Sky and Ford (BFFs and writing partners) geek out about literary topics, from their current reading list to old school classics, to tropes and character types they both love and/or loath.
We are back for Season 4 of Booklandia! and we kick off the season with The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren. This marriage of convenience with only one bed and one see-through shower will steam up even the stoniest of hearts or will it?
This book is a "YES"! And a "Yes, please!" We loved this one and gushed about it. IF you feel similar, come hang with us or tell us why we are wrong about this one.
Science-minded revolutionaries and their faithful protectors!Yes, please.Arthur is big and brawny and Violet is a bit much, in the best way. Together they are a perfect concoction.
If you love a historical, a romance, and a science book all wrapped up into one, this book is for you. Oh, and have I mentioned they are lesbians for science?
We tried a classic of the craft. Lisa Kleypas is truly canon for the Historical Romance. Find out what we thought of the Wallflowers series' first novel.
What would be on your "Final Goodbye" Playlist? Ford and I try to find common ground on this episode, on a book, I for sure thought Ford was going to love. Are you ready for the existential labyrinth we accidentally head down?
Can you smell the laminating butter in the air? Grab your comfort and/or signature bakes and come listen to us discuss this romance set against a British baking show backdrop.
It's time to talk about a CLASSIC that is going to be made into A MOVIE!!! (Though we get so engrossed in the book we forget to talk about that...)Red White and Royal Blue by @casey.mcquiston is a masterpiece and one of our all-time favs!# Five stars, Four Flames. This book was the escapist reality I needed when it first came out and now looking back at it, still holds up. The characters, the scenarios, and the overall world that McQuiston creates pull me in and don't let go until the final page. Alex and Henry are great short-lived enemies-to-lovers. Cute, funny, sexy, and spicy. There is a rich world of politics in the background of this love story. The secondary characters are 3-dimensional complex beings. The stakes are high, and the love letters are well-written. I can keep gushing, but you get the picture. THIS ONE IS GOOOOD. And it's about to be a movie. If you haven't yet, get reading this one immediately. stmartinspressromance
We're back baby! We are kicking off season 3 with a recap of all the books we're read since we last chatted. Busting onto the scene "kool-aid man" style. We throw a lot of book titles and authors at you, so have your note-taking tools ready, we read a lot of good stuff!
We loved the Bastards so much we had to make a second episode. This time we are talking about the entire series. Join us to gush over these lovely historicals with a feminist flair! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
In this episode, we talk about this back-catalog read as we wait for the follow-up to Bombshell to come out. (Which I loved and recommend to anyone who asks.) This series proceeds the Hell's Bells by a year or two, so the main characters of that series are secondary here, which is a fun glimpse. I am so glad I went back into these works, this series is a bunch of fun. I have never been into Historical Romance because it is so limiting in terms of who and what women can be, but Sarah MacLean is different and so are her women. I love a dark mysterious man, sneaking into rooms, hiding in shadows, using a silly moniker. Devil charmed me from the moment he was dumb-struck by Felicity. He is all brawn and power, but he cannot deny her needs and wishes. I did find some of the themes and even sentences repeated enough times that I noticed, but overall I enjoyed the flow of the book and the setup for future books. I special shout out to the whispering bench scene as one of the most original ones I have read in a while. Beast's story is next and you better believe I am already reading it. I also have a feeling that our villain is going to end up having a complicated story of his own. This one is a "yes, please" for me. -Sky ------------------- #Booklandia #StressReliefBookClub #BooksLover #BookCommunity #RomanceBooks #RomanceNovel #RomanceReads #RomanceReader #RomanceReaders #Romancelandia #HistoricalRomance #BookReview #BookReviewer #BookReviews #Bookstagram #Romancestagram #Podcasting #Podcaster #Podcast #RomancePodcast #BookReviewPodcast #PodcastersOfInstagram #PodcastersOfIG #wickedandthewallflower #bareknucklebastards #bareknucklebastardsseries #avonbooks --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Though a Die Hard CLo fan, I was not big of the last several books, so I came into this one with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I like a good, action-driven romance and in the beginning, this book is not at all that. It definitely turns in the action direction at the about halfway point. Lily and Leo have a previous history (a romance gone wrong), which was not truly well established. Their heartbreak, longing, and feelings of abandonment stemmed from a very short romance that, as a reader, I didn't quite connect to, but... --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

This lead us to lose track of what each of us was reading, so we decided to do an episode, where we try to catch each other and all of you up on the things we read recently. Ari is a lovely, driven weather reporter for KSEA 6, is scheming with Russell, the sports guy, to bring their bosses back together after they witness a blowout fight. As Ari and Russ plot, they get closer and closer eventually falling for each other. I don't know. It was cute, there was banter, fun dates, weird music, swing dancing in full dress-up, a spunky teen with a great taste in musicals and yet, all I can muster is “I don't know, I guess it wasn't bad”. Great representation both of people who live their lives with clinical depression and DILFs. Russ is sweet. Ari is very in her head and he is just the person to get her out of there, but it's like I always knew nothing bad was going to happen. (I realize this is the escapist nature of romance). It was just too soft for me. I will continue to read RLS. She crafts great prose, but I think I like her YA characters better than her adults. This book did make me want to sit by the fire, under a blanket, and drink spiked hot chocolate.- Sky --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
