In this episode of the Integrated Wisdom Podcast, host Tatiana welcomes clinical psychologist, schema therapist, and breathwork practitioner Dannielle Kurr for a soulful conversation about spiritual transformation. Dannielle shares her profound journey through spirituality, with a particular focus on how motherhood served as a powerful catalyst for her spiritual awakening.Episode Highlights:Transformative Birth Experiences: Dannielle describes her two childbirth experiences as spiritual initiations, with her second birth culminating in what she describes as an orgasmic, peak experience that connected her to something greater than herself.Early Spiritual Influences: The loss of her father at age three created an early need to make sense of life's bigger questions, while her university studies in both psychology and Eastern religions revealed powerful parallels between these disciplines.Breathwork as a Spiritual Tool: Following a suggestion from her doula, Danielle discovered how breathwork could access similar transformative states she experienced during childbirth, including kundalini-like energy rising through her body.A Non-Pathologizing Approach to Mental Health: Dannielle shares her perspective that many mental health challenges represent "our souls signaling to wake up" rather than pathologies to be fixed.Professional Integration: She discusses how integrating spirituality into her clinical practice helps prevent burnout by recognizing there are larger forces at work and that "life happens for you, not to you."Book Recommendations: Dannielle recommends "The Stormy Search for Self" by Stanislav Grof and "Falling Forward" by Richard Rohr for listeners interested in exploring spirituality further.Dannielle can be reached on Instagram @affectivepsychology_breathI am so excited to announce that my SOLD OUT ‘The Conscious Therapist' course will be running again in May 2025. We are to be entirely dependent on God and His grace.
In your journey to transformation you will be tempted again. And most followers of Jesus will slip again. It's tempting to fall into a shame spiral. You may think, "I've got to try harder and be more self-disciplined." Or, "It's no use. I'm too far gone. I might as well give up." You find yourself hiding from yourself, others, and from God. In this episode Dr. Carol unpacks how to deal with slips and relapses in your transformation journey. She outlines practical steps to building your escape plan for when you're tempted, and also how to set yourself up for success with lifestyle patterns that lessen your vulnerability to being tempted in the first place. In this episode of Take-Away with Sam Oches, Sam talks with Julie Mountain and Dana Noorily, cofounders of The Granola Bar, a breakfast-and-lunch, modern diner concept with eight locations across Connecticut and New York. These long-time friends initially started a granola business out of one of their kitchens in 2010, and in 2013 opened their first restaurant essentially just to give them a commercial kitchen to manufacture granola. But customers in their Westport, Conn., hometown had different plans, making that restaurant so popular that Julie and Dana abandoned the granola business and became full-time restaurateurs. They joined the podcast to share the lessons they've learned on their entrepreneurial journey and how they've fallen forward into a business that has financial partners and a new CEO who are helping to steer its slow-but-steady growth. In this conversation, you'll find out why:The business you start is not always the business you will grow Meet the hole in the market you're serving, not what's trending nationallyIf you don't lean on social media early on, then it's just icing on the cake as you growWith strategic hires, you can know what you don't knowSometimes real estate can dictate your entrepreneurial drive It's OK if your end goal is to stay small and keep it all Have feedback or ideas for Take-Away? Summary: In this episode of Inside the Plan, Bill and Andy Bush (the 401(k) Brothers) share insights from a recent advisor conference in New Orleans, focusing on the challenges that different generations face in saving for retirement. They dive into the financial obligations affecting Millennials, Gen Xers, and Baby Boomers and discuss the importance of establishing emergency savings. The conversation also explores how early savings can significantly impact long-term retirement wealth. Additionally, the brothers emphasize the essential role of financial advisors and coaches in providing organization, accountability, and proactive support in financial planning. Chapters and Key Takeaways: 00:10 — Introduction and Conference Insights The episode opens with Bill and Andy reflecting on insights gained at a recent conference with financial advisors in New Orleans. The brothers set the stage by discussing the importance of helping people navigate their retirement savings challenges. 