No hubo agonía ni drama; simplemente suspiró con alivio, entregó el equipaje de este mundo y partió a otro lugar más allá de lo conocido.Cuando abrio sus ojos se encontró flotando con una ligereza inaudita. Para su sorpresas ahora sus rodillas no crujían como usualmente lo hacían, además  No le dolía la espalda y aquella molestia permanente en su estomago había desaparecido. Tomas se veía sentado plácidamente sobre una nube tibia que parecía de lana recién peinada, con los pies colgando sobre un horizonte de tonos dorados y violetas. Para adicionar a su placer no había tráfico de fondo, ni alarmas sonando a todas horas, tampoco había reproches sobre la tapa del inodoro, ni reclamos por no haber sacado la basura a tiempo o porque siempre estaba viendo futbol en la televisión.  Había únicamente un silencio sagrado, limpio que realmente era un como un bálsamo para su alma.Tomás dejó caer la cabeza hacia atrás, aspiró aquel perfume a lavanda celestial y soltó un suspiro hondo, monumental. Se cruzó de brazos, y curiosamente después de cuatro décadas de matrimonio comenzaba unas verdaderas vacaciones eternas.Hasta que una brisa extraña agitó la neblina que cubria un poco sus alrededores y un rayo de luz ilumino una figura a lo lejos. Efectivamente atravesando un arcoíris con la velocidad y la determinación de un proyectil divino, una silueta alada se abría paso. Tomás entrecerró los párpados, y siguiendo sus enseñanzas de catecismo en la tierra pensó saber de quien se trataba. Seguramente seria San Pedro o en su reemplazo algún ángel querubín con un arpa dispuesto a darle la bienvenida. Pero la figura se acercaba con un vigor demasiado conocido y que le recordaba su vida anterior. Era realmente curioso ver aquellas alas s no con gracia etérea, sino con la prisa de quien llega tarde a una cita muy importante. De pronto lo oyo con un retumbar como de campana de bronce que además hacia eco en cada una de las nubes a su alrededor.—¡Tomás! ¡Tomi, mi cielo! ¡Ay, por todos los santos, sabía que te encontraría por aquí en algún momento. Que felicidad tan grande siento ahora. No había confusión posible: era Carmela. Llevaba una túnica de lino blanco resplandeciente, una aureola brillante perfectamente pulida e inclinada con coquetería mientras sus cristales de decoración dirigían la luz hacia arriba anunciando su aproximación. para colmo, venía batiendo las alas con una euforia desbordante como si fuera un colibrí multicolor. Cuando finalmente estaba cerca comenzó a agitar los brazos en el aire como si celebrara un reencuentro de telenovela.A Tomás se le borró la sonrisa beatífica en una milésima de segundo. El alma se le cayó al fondo de la nube. Instintivamente se puso de pie, dio tres zancadas apresuradas hacia atrás y extendió las dos manos hacia el frente con los dedos bien abiertos, clavando los talones como un policía de tránsito deteniendo un camión sin frenos.—¡Alto ahí! ¡Ni un aleteo más! —rugió Tomás, con el entrecejo fruncido de espanto—. ¡Ah, no, no, no! ¡Ni se te ocurra acercarte a saludarme con tanto entusiasmo!Carmela frenó en seco en pleno vuelo, levantando una nubecita de polvo de estrellas. Se cruzó de brazos en el aire  arrugando la túnica celestial y mirándolo con la misma expresión inquisidora que ponía los domingos por la mañana cuando él fingía estar dormido.—¿Pero qué te pasa, descarado? —reclamó ella, con las alas vibrando de pura indignación—. ¡Llevo esperándote siete meses y tres días! Dejé apartada una pradera bien linda y hice reservar a un grupo de querubines para los dos y vengo directo  a darte un abrazo de bienvenida a este paraíso, ¿y así me recibes? ¿Dónde está el cariño?—¡El cariño se quedó en la parroquia de San Judas Tadeo en mil novecientos ochenta y dos! —replicó Tomás, apuntándola con un dedo tembloroso pero firme—. Carmela bajó los brazos despacio, con la aureola tambaleándosele levemente sobre la cabeza, sin dar crédito a semejante audacia.—O sea que según tú... ¿ahora somos dos extraños?—¡Compañeros de galaxia, si acaso! —concluyó Tomás, volviendo a acomodarse en su nube con una serenidad recobrada y cruzándose de piernas—. Puedes ir a saludar a tus tías, buscarte un coro de ángeles o cantar alabanzas en el tercer cielo. Pero a mí me dejas en paz, Carmela, que si esto se llama paraíso, es porque aquí se viene a descansar.Pero no te entiendo de que hablas si hemos sido esposos durante más de cuarenta años y hemos vivido juntos todos estos años, porque no quieres recibirme como un esposo fiel y dedicado. Tomás sacudió la cabeza, adoptando un tono de abogado sagaz:—Tú te moriste primero, ¿sí o no? Sí. Yo me morí después, ¿cierto? Cierto.