As Christians we are called to a more excellent way of living. If we call ourselves Christians – followers of Jesus Christ – than we are called to live a life of Love. Without Love we are nothing; but with Love we are everything (1 Corinthians 13:1-13; 1 John 4:7-14). These are not simple words […]
Our study in Acts brings us to a seemingly odd little story that may seem short enough to pass but is worth some time (Acts 20:7-12). We look at this story of Eutychus as well as the origin of the phrase ‘dead ringer’. If you ever find yourself impersonating a living person, here are some great […]
Disagreeing is something that we all don’t always do the right way – in love. Often our discourse dissolves into name calling or worse. But, we as Christians are called to do so much better and we see this all played out in the struggles of the early church (Acts 19:23-41). We are reminded that […]
Continuing on our study of the early church, we stop to think about power and how we can use the power that we have (Acts 19:1-22). This story is a reminder that darkness will hold dominion over our lives until we surrender to the power of God. And the wonderful part is that God’s power […]
This week we look at the faith and courage of four individuals engaged in the early church (Acts 18). We see that the faith of a disciple should be courageous and growing and share ways to build such a faith through continual learning.
We are excited to welcome John Mark Hicks to Cornerstone for an exciting and deep look at the theology of the table.
Building a Chirst-centered community requires interacting with people. And very likely, many will view the world differently than you do, which means we need to find some common ground. Paul shows how this can be done in a way that opens conversations about Jesus (Acts 17:16-34). And even if conversations aren’t started, we should always […]

Simple question – does your life match the Book? Continuing to explore the early Church and how it applies to living today (Acts 16:16-24).
The early church faced internal debates (Acts 15:1-41), namely whether Christians must first meet the laws of Moses before being recognized as a Christian. This question, what does it take to be a Christian, is still argued about today. We create barriers to finding Christ’s love through hypocrisy, name calling and even searching for happiness […]
Paul and Barnabas continue their mission trip, sharing the story of God and the message of Jesus (Acts 13:13-52). Through this story of faith and perseverance we are called to rely on God and to keep sharing the gospel.
Next in the story of the early church (Acts 13), Barnabas and Paul set out on a mission trip. From their journey, we see our own call to serve others and to witness for Jesus. We see how they responded to opposition, and are called to embrace opposition and witness in all of our life.
Continuing on in the study of Acts (Acts 12:1-18) brings a challenging story. In this part of the story we read of the death of James and the imprisonment of Peter. An angel visits Peter and he is able to escape prison. Here we find a challenge, as God saves Peter while James is killed. […]

What do dinner options have to do with God’s love for every person? Well, Peter gets a message that greatly expands the menu choices of early Christians (Acts 10). God told Peter, what He has made clean should not be called unclean. Now this wasn’t just a message just about food, as Peter will see […]
We return to the book of Acts, with an amazing story of the power of Jesus entering into someone’s life. Someone whose life has been stained by violence against the Christians. But there is no stain, no past, that Jesus cannot transform (Acts 9:1-43). We all have stains, but there is a greater power that […]
Think about how many crosses you came across today. Wes Baldwin stops in with an insightful message about the truly unexpectedness of the cross. Today the symbol of the cross has been so transformed from what it represented during Jesus’ time that the original power of this symbol can be lost. When we really understand […]
It’s all about the journey, so don’t stop believing. We are all on a journey, and get to meet different people along the way. Philip was on a journey where he met a eunuch reading scripture and started a conversation (Acts 8:26-40). From this story, we can see that impact we can have when we […]
