Sunday Service (2/22/26) // Revelation 13: 15-18 (ESV) // The Second Beast // 15 And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. 16 Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,[a] to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.[b]Footnotesa. Revelation 13: 16 For the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Prefaceb. Revelation 13: 18 Some manuscripts 616The video addresses common misconceptions and provides a theological interpretation of the Mark of the Beast as described in Revelation 13:15-18 (0:00-0:53). Pastor Daniel emphasizes the importance of understanding this biblical truth within its proper context, despite the confusion and speculation it often generates (0:56-1:23).Here are the key takeaways from the sermon:Context of Revelation 13 (1:31-4:00): The passage describes the "second beast" (the Antichrist) who will enforce worship of the "first beast" and implement a system of control, ultimately leading to the "mark of the beast."The Idolatrous Image (7:00-10:20): The sermon highlights that the image of the beast will be uniquely animated and able to speak, unlike previous biblical idols. This animation, whether technological or supernatural, will compel worship and has the authority to kill those who refuse.Worship Driven by Terror vs. Grace (11:28-16:20): A stark contrast is drawn between the Antichrist's coerced worship, driven by fear and threat of death, and the true Christ's invitation to worship, which is motivated by love, grace, and sacrifice. The video emphasizes that God's ultimate disposition towards humanity is grace, as seen in the closing verse of Revelation (15:33-16:20).Spiritual Significance of the Mark (18:54-25:30): The mark of the beast is primarily understood as a spiritual inversion and perversion of God's command for complete devotion, as outlined in Deuteronomy 6 (the Shema). It signifies full allegiance to the Antichrist, influencing thoughts and actions.Physical Consequences of the Mark (25:31-32:42): Beyond symbolism, the mark has undeniable physical implications, serving as a required universal identification system that controls economic activity. Those without the mark will be unable to buy or sell, leading to severe persecution and pressure to conform. The pastor contrasts this with God's provision for all, even those who reject Him.Clarification on the Mark (36:00-39:20): The sermon explicitly states that the mark of the beast is not a vaccine, internet service, or a day of worship. It will be totally recognizable and obvious, directly linked to the conscious worship of a man and participation in a new world religion. You cannot accidentally take the mark. The Number 666 (40:05-47:49): While acknowledging the historical use of gematria to interpret 666, the video suggests that its full meaning will likely be revealed during the tribulation period. Symbolically, the number six represents man's imperfection and falling short of God's perfection (represented by seven). Triple six emphasizes the amplification of man's fallenness and the unholy trinity's efforts to defy God.#Revelation #BookofRevelation #BibleStudy #BibleExplained #BiblicalStudies #BibleTeacher #WordOfGod #BiblicalLessons #BibleJournal #BibleReading #BibleStudyCommunity #BibleVerse #prophecy #prophetic #jerusalemWebsite: https://mbchicago.org

Reflection on Non-Judgment: The conversation shifted to a check-in on the previous week's practice of not judging, which was generally positive, prompting Soo Kim to ask for clarification on the difference between judgment and discernment. Jevon Perra initially requested a pause for the conversation to organize, noting Denise Darlene's quick start, but the discussion soon moved forward, focusing on these key spiritual concepts.Distinction Between Judgment and Discernment: Denise Darlene proposed that discernment and wisdom are the same, suggesting that judgment stems from fear and lacks peace, often involving labels and coming from the ego. Wisdom and discernment, conversely, come from love and result in peace. Jevon Perra cautioned that a form of discernment could still be rooted in fear, using the concept to create separation or a feeling of superiority.Peace as an Indicator for Wisdom: Denise Darlene maintained that if guidance is coming from a place of peace, it is wisdom guided by the Holy Spirit, which is a core concept in the Course in Miracles. Jevon Perra agreed that the presence of peace, love, and joy serves as an indicator of alignment, while experiences outside of peace, such as anger or frustration, signal alignment with the ego. Jevon Perra shared a personal anecdote of growing up in a religious family that misused "discernment" to enforce fear, highlighting that the resulting lack of peace was a clear sign they needed to leave the environment, demonstrating true discernment.Discussion on the Show Quantum Leap: Jevon Perra used the plot of the television show Quantum Leap as a metaphor for consciousness and purpose, where the character Sam Beckett leaps into different bodies to accomplish missions they do not remember. Brian Genovese, who loves the show, clarified that the mission is to set right what once went wrong, and once accomplished, the character leaps to the next adventure. Jevon Perra connected the show's themes to the idea that we are consciousness having an experience, which Brian Genovese agreed is a much deeper concept than people realize.Peace as a Guide and Awareness of Attachment: Denise Darlene restated the initial card's message that truth will correct all errors and that peace is the guide