¡Yo no me pasé cuarenta años comiendo sopa sin sal para venir a renovar la hipoteca conyugal en la eternidad!Y ahora ambos estamos muertos Por lo tanto se aplico la cláusula de rescisión y se ejecutó por causas de fuerza mayor y aquí cada quien es un alma libre y soberana. Pues Las reglas son las reglas, Carmela, y en el cielo no nos vamos a saltar la ley. El padre Jerónimo lo dijo bien clarito frente a Dios, ante la virgen de yeso y con cincuenta parientes de testigos: hasta que la muerte los separe.

Arcana Unleashed is here, bringing new subclasses, spells, feats, magic items, and—most importantly—fresh opportunities for Tyler to find loopholes Wizards of the Coast absolutely did not intend. In Part 1, we discover that Clerics can apparently wizard better than Wizards, the Arcane Archer has finally been upgraded from "why?" to "okay, I guess," Monks can punch people and cast spells at the same time, and Warlocks can carry around the fading remains of a dead god like a supernatural emotional-support animal. Also, somewhere at Wizards of the Coast, an editor just felt a disturbance in the Force because Tyler realized you can shoot a magical darkness arrow into someone's shield. Show Notes We kick off our review of Arcana Unleashed, the new setting-agnostic collection of character options, rules, spells, magic items, factions, monsters, and other magical nonsense for D&D. The book isn't quite Tasha's-sized, but there's plenty here to keep us busy—which is why this review is absolutely becoming a series. Part 1 is all about subclasses, starting with the Arcana Domain Cleric. The old "what if my Cleric wanted to be a Wizard?" concept finally feels like it knows what it wants to be. Great Wizard spells, a nasty saving-throw penalty through Channel Divinity, and eventually access to high-level Wizard spells make this an extremely strong hybrid. Tyler immediately starts planning for Contingency and Wish, because of course he does. Then we revisit everyone's favorite subclass to forget exists: the Arcane Archer. It is unquestionably better than the 2014 version, which unfortunately clears a bar located somewhere beneath the basement. More Arcane Shot uses, better utility ammunition, and some genuinely cool later-level abilities help, but the subclass still struggles to generate much excitement. We also spend far too long discovering that Darkening Ammunition can apparently stick to any "solid surface," which means shields, possibly whales, and whatever other nonsense your table is willing to litigate. The Warrior of Mystic Arts Monk fares much better. Mechanically, it's essentially the Monk answer to the Eldritch Knight: punch things, cast Sorcerer spells, and eventually do both with increasingly ridiculous efficiency. The old Tattooed Warrior concept may have been more flavorful, but the finished version is clean, effective, and potentially terrifying once its spellcasting and Monk abilities start feeding into each other. Finally, we meet the Vestige Patron Warlock, where your patron is also your pet because apparently the traditional Warlock power dynamic wasn't complicated enough. Your Vestige can shift between Celestial, Fiend, and Undead forms, bringing different abilities along with it, and eventually gets some impressive summoning upgrades. Ash begins thoroughly uninterested and ends up won over almost entirely by the possibility of worshipping the forgotten god of toads. Which, frankly, is the strongest possible argument for the subclass. We wrap things up before reaching the Wizard subclasses, mostly because making Tyler wait another episode to talk about Wizards is funny. Spellcasting plus Monk action economy gets increasingly ridiculous at higher levels, and everybody seems fine with that. Vestige Patron is mechanically solid, narratively weird, and significantly better once you realize your patron can be the forgotten god of toads. The subclasses covered so far are generally simple, approachable, and effective without introducing a pile of unnecessary new