The board heard a concept presentation from Terrabis, a proposed cannabis dispensary. The board also adjusted parking in the downtown, paid bills, and more. Tune in for a brief update.

On January 22, the Board heard from the Hezner Corporation on plans they designed for the Bank Triangle at the center of Downtown Mundelein. In this episode we talk through some of the plans details and our impressions of what it is and what isn't. We also discuss the short yet important board meeting where we welcomed a new Deputy Police Chief and new Police Commander, as well as the other business of the Village. The board held a Committee of the Whole Meeting on Monday prior to the Board Meeting to discuss the tax levy. We scheduled 30 mins and discussed the levy for 45. Today, we're recapping that meeting along with the Village board meeting.

We welcomed Trustee Robin Meier back to the board, celebrated several promotions at the Fire Department, installed several commissioners, and met our new Police Department comfort dog - Millie. Over the past 12-18 months the Village of Mundelein has seen an increase in the sales of alcohol to those under 21 - in some cases even being sold by minors to minors. This week the Village Board heard a presentation from developers who've been working closely with the Wirtz family to create a unique neighborhood that'll be the first of it's kind in Illinois! With more than 2,000 homes of different types with design elements not seen to in today's developments, Ivanhoe Village is proposed with Traditional Neighborhood Designs (TND) to create a walkable and community feel. This week we're discussing a proposed apartment complex on Butterfield and an existing car dealer moving to Mundelein and taking over the vacant lot on 45. With lots of public commentary we discuss community concerns and how we take that into consideration when reviewing proposals.
Just at ten minutes, this is one of the quickest Village Board Meetings we've seen - if not the quickest. We still paid bills, bought a few vehicles (important pricing update), contracted some HVAC repairs, and updated a redevelopment agreement and separate plat.

Two years in a row the Village of Mundelein is on track for surplus budgets and adding money into reserves! For the first time ever - Sales tax outpaced property tax to become the largest source of revenue for the Village! This budget comes with other great news: increased street budget (and work), capital improvement projects in the works, and for the second year an additional one million dollars into reserves. In this episode it's Trustee Schwenk x2 as we dive into the COW and Village Board Meeting. Spoiler alert, the Mundelein Village Board didn't raise taxes and you may even see a decrease next year!