indicating alignment with the Holy Spirit. Jevon Perra noted that they can quickly tell when they are not in peace, which is always due to some attachment or idea of separation they are unwilling to let go of. They affirmed that the work involves bringing in and finding the truth to create the experience of peace.Clarification of "Truth": Soo Kim challenged the phrase "self-truth," suggesting that the focus should be on capital "T" Truth, representing non-duality, oneness, and unity, which is the voice of the Holy Spirit. Denise Darlene agreed that this pursuit of Truth often feels like death or betrayal, but confirms that this feeling is an indication they are on the right track.Reading from Manual for Teachers on Gentleness: The group decided to continue reading the "Manual for Teachers" from the Course in Miracles, focusing on the section "Gentleness". Soo Kim read that harm is impossible for God's teachers because it is the outcome of judgment and the denial of learning, making the Holy Spirit's lessons impossible to learn. Jevon Perra related the concept to a play, suggesting that consciousness is neither the hero nor the villain, and that believing in harming or saving is an attachment. The Strength of Gentleness: Soo Kim continued the reading, emphasizing that God's teachers are wholly gentle because gentleness is the strength needed for salvation to become easy. Jevon Perra described gentleness through the analogy of kindly waking a child from a nightmare, where the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit calls them out of the illusion. Jevon Perra offered a personal example of practicing gentleness in a relationship through non-resistance, which involved maintaining a state of "No, honey, it's okay" to diffuse conflict.Gentleness, Non-Resistance, and the Pain Body: Brian Genovese affirmed that Jevon Perra's non-resistance was successful because it denied the other person's ego the energy it sought to feed its "pain body," a concept also discussed by Eckhart Tolle. Denise Darlene added that kindness, not judgment or punishment, is what leads to repentance, echoing Christian scripture and the power of non-resistance in situations of conflict. Denise Darlene recounted an experience with their critical mother, noting that quiet non-engagement eventually exhausts the criticism, making them a less favorable person to complain to.The Choice Between Separation and Christ's Vision: Jevon Perra summarized the two ways of seeing the world: the world of separation, sin, and guilt (ego's perception), and Christ's vision (heaven on earth), which sees abundance, connection, and love. Jevon Perra stated that one cannot hold both visions simultaneously and that giving up the "games" of separation is necessary to see the wholeness that is already present. Denise Darlene emphasized that the difficult work of letting go of these egoic games is the difference between awakening and staying asleep, which involves the critical step of disciplining the mind to replace lies with truth. The Journey of Awakening and the "Happier Dream": Jevon Perra questioned the duration required for awareness, referencing a quote from I Am That that enlightenment could be instant upon belief. Denise Darlene shared their current status as having achieved a "happier dream" but not yet fully embodying the truth, acknowledging that they are closer than ever. Denise Darlene cautioned against the "holy instant system" without prior ego dismantling, noting that their son's experience of God's presence resulted in a painful psychosis upon returning to the body, necessitating a subsequent learning path.Experiences as Lessons and the Use of Medicine Journeys: The group discussed the idea that experiences labeled as "bad" are often lessons chosen by a greater part of the self. Jevon Perra expanded this to include anything that is resisted, including medicine journeys if used as escapism. Denise Darlene noted that their experience with medicine journeys has been for self-discovery—revealing subconscious beliefs and traumas—not for escape, and that post-journey work is still required for change. Soo Kim acknowledged that while medicine is intended for this deep work, some people use it to reinforce delusions or escape pain.Reincarnation and the Goal of the Course in Miracles: Denise Darlene inquired if the Course in Miracles discusses reincarnation, to which Jevon Perra replied that its premise is to "save time," implying the avoidance of doing the cycle of life again and again. The discussion touched upon the concept of the individual spirit returning to God like a wave merging back into the ocean, challenging the notion of maintaining individuality after death. Soo Kim noted that the concept of reincarnation is sometimes twisted in cultures like India to justify judgment or social hierarchy, calling others "stupid" due to perceived past lives. The Afterlife and Frequency of Vibration: The conversation turned to the nature of individuality after death and the "great reset button" that death provides. Jevon Perra recommended the near-death experience book Backwards by Nancy Danison, explaining that the afterlife location is determined by one's current vibrational frequency and that the choice to hold onto a low frequency can result in hellish experiences. Jevon Perra explained that one's body is a filter that lowers frequency, and after death, the frequency raises, allowing for experiences of what is called heaven, though perception can still be filtered by egoic beliefs. Conclusion on Gentleness and Non-Judgment: Denise Darlene reiterated