systems. The Moon will ply the dark waters of the celestial sea the next few nights – a large region of sky that’s populated by constellations related to water. Tonight, the Moon sails from Aquarius the water bearer into Pisces, the fishes. Pisces is so long that the Moon will remain inside its borders until Monday night. The “sea” consists of six major constellations. Together, they cover almost one-eighth of the entire sky. All of them were created thousands of years ago by cultures around the Mediterranean Sea. The constellations probably were associated with water because the Sun passed across them during the rainy season. Like the open ocean on a moonless night, the entire region is dark – most of its stars are quite faint. The brightest of the lot is Fomalhaut. It’s in Piscis Austrinus, the southern fish. The star climbs into view in the southeast in early evening, and swims across the south during the night. It’s bright on its own, but the lack of other bright lights around it makes it really stand out. Pisces is especially dark. Most of its stars are impossible to see from light-polluted cities, or even the suburbs. And with the almost-full Moon passing through, it’s hard to see any of its stars even from sites that are far away from city lights. But no fun music like Star Wars, so I didn't read it. Cut to a triangle flying close to something that looks like the sun. Inside, these folks in funny robes stand back against a wall when a voice says it is time. This gold stuff turns into their suits. Apparently they don't know each other. It's 5000 BC in Mesopotamia and a crazy sea monster eats this kid's dad. Suddenly, this superhero flies in and takes that monster down. We see the other heroes take down other monsters. We got a group of 10 superheroes on our hands. They stand in V formation and wait for the people to thank them. One of the heroes leans down and hands a kid a knife. Here's who we have: Ikaris: basically Superman Sersi: can like mess with matter Thena: creates a weapon out of pure cosmic energy Kingo: laser fingers Phastos: creates advanced weapons and technology Makkari: basically the Flash Druig: mind control Gilgamesh: Hulk but not green Sprite: can change the appearance of things and appears as a child Ajak: the spiritual leader and healer who serves as the primary communicator with their Celestial creator Cut to present day and that knife is in a museum as an artifact that shaped history. The Eternals are still alive, cuz they're eternal. Sersi and Sprite live together in London. Ikaris left her without explanation centuries earlier. She's moved on and is now in a relationship with human Dane. When the trio is attacked by a monster like in the beginning. They're called Deviants. Ikaris arrives just in time to save the day. The Eternals were under the assumption there were no more Deviants. Which is why the Eternals haven't been in action for the past 500 years. We see a flashback of when Sersi and Ikaris got together…and I mean got together. #NotMyMarvel. They end up getting married. Back in the present, the 3 Eternals make it to South Dakota expecting to meet up with Ajak, only to find her dead. So it's time to get the band back together to figure out what to do next. Sersi is the new leader and meets with Arishem - the Celestial that sent the Eternals to Earth. Sersi learns that the Eternals' mission was actually to prepare Earth for the Emergence of a new Celestial. See, for millions of years, he has been planting Celestial seeds inside planets where the energy from large populations allows new Celestials to be born. The Deviants were sent to destroy the apex predators of each planet to ensure the development of intelligent life, but the Deviants evolved and started eating said intelligent life. So he created the Eternals to fight them. Now that the population of humans has reached the necessary size to allow the new Celestial to be born, Earth will be no more. Sersi doesn't love this and tells everyone else. Everyone is down to stop the plan. Everyone except for Ikaris. We find out that Ajak wanted to stop the Emergence and save humanity, so he led her to the Deviants and allowed them to kill her. Sprite joins Ikaris cuz she's in love with Ikaris while Kingo chooses to leave, agreeing with Ikaris but not wanting to hurt his friends.
