discuss:Listening to the call of the divineThe narrative withinThe journey towards spirituality Nature does not rush Key Takeaways:There are many ways that divinity will communicate with you, it may sometimes come from many different places - but it will all make sense and you'll awaken into spirituality. The most important narrative is within. People will tell you what story to believe, but you must find out for yourself the truth and trust in that truth. There is no quick fix to spirituality. It's really about going on a journey of discovery and doing the inner work. Face the sum of your whole self - the good and the bad. Nature is never in a rush, it always gets there at the right time. We are nature. So we must treat our own spiritual growth with patience and perseverance. “When we do that, we put a kink in the hose pipe. It's like we get drip-fed little pieces of information of our life, our purpose, and our direction. There's something that's deeply missing and it's the soul, it's the connection to spirit…” —   Zoe DavenportConnect with  Zoe Davenport:Website: www.zoedavenport.com Connect with Susan Kennard:Awaken the Light Within FREE VIDEO COURSETwitter: @susankennardFacebook: Susan Kennard - Expand Your Consciousness, Sparkle to SuccessWebsite: SusanKennard.co.ukLinkedIn: Susan KennardEmail: Susan@SusanKennard.co.uk Reach out to find the program for you!  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine TallaAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. When we stop living under other people's expectations, we become the only writers of our history and builders of our paths. Today's guest is Arjuna Dharmadas. He is a man who left the country of his birth to live a nomadic lifestyle and follow his path, taking him to live in Thailand, India, Egypt, Guatemala, etc. Arjuna is the founder of an Ashram in Guatemala, where I experienced the dark retreat a few years ago. They are now based in Europe, specifically in Italy, where he and his wife continue to teach people and transform their lives through spirituality. In this episode, we will talk about how to avoid falling into a cult, ego, personal practices, and what it was like for Arjuna to leave Germany and start teaching around the world. ABOUT ARJUNA DHARMADAS Arjuna has been studying & practicing eastern spiritual traditions all over the Eastern & Western world for over twenty years starting his path and deep soul-quest at nineteen when he discovered Theravada Buddhism and Vipassana meditation along with Sivananda Yoga and left home for good. Convinced that there is much more to life that he's been told, he's completed dozens of retreats in the Buddhist, Yogic, Tantrik and Advaita (Non-Duality) traditions, some of them in silence, solitude and complete darkness. Arjuna recognizes that we all make our path as we walk, no size fits all. We are all fiercely unique writers of our own story once we let go of the desire to fulfill anyone else's expectations but the ones that make our Soul alive and are ready to go on our own Hero's journey. He aspires to bring the courage for grounded Awareness into every breath. Modern Stoicism is more diverse than I knew, I learnt when I spoke with Simon Drew, Kai Whiting and Sharon Lebell. In particular, the divine element in ancient Stoicism, which was central, has not been discarded by everyone involved in the recent Stoic revival. In this conversation, we talk about Stoicism, the Logos, the cosmos, Christianity, and the spiritual path of Dante's Divine Comedy. I hope it's enjoyable. For more on The Walled Garden - https://thewalledgarden.com