a key takeaway from the reading: "harm is the outcome of judgment," meaning that taking offense stems from a judgment of the situation, not the neutral facts of what happened. The solution involves replacing judgment with compassion, seeing others' challenging behavior as the limited maturity of a wounded child. Jevon Perra shared a practical application of this, noting that viewing their mother as an "insane" or "crazy lady" they could help, rather than as an entitled person taking advantage of them, made the interaction bearable.Reflecting on Kindness and Empathy: Jevon Perra shared a story from their childhood about an accidental encounter at Disneyland where an adult's anger instantly turned to empathy and service upon seeing them in a wheelchair, illustrating how perception immediately shifts based on the recognized state of the other. The group affirmed the power of recognizing that others are often in a "mental wheelchair".Final Thoughts and Self-Inquiry: Denise Darlene concluded with the initial affirmation that when not experiencing peace, they are experiencing the effects of a lie, encouraging self-inquiry to discover the underlying lie or judgment. Soo Kim asked if their previous challenge to Brian Genovese about "self-truth" was a violation of gentleness, but Brian Genovese clarified that it was helpful for clarification and not perceived as judgmental. Jevon Perra ended the session by stating that they are always revealing their judgments or their love and acceptance.

I. Introduction Welcome to the Victory Church podcast and Sunday worship gathering. Victory's mission: reaching the lost, restoring the broken, reviving believers. Joy and gratitude for being in God's house where worship, prayer, the Word, and fellowship occur. Emphasis that God's grace enabled people to be present, overcoming hindrances. II. The Nature and Purpose of Prayer Prayer and the Word as central priorities at Victory Church. Biblical commands to pray: “men ought always to pray,” “pray without ceasing,” “watch and pray,” “continue earnestly in prayer.” Clarification: prayer is not a religious ritual but a relational conversation with a loving Father. Prayer as sharing cares, dreams, concerns with God; Scripture as God sharing His thoughts and heart with us. III. Reactive vs. Proactive Prayer A. Reactive Prayer Definition: responding to events, crises, and immediate needs after they happen. Typical reactive requests: jobs, finances, housing, healing, family and school pressures. Affirmation: these needs matter to God; believers should cast all cares on Him. Problem: if this is the only kind of praying, discipleship and prayer life are out of alignment with God's best. B. Proactive Prayer Definition: creating or shaping situations by praying God's will in advance, not only reacting. Example from the Lord's Prayer: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” as a proactive request. Goal: move believers beyond crisis-only praying into kingdom-focused, forward-looking prayer. IV. Acts 4 as a Model of Prayer A. Context of Acts 4 Acts as early church history, showing the Spirit-empowered beginnings of the church. Peter and John preaching, healing a crippled man, and provoking opposition from religious leaders. Authorities command them not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. Connection to today: pressure in culture to silence biblical truth and the name of Jesus. B. The Disciples' Response They return “to their own” (the church, fellow believers) when threatened. Principle: where you turn in crisis reveals much about your heart. They share the report as a prayer request and turn immediately to corporate prayer. They pray in alignment with Scripture (Psalm 2) and God's will, not just emotions. C. Content of Their Prayer (Acts 4:24–31) Acknowledge God as Creator and Sovereign Lord over heaven and earth. Rehearse Scripture about nations raging and rulers opposing the Lord and His Christ. Interpret persecution as part of God's sovereign purpose in Christ's suffering. Reactive element: “Lord, look on their threats.” Proactive element: ask for boldness to speak the Word, and for God's hand to heal with signs and wonders in Jesus' name. Result: the place is shaken, all are filled with the Holy Spirit, and they speak God's Word with boldness. V. Praying with the Word and God's Will Call to pray not only from need or emotion but aligned with Scripture. Examples of praying Scripture over needs (provision, healing, emotional and spiritual needs, relationships). Recognition that God's will includes timing; believers must be sensitive and obedient. Emphasis: there is power when prayer and the Word are joined. VI. From Problem to Launching Pad Observation: in Acts 4, the crisis launches the church into deeper proactive prayer, not retreat. Instead of praying primarily for safety and comfort, they pray for greater boldness and impact. Application: believers today should ask God to use trials to produce testimony, messages, and greater influence for His glory. VII. Call to a Proactive Kingdom Focus A. For Truth and Witness in a Confused Culture Culture tolerates generic “god talk” but reacts strongly to the exclusive claims of Jesus. Expect opposition when living and speaking biblical truth, without being obnoxious or hypocritical. The church must stand firm on Scripture, not be shaped by social media or worldly opinions. B. For Local and Global Mission Victory Church's call: reach Providence and the nations through evangelism and missions. Example: missions trips (Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia) and