A model, who's previously worked for Huffer believes the kiwi brand is using AI generated models in a new campaign. Elijah Timmins-Scanlon spotted the campaign on social media and initially thought one of the pictures was him. He said closer inspection shows it wasn't and he posted a comment suggesting it was AI generated and said Huffer blocked him. Huffer has not responded to Checkpoint's requests for comments. Elijah Timmons-Scanlon spoke to Lisa Owen.

Erica Huffer, clinical educator at Hammond Henry Hospital, joined the Wake Up Tri-Counties morning show to discuss her new role and a promising initiative called SPARK. SPARK stands for Supporting Professionals Accountability Through Resources and Knowledge, aiming to enhance staff development and professional standards across the hospital. Since taking on her clinical educator position just before Thanksgiving, Erica has focused on empowering healthcare workers with accessible training, mentorship, and educational tools. The initiative hopes to create a culture of continuous learning and support for hospital staff. This new initiative offers full tuition coverage, paid clinical hours, and a guaranteed job after graduation for future nurses, lab staff, and athletic trainers. In exchange, participants pledge to work at the hospital for four years post-licensure. The program seeks applicants at least 18 years old, committed to improving community health, and capable of maintaining a 2.75 GPA. SPARK removes the burden of student debt while providing valuable hands-on experience. Janet talks to Greg Huffman about Nuclear Fuels Inc. and his background in the uranium space.   Greg Huffman, Chief Executive Officer, President & Director of Nuclear Fuels Inc. With a focus on uranium and other energy-related metals, Mr. Huffman's diverse background includes roles in mining specialty sales, fund management, and equity research in the metals and mining sector. In his career, he has been instrumental in leading cross-border coordination in global mining financial matters, including his work as a mining analyst focused on uranium from 2004 to 2007. His most recent experience, from 2016 to 2024, was as the Global Head of Mining Sales at Canaccord Genuity. He employed his broad range of geological and financial skills to evaluate mining companies exploring, developing, and producing precious, base, and energy-related metals, including uranium. Mr. Huffman is known for his insightful industry publications, the “Canaccord Genuity High-Grade Mining Minute” and “Huffer's High-Grade Nuggets.”   Before Canaccord Genuity, Mr. Huffman worked in a similar mining equity sales role with Scotia Capital, as well as a materials analyst with a multi-strategy, U.S.-based investment fund. An extensive geological background complements his mining equity research and sales experience. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors), cum laude, from the Harquail School of Earth Sciences at Laurentian University in Sudbury and serves on the Advisory Board of the Goodman School of Mines, also at Laurentian University.

Fervan C. Huffer, 98, of Richmond, passed peacefully in her home on September 1, 2023.  She was born on April 16, 1925, in Iron Gate, Va. to Nora Coffey and Chalmer Crutchfield.  Fervan married her loving husband, Wayte Huffer, in 1950, who preceded her in death as well as her brothers, Ruel and Dennis “Jack”, all military veterans.  She became a licensed practical nurse through on-the-job training at King's Daughters Hospital in Staunton, Va.  She adored being a nurse and cared for those in need for over 40 years.  Fervan served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, was...Article LinkSupport the show

The spate of ram raids across Tāmaki Makaurau has workers on edge and calling for stronger action. Overnight the Harvey Norman and Huffer stores in Westgate and Ponsonby were burgled and three people have been arrested. There was also a failed break-in at a Takanini mobile phone shop. Lynne Huffer, the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Womens and Gender Studies at Emory University to speaks widely about the body of her work, including her her new book, Foucault's Strange Eros, out in 2020 with Columbia University Press.  What is the strange eros that haunts Foucault's writing? In this deeply original consideration of Foucault's erotic ethics, Lynne Huffer provocatively rewrites Foucault as a Sapphic poet. She uncovers eros as a mode of thought that erodes the interiority of the thinking subject. Focusing on the ethical implications of this mode of thought, Huffer shows how Foucault's poetic archival method offers a way to counter the disciplining of speech. At the heart of this method is a conception of the archive as Sapphic: the past's remains are, like Sappho's verses, hole-ridden, scattered, and dissolved by time. Listening for eros across fragmented texts, Huffer stages a series of encounters within an archive of literary and theoretical readings: the eroticization of violence in works by Freud and Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, the historicity of madness in the Foucault-Derrida debate, the afterlives of Foucault's antiprison activism, and Monique Wittig's Sapphic materialism. Through these encounters, Foucault's Strange Eros conceives of ethics as experiments in living that work poetically to make the present strange. Crafting fragments that dissolve into Sapphic brackets, Huffer performs the ethics she describes in her own practice of experimental writing. Foucault's Strange Eros hints at the self-hollowing speech of an eros that opens a space for the strange.