03:00 — Financial Obligations and Retirement Savings Millennials face the highest financial obligations (89% struggle with competing priorities). Emergency savings are a crucial barrier for all generations, with 25% of Baby Boomers still facing this issue. Gen Xers and Baby Boomers see lower percentages but still encounter challenges with emergency savings and other financial obligations. 05:56 — The Importance of Early Savings Early savings significantly impact retirement wealth. The earlier you start saving, the more those dollars multiply over your career. The brothers stress that even when dollars are stretched, making the most of employer 401(k) matches can create long-term financial benefits. 09:15 — Seeking Guidance and Financial Coaching Guidance from financial advisors is essential, especially for complex decisions involving retirement planning. Financial coaching helps with accountability and organization, ensuring that clients stay on track with their goals. Millennials and Gen Zers are more inclined to seek information online, but older generations still prefer face-to-face or personalized financial advice. 12:01 — The Role of Financial Advisors Many clients do not fully implement their financial plans—only 20% of recommendations are executed. A financial plan requires action to be effective. Bill and Andy explain that while creating a plan is valuable, consistent action and follow-up are key to success. 15:23 — Core Values of Financial Planning Objectivity from a financial advisor provides clarity, helping clients make sound decisions without the emotional bias that can come from handling finances alone. Partnership with a financial planner alleviates worries, providing clients with support and a trusted resource to guide them through financial decisions. Financial advisors offer six core values: organization, objectivity, proactivity, education, accountability, and partnership, all of which contribute to long-term financial success. 19:09 — Conclusion and Contact Information Bill and Andy wrap up the episode by encouraging listeners to reach out for personalized advice and assistance. They stress the importance of communication and building a strong partnership with a financial advisor. Sound Bites: "Emergency savings is a barrier for 25% of Baby Boomers." "89% of Millennials face financial obligations hindering savings." "Early dollars saved multiply over your working career." “A lot of what I end up teaching with regards to all of music, but certainly improvisation, has to do with becoming comfortable. You can do all kinds of different technical exercises, improvisation exercises, conceptual brain project exercises, all of which serve to help the musician become comfortable and fluid with their musical expression so that they feel free enough to act on a musical impulse or a musical gesture, to respond freely to the moment.”The first year of the pandemic was a deeply creative time for Vermont based fiddle composer and song-writer Lissa Schneckenburger. When everything shut down (including her touring schedule), writing music became an essential outlet. Schneckenburger explains, “I had to write music to process my experience of living through such a difficult time. It was my life line”. The result was what Schneckenburger jokingly calls “overflowing bucketfuls of music” and enough new material for several album releases. The first album, Falling Forward, is a collection of Schneckenburger's original fiddle tunes and two traditional New England songs, released in March 2023.Lissa hired a star powered all female cast of musicians to record her compositions, and Falling Forward was recorded in December of 2022. The ensemble included fiddling producer Katie McNally, pianist Rachel Aucoin, bass player Mali Obomsawin, cellist Natalie Haas, and accordion player Karen Tweed. “These women are my heroes,” Schneckenburger says, “they are leaders in the acoustic music world, and it was such an honor to record with them.” The tunes range from lively to somber and introspective. Many reflect the tone of a riotous fiddle party with floorboards thumping, bow hair flying, and instruments and dancers in every corner. Falling Forward provides music for both meditation and release. Both of which feel appropriate in processing our collective experience as a society over the last few years.During the past few decades, Schneckenburger has made music showcasing everything from traditional dance tunes, to original songs. The latter inspired by her experience as a foster and adoptive parent. Falling Forward has blended her love of traditional music with her love of writing, in her first fiddle forward album release in over a decade. To get in touch with Lissa, you can find visit her website, https://lissafiddle.com/, or find her on Instagram (@lissafiddle), Facebook (@lissafiddle), or Tiktok (@lissafiddle).Choir Fam wants to hear from you! Raised in a small town in Maine, Lissa Schneckenburger began playing fiddle at the age of six, inspired by her parent's interest in folk music. In 2001 she graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in Contemporary Improvisation. She has been writing, performing, and teaching music around the world ever since, from traditional New England dance tunes, to original songs inspired by her experience