conferences to strengthen pastors and churches. Appeal for proactive prayer for missions: bold preaching, anointing, signs and wonders, and lasting fruit. C. For Revival and Awakening Distinction: revival for the church (bringing believers back to life), awakening for the lost. Invitation to pray for souls, discipleship, anointing, revival in churches, and awakening in the nation. Desire to create cultures of discipleship, evangelism, missions, and deep engagement with Scripture. VIII. Illustrations of Proactive Prayer in History and Life Personal testimony: long season in temporary housing, choosing contentment and kingdom focus while trusting God's timing. Application of Matthew 6:33: prioritizing God's kingdom and righteousness, trusting Him to add needed things. Biblical example: Job praying for his friends and receiving double restoration. Historical examples: John Knox's burden “give me Scotland or I die” and its influence. David Brainerd's fervent prayer for Native Americans and resulting impact. William Tyndale's martyrdom for translating Scripture and the later spread of English Bibles. The Moravians' 100-year prayer meeting and remarkable missionary sending. IX. Practical Application and Invitation Challenge: move beyond “needs-only” praying to kingdom-centered, proactive prayer. Specific areas to pray proactively: personal walk, church, ministries, missions, national awakening, and social issues. Encouragement to stay for times of corporate prayer, lifting up pastors, leaders, and global work. Final appeal: cultivate a passion that cries, “Lord, give us souls, give us revival, use my life and this church for Your glory.”

Send me a text!Length: 56 minutesSynopsis: This morning (2/13/26), in our Friday morning Sefer Iyov series for women, I had planned to continue our analysis of the Rambam's view of angels. Instead, we did something more important: review and clarification! We did a complete review of all the main points from last time, and raised additional questions which resulted in greater clarity. Given my preface of this shiur, which underscored the importance of taking it slow and in small doses when learning metaphysics, I'm happy with how our shiur turned out. Next time, we will NOT begin with a comprehensive review, so if you plan on joining us, make sure you're caught up!-----מקורות:זרחיה בן שאלתיאל חן - משלי כה:טז-יזרמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות יסודי התורה ז:א,ורמב"ם - מורה הנבוכים ב:ו-----The Torah content for the month of February is sponsored by the Koffsky family in memory of Adira Rose Koffsky a”h, whose third yahrzeit is on the 11th of Shvat. Welcome to The DMF — Discovering Meaning in Film and Acting. I'm Justin Younts, and in this episode we explore the evolving landscape of women in film — particularly in non-traditional and physically demanding roles — with filmmaker Jaze Bordeaux. In our conversation, Jaze shares his journey championing stories centered around women in combat sports and mixed martial arts — a concept that, when first pitched in 2016, was met with skepticism from distributors and industry decision-makers. At the time, many questioned whether audiences would support films featuring women in these kinds of physically intense, traditionally male-dominated roles.Despite the resistance, Jaze believed in the cultural and cinematic potential of these narratives and continued pushing forward. Today, the industry has shifted dramatically, with a growing wave of films highlighting women in combat sports and other unconventional spaces. We discuss:Women in non-traditional film rolesMixed martial arts films and combat sports cinemaIndustry skepticism vs audience demandProducing female-driven sports storiesIndependent film challenges during the pandemicFilm festival recognition and awards circuitsJaze also reflects on the success of his projects, which have earned over 30 awards — including honors at the prestigious Palladino D'Oro International Sports Film Festival. While accolades were never the goal, they stand as validation of the passion and perseverance behind these films. We also touch on the broader momentum building around stories like Queen of the Ring and Halle Berry's MMA-focused work, signaling a larger industry shift toward inclusive, boundary-breaking storytelling.Whether you're an actor, filmmaker, or film enthusiast, this episode highlights how persistence, vision, and advocacy can reshape what kinds of stories get told — and who gets to lead them.Join us as we explore the rise of women in combat sports cinema and the future of non-traditional roles in film.Check out these links:http://jazebordeaux.com/https://www.facebook.com/jazebordeaux/https://www.instagram.com/jazebordeaux/https://www.threads.net/@jazebordeauxhttps://www.tiktok.com/@jazebordeauxhttps://x.com/jazebordeaux00:00:00 - Introduction00:00:05 - Advocacy for Women in Non-traditional Roles00:00:44 - Initial Resistance to Women's Mixed Martial Arts00:01:50 - Market Reception and Success of Women's Mixed Martial Arts00:04:20 - Accolades and Awards for the Film00:07:40 - Experience at the Palladino Doro International Sports Film Festival00:13:09 - Discussion on Short Film 'Starry Eyed'00:15:08 - Character Development and Casting Decisions00:16:32 - Involvement of Film School Graduates00:17:35 - The Evolution of Storytelling and Directing00:18:42 - Supporting Other Filmmakers and Directors00:19:55 - Introduction to 'Let Go'00:24:52 - Success of 'EFC' and Future Projects00:26:06 - Introduction to 'Genesis'00:26:13 - The Concept and Evolution of 'Genesis'00:30:25 - Clarification on 'The Arrival' Reference00:31:09 - Vision for 'Genesis'00:31:17 - The Timelessness of 'Genesis'00:32:17 - Advice for Storytelling00:32:31 - Closing Remarks

