Part 3, and the top 3 teams! One of the closest seasons for a long long time. We discuss Ferrari, Red Bull and Merc, did they get what they deserved and what was sacrificed for the push to the line?
Onwards and upwards, in this the second part of the end of year review we cover off the midfield finishers and where it all went right or it all went wrong for Alpha T, Alpine and McLaren. Join us in part three for the top teams of this season.
Join all 4 of us as we start at the back of the Constructors Championship and work our way forward, discussing the teams and their respective performance, drivers and potential outcomes for the reinvention of Formula 1 as we know it. Part 1 of 3
Join us as we discuss the final race of the season with everything on the line. In typical F1 Fashion the race has finished in controversy and shows F1 to be an utter embarrassment when the FIA don't adhere to their own rules. Over the season has the correct driver/ constructor won't the respective titles? Listen in and decide for yourself. An outstanding lap by Max to get one hand on the trophy, however the fly in the ointment for Max is the tyre choice. After a mistake in Q2 and flat spotting what would have been his starting tyres RB decided to put Max out on softs meaning he has to start the race on them potentially giving Merc and Lewis what could be an advantage in the race! With Bottas 6th maybe a blocker at some point, Perez 4th also on softs and Lando Norris back on form in 3rd we have no idea how its going to play out! You NEED to watch the race!!!! 21 races and all square on points for Max and Lewis, we come to a re-profiled track that should play in to the hands of Merc but going by the season so far we cannot really pick one over the other. With such animosity between the two teams and drivers this race is only about one thing Lewis vs Max and the constructors is secondary. Hamilton needs to win or finish ahead of Max its that simple! he can not have an incident and then rely on a stewards decision, nobody wants that! Qualifying will be pivotal and the Decider/Dual in the desert will follow. Utter madness a race filled with a years worth of drama and incidents, Mike Massy turning it in to a game show and one that you will say ten years from now "remember that first race in Saudi!" never seen such mayhem! Warnings tonight episode is explicit! one of the worst in that regards agin fuelled by decisions by the FIA representatives as well as what happened on track! join us as we try to make sense of it but to be honest we are still struggling with it. In a sport that needs consistency and clear definition of rules and regulations we had zero of that tonight! making the sport look ridiculous to the outside observer. However it finished we still don't have a championship winner in either driver or constructors, we go to the last race of the season so it won't be short of drama! but we did come away from a dangerous track with no major injuries to any of the F1/F2 drivers so we will take that as a win. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
This track is unforgiving, this was no more starkly shown with the buildup to qualifying in the free practice sessions but also in qualifying! Max and Lewis pushing to the limit and beyond, what could have been potentially a championship winning qualifying run slipped away with the smallest of mistakes but how will it impact tomorrows race? we will wait and see. Strategy, safety cars blue flags will all play a part tomorrow, now ANY mistake will end your hopes of championships. Do not miss the race tomorrow 5:30pm lights out. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Well with two races to go everything is still up for grabs, however it also means that any slip-ups could be fatal! We arrive at what is one of the fastest and prob least forgiving tracks (think Monaco/Suzuka combined) with 3 DRS zones and high kerbs, we are expecting flags! lots and lots of flags! so it could be a DNF, a well timed pit call, an incident with a back marker (blind bends galore) we will wait and see but qualifying will be critical. Ferrari vs Mclaren will rumble on but really unless Ferrari REALLY screw up 3rd is in the bag! we can only hope it also goes to the last race. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
20 down 2 to go and only 8 points in it! The season has been ok but has lacked wheel to wheel racing apart from realistically 2 races Portugal & Brazil, Monza & Silverstone don't count! but now we are at a point that the smallest mistake will kill your championship challenge( puncture, stuck wheel nut, coming together with Max etc.) so this does add drama that the races don't. Ferrari Vs Mclaren is a done deal game over for the battle for 3rd and out with the championships top 2 it's when can we get on to next years cars and the revolution we have been promised/ hope for. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
After what seems like an age since Brazil cos of all the droning on and on and on about that incident and rear wings we just want a race. After qualifying we are hoping for a clean race barring anymore disqualifications, with only 14 points in the championship it's all to play for. Consistency from FIA/Stewards is a must and if so bring on good hard racing (means we can't hear complaints from RB or Merc as they have brought this on themselves) we will see as we expect something to happen tomorrow as it just seems inevitable. As Merc and Red Bull use court room legal teams to fight for or not for a penalty after brazils race we discuss that incident, hard racing can it work in the sport and how teams would like it when they are on the receiving end of hard racing. The FIA need to step up to deal with this before all we wind up talking about are appeals and penalty's. We also talk about the weekend ahead and Qatar hosting its first of many races. Ferrari vs Mclaren and will it be too little too late for Mclaren? Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
