Today’s guest is Rob Musick, the Chaplain of the University of Pikeville. Get to know Rob ⤵Rob was my Chaplain when I attended UPike years ago. I accepted a football scholarship, moved seven hours from home, and found myself in a season of uncertainty. I was dealing with dramatic changes in my life, miles away from a loving and supportive community, and far removed from my wife to be. I never knew I would experience such loneliness and doubt in my life. But, I had Rob. Rob was so patient and encouraging in that season and I knew he genuinely cared about my life and my future. Rob was an incredible example of what it means to be humble, meek, patient, and a mighty encourager. He was a man that lived in grace and walked in love. I wanted to sit down with Rob and ask him about engaging people with opposing ideas and how to do that with humility. I pray that throughout this podcast, there is a stirring within your heart to pray for Rob and his ministry at the University of Pikeville.“I believe that the role of Spiritual Life is to be gracious and hospitable to all beliefs, help shape spiritual formation, provide pastoral care, companionship with others in finding their life’s work, and create a network of community and global servants who seek to live out the social justice heart of Jesus.” – Rob Musick, UPIKE ChaplainWant to learn more about the Falling Forward Podcast? Today’s guest is PJ Charles. PJ is probably one of my favorite human beings on planet earth. I would call him "the best-kept secret in Orlando, Florida".PJ is the most authentic individuals I have ever met. When he talks about spreading the gospel, loving people, or pouring into the marginalized and overlooked there is a power to his words. Most men boast about doing these types of things but PJ lives it out on a daily basis. He is the Founder and Director of Straight Street Ministries. Straight Street is a non-profit urban mission catering to the spiritual and physical needs of the poor and homeless of Orlando, Florida.Straight Street’s meal sharing program serves in inner-city Orlando and has become a staple for those in need. Through volunteers, community organizers, and local churches, Straight Street has delivered over 300,000 meals to those living in poverty or homelessness. And most importantly, through this ministry, thousands are hearing the gospel each year. PJ is the man behind this ministry and I am so excited to highlight who he is and how God is using him. If I have learned anything from PJ it’s not asking permission to do and be the good in this world. PJ writes on his websites, “Hope is restored when vision ignites a fire in the heart, mind and soul and provokes a restless spirit towards action.” I hope you enjoy our conversation! I pray that through this podcast, there is a stirring within your heart to give, to participate, or feel lead to pray for God to use Straight Street Ministries to extend the kindness of Jesus to those in need. Tyler Martin is a soon to be church planter in the beatiful state of Wyoming. Tyler and his wife, Ashley, will step away from a life of comofort in Fort Worth, Texas to obey God in reaching people with the gospel. There is nothing more exciting than to sit down with someone who is passionate about telling others about Jesus. The Martin's are living out the the urgency Christians should all have to reach those who are far from God. Tyler and Ashley have grown to love the local church and how God uses the body of Christ to strengthen his children's faith. Tyler says, "We want to see God save the lost in Wyoming and nurture them into a healthy walk with Jesus. We want to be one of the churches God uses to proclaim the gospel to the lost and disciple the believers into that healthy walk." Tyler's heart for reaching the people of Wyoming is contagious and it stems from a reality that David Platt articualtes so well, "Every saved person on this side of heaven owes the gospel to every lost person on this side of hell." Pray for the Martin's as they step-up and step-out by faithfully obeying the purpose God has for their lives. We hope you enjoy this conversation and please consider partnering with the Martin's to #ReachWyoming. The biggest discussion amoungst Christians today would be the topic of worship. We seem to always ask the questions: What style of worship do you perfer? Comtempary or tradition? What style of worship does your church have?People continue to declare their allegiance to one particuliar style of worship without asking the better questions: What is worship? What is the definition of worship? Is worship only connected to with music only? What is the problem with worship today? Why is it a problem? What is right with worship today? Why? This will be the topic of discussion today on the Falling Forward Podcast. Join Dakota and Clayton sit down to discuss the importance of understanding the essence of worship in the local church with special guest, Laramie Minga. Laramie is currently the music pastor at WoodLawn Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Lousinia. He has a strong passion for Word-driven and gospel-centered music in the gathered worship of the church. In regards to music in worship, he says, “For some time now it has become common to see priority placed on styles and performance and not on rich theological substance that a gathering