In Rachel Lynn Solomon's newest book Business or Pleasure and in Lana Ferguson's new book The Nanny, both authors engage directly with sex positivity and honest intimacy through their characters and the plot.I'll let the authors describe their books, but we're talking about sex lessons where the heroine is teaching the hero how to be better at sex after a terrible one night stand, about OnlyFans and autonomous sex work, and most of all, about how romance is encouraging people to own their sexuality and advocate for their pleasure and satisfaction. I had a BALL recording this, and I hope you enjoy listening to it just as much. Thank you to Kristin Cipolla, their publicist at PenguinRandomHouse, for the incredible pitch and for setting up this interview. Coupons! Ari is a lovely, driven weather reporter for KSEA 6, is scheming with Russell, the sports guy, to bring their bosses back together after they witness a blowout fight. As Ari and Russ plot, they get closer and closer eventually falling for each other. I don't know. It was cute, there was banter, fun dates, weird music, swing dancing in full dress-up, a spunky teen with a great taste in musicals and yet, all I can muster is “I don't know, I guess it wasn't bad”. Great representation both of people who live their lives with clinical depression and DILFs. Russ is sweet. Ari is very in her head and he is just the person to get her out of there, but it's like I always knew nothing bad was going to happen. (I realize this is the escapist nature of romance). It was just too soft for me. I will continue to read RLS. She crafts great prose, but I think I like her YA characters better than her adults. This book did make me want to sit by the fire, under a blanket, and drink spiked hot chocolate.- Sky --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

This episode is dedicated to Rachel Lynn! Today we are chatting about what it means to start fresh and stay dedicated to your goals! This includes a discussion on how to get back up when you fall. When approaching your goals, it is important to keep in mind you are the shot caller. This means that nothing is good, nothing is bad, it is what you make it. It's key to accept our failures and not let them get us off track. Instead use them to keep us focused! When we "fail" we have to keep in mind that we are 5% human and 95% spiritual beings. So be kind to your human and remind yourself that you can look at this is an obstacle or an opportunity. It is up to you only. One method I recommend for staying focused is creating a short term vision board. I like to set goals for the month and use the vision board as a visual to-do list. I have found this makes me so much more productive and allows me to keep on track when things don't go as planned. You are the only one who can take these aligned actions and hold yourself accountable! Remember, if you don't quit you won't fail! If you could leave a legacy for future generations, what would it look like? At the beginning of this year, we had the privilege of building a project with the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation for a very deserving young lady. Following the completion of the project, Nate Henley and Kelly Lauricella, of the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation, joined us on our Merit Matters podcast. Together, they shared the heartwarming story about the tremendous legacy their sister and cousin left for their family; a legacy that not only lives on through them, but one that is making a difference in the lives of many throughout our local communities. MORE ABOUT NATE & KELLY: Nathan Henley and Kelly Lauricella are both very close to the foundation. Nate is Rachel's older brother. He grew up with her in Tacoma, attending all of the same schools and even shared some classes with her in high school. He now serves as the Vice President of the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation while working full-time as the manager at the Lakewood Casa Mia Italian Restaurant. Kelly Lauricella is Rachel's cousin. She grew up in Tacoma and now resides in Lakewood with her husband and five pets! She started off her career in the engineering world, but realized that her passion was with helping others. She now volunteers full-time as a Director and Secretary of the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation and gets to help bring smiles to amazing kids and young adults each day. ABOUT THE FOUNDATION: The Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation was founded in 2015. Rachel Lynn Henley was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in 2007 when she was 14 years old and she fought fiercely and gracefully for 7-1/2 years before her battle ended peacefully on June 2, 2015. During her fight Rachel developed a passion for helping others, particularly kids and young adults dealing with a cancer diagnosis. One of her dreams was to create a foundation to provide support to various cancer research organizations focusing on pediatrics and sarcomas, as well as organizations that support the daily lives of those living with cancer. In an attempt to carry out her wishes in the best way possible, Rachel's family created the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation. The foundation provides an opportunity to contribute toward a cure and provide support to those who are affected by cancer. It brings great joy to Rachel's family knowing they are doing something that she not only wanted to see come to fruition, but that she was deeply passionate about.

Herndon Davis is P.P.E. - Pop, Politics and Entertainment

If there’s one thing that Rachel Lynn possesses, it’s gutsy faith to pursue her calling in music. From teaching herself how to play the guitar, to assembling a band, laying down tracks and getting industry buzz all in a relatively short period of time, Rachel’s story is one of inspiration as well as talent. Rachel Lynn has burst onto the music scene with a critically acclaimed music CD that combines her diverse vocal talent into a cohesive arc of rock, jazz, folk, with nuances of pop. She penned nearly all of her lyrics through both singular and shared experiences of life. Hence her vocals stand upon her desire to understand life in all its vibrant hues and colors.