as a foster and adoptive parent.Lissa has toured the globe, from her New England stomping grounds to Quebec, the United Kingdom, Denmark and even Russia, playing and teaching at festivals far and wide. She's opened for esteemed artists such as Richard Thompson and Judy Collins. But when the pandemic put a damper on touring, writing music became an essential outlet for Lissa. The result was enough new material for several albums. The first in the queue, Falling Forward, is a collection of Schneckenburger's original fiddle tunes and two traditional New England songs, just released last March. To Schneckenburger “music creates community, It's what people sing along to, dance to, fall in love to... music brings people together. These songs are part of all of us, and it's an honor” to share them. You can find more of Lissa's music at https://lissafiddle.com/

Joining the podcast this week is the force behind some of IHG's most dynamic brands. She's a hospitality veteran who works to create seamless end-to-end guest experiences. Meet Karen Gilbride, Vice President of Avid Hotels, Atwell Suites, and Garner Hotels at IHG. Karen joins Host Dan Ryan to explore IHG's newest brand Garner, and the design philosophy behind it. Additionally, Karen shares the power that mentorship programs can have, the nuances of designing for staff and employees, and how to build a brand. Takeaways: Hospitality is the feeling you get when you visit someone's house and feel welcomed and cared for. Everyday the hospitality industry works to make you feel like you're visiting a close friend when you stop by a hotel. While new construction suits a lot of owners, there is a need to provide owners with a conversion pathway as well. By taking existing properties, owners can update old buildings and save on costWhen designing a hotel room, starting with foam core helps you get an initial feel for the size and shape of the room. Once you have that established, consider where the furniture goes, and how the guests will flow through the room. When building a brand you have two customers to think about. First is the guest who may check in on a given night, the second is the owner. If you can't get an owner to invest in the brand, there won't be a hotel for a guest to check in to. When picking furniture for a hotel, it's important to not only consider the guest, but the hotel staff who have to interact with it as well. If a side table looks nice, but is too heavy to move, it quickly becomes an obstacle to clean around. Any guest experience is about attention to details and understanding what your standards are. If you're only going to do 5 main things, understand what they are, and execute them to perfection.Having a strong foundation of people is crucial for any business, but doubly so in hospitality. Through mentoring programs, new and rising talent can be recognized, and given the resources they need to flourish. Quote of the Show:“I realized that it really is about high attention to detail and standards, being clear about what the standards are, training people against it, and then executing.” - Karen GilbrideLinks:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/karen-gilbride-379b976/ Website: https://www.ihg.com/garner-hotels/hotels/us/en/reservation Website: https://www.ihg.com/hotels/us/en/reservation Shout Outs:6:37 - Intercontinental Park Lane London: https://parklane.intercontinental.com/ 7:20 - Scott Norwood7:28 - New York Giants: https://www.giants.com/ 9:58 - Candlewood Suites: https://www.ihg.com/candlewood/hotels/us/en/reservation 16:48 - Kimpton Hotels: https://www.kimptonhotels.com/31:59 - Cornell: https://www.cornell.edu/ 36:22 - Crowne Plaza: https://www.ihg.com/crowneplaza/hotels/us/en/reservation 37:22 - Fordham University: https://www.fordham.edu/ 57:00 - Holiday Inn: https://www.holidayinn.com/ 1:01:00 - Statler Hotel: https://statlerhotel.cornell.edu/ Ways to Tune In: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A2XOJvb6mGqEPYJ5bilPXApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/defining-hospitality-podcast/id1573596386Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZGVmaW5pbmdob3NwaXRhbGl0eS5saXZlL2ZlZWQueG1sAmazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/8c904932-90fa-41c3-813e-1cb8f3c42419

This week we hear from New England fiddler Lissa Schneckenburger. Lissa has been performing and recording New England fiddle and folk music for the past 20 years. Her fiddling is one of a kind, intensely danceable, with virtuosic technique and fluidity. She shares what it was like to fiddle as a kid, traveling to fiddle contests in Maine, her experiences studying music at the New England Conservatory, and her latest projects to come out of the period of the pandemic. Lissa Shneckenburger is well known for teaching adult fiddlers how to learn by ear, and she breaks down the different roadblocks her students run into when trying to get the hang of it. Rev. Ken talks to us today about Falling Forward: how to use the mistakes of our lives to propel us to something greater. This talk was recorded live at Unity San Francisco on November 5th, 2023.
