Welcome back. We need the practice of mindfulness everyday and even more so when there is war and rumors of wars. There is no doubt that there will be times in our life that our world is turned upside down and nothing makes sense. Here is some encouragement to help the battle in the mind to keep us productive and moving in the right direction. It's raw... which is the same letters as war. I share a story from my time in Israel, and some encouragement to guide us in this dark time. I wrote this in my journal...its a poem or prayer really. We danced and the rockets rained down. Please G-d make us one. The differences between us has no distinction with the enemy. The enemy sees us as one. The enemy came in- surrounds us all around Help me G-d, with out you I am only one. Unity, Strength, and light will come from this darkness. We trust in You, G-d the Mighty One. written by: Gabby Upham Take aways: Do good, Learn bible, share love and light to make the world a better place.

The parenting journey is a tough one. You can feel like you are losing your temper and loosing your mind. Today's episode offers blunt and relatable advise on how to calm our own parenting fears, discipline our children my modeling and offering a deep connection. Today's episodes tackles topics like: boundaries vs worthiness demanding respect vs demonstrating respect "Discipline isn't something you do to children, It's something you develop within them." Dr. Becky A. Bailey Show take aways: Don't deprive someone else the privilege and joy of helping you. It's ok to ask for help. One of the greatest gifts you can give your kids (or loved ones) is doing something for yourself. You can't demand respect, but you can demonstrate self respect. Deal with your fear of rejection, use this phrase "Of course, my preference is valuable". If you don't care enough about yourself, they why would anyone else care about you. Humble yourself. Humility is a powerful tool with a strong willed child. Try having a difficult/great discussion in the car, sitting side by side. Use real life conflict to get to the root of the issue. Goal: I want to teach my kids, that when their world is out of control...mine is not. I can deal with you at your worst, and you can trust me. Formula for offering "perspective" to our kids: plant a seed give space offer support Please Check out CelebrateCalm.com to find more of Kirks offerings. He has a great package deal! Try one of these practices to calm large emotions: Hand to heart breathing: Place one hand on heart, one on the belly, focus of the movement of breath through the body. Imagine a "Happy Place" or happy memory and bring in all 5 senses. Cookie Breathing: Inhale (smell the cookie) exhale (blow to cool the cookies) 4. This is a fun and messy conversation. Hear a great reconnection from old friends and they share about their personal experience of the journey of parenting. This Family Pastor, Chris McCarthy, is a director of NextGen Ministries and serves at John Wesley Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. He shares some insight on the current trends that he sees in parenting. Many of the ideas discussed, like what our children think, how we encourage their growth, and a parental desire to be a role model in their life also mirror one of the High Performance Habits outlined in the book High Performance Habits from Brendon Burchard. To gain influence with others, (1) teach them how to think about themselves, others, and the world; (2) challenge them to develop their character, connections, and contributions; and (3) role model the val- ues you wish to see them embody. Some highlights: 1. The struggle makes the butterfly beautiful and strong. 2. Ask yourself, are you living on a fishing vessel, or a luxury cruise? Are you serving or do you expect to be served? 3. When we want to influence kids-Remember, we are raising them for something. We all have a purpose. 4. It's important to balance purpose with grace. 5. We are all different, treat each child and each other as their own individual. 6. We have a choice to parent in mindful mode vs. reaction mode. 7. There are ~936 weeks from birth to age 18 (graduation) 8. 3 questions that kids today are asking- Am I valuable?, Am I capable?, Do I belong?