Emotional Support Animals are bullsh*t. I said it. If you're feeling a certain way about what I've just said - defensive, perhaps - this episode is definitely for you. This is about emotional self-regulation, about how animals can and do serve the purpose of supporting us emotionally, but not by slapping a vest on them so that we can justify taking them places.CLARIFICATION - this is NOT about legitimate Service Animals - animals defined by the Americans with Disability Act as being trained to execute a specific and defined task for its handler that is life supporting/necessary. So the point - the fact that when I am being the leader my dogs need - in that process I take care of their needs and in so doing, I feel better. So they support me, but only by my supporting them first.Kind of like the world around me. When I make it so that other people's behavior or the circumstances of my life need to be a certain way in order for me to be okay, I'm set up for failure. The truth is that I get to regulate myself. My internal circumstances ARE the solution. In a world where what passes for radical honesty usually means someone is just letting things fly outta their pie-hole without much care for others, it's time for radically authentic conversation. Conscious communication is simple, but often isn't easy. That's why Cathy Brooks created Talk, Unleashed – a weekly podcast of radically honest conversation about — everything. Whether her own musings or in conversation with industry leaders, each episode invites curiosity. Curiosity not about what people do, but why they do it. Who they are and what makes them tick. It's about digging underneath to reveal the thing that is most true - that we are more alike than we are not. A mix of solo episodes where Cathy shares her insights and experience or Cathy engaged in conversation with fascinating humans doing amazing things. No matter the format - it's unvarnished, radically honest and entirely unleashed. This podcast compliments Unleashed Leadership, the coaching business through which Cathy works with symphony orchestras, corporate clients, and individuals to help them unleash and untether their leadership and connect with others in a way that truly engages.#emotionalsupportanimal #ServiceDogs #emotionalregulation #responsibility #accountability #leadership #dogbehavior #baddogbehavior #dogtraining #shiftingbehavior #brutalhonesty #radicalhonesty #consciouscommunication #leadership #Conversation #connection #TalkUnleashed #fiercecompassion #UnleashedConversation #UnleashedLeadership #FixYourEndofTheLeash

Opening prayer and transition Prayer for healing of minds, emotions, and bodies in Jesus' name. Blessing over the people and light-hearted comment about “sinners/singers” saved by grace. Transition to the morning teaching and reference to the notes on fasting and prayer. Purpose of the teaching Many new people in the church do not fully understand prayer and fasting. Long-time members also need renewed direction, inspiration, and encouragement from Scripture for an effective and profitable fast. Pastor's personal struggle with coughing and mic; testimony of praying over the upcoming fast and the church. Realization: the Lord, as the Good Shepherd, cares more about the people and their fasting than the pastor does. Emphasis that believers must hear the Shepherd's voice; call to open hearts and spirits to the Word and notes. What fasting is (definition and biblical basis) Fasting described as a spiritual discipline taught in the Bible, not an afterthought or optional for Christians. Reference to Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7) and the three practices: praying, giving, fasting (“when you pray… when you give… when you fast,” not “if”). Reading/summary of Matthew 6:16–18: Do not fast to impress others; keep normal appearance; the Father sees in secret and rewards openly. Clarification: corporate fast cannot be fully secret, but the heart motive still must be God-centered, not people-centered. Cultural critique: problem of overeating and food addictions; fasting is needed, not optional. Why fast? Main reasons 1. Health and personal reset Fasting brings health benefits; warning about “digging graves with forks and spoons.” Pastor's personal testimony: fasting at the beginning of the year as a “reset” that affects months afterward and increases awareness of what is eaten. 2. Fasting gives more time for prayer Time normally used for preparing, eating, and cleaning up can be redirected to prayer. Acknowledgment of family responsibilities; encouragement to use available time for prayer. Biblical link between fasting and prayer: example from Acts 13 (worshiping, fasting, Holy Spirit speaks, Paul/Barnabas set apart). Explanation of the church's prayer schedule for the fasting week (Monday–Friday, 6:30–8:30 with personal prayer, worship, exhortation, and corporate prayer each night, plus guest ministers and special focuses). 3. Fasting shows the depth of desire in prayer Fasting demonstrates how serious and desperate a person is about a prayer need. Challenge to those struggling with addictions, family issues, or sin to get desperate enough to say no to food. Story of a former pastor who listed God's blessings and then asked, “What are you willing to do?” Scriptural support from Joel: Call a holy fast, sacred assembly; return to God with all the heart, with fasting and weeping. Teaching that fasting “turbocharges” prayer and reaches the core of one's being. 