This week is going to look a little different from normal, because I want to share with you one of the devotions from my devotional, Imagine. Imagine was written based on the spiritual practice of imaginative prayer, which is where you try to imagine what it might be like to be one of the people in the Bible, or to watch a Bible story unfold before your eyes. The devotional I'm going to read together with you is focused on those times when we fail—big time. Like, not just the normal, everyday failures we might experience like getting grumpy or being late to a meeting or getting into a disagreement with someone in our family. But the bigger ones, the ones where we really mess it up and we carry the shame or guilt or condemnation around with us. You've got one in mind? I know I do. Let me read through the Bible passage and devotional with you, and then we'll have a few moments at the end to ponder some questions together. It's entitled, “Falling Forward.” Kari RELATED EPISODES + RESOURCES: · Imagine Devotional: http://lovedoesthat.org/imagine · Episode 32, Bible Study Made Simple Podcast with Eva Kubasiak · Bonus Episode 11: [Imaginative Prayer] Jesus, Have Mercy · Bonus Episode 20: [Imaginative Prayer] Coming Back to God in Thanksgiving and Praise: The Grateful Leper ______ >> Free Journaling Workshop: 3 Ways to Encounter God on the Pages of Your Journal http://lovedoesthat.org/journalingworkshop >> Journal Gently: An 8-week program designed to help you process grief and trauma with God http://lovedoesthat.org/journalgently >> Written Spiritual Direction: Recognize God's presence in your pain http://lovedoesthat.org/spiritualdirection
Sara is a proud mom to 3 wonderful young men, a business owner, a mountain and ocean adventurer, an artist, and a former teacher. She is a teacher of resilience, adventure, and living Boldly. Ten years ago, Sara divorced from her husband of 17 years. She made a point everyday of getting outside, navigating through anger, pain, and grief while hiking 14,000 ft mountains and paddling 4-miles out to sea with whales and dolphins. She somatically healed her heart, mind, and body through nature while practicing the art of resiliency and forgiveness. As a result, she began finding the new Sara. A version of herself with a larger smile, a longer laugh, and a love for her present life. The gift of her trauma was finding her most important relationship: the one within herself. Sara's trauma became her purpose: to help others embrace their resiliency. Using a workable 3-part system, she guides individuals and teams to move from victim → survivor → thriver. In life. At work. In business. In this solo episode, Sara talks about the part of the journey of being in the dating world in her 40's and turning 50 in a couple of weeks. She has learned a lot from each relationship, and shares her insights for all of you in this world of dating as well. Sara talks about what she has named “Falling Forward”, which doesn't mean falling on your face, but rather taking with you all you've learned from each relationship, good or bad. Sara's intention is to finally find that great life partner to share life with, but in the meantime, she is learning all she can from life right now. Enjoy this episode! There was a time when the Midwest seethed like the sea, fields and farmland, widespread and curling, cities ringing dark, hollow and deep. Under the shadow of the Great Lakes, haunted by the ghosts of industry, the young made music because of there was often nothing else to do, packing into small town basements and howling along with each another in VFW halls.Hüsker Dü's punk roared out of Minnesota, wresting alternative melody away from the radio, and Squirrel Bait's Louisville energy found new translation in the emotional desperation and guitar-driven heaviness of bands like Falling Forward and Endpoint. Indianapolis gave us Split Lip, eventually becoming Chamberlain, fusing hardcore's political passion with emo's honesty and the kind of rust belt stories echoed in Americana's weary bellow. The echoes of this musical ethic pealed back from as far away as Canada, the West coast, and the swelter of the South, with bands like Shoulder, Grade, Samiam, Fairweather, and Hot Water Music all throwing their songs into the wind. Raising a grateful glass to this heritage, Toledo, Ohio's RESIGNATION have partnered with Friend Club Records to release their You Are More Than Right Now