With disqualification and engine penalties Lewis surely couldn't win this race from 10th on the grid could he? It's only taken 19 races but finally a race we can say was exciting from lights out to chequered flag, A defining moment in the championship? Possibly! Drama? of course! one of the races that needs to be watched. (We await the footage from Max's car on the incident BTW!) Max still has the lead in the championship but were now looking to 3 races to go and only a 14 point gap.... that nothing and the next three tracks will maybe favour Merc that weeeee bit better than Red Bull ad in that Lewis has 2 fresh-ish engines vs Max with just one for the run in. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Flap Fiddling, and wing deflection drama, Hamilton disqualified from qualifying but a stunning drive through the sprint race as he destroyed the field at least give him a chance in the championship. What on Friday looked like Merc domination has turned a bit sour but its still in their own hands. Talking of hands, Max getting a rather hefty fine for touching the Merc in parc ferme conditions but small change to him and or the team really. The race tomorrow is poised to be a great race lots of laps and a great DRS zone in to turn one will hopefully keep us all enthralled. However expect more drama as sprint weekends normally have something in the race (Silverstone, Monza) Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Welcome back to Brazil and our third and final sprint weekend to try and mix up the grid (which it does not! take note F1) we cover the times and weather for the weekend and ask if Merc made a fatal mistake by not bringing in Russell for the 2021 season? It's looking very much the case and another damage limitation weekend is on the cards. With Brazil's 700m altitude still playing a part we will really be looking to the last 3 races in the Middle East for Merc to turn the tide in what is looking very much like a Red Bull season. Ferrari and McLaren will continue to fight it out for 3rd in the constructors, Mclaren need to stop the rot other wise they will be looking at 4th and missing out on millions in prize money! Ferrari are bigging up Mclaren but i bet they feel comfortably the stronger of the two teams going on the pace of the last 3 races. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Join us to discuss and hear our thought on what was not a good race as a fan to watch, some would say terrible like wise we don't miss them on this one. we will be so happy to see the back of these cars and welcome the 2022 cars like the long lost son we hope they will be (so many things crossed!) Another race down just 4 to go... did Max put a final nail in the coffin of Hamiltons season? Everything is still in their own hands as we move on to Brazil. Ferrari coming on strong for 3rd while Mclaren have totally lost their way. All we got today was back markers squabbling and DRS being the only thing that can allow an overtake to take place, dire, terrible, pathetic, a waste of time is the sad reality of todays race. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Mexico is jumping with Perez fever, home support driving the Red Bull driver to what has been is strongest weekend of the season until Qualifying. Merc are keeping close watch but didn't appear to have the outright pace to take the fight to Red Bull or so we thought but Q3 so we expected damage limitation from them. The hope was that RB would slip up! Which they appear to have done letting Merc secure a front row lockout however with the long straight can RB fix the poor qualifying come the race. Ferrari looking strong again this weekend with McLaren still struggling with performance for a third race weekend on the trot and nNorris having to come from the back, not great for the battle with Ferrari and that 3rd place spot in the constructors. Rest of the field is a mixed bag with some great qualifying performances from Gasly again, Sainz and Riccardo and a host of engine penalties for others giving what should be some fast starters from the back of the grid(expect carnage) Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
With only 5 races to go, any mistakes now could end someones title hopes real quick with now only 133 points available ( 5 wins 5 fastest laps and 3 for winning the sprint in Brazil) Only 12 points separated Max and Lewis but as we arrive at the start of a triple header. Mexico and altitude means that Merc are not looking at this as anything other than damage limitation, however the unknown is how will the all new Honda power unit fair? will the be dominant this weekend? Third place in the constructors is now down to just 3.5 points in favour of McLaren who after Russia have let things slip will they also suffer for having a Merc power unit in the back of the car? Will this season be remembered for a Red Bull championship win based on how good they have been or on the hastily put together aero rules that the FIA and Liberty Media pushed out at the start of the season? Discuss. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
USA USA USA a race that turned out to come alive in the last 15 was all about strategy this one with so few races to go every single point now counts fastest lap. A stunning championship contender elect performance from Max with Hamilton hunting him down in the latter half worth a view but still we ask is this the best season ever? We can't disagree that the last few races may be in that category! the edge being ANY mistakes are going to be critical. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