4. Fasting releases God's supernatural power Observation of revival signs: increased Bible sales, campus awakenings, baptisms, and renewed spirituality. Note that whenever God moves, the devil attacks (division, discouragement, defeat, depression, doubt). Emphasis that united prayer and fasting delivers decisive blows to the enemy. Scriptural examples: Ezra 8:23 (“we fasted and prayed… and he answered”). Isaiah 58:6 (fasting that loosens chains of injustice, breaks yokes, sets oppressed free). Testimony of church growth attributed to prayer and fasting (services, groups, leaders, missions). Warning: forward movement invites spiritual resistance, requiring vigilance and continued fasting. Importance of fasting in Scripture (examples) Often precedes major victories, miracles, and answered prayers. Examples listed: Moses fasting before receiving the Ten Commandments. Israelites fasting before miraculous victory. Daniel fasting for guidance and understanding God's plan (reading Jeremiah, receiving revelation). Personal example: pastor fasting over whom to marry and other major decisions (work, place to live, business partnerships, missions trips). Nehemiah fasting and praying before rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, completing a century-old problem in 52 days. Jesus fasting 40 days before public ministry and during temptation in the wilderness. First Christians fasting during key decision-making (Acts 13, etc.). Application: fast over important life decisions; don't rely on human wisdom alone. Precautions and heart posture in fasting Fasting is not: Earning answers or manipulating God. A hunger strike against God. Fasting is: Aligning with God's will and opening space for what God already desires to do. Health cautions: Fast only as health allows; consider partial fasts if on medication, etc. Warning against “sneaky” or superficial consecrations (e.g., trivial fasting windows that cost nothing). Encouragement to make fasting truly sacrificial and appropriate to one's work and physical capacity. Practical guidance: types and structure of fasting Types of fasts mentioned: Water fast (all food and juices abstained from; not recommended for everyone for five days). Partial fast (eliminating certain foods or meals). Juice fast (fruit or vegetable juices only). Counsel on nutrition and physical activity: Ensure nutrients; limit strenuous exercise; do not let exercise become an excuse to skip prayer/fasting. Guidance on breaking the fast: Avoid heavy foods immediately (e.g., burritos, large meals); ease back into eating with lighter foods like fruit. Corporate fasting and commitment Corporate fast provides structure, accountability, and mutual encouragement. Testimony of previous years: New believers and first-time fasters completing five days. Past 21-day fast (juice/soup only) and challenges met by the congregation. Value of structure: same as work or school schedules; helps people follow through. Mention of attendance statistics from previous years and desire to see increased participation (with the reminder that numbers represent people, not pride). Fasting as assumed biblical practice Jesus says “when you fast,” implying fasting is assumed for Christians. Note of a resurgence of fasting teaching in recent decades, including influence from African and global churches. Observation: when God prepares to move, he stirs people to prayer and fasting. Biblical reasons people fasted (summary list) Facing a crisis. Seeking God's protection and deliverance. Called to repentance and renewal. Asking God for guidance. Humbling themselves in worship. Dangers in the discipline Risk of empty ritual or fasting without meaning. Encouragement to start fasting and seek right motives as you go. Repeated call to hear the Good Shepherd's voice and recognize that God wants to speak, guide, and bless more than people often realize. Fasting as feasting on Jesus John Wesley quote: fasting must be done unto the Lord, with the eye singly fixed on Him, to glorify the Father. Story of an Indian orphanage that fasts every Friday and calls it “feasting on Jesus,” praying specifically for the American church. Call to fast and leadership responsibility Fasting starts with spiritual leaders and elders; leaders must model what they preach. Fasting often arises from spiritual desperation and urgency: “turn to me now while there is time.” Warning about increasing end-time deception; need for discernment and closeness to God. Fasting and inner focus Fasting is more about focus than food; more about saying yes to the Spirit than no to the body. It is an outward response to an inward cry, an expression of brokenness and need. Calls to return to God with the heart, not just external religious acts (rending hearts, not garments). Fasting as response of a broken heart; God is drawn to the weak, broken, needy. Immense responsibility and mission Believers carry the immense responsibility to be salt and light, preaching the gospel to a lost world. Fasting is a humble response to this responsibility, seeking God's help and power to fulfill the mission. Closing exhortation and prayer Pastor expresses desire to communicate God's heart and encourage participation in the fast. Emphasis that God wants to speak and move, and fasting clears space in the heart. Call to fresh consecration and commitment for individuals and families. Prayer that God will bless and strengthen everyone who takes part, and closing invitation to join nightly prayer during the fasting week.