EP on February 10th, 2023. Listen to their first single, “Eddie Kingston,”premiered recently by Behind The Midwest Scene and now available on all streaming services. The band's earnest post-hardcore insists that their audience wrestle with empathy, recognizing shared mental health struggles and the deep need for community. It's a strange thing to be human and alive in this dystopian timeline, and RESIGNATION resolutely offers us gasoline and a sometimes sputtering torch, the promised light of which can kindle a hope for something more. Thanks for listening!!! Are you ready to master failure? It sounds like a contradiction if you are hellbent on success. But it's just a paradox, as the Man in Red Rudy Mawer so eloquently explains in this red hot, super inspirational episode of Living The Red Life. Of course you are going to fail — probably more times than you will succeed in business, especially when you are just starting out. But it's HOW you adapt to that failure, the failure mindset you adopt, that will determine your success. Success lies on just the other side of your failure, and you need to see things from a wider perspective and put what you are going through right now into context. Is your health still okay? Did anyone die? No? Great! Imagine how you'll be laughing at the staff or legal issues you're having now in a few years' time — when you're going through the same stuff, most probably still — but now you have a resilient failure mindset that allows you to cope with setbacks and see them as obstacles to overcome on your journey to success. You've taken the red pill. You're all in with Rudy now. He's opening up and sharing the setbacks that have made him a stronger businessman for it. Download, share, like, and review — do what you have to do to get on board the red life jet ski (Rudy has two!), luxury yacht, or ship of success that is YOUR destiny. “If you push through what you're going through today, I guarantee you that in five or ten years, you'll have this problem every single day — and you'll laugh about it.” ~ Rudy MawerThe first 1000 to click here and send the promo code from the podcast can claim one of my courses for FREE! - https://m.me/rudymawerlife In This Episode:- Dealing with business failures in the right way to set yourself up for long-term success- Pushing through with the right mindset — why context is key- What situations did you have in the last few years that you laugh about now? - Using failure as a training rep — the similarities between muscle growth and business- Shouldering responsibility — why building a dream isn't easy- Having a better relationship with the wins and losses of life to become a better person all roundAnd more!Connect with Rudy Mawer:LinkedInInstagramFacebookTwitter

Is Bad Haggis together anymore? Can't find much on the inter webs. Keep up the excellent work!" The website mentioned an interest in Sci Fi & that you sometimes write music for sci fi themes, so I am curious - have you ever written music relating to the TV Sci - Fi series Firefly (2002/2003)? Your podcast asked for a picture of what we are working on while listening – well, here it is – the ever - exciting operations guide for our microwave reactor (non - nuclear). It's a gallop of a read! My company uses these reactors to manufacture materials that will hopefully reduce the environmental footprint of batteries and other items. I listened to the entire back catalog (a little over 520 episodes as of this review) over the past year, and have enjoyed so many great songs, including original pieces and covers of old classics. The ICM Podcast has introduced me to many bands and individual musicians I probably would never have discovered otherwise, and some are definite new favorites. I also appreciate that the podcast is released with chapter markers and time stamps within the notes. This makes identifying (and replaying) songs very easy." Kinnfolk replied to a Facebook post: "Pleased as always to be included in the podcast!! (By the way - we're making mac 'n' cheese sandwiches while listening.)" Kelly emailed a photo from the Sail On episode: "Hi Marc, Here are some pictures of sailing south between Bodie Island (Kitty Hawk) and Roanoke Island while listening to the Sail On episode. I have been a long time listener, since the very early days of your Podcast, and Proud Patreon member. Your hard work to keep these coming is deeply appreciated. Many thanks."