With what looks like the perfect starting grid for chaos in to turn 1 we just hope for a race that is decided on track and not by the stewards or worse the whole race stolen from us due to Max and Lewis just taking each other out like Monza! Perez and especially Bottas are going to have to pull their weight in this fight more so now than ever before. Mclaren and Ferarri will be watching the top 3, hoping for carnage with only 7 points the gap in the constructors championship. With the two Ferarris out qualifying both Mclarens Norris and Danny have their work cut out for them. Engine penalties up and down the grid so Bottas, Vettel, Alonso and Russell all dropping from their qualifying positions. Add in high track temps and an abrasive and bumpy track our fingers are crossed for a god race! Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
With Just 6 Races to go in this season that's been pretty good as we have an actual battle for the respective championships we return to Austin, Texas for fingers crossed a straight fight with Max and Lewis (no engine pens, no torrential rain and the like). At this point we are now in a DNF will be devastating to a title challenge, reliability, wingmen and even the intervention from a Norris or a Leclerc are all possible banana skins for Max and Lewis. With this weekend coverage being quite a few hours behind our podcast will be recorded and published after Qualy 10-11pm so available about midnight /1am and the race (8pm-10pm) result show late Sunday night afterwards. Well it was like a lovely Scottish summer day in Turkey with this one GRAY MISERABLE and WET! If we had gotten a proper drying line maybe just maybe this damp fire work would have burst in to life but alas it was not to be! Instead we got a grind of a race with very little in the way of options for strategy from the teams, Sainz moving through the field as he should along with the focus squarely on Hamiltons progress left us with one to forget, watch the 5 min Youtube highlights and spend the time you have saved on something productive!! With swings in the drivers and constructors championships the only saving grace is that it's still very tight in both of them, 156 still up for grabs so its a long way from over. Roll on USA in two weeks for we hope a great race. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
With engine penalties for a few of the drivers it was damage limitation for Hamilton on what has not been the easiest track for the drivers! Still memories of the ice rink that the track was last year, with no support races this weekend the track is still GREEN but improving Hamilton breaking the track record even in the not great conditions. Hamilton will still have his work cut out for him tomorrow but this track does allow overtaking and a podium has to be the target, mean while Max can reclaim the top of the table if he can have a trouble free race but with a 40% chance of rain its not an open goal. Mclaren and Ferrari resume their battle for third with a swing back in Ferrari's direction with Leclerc in 3rd on the grid, Norris 7th. Alonso and Gasly in the mix a good top 10 that will hopefully give a good race, riccardo and Sainz also driving for points from well outside the top ten. Back at Istanbul Park! Again i'm sure a welcome return for the fans! Last year it was cold wet and slippery as hell, this year after a good old scrub we hope for a track that will rubber in and give us a great race.FP1 and FP2 we have seen the track rubbering in but still slippery off line making for challenging conditions. Penalties for engines seem to be dominating the new Hamilton 10 place Sainz 120place Aston Martin 1000000 place penalty for new engines and additional components. Is the penalty system fit for the purpose it's intended? Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
The Bernie Effect, a long time ago a man once said that we need sprinklers to pop out of the track to help make the racing more exciting !! How right he was! A wee bit of rain to level the playing field, the best of the best step up and we see what the top 20 drivers in the world can really do but not all succeed. Well we strongly recommend you go watch this one from the lame duck tagged track we get one of the most exciting, interesting, and heartbreaking races for years! With great drives and strategy all torn apart with some heavy rain late on this was a thriller! Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Well it was an inter bonanza for most of the session but at least we got a result and the promise of an interesting race tomorrow! Some outstanding performances in the drying conditions as some of the best in the field showed us why they are the future stars of the sport, Norris, Russell, and Sainz to name but 3 as the track dried in those last few minutes it became a great qualifying. As we look forward to Max and Leclerc on damage limitation runs from the back with new engines, Perez trying his best to minimise the possible Merc swing on points and a top 10 that may...... but probably not give us a race worth watching. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
As we arrive at a windswept Sochi we hope against the run of races here in the past for it to be a good one.... Probably won't be but we can live in hope. Max with his 3 place grid penalty! not really being as bad as it could have been say at Monaco, Hungary or Monza, but he still has work to do to try and keep on top of Hamilton (not in his car this time we hope) but still a Russian track that requires a bit of grunt from the engine, sausage kerbs and gusty winds will keep the drivers on their toes. Mercares as a team looking strong with a Bottas that now seems to be on board with his wingman badge, Mclaren can they carry form especially Danny, was it skinny wing and low aero that won it for him in Monza? He will be hoping to have now over come his woes of the previous 13 rounds up to Monza and can maybe help put the final nail in the Ferrari coffin and resign them to 4th in the constructors. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Thankfully we had a better than expected race today, not packed with incidents but some outstanding drives from 3-4 drivers and some pretty poor on track decisions along with teams really not thinking it through when it came to pic called and tyre choice. As we count down how many races we still have left with these cars the glaring issue of not being able to overtake is getting worse and worse for us the viewers and cash providers to this sport 2022 can't come quick enough. Some thrills and spills kept this interesting and again incidents should be looked at by the stewards! Highlighting the need for consistent and strict enough penalties that track limits and racing etiquette are either followed to the letter or over hauled so we know what we can get from drivers on the track on the limits of the car. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Well another sprint race week end dogged by the fact that you can't over take in these cars!! More whinging and moaning from Red Bull who need to have a word or something as they feel like they are the most hard done by team in F1 history. When clearly their driver was in the wrong the fact that you overtake going over 4 large sausage kerbs AND all 4 wheels outside the white lines!?!?!? then decide to think about it! as if your driver has done nothing wrong! Utter nonsense!! We look forward to what we can only hope as a great race tomorrow, Hamilton in a Mclaren/ Ferrari sandwich and a top 6 that should be interesting in to turn 1 (safety car on stand by!) and two coming through the field from the back Bottas from 20th (Engine Pen) and Gasley (for loosing a front wing and binning it in turn 1 lap 1 today) Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Yes its a day early, as we catch up on all the moves (Bottas , Russell, Albon) and the confirmed driver line-up's for next season. We talk about the weekend ahead at what should be a Merc track but the Honda engine may have a surprise or two for Hamilton and Bottas this weekend. Yes its another sprint race weekend with a qualifying that people will not see as they are still at work and then a sprint race that looks like the start of the race and blah blah blah the idea is good but the execution is not! Move it all to Saturday (Super Saturday) Qualifying followed by the Sprint right after, reverse the top 10! anything to spice up what is other wise a procession. Well todays podcast goes between the race and results and us all picking on paul for deciding to go with a Honda as his new car. But did the race deliver ? it had so much potential but we all feel this race next year will prob be the one to talk about, watchable yeah, worth the time spent watching it nahhh that what highlights are for but we didn't expect more, roll on Monza next week. This episode has some swearing in it and so has been classed as explicit, this is mainly due to us ripping Paul. We expect a return normal next podcast. The track Showed us in FP1,2 and 3 that it has some bite! Qualifying was no different. With windy conditions, sand blown on to the track and some pushing the limits on a narrow short track red flags were only to be expected. A fascinating qualifying with Red Bull dropping the ball with Perez, Mclaren all at sea with the battle for third has swinging back in favour of Ferrari for this race but will they have race pace? but all eyes will be on Max, Hamilton and Bottas. Will it be fireworks or a snooze fest at the short undulating track with no margin for error. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
The first domino has fallen as Kimi announces his retirement at the end of the season, the magic round-about that is the drivers market just kicked in to high gear. This must confirm Russell to Merc / Bottas to the vacant seat left by Kimi but in turn will we see a return of Albon to the grid?! A new track- ish! , we have not raced here since 1985 but an updated and re-profiled track with not one but two banked bends to get all excited about, 72 laps await on what is quite a short track but will it be another follow the leader with what looks like only two over taking spots, we will see fingers grossed we get the battle we deserve from Max (home race) and the villain of the piece Hamilton ( Boo boys are ready) on what is expected to be a dry race weekend. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Wet conditions to the point that they have called the race after a few laps behind the safety car and about 3 and a half hours of watching so the drivers have been allocated half points but Russell with a podium and some great points for Williams so we didn't see a race, but its still a good day for them. The work and the bravery from qualifying means that all the points are still well deserved by all. We look forward to the Dutch GP. Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
Wet and wild qualifying today delays for weather and incidents, we saw some of the best driving in the wet from all concerned Russell looking at you and ok Norris had his problems but up to that point he was on fire. we also have 5 place grid penalty's for Bottas and Stroll after the issues they had in Hungary mixing up the grid but its going to leave it as a two horse race out front as Hamilton and Max will be going wheel to wheel for 44 laps of Spa. Wet Race expected for tomorrow maybe showers or more of the same heavy persistent rain as we had today but it becomes a bit of a lottery and again makes the race even more exciting to watch! Email us on the show at DNF1Podcast@gmail.com and buy Merchandise and other F1 related stuff at our online shop Beardycat.com
We are back with what promises to be one of the most exciting run's in to the end of the season! What has become a bitter rivalry between Red Bull and Merc could erupt again at any bend on any track however depending on contracts and who is going to drive where still up in the air for Bottas/ Russell could that become a large part of the story as Merc are going to need that wing man. Merc are always stronger as we enter the second half of the season will this be any different? Merc are looking very good on mediums vs all the rest having to go to softs to match them, however with the location of Spa and the showers expected all weekend nothing is certain!