There was two parts of the digital revolution that changed the business. One was print on demand publishing where you didn't have to do big print runs to get the cost down. So my first book, you know, first run was 2,500 books. Second run was another 2,500 books. It was called the second printing. The joke is, yeah, my book went to two printings because the first one was blurred, but no. So you would earn extra printings. Henry DeVries [00:00:24]: But with print on demand it's just, just as economical to print one book as the unit price. On the 2500 books. I'm so excited to talk about the virtues of a book marketing with a book that you're proud of. James Kademan [00:01:26]: I love it. I love it. You know, you raise an interesting point here. I just want to give you a really quick anecdote before we run down the road of marketing with your book. I was given a book by someone that they were hustling as something I suppose like a business card. Probably what we'll mention. Henry DeVries [00:01:43]: Sure. James Kademan [00:01:43]: And I had started reading it and it was, it was bad. It was really bad. It's not to say the content itself was bad. I felt like it was very poorly written and not edited at all. So I saw this guy later at a different networking function. I'm like, hey man, your book was interesting. Who did you use for an editor? And he's like, oh yeah, I edit it myself. I don't need to pay someone to edit it. James Kademan [00:02:08]: And I was like, oh, okay, great. Fantastic. Way to go. You can totally tell I didn't say that. Henry DeVries [00:02:15]: James, we have a saying. The world does not need another crappy self published book. James Kademan [00:02:21]: Oh, I love that saying. That's perfect. That's perfect. So let's start with what you got going on, Henry. How long have you been in the book marketing world? Henry DeVries [00:02:32]: Indie Books International. We started on April 1, 2014. I'd been a ghost writer for books for years before that. So officially 11 years publishing over 200 books in that time. James Kademan [00:02:48]: All right, well, that's a fair number that is Any specific genre. Henry DeVries [00:02:55]: Yes. Well, business books. So according to Barnes and noble, there are 16 subcategories of books. And then since we're nonfiction, some of our books fall under self help, or they'll fall under whatever industry the person is in. So it. It. But it tends to be these nonfiction books to help business people find right fit prospects. James Kademan [00:03:19]: Right on. You know, it's interesting you say that. I, I assume as you know, I wrote and published a book, and it was interesting because I use it essentially as a business card. But I had somebody ask me if I ever made money from the book, and I was like, no, no, I would love to be Stephen King or something like that. Where you're making thousands of dollars every month off your book and to not have to fight to find a publisher, that was not the case. So in that non fiction realm, I guess I'm saying that to say I feel like in the non fiction realm, that's more of the case rather than the fiction realm. I don't. Correct me if I'm wrong here. Henry DeVries [00:04:01]: Well, in the nonfiction realm, it's all about marketing with a book. I didn't write the book marketing a book. I did it marketing with a book, meaning it's what happens as a result of the book. And our authors have found they've gotten returns of 400 to 2000% ROI by marketing with a book and a speech. We like to say publishing the book is the starting line. The book is your ticket to ride. It's your ticket to get into the game. James Kademan [00:04:32]: I love. Okay, so essentially what you're saying is the book is a marketing tool. You're not marketing the book, you're marketing with a book. Okay, that's way better. Clarification. Henry DeVries [00:04:42]: One of my authors made a million dollars, and he didn't even care how many books he sold, but he gave away hundreds and hundreds of books. And. And that resulted in clients. Five figure clients. And that he says it adds up to over a million dollars that he got as a result of being the author of that book over and above what he would have made. James Kademan [00:05:07]: I love it. All right, so let's dig into why someone would want to market with a book rather than throwing ads on the Internet or a big billboard or cold calling or something of that nature. Henry DeVries [00:05:18]: Well, because you want to be seen as the authority in your Space for a certain group of people who have a certain problem. You're the authority and you can't spell authority without the word author. So authors are respected