Meditation Without Borders – Being the Change Podcast

There are some that proudly proclaim they are on a spiritual path while others want nothing to do with it. However, spirituality is not something you can be "into" or not, everything is spirit. We are all devoted something, the question is what do you worship? What is getting the bulk of your attention? Do you worship your problems by thinking of them constantly? Do you worship your stress by serving it through coping behaviors? In this episode, Isabel and Kristen discuss how we're all evolving on different paths to greater self realization and that through meditation, you can effortlessly redirect the flow of your attention away from troubles and surface desires to your highest self.  Show Notes: 2:00 We are all on a spiritual path (some actively – some not)5:00 “A lot of times people´s belief systems, they may be a very spiritual person, but they are not into `spirituality´ as a subject matter but they are doing things that are full of spirit.” Kristen7:00 Even our obstacles guide us 8.48: Soma and Devotion9:47 “As meditators, our soma flow is actually being redirected inward… it flips around and goes back to its source. What is the source of the spiritual path? God is the creator of the spiritual path. God is the source of the inner Light and Sound as well. The meditation practices of inner Light, inner seeing, as well as inner hearing, the inner Sound meditation, are not the property of any particular sect or religion. Baba Devi Sahab: "Unlike other worship methods popular in religions and sects with different names, these two methods are not man-made. God himself is the founder and operator of these methods. Since the beginning God has kept these two methods inside human beings." Today on this Sant Mat Satsang Podcast, a production of Spiritual Awakening Radio, readings from: newly translated mystic poems of Kabir, Eugnostos the Blessed from the Nag Hammadi Library on the prevailing philosophies of the world and a higher message from beyond, Soamiji Maharaj, Sar Bachan Radhasoami Prose, Huzur Maharaj Rai Saligram, Swami Vyasanand's The Inward Journey of the Soul (Chala Hansa Nij Desh! "Since this Quintessential Vibration or Sound springs forth directly from God, it is imbued with the qualities of God and it bestows its own qualities upon its perceiver also, and has a natural propensity to attract its perceiver (soul) to its Source, thereby effecting the complete merger of the soul into the Supreme Soul that is God. That is why meditation on the inner Sound has been reckoned by sages and scriptures to be the loftiest of all forms of meditation." (Swami Achyutanand, Yoga of Inner Light and Sound) Says Kabir, "From one Supreme Soul Countless others, All of them merge back Into the One they came from. What's so strange About this? With the advent of the nuclear age, Western science reached the pinnacle of invention, but lacked a critical understanding of its underlying wisdom or purpose. Carl Jung framed the problem as “modern man in search of a soul.” When the Western mind turned outward, searching for what was missing, it first turned to the East. A trickle of Eastern gurus soon became a flood, and by the late 1960s, all sorts of gurus, roshis, rinpoches, and other teachers were promising some form of mastery of life - if only one followed their path. Many Americans embarked upon this quest for spirituality, mostly in California, and later across the nation. Our guests, Dan Millman and Ron Boyer, were at the forefront of the California movement. They not only embraced Eastern wisdom; they took an active part in remaking Western psychology–at the time mired in psychoanalysis and behaviorism–into a humanistic “third force” of psychology that expanded the discipline to include religion, spirituality, and self-actualization. Along the way, they discovered not only the benefits, but also the pitfalls, of embarking on a spiritual path. This is their story.   Dan Millman, a former world trampoline champion, Stanford University gymnastics coach, martial arts instructor, and Oberlin college professor, has authored 18 books published in 29 languages. Way of the Peaceful Warrior – after initially modest sales, was republished by New World Library, became a mega-best seller, and was adapted to film in 2006. Dan has traveled widely, teaching in over thirty countries. His most current book is Peaceful Heart, Warrior Spirit, which is the true story of his spiritual quest. To learn more about his books, events, online courses, and life-purpose calculator, visit  www.PeacefulWarrior.comRonald L Boyer, MA, DDIv, a Jungian depth psychologist, protégé and colleague of Dr. Stanley Krippner, helped Stan create the original curriculum model for the Humanistic Psychology Institute (now Saybrook University) back in the early 70s, and went on the become the director of the Sonoma Institute, the first accredited graduate training program in the nation for psychotherapists trained in the humanistic-transpersonal framework. An award-winning poet, author, and screenwriter, Ron is also the director of the Krippner Center for Indigenous Studies and currently a doctoral student in Cultural and Historical Studies of Religion at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley.

Gregory David Roberts is the author of best selling novel, Shantaram and sequel, Mountain Shadow. Selling over 6 million copies, it is partly based on Gregory's own life experience of escaping prison in Australia and being on the run, during which time he lived in a slum in India. After ten years as a fugitive, Gregory was re-captured in Germany and spent time in both solitary confinement and maximum security before being released over seven years later. After five years on parole, Gregory finished writing Shantaram, got it published and sold the movie rights. After withdrawing from society around seven years ago, and going 'off  grid,' Gregory committed himself to exploring and researching spirituality in a 'leap of faith'. This  resulted in him writing a book called The Spiritual Path; a personal account of his journey looking at science, belief, faith and devotion. Gregory tells me his story about escaping from prison and being on the run for ten years. He reflects on how his time in prison and how solitary confinement was transformative for him. He talks about what it's like to be a fugitive, when the need to 'fit in' and go undetected is paramount and he shares his experience of living in an Indian slum. We talk about faith and how having purpose has the potential to ease the most dire of circumstances. We talk about self and ego, as well as the importance of devotion, and Gregory gives some sage advice for the spirituality curious (despite his protestations that he is ineligible to provide advice on such matters). Excitingly, Gregory shares some intel about the upcoming Apple + series of Shantaram starring Charlie Hunnam (if you've read the book you'll no doubt be as excited as I am). And finally,  he gives some great words of wisdom which are certainly evidence of a life less ordinary.Pick up a copy of Shantaram here and The Spiritual Path here.Find Sophie Elwes on Instagram.