Well where to start? The drama from the first lap all the way through to 10pm Sunday evening as one of the people on the podium is disqualified from the race.... Hungary has give us so much even if the middle part of the race and the struggles to over take highlight the flaws of the track and the sport. Join Gareth, Derek and myself as we do our best to talk you through the race none of us saw coming. Visit Beardcat.com for show merchandise track art and lots more with 750 designs.
So...... can we expect more of the same as Silverstone ? We hope so but with no one winding up in the barriers! With track temps being up in to the 60-65 degrees Celsius (145 Fahrenheit) the softs that Red Bull are starting on just ain't going to cut the mustard with full fuel loads at the start! Christian should be out doing rain dances instead of trying to over turn decisions 2 weeks past! Rain may save the day for RB but Merc are looking strong, with Silverstones upgrades playing their part can Merc get back on top in the driver & constructors as we move in to the mid-season break and with the swing of power playing such a big role could this be the turning point of the season where Merc regain the lead?? Who knows!
Well it's handbags Christian and Toto going at it! All driven by the media looking for stuff to print, publish and talk about us included! However Red Bull may have crossed a line basically accusing Hamilton of driving dirty and its gotten a bit ugly really. With turn 1 being a rather big braking zone can we expect to see more wheel banking this weekend ? We hope so along with unsettled weather 60% chance of rain and we could be in for another classic. The driver market is being spoken about as well with the where WILL Bottas land ? will it even be Formula 1???
After what can only be described as an outstanding race (Hamilton Fans) or a travesty (Max Fans) Gareth and Derek go head to head in a heated discussion on who has the biggest member ... Hamilton or Max !!! Join us in a rather heated discussion on what was maybe the defining race of the season so far with doth drivers and constructors championships becoming so close were may well get the season we all hoped for! Visit Berardycat.com for Podcast Merchandise and track art along with 700 other designs on everything from mugs to shower curtains and backpacks.
Loved it or hated it? We're not to sure it had moments but over all do we have a more mixed up grid than normal, no of course not but we do get an extra 17 lasts in this case of racing to watch so it's a big thumbs up either way. we discuss the results but also how they could improve what was an interesting race if we can call it that for the first 8 laps then............ this should be the start of sprint races every weekend but we need those 2022 cars to make it become the spectacle that Liberty Media and Formula 1 want it to be as for now it's simply an interesting side show.
Its here! The first of the sprint race weekends. Qualifying was great all cars on soft tyres and then they were let loose!!! No changing of compounds and no talk of what tyres we need for the race etc etc etc just flat out! softest tyres GO! The qualifying today has set the grid for tomorrows sprint race which in turn will set the grid for the race come Sunday, points are up for grabs for the top three but remember this is experimental and when the 2022 cars come round expectations are going to be so much higher. Enjoy the weekend and revel in the fact the teams only having 2 hours to set up the cars one for Fridays qualifying and one hour before the sprint race come Saturday. The pressure is definitely on this weekend! Who will crack???
After last weeks race this could only be better and it was by quite a bit! however it was a penalty strewn affair that had some of the seasons best racing in the midfield with elbows out and quite a few disputes regarding who was to blame. over all a great race to watch, engaging with prob one of the seasons best performances from Norris. Join us on the 100th episode of the show as we cover off all the drivers and give our opinions on todays race. A big thanks to Derek, Paul and Gareth for becoming part of the show over the past 2 years. Visit Beardycat.com for merchandise and track art with over 700 designs.