of believers is able to sing. Many of us (leaders of music in worship) have exchanged the worship of God for the entertainment of people. That is not to say that performance and style are not important, but that they are secondary to the text and should be used as tools in which to communicate that text. My ministry objective is to assist in the discipleship of the local church and to lead it in worship (not limited to music) that is fueled by the Word of God and centered around the gospel so that God would be glorified.” We had a wonderful coversation talking to Laramie on his perspective of worship. Many Christians could probably share the basics of what they believe. But what if you were to ask them “Why?” Why do they believe what they believe? How can they believe in God with the pain in the world? Why do they read a book written thousand of years ago? The discipline of Apologetics helps answer these questions and many more. While theology is what the Christian believes, Apologetics seeks to provide a reason why. This will be the topic of discussion today on the Falling Forward Podcast. Join Dakota and Clayton as they discuss the importance of knowing why you believe what you believe with special guest, Travis McNeely. Travis is a former student of Southwestern Seminary now serving as the Student & College Minister at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Travis is passionate about engaging the secular culture with the gospel, as well as equipping fellow saints to understand and articulate the "whats" and "whys" of their faith, in order for the lost to be saved and discipled. We have a wonderful discussion during the Stand Firm Apologetics Conference at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. We are witnessing the rise of a fatherless generation. Statistics reveal that this isn’t a small issue; it is an epidemic. The story of fatherlessness is written into the heart of our generation. It is heard in our songs, seen in our movies, and read in our books. It is a story of shame, loneliness, and rejection; a story of missed potential and wasted opportunity. Fatherlessness is a driving force behind gangs, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and suicide. And all too often, the fatherless are either marginalized or ignored. This fatherless generation has been wounded by the absence of their earthly father. We need to reconcile this generation with their heavenly father. We need to find those impacted by fatherlessness and provide the ultimate solution and that’s introducing them to God.So the question is: How can the faith community begin rewriting this tragic story? On today’s show, we look at an outdoors ministry called Truth in Nature that seeks to be a place of refuge for fatherless boys. Through the love of men and women, Truth in Nature uses the outdoors as a platform to disciple and share the gospel with young men. Our guest is Jeff Davis, founder & Executive Director of Truth in Nature. We discuss his ministry that continues to grow with chapters in Georgia, Louisna, South Carolina, North Carolia, and Michigan. It’s evident that God has placed Jeff and his wife, Carrie, right where He wants them - pouring their lives into those who need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. We need men and women like Jeff and Carrie, who took a leap of faith to start a ministry that partners with others to reach a fatherless generation. We hope you enjoy this insightful discussion, and be sure to subscribe to the podcast and leave a review.Links to connect with Truth In Nature: Learn more at: https://truthinnature.orgWant to possibly start a chapter? On today's show, Dakota and Clayton sit down with Drew Webb. Drew grew up in the church. He was a part of his church youth group and became a leader soon after graduation. All that time, however, Drew had a secret life. For 12 years, Drew was a slave to an addiction to pornogrpahy. We talk with Drew about this struggle that is a battle faced by every man and woman, but how God's grace is greater than our sin. We are thankful for Drew's courage to open up and share his story. Here are some statisctics on pornography: The financial cost to business productivity in the U.S. alone is estimated at $16.9 Billion annually ; but the human toll, particularly among our youth and in our families, is far greater.Every second 28,258 users are watching pornography on the interneEvery second $3,075.64 is being spent on pornography on the internetEvery second 372 people are typing the word "adult" into search engines40 million American people regularly visit porn sites35% of all internet downloads are related to pornography25% of all search engine queries are related to pornography, or about 68 million search queries a dayOne third of porn viewers are women It's evident that many people are bound to the sin of pornorgraphy. Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.Romans 6:15-19

Is the Bible important? Should the Bible be used in church? This sounds like a odd question to ask, but Clayton and Dakota discuss how using the Bible is crucial in church today. Numerous studies have shown that many church members are suffering from biblical illiteracy. Also, many of the unchurched, especially in the younger generation, have shown a great interest in sprituality and are asking hard questions.