because of the research they've done, the people they've talked to and the results that they share. And then that attracts people especially right fit prospects to them. And they're not chasing the prospects. It's like a magnet that's attracting the prospects to them. James Kademan [00:05:51]: I love it. You mentioned self publishing. Is that typically where you're steering people to or what you're steering people to do? Henry DeVries [00:05:59]: Oh no, we call it self publishing, the S word. Even if you do it, don't ever say your book was self published because that has a stigma to it. It's like what crazy old grandpas do? You indie publish your book. You might cobble together a team to help you indie publish the book. The person in your example, he missed a big player at it. An editor. And there's different types of editors. I'm a developmental editor. Henry DeVries [00:06:26]: I help people develop a manuscript, an idea how it would play in the marketplace, how to bake marketing into it. But you also need line editors, people who make sure that you don't use the wrong word or the styles right, or a typo. James, I'll tell you, you triggered my all time worst story of somebody who came up to me, was so proud of their book and he handed me his book and he said, what do you think? And on the COVID it said forward F O R W A R D by this name. Well, it's actually F O R E. W O R D is a forward, a word that comes first in a book. So he had this major glaring typo on the COVID of his book. James Kademan [00:07:16]: Oh no. Henry DeVries [00:07:17]: And he said, well, what do you think? I said, well, I've got to point out you have this glaring typo on the COVID of your book. Oh, oh, I printed 5,000 copies. What should I do? And I said Fahrenheit 451. If you know science fiction and Ray Bradbury, that's the temperature books burn at. Fahrenheit 451. Famous science fiction book. So I was telling him to burn 5,000 books, which he did. Because I said I don't even want you to give these away or donate them to some thrift store because every time somebody sees your name and this book and that typo, it's bringing you down in the market. Henry DeVries [00:08:03]: The same thing with a crappy self published book where they said, oh, you know, I can do it cheap. I said, okay, well, let's say you have a big speech and people have paid you $5,000 to come speak to them, and you got to wear something. Are you going to go to Goodwill and see if somebody donated something good that week? Or, you know, maybe there's an Armani suit there,

Texas has clarified that, under the state's amended “mini-TCPA,” businesses that send marketing texts with prior consumer consent will generally not be required to register as telephone solicitors or post a bond — a potentially major relief for marketers using SMS campaigns. The episode breaks down how S.B. 140 expanded Texas's telemarketing law to cover texts and what the recent court settlement means for consent-based SMS marketing, while highlighting the compliance steps still needed for issues like quiet hours, no-call lists, and recordkeeping. Hosted by Simone Roach. Based on a blog post by Alysa Z. Hutnik and Jennifer Rodden Wainwright.
"Your desire is an acorn with success built into it." What if the universe wasn't something to command, but something to collaborate with, a living intelligence responding not to your wishes, but to your being? In this SoulTalk episode, I sit down with world-renowned intuitive, bestselling author, and spiritual teacher Colette Baron-Reid once again to reveal the deeper, often misunderstood art of manifesting, not as a formula, but as a spiritual practice. Together we journey into what Colette calls the sacred partnership, a dynamic relationship between your inner state and the quantum field. She shares vulnerable, soul-stirring stories from her own life: getting sober with nothing to her name, receiving unexpected miracles when she finally let go, and the painful collapse of her music dreams that revealed a deeper destiny. Colette explains why manifestation fails when we chase outcomes from fear, and why it opens when we align with who we are becoming. Why the universe isn't interested in our ego's timeline. Why forcing pushes blessings away. And why surrender is not passive, it is the most powerful action of all. Colette reveals her signature practice, the Circle Method, a deceptively simple yet profound drawing ritual that rewires the brain, shifts the nervous system, and activates synchronicity. Listen to this episode and learn how to manifest not by gripping tighter, but by partnering with the intelligence that already knows the path to your highest good.