Copy, cut, paste?? We hope not! The grid again this week offers up so much potential for a great race with some stellar performances from two drivers in particular. Will Red Bull force home the advantage they have clearly attained the past 4 races or can Merc push back with Hamilton and his new two year contract extension in his back pocket? Or do we see a Merc team that need to regroup and go in to the mid season break having controlled the damage to them points wise. McLaren looking to make gains over an up and down Ferrari team that may well suffer with the softer compounds that we have this weekend. Add in the possibility of rain during the race and we have potential for a classic. Shop DNF1 Podcast merchandise at Beardycat.com with over 700 designs to choose from.
Austria take 2! Softer compounds this weekend, will it make any difference to the outcome? Will the weather play its part probably not but we do have a small chance of rain during the race Sunday. Red Bull continue to push with new parts a plenty, meanwhile Merc are just looking for performance in the 21' car with the small promise of some upgrades....in the engine, aero and setup with the help of Hamilton doing more simulator work. Is this season one that Merc are letting go of in the hope they can reassert dominance from 2022 onwards or is it Red Bull seeing an opportunity to take a world championship but sacrifice development of next years car??? only time will tell. Visit Beardycat.com for all our merchandise and Track art with over 700 designs to chose from on a whole host of products from mugs to t-shits to stationary and homeware.
Another race billed as clash of the titan's but turned out to not offer up the excitement we are still looking for. Mclaren and Ferrari still arguing over third in the constructors as a lack lustre race unfolded in front of us. Some will disagree and that but we want wheel to wheel racing, even the possibility of some rain never materialised to spice up a rather dull one. Positive points for some of the teams, heart break for Russell, confusion over Ricciardo's lack of pace still have us and I'm sure you scratching your head and Leclerc must be a lucky boy to avoid a penalty! or is it just knowing the right people in the FIA boys club? Paul and myself discuss the Styrian GP. Visit Beardycat.com for merchandise and track art.
Well here we are for our first of two jabs at the Red Bill Ring (other energy drinks are available) a fast flowing track that offers 3 good overtaking spots on a short 9 turn circuit with lap times barely over a minute. Expect track limits especially in to the last bend, the possibility of rain 40%! We will see but some early morning showers will maybe keep the track a touch green. Join us to find out how they all got on today, is the Max train still haulin' or has Merc and Hamilton worked out how to derail Red Bull. With what looks like a fascinating top ten and some chargers from outside the signs are promising. Shop Merchandise, track art and lots more at our online store http://beardycat.com/ (Beardycat.com)
News round up, contracts, and calendar changes! as we look forward to the first of our two races at the Red Bull ring in Austria. Can and will Merc bounce back a track they have went well at last year with a 40% chance of rain/ showers over the weekend will we see Hamilton at his best again in the wet. With the races coming thick and fast are budget and aero caps starting to effect the big teams? Will the FIA be able to slow pitstops down without impacting the spectacle of a sub 2 second stop. A better showing than I think we were all expecting from the French GP, a pleasant surprise with some overtakes mainly in the mid field as Ferrari and Mclaren resume the battle for 3rd in the constructors championship, meanwhile the battle at the front the Lewis and Max show rumbles on! Today we have the wingmen arriving at the party showing us just how important they are helping with strategy and ultimately deciding the race. Todays result will have made us all question how this season is going to play out, giving us maybe the season we have so desperately been waiting for. This being the start of a triple header with Austria up next twice can Red Bull home advantage help them in the battle with Merc. Do we finally have the championship battle we have waited for? With wingmen all set to play their part in Sundays race, the Ferrari and Mclaren battle will light up the midfield with possibly better race setup at Mclaren but they have to make up positions. Outside the top ten we will have some chargers coming through from the back! With a possible chance of showers we simply don't know how this race is going to play out, with yellow kerbs and crazy sandpaper in all of the run off areas tomorrows race could be decided by a simple mistake from any of the front runners. Visit Beardycat.com for our Merchandise as well as a huge selection of Track Art.
We Look forward to everyones favourite race! The carpark with paint that is Paul Ricard and wish Magny-Cours would return some time soon! If its not wings its tyres now with this lot! We discuss the Pirelli fallout regarding tyre pressures and temperatures and what the FIA is doing so it doesn't happen again, Was it Pirelli at fault or the teams pushing the very limits of what's in the rules? Red Bull at the centre of it AGAIN! We also cover the hoped Merc bounce back as well as Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mclaren and Red Bulls